This is a titillating romance. The story is sexy from beginning to end. Joe is a Dominant hell bent on revenge. He has Hunter in his sights and he never misses his mark. Hunter is broken and accepts the miserable life she leads, believing that she deserves it. She never thought that she could heal until she met Joe. He I trod yes her to the world of Don/Sub and she finds a peace that she never knew existed. Karma turns on Joe and he finds himself ensnared in her innocence. The truth will always come out, no matter what. Can these two find a way through the disaster? You need to read and find out.
The scenes between these two are incredibly hot! The story will keep you interested until the end. I loved the depth of the two main characters. This is my first book from this author and it definitely won’t be the last.

We all have those authors whose books we will purchase without even reading what the actual book is about because we love that author so much. Cynthia Hamilton is that author for me. I LOVE her writing style and the way she creates a story so in depth it’s like you’re an active member of the story or at the very least- watching it like a movie. This is my 4th Madeline Dawkins Mystery book, and I cannot wait for another one. She struck gold with this series. I love Maddie and Mike to no end! This book will give you multiple different scenarios for a couple of cases that have been dumped on the duo. Will Steven Ridley be a problem for them this go around? This was a new author to me, but when I read the synopsis, I knew that I needed to read this book. I am so glad that I found her and her books. A Submissive, a Dominant and BDSM this was right in my wheelhouse. Throw in a sexy military man and I couldn’t get this book open fast enough. Joe is seeking out revenge. He is looking for the person that sent his friend and teammate a letter…. Hunter is his target, she finds herself drawn to Joe. This genre is what I normally go for, but this series has done really shown me a different side to the crime/mystery genre and I have grown to really enjoy it. Cynthia Hamilton has once again drawn me into this read and made me forget everything around me! It had me turning the pages quickly wanting to find out more. This book is filled with suspense, mystery, action and leaves you guessing what could happen next. I can’t wait to see what will happen next in this series until then I highly recommend this read!

I loved reading the book Rose by Any Other Name (The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series, Book 10) by Becki Willis. It is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning. I loved reading about the mystery woman Rose Belvedere who has just moved into The Sisters. With her arrival comes suspicions and a dead body. What will Chief Brash deCordova and Madison find out about this newcomer? What is going on in The Sisters? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has adventure, suspense, and mystery. The book had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. It also has amazing and colorful characters that I loved reading about. The author does a wonderful job of making both them and the storyline come alive. I felt like I was right there with them as their investigations start and deepen. There are also humorous moments that had me laughing at the bantering and interactions. The setting for the story is in a small town so everyone knows and hears about what goes on all the time. I could relate as I live in a rural, small town. Don’t miss out on an intriguing and entertaining story that I didn’t want to put down until I had finished the last page. I highly recommend it be added to the top of your TBR list.

Deception is my first read by Victoria Saccenti. Never having read any of her work before, I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book. I discovered that the author has a very descriptive and ‘visual’ style to her writing- with an attention to detail that really brought his story to life. I loved that part of the book. I really liked the premise, offering something a little different from other books in the same genre. I was really into this story- until the dialogue and interactions between characters. Something about it really put me off a bit. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it seemed a little forced and/or somewhat disingenuous. There were cheesy moments, and some of the ‘sex-scenes’ were a little awkwardly worded. This did seem to improve as the story progressed and I did enjoy the second half more than the first. This book should have ticked all the boxes for me- but fell a little short. Maybe it was just me, as I have read a few of the other reviews for it and they all seem to have no problems with it- so I think I will revisit this book again in the future and see if I still feel the same way or whether I was just having an off reading day. This book is a game of seduction, with revenge being the end game. But what happens when this spider web of intrigue and deception begins to unravel? What happens when feelings become involved? And what happens when the truth is revealed? You really need to read the story if you want to find out. I really wanted to love this book so much more than I did. But I just couldn’t connect with it the way I’d hoped. Maybe next time.

We get to see some more growth for our characters in this book. Investigating not one but two cases involving dead husbands, we dive right in and are taken for quite the spin. And if that’s not enough, let’s throw in an ex with his own cry for help. The story moved well, and we get to see all the details and are able to paint the picture in our minds of what is going on. Good read, great series!

This is book four in Cynthia Hamilton’s ‘Madeline Dawkins Mystery’ series and having read and thoroughly enjoyed the previous three books I was really looking forward to this latest instalment and was definitely not disappointed. This series just keeps getting better and better, Madeline is a great main character and heroine of the stories and I felt like I was back with an old friend whilst reading this novel. In, ‘The Trouble with Paradise’ a person from Madeline’s past threatens her future and everything she has built for herself since leaving her husband and becoming a private investigator. Her latest cases along with partner Mike Delaney come personally from the Santa Barbara D.A. and include the case of a widow who is insistent that she did not kill her much older husband. The other is a widow who does not agree that her husband took his own life. Whilst sifting through the greed and betrayal involved in these cases to determine the truth, Madeline is reminded of her own past. Meanwhile, Madeline’s ex husband comes back into her life wanting to clear the name of an inmate, Lindsay Bartholomew who is adamant that she has been set up and is not guilty of the crimes she’s in prison for. Not believing her ex husband could be a changed man, Madeline focuses on her investigations. It soon becomes clear that if the killer is not already in prison then he is still free and will continue his murder spree to remain safe himself. This story had me hooked from page one and kept me guessing until the last page, it has a fast paced and exciting storyline. The novel is full of drama and suspense, and I like how the author weaves the personal aspects of Madeline and Mike’s lives into the murder, mystery, crime story. It can be read as a standalone story, however the reader would understand more of Madeleine’s backstory if they have read the previous books in the story. I definitely recommend this novel and think that it is a five star read.

I loved reading the book Composed (An Ash Park Novel Book 8) by Meghan O’Flynn. It is the next amazing story in the Ash Park series that I have loved since I read the first book. It pulls you in and didn’t let me go until the final page. I found myself turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. Edward Petrosky is back in action and ready to bring a killer to justice. Edward is a man who is haunted by the past. He trusts his instincts when on a case and is determined to stop the killings that are being committed. Will the killer be stopped? Read this book to find out. This story had me on the edge of my seat. It is suspenseful and keeps you guessing. I love how the author makes me feel like I am right there with the characters in their investigation trying to put all of the clues together. Both the storyline and the characters come alive on the page. Don’t miss out on an intriguing crime story that you won’t be able to put down. I highly recommend both the book and the series.

This is my first book from this series, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more books in this series. This is a well written flowing story that has mystery and characters that bring life to the story. I had no issues connecting with the characters and they add some humor to the story. This book has two separate mysteries like two different stories happening throughout. It was easy to keep up with and written so it was also easy to read. This is a story where the chief of police’s wife takes it upon herself to check out the new neighbor in town. Then you have her son who takes on a mystery all of his own. I enjoyed the characters, they made the story fun to read and made it fast paced. This made a great afternoon read and I highly recommend reading it.

The Trouble with Paradise is a Madeline Dawkins Mystery by Cynthia Hamilton, the fourth in the series. I was drawn to it by the title, promising a gorgeous setting and captivating mystery. The book delivered on both fronts! Injured in a previous case, our heroine Madeline has just come back to her job as a PI. We get glimpses throughout that she is still healing physically and mentally, but she is determined not to be held back. She’s a likeable character, using her social skills to get (almost) everyone to open up to her whilst constantly processing things that don’t quite fit. Setting-wise, I particularly liked the ranch and vineyard! It was beautifully described, and such a great location being by the sea. I wanted to be there, tasting the wine and enjoying the view (as long as there weren’t any tragic accidents happening on that particular day…). Madeline and her partner Mike have two big cases keeping them occupied throughout the book. Both involve men dying in mysterious circumstances, leaving behind widows who aren’t satisfied with the official causes and reasons for their deaths. The pair of PIs try to approach both cases with open, fresh minds to discover the truth and ensure that justice is served. I really enjoyed this book – it gets five stars from me. I haven’t read any of the earlier books in the series but they’re on my tbr list now. The story made enough sense without them, but I’m sure they would have given me a lot more background on the central characters. I would recommend this book to fans of a good murder mystery, who will enjoy being transported to a beautiful Californian setting.

To say this story starts off with a bang might be a bit too literal. But the author sets the tone from page one and establishes strongly a historical context for our main character and the trappings of his present day life. I was immediately captivated by Joe’s character and anticipated quite a story to unravel beneath his many layers. I wasn’t wrong or disappointed. This book kept me guessing in all the right ways. If you like romantic suspense, with drama and emotion, this book definitely is worthy of picking up immediately.

Madeline Dawkins and her partner Mike take one not one but two cases for their PI business to work on in this installment of the series. One case is looking into a man’s suicide which his wife doesn’t believe he would have done it. The other is a wife accused of killing her husband where the crime just doesn’t seem to fit. I love seeing how much Madeline has grown in confidence and strength in each book. And Madeline & Mike’s relationship and how they work in tandem really makes the story flow.

Deception by Victoria Saccenti was an interesting new find for me as I had not read anything by this writer before. I love military and revenge stories so after reading the synopsis I decided to give it a go. Hunter and Joe are the leads in this story though there are quite a few important supporting characters as well. Joe is an ex-marine who is determined to take out revenge on Hunter who he thinks is to blame for Joe’s teammate having committed a combat suicide. The reality is actually much different and the writer takes us deep into the Dominant-Submission lifestyle with a great backstory and plot. Be prepared for sex and submission and secrets and … I have to admit that the end seemed a bit forced and you might also feel like as if we are missing something but overall it was an intriguing read that does not leave anyone cold!

I loved reading the book The Lightning Horse (Empire at Twilight Book 1) by N.L. Holmes. It is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning and I was turning pages to find out what happens next. It is a book that is exciting and enjoyable to read. The story has wonderful characters to read about. I liked the main character who is a young Hittite charioteer. He finds his life and family changed after a chariot accident. After it is revealed that what happened was sabotage, he becomes determined to find out what the saboteur is. Will he succeed? Read this book to find out. This story takes you back in time and to another land. The author does a wonderful job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. I felt like I was right there with them. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Don’t miss out on an intriguing and exciting story that you won’t be able to put down until the final page. I highly recommend it.

I loved reading the book Solstice Shadows: A VanOps Thriller by Avanti Centrae. It is a story that pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is an amazing thriller that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The story includes non-stop action, danger, and wonderful characters such as Bear Thorenson and Maddy Marshall. This book has them trying to stay one step ahead of those who want their mission to fail and have an evil agenda. Will Bear and Maddy be able to foil their plans? Read this story to find out. This is a book that has one speed, full-steam ahead. I grew to care about the characters of Bear and Maddy with each chapter that I read and was rooting for their success all the way through. I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I picked up Deception by Victoria Saccenti, but boy was I in for a steamy and fun ride! This is a new author to me but something about the cover and a few teasers really drew me in and I decided to give it a go. I didn’t expect the amount of steam and bdsm lifestyle that I got but I loved it. It is a difficult topic for me to read at times because I too live an active role in alternative lifestyles and sometimes these books can come across as anything but true and realistic to those that live the life. Saccenti did a wonderful job in my opinion of incorporating the characters lifestyles without letting it become overwhelming and the only thing the book is about. I was sincerely grateful for that and it will be bringing me back for more of Saccenti’s novels very soon!
This one has a strong main character, Joe, an ex-marine with vengeance on his mind. He is determined to find the person responsible for the death of a former brother in arms. I loved the side characters just as much as Joe and was really drawn into the character development as the story went on. I loved the suspense build and was on the edge of my seat a lot of the time wondering what would come next. I look forward to seeing what else is available from Saccenti while I await anything new!

This is the first book that I have read by this author and she has definitely left an impression on me! I devoured the book in one sitting and I loved every single minute of it. I loved reading about Joe and Hunter – both not what I was expecting as characters either which I really liked! Joe was probably as I would expect a dominant to be but I loved that he also had a back story to him and I enjoyed getting to know him. I really liked Hunter she could definitely hold her own – I found her character really interesting. It was fun to read about these two together. I have read a lot of D/s stories and sometimes they can be a bit repetitive but I really enjoyed the way the author wrote this story, it wasn’t repetitive or stereotypical, it was really great to read and I would highly recommend it. I cannot wait to read more from her in the future.

This was an incredible read, an absolute page-turner, and thrilling the whole way through. I loved Karina’s background as a Washington DC lawyer turned policy wonk, as well as the way Karina tries to work out what’s happening even as she makes plenty of mistakes. The mystery of the plot kept me going the whole way through, even with the elements of romance and crime. I love art heist fiction generally, but this one really grabbed my attention. I’ll definitely be reading anything else by this author!

The story takes place four months after the last book and the two detectives take on the cases of two wealthy men who have been found dead, one wife has been charged with one of the murders and is currently in jail but the other wife is adamant that her husband was murdered so Madeline and Mike start investigating.
As the story weaves through the book you get drawn into the mystery as you delve into the world of these two investigators. There are some shocking twists and the way the story has layers within the book you are guessing as you turn the pages to book to solve the mysteries.
I love this series and I would recommend reading the the other books first, although this story is a stand alone story there are other elements to the history of the main characters which weave through the first three books. I love the well developed main characters and the thriller aspect of the stories makes for a great read. I can’t wait to read the next installment and see how these two characters develop in the future.

Blue Magnolia (Red Farlow Mysteries No. 2) by W.F. Ranew. I love this book. It was so good I did not want to put it down. Its the story of up and coming Country Singer Hank Tillman aka Cowboy who has had his own troubles including DUI’s leaving him without a driver’s license. He is also famous for ending up in bar fights where he sings and gets thrown in jail. But things seem to be looking up for Hank with the fact that his new song has become a hit. With his song becoming a hit and him becoming known Hank falls into trouble when a radical group called the Blue Magnolia wants him to play at their hate rally and Hank really doesn’t want to. When Hank declines he finds himself in a ton of trouble and so he hires PI Red Farlow to help protect him. Will Red be able to help Hank stay out of trouble and will Hank continue to succeed or will the radical group get to him. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one.
I didn’t like this book as much as I’d hoped, as I have a little bit of a love affair with Scotland. However, the murder mystery itself was well-woven and detailed. The plot was a bit slow due to the imbalance between dialogue and narration. I still enjoyed the historical aspects and descriptions of Scotland. The accuracy and attention paid to the language and accents of the time also added to the realness of the story.

Set in 18th Century Scotland, the slaughter of Leith Hall, is a historical mystery. This is a third person story line told by Charlie Rob. He has worked for the Hall Leith family for years. If you like the history of other countries like scotland you will like this story. The character Charlie is determined to unravel the mystery. Not wanting to spoil your reading experience, but you will enjoy this.

This was a great novel and a storyline full of suspense which keeps you on the edge of your seat eager to find out what happens next. The storyline is well written and it really has a way of pulling you in and feel like your right along side the character’s. I usually read alot of romance novel’s but I do enjoy a cheeky mystery, action packed novel too and this one certainly didn’t disappoint I’m very eager to read more!!
This has been one series that I have loved and enjoyed from the first book. I highly suggest reading all the books in this series to help you see where the characters are coming from. This author has continued to impress me with books that pull me into a suspenseful-mystery from the beginning. They are engaging and the characters make the story easy to read. This book is no different. It is fast paced and a page turner. I had no problems connecting to the characters as they brought the story to life. Petrosky is back in another page turner. In this book not only is he fighting himself but one of the most dangerous types of killer. A woman is murdered but when a second woman is killed, he starts to wonder if there is a copycat. But when his boss is kidnapped the story takes on a new meaning for him. When he refuses to do what the kidnapper wants, he is faced with having only one chance to find the killer before he loses the one person who has been there for him. Will this case wake or silence his demons? You don’t want to miss this book and the twists and turns that will leave you turning pages to the end. I lost track of time with this book and felt I was right there. I highly recommend this book and this author.

The Trouble With Paradise is the fourth book in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. This series keeps getting better and better. This series is best if you read it in order. You will miss out on important backstory and they are all very good reads. Madeline and Mike really take us on an adventure in this new installment. The characters are growing as this series progresses and the story flows smoothly. I’m really glad I was introduced to this author and have put her on my must read list.

I love a good mystery and Ranew is certainly proving his talent knows no bounds as this series unfolds. I love the main characters – Farlow stumbles into another situation that is filled with intrigue and riveting detail. Cowboy is a fantastic character and one that filled every page he graced. I haven’t had a good mystery in my hands in a while and this is one book and series I will gladly pick up and read again very soon!
