Alamir is the first book in the Blood of Kaos Series by Nesa Miller. This is a bit of a darkish fantasy- with plenty of action, adventure, danger, paranormal elements, drama, twists, mystery, romance, wonderful world building, and intriguing characters.
As I have said before, Ms. Miller really knows how to weave an engrossing story- and has also created a really impressive, original, and entirely believable world in which to set her story. So descriptive and vividly detailed, it was really easy to ‘picture’ everything as the story was brought to life before my eyes.
These characters are all very interesting, fully developed individuals with their own personalities, quirks, and flaws. There is a fairly large cast of characters, but each plays their part wonderfully well, and adds interest to the overall storyline.
So, if you love a great fantasy, with intriguing characters, and a wonderfully exciting plot that will keep you engrossed the whole way through- then this is definitely the book for you.
A superb start for the series.

Alamir: Blood of Kaos by Nesa Miller is an exciting fantasy story with some really interesting characters. Etian is a strong and wilful heroine that is thrown unexpectedly into a world that she didn’t believe existed.
For me this book was made by the characters. I thought each of them had a unique take about them and they all worked together to make the story stronger. The overall writing itself I found to be a little disjointed although the story was exciting to read. It definitely felt like the first book in the series and I am convinced that it will only get better as the series goes on.
I am looking forward to see where the author takes this series and I am certainly looking forward to reading more of these brilliant characters.

I love it when you read a book unlike any other you have read before, this one for me was just that. Such a unique story I couldn’t put it down and was saddened when it came to the end. A great start to what I know will be a fantastic series. Nessa Millier sure knows how to drawn the reader in, a fantastic author who’s created such wonderful and complex characters you will love getting to know. I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series.

I enjoyed this fantasy story. It brings action and an adventure you won’t soon forget. This is my favorite by this author yet. One thing I enjoy about this author is how I am pulled into the story right from the beginning and this book is no different. This is a well written story that has characters that bring the story to life. I had no issues connecting to them. This is a story about Etain. She grew up with the stories and what she thought were fairy tales about Alamir. In truth these stories were more of a teaching for her destiny. She was taken in by a clan after an assassin took her family from her. Now she is determined to find the demon. Will one encounter mean life or death for her? I enjoyed her character alot. She is a strong character that made the story entertaining and easy to read. This is a dark fantasy that I highly recommend.

I loved reading the book Alamir (Blood of Kaos Series Book 1) by Nesa Miller. It is a story that grabbed my attention from the start, and I found myself hooked. It is a book that includes action and danger. The story is intriguing and entertaining. I loved both the storyline and the characters. Etain has to be my favorite character. She is strong, determined, and doesn’t back down. I also did enjoy reading about the additional characters that interacted with Etain. Each has their part to play in the book and I found them to be interesting. The author does an amazing job of world-building. I found it original and I enjoyed how it is introduced and expanded up during the tale. I found the story to be written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with the characters. Don’t miss out on an amazing journey that will have you turning pages to find out what happens next. I highly recommend reading it.

The Widow is s Dark Romantic Fantasy thst will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. I absolutely loved this book ,even when my emotions were all over the place. This story is about Vashti and Absalom , shes a widow and lives by herself until she takes Absalom in. Things are going well until a friend of his Simeon enters the picture . Their lives get turned upside down with the drama . How far is vashti willing to go to keep what she’s built safe? Find out what happens next in this absolute must read. The Widow: A Dark Romantic Fantasy by Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E. McEwen was a great 5 star read. I was pulled right in by the author’s writing. The further I got into the story the quicker the pages were turning so I could see what was coming next.

Vashti has lived alone since her husband passed away. Looking for companionship she decides to invite Absalom to stay with her. It works out great for the two of them, however when one of his friends shows up things take an interesting twist. Will they be able to keep their friendship intact or will Simeon interfere?

Overall I really enjoyed this read. I really loved the characters, they added so much to the story. We get mystery, dark elements, surprises and so much more that will pull you right in. The two authors did such a great job writing this story, I would love to read more from them. If you’re looking for a great read, I highly recommend this one. 1-click and get started today.

I give The Widow: A Dark Romantic Fantasy by Naomi Valkryie & Rebecca E. McEwen, 5 stars.

If I could write a one word review it would be: WOW.

This book is just incredible. I didn’t really know where the book was going, but I loved the journey it took me on and was pleasantly surprised each time something unexpected happened. I loved Vashti. Simeon and Absalom are also very good characters and great additions. I found the story so compelling and could not put it down. I was eager to see what happened next, but I could not rush through the book. I devoured this book — something I have not done in a long time. The fact that the story is so different from most romantic fantasies made me love this book even more. I reall h tsee kore of this world in the future.

If you are a fan of dark romantic fantasies, this book is for you.

The Widow: A Dark Romantic Fantasy by Naomi Valkyrie & Rebecca E. McEwen is a great read. I first was drawn to the beautiful and intriguing cover and title and the authors did not let me down. This book reads quickly but packs a lot into it. The characters and story revolving around Absalom and Vashti are fantastic. I really enjoyed the development of the story and their problem. I will not say anything concerning the plot because I do not want to wreck the story for anyone else. I tore through this book quickly and did not want to put it down. I look forward to reading more books by Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E. McEwen in the future.

This was a great story about a woman who’s loss of her partner ruled her life. Vashti’s life seems to be on hold since her partner Anton has passed but that all changed when she met Absalom.

Absalom is in college and falls on hard times when his girlfriend kicks him out. To help him Vashti offers him a place to stay but with certain conditions.

When his friend Simeon finds himself also homeless his friend offers him a home but could this be one person to many. Can Vashti’s secret remain secret or will one of her lodgers let it sleep.

This was a gripping story with a huge twist at the end that I didn’t see coming.

The Widow was a surprising book for me, but a very good surprise. I always love it when an author, or in this case authors, manages to take me by surprise.

Vashti lost her husband a year ago and is still carrying the weight of his death. She feels trapped and alone, but one day forces herself to make a change. She leaves her home to venture into the nearby town, and that’s where the story really begins. Vashti meets Absalom when he rescues her from a run in with an angry man she accidentally knocks into. In turn Vashti rescues Absalom too, he ends up staying with her when things in his life change and his well made plans are ruined. As the pair become closer things take a romantic turn, Vashti feels happiness after feeling empty for so long. When Absalom’s friend from college turns up, their new found peace is put at risk.

What drew me into this book was the beautiful, in depth descriptions at the start. I could feel Vashti’s pain and loneliness through the words in the book, and I was hooked. The story has some unexpected twists and turns, and you really feel as though you are taken on a journey with the characters. This is a short story that will leave you wanting more. Great if you want a story to read in one sitting.

The Widow: A Dark Romantic Fantasy by Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E. McEwen is quite a surprising little package- a dark and mysterious fantasy that is so much more than it first appears. I really don’t want to go into any detail as I don’t want to give away the clever and surprising twist that really gave this book an added element of intrigue.
The characters are really well developed with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. The scene setting and storytelling is quite rich, imaginative, and vividly descriptive. The authors have woven a lot into a relatively small amount of space, choreographing all the elements into quite an enthralling read. They also manage to infuse quite a lot of emotion into the storyline, making it easy to connect with the characters and invest in them and the outcome of their story.
Well Done! Looking forward to more!

The Widow: A Dark Romantic Fantasy by Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E McEwen is a really great story that will grab you on the very first page and won’t let you go until the end. The two authors’ writing styles blend together and make this book flow smoothly. Vashti, Absalom and Simeon are great characters and the story kept me wondering what could possibly come next. I really like these two authors and I’m going to put them both on my TBR list.

The Widow by Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E. McEwen was not at all what I expected. When I first started reading this story, I was immediately drawn in by the emotion portrayed by the main character, Vashti. The authors do a great job at getting the reader invested in her struggles and desires. Once you’re invested, the story takes a dark and mysterious turn. I really enjoyed reading this, and highly recommend it!

The Widow is an enticing romantic novel by Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E. McEwen. In it, we meet the beautiful and mysterious widow Vashti Paladin and gradually learn her secrets as she befriends students Absalom and Simeon.
In spite of its modern setting, The Widow definitely has a feel of the Gothic to it. Scenes reminded me of Northanger Abbey and Bluebeard’s Castle, but in this case our inquisitive young heroines were men. There’s a locked door which Simeon and the readers are both desperate to open and terrified of what might be behind.
It’s billed as a dark story, but has a warmth and a light to it that I wasn’t expecting. There’s a focus on found family and protectiveness – Vashti is private but kind to those she lets in.
The Widow is an engrossing read and gets five stars from me. I’d recommend it to fans of the Gothic who are eager to see gender roles reversed, and fans of paranormal romance. The twists and secrets will keep you turning the pages – I couldn’t put it down!

I really enjoyed this story! I loved how you knew something was different with our main female character but we don’t get an answer until later, so you’re left guessing what exactly it could be she’s hiding.
She was a likeable character and I was kept wondering what her end goal was and it wasn’t what i was expecting at all, in a good way!
I don’t want to give anything away, really I don’t but if you have an hour or so pick this book up and you won’t be sorry.

This is not my first book by these authors and it will not be my last. The plot-line is captivating. I felt myself turning pages faster than any other book. The characters are complex and real. I love the way Vashti’s character was portrayed. She has built herself a great life. She was alone in her home until and she took in a boarder, Absalom. Vashti was a private person when she took in Absalom. Where there is a person trying to break down what Vashti and Absalom what will happen to their lives? I highly suggest reading this book to see what happens.

The Widow is a great romantic fantasy by Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E. McEwen. I had never read any work by either of these authors so took a leap of faith in choosing to read this book. I’m so glad I took the plunge as I really enjoyed this story. It’s not a very long story and I was able to devour the whole book in 1 sitting.
The heroine of this story is Vashti who is getting over the death of her husband the previous year. She decides to take in a ‘roommate’ of sorts in Absalom. This book is their story.
This book is far from a traditional romance as Vashti and Absalom’s romance is far from traditional. I absolutely loved both of these characters. Vashti is rather eccentric and dresses as though she lives in the Victorian times and does not care what anyone else thinks of her. She is such a strong and vibrant character. I also loved Absalom, he’s such a sweet guy and has had such a hard time.
I loved how these two writers write so descriptively. You are given very detailed descriptions of each location and you can easily picture them in your head. I’d definitely love to read more by these authors.

This is a romantic story, filled with fantasy and an unbelievable darkside. Can I give 5 ☆s to each author? It was that good!

You will meet Vashti, Absalon and Simeon. Vashti is a new widow, Absalom has a cheating girlfriend, and Simeon, who is friends with Absalon. All 3 are strong and drawn to each other. Enter the Mansion, where friendships grow and fantasy turns real. Sorry, not sorry. No spoilers!

Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E.McEwen have written this story. It has a little bit of history. A whole lot of dark romance. This book will draw you in and keep you there, until the last page is read. I love the characters, you can’t help it though. I have read Naomi Valkyrie’s writings, but Rebecca E. McEwen is new to me. You can bet I will be looking for more!

This book drew me in because I could relate to the character, Vashti’s pain of growing weary of the world around her of loneliness and grief. No, I’m not a widow but I’ve been there where I’ve experienced both emotions but I loved where this book took the reader. The lives of the main two characters are disrupted with the entrance of another character who brings drama into their fold and their privacy is shifted but also to where it leads to unexpected changes that force their lives to take on drastically as it all unfolds. I hope this is the start of a series because the mystery captured my attention because you wanted to know more. The suspense kept me tuned in till the end to read it.

I was pretty excited to sit down and read The Widow, and I had high expectations. The best news is they were all met well beyond what I could have ever wanted. This is such a great short dark romance that I found myself engrossed from page one until the very last well into the night when I should have been in bed. The lack of sleep hangover the next day was so incredibly worth it though. I am anxious to see if we will get more dark romances from Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E McEwen in the future because I think these two have found quite a niche here. The concept was a bit different and new so the story was fresh and I never found myself bored. We meet Vashti as she is a widow who thinks she is ready to find love again. When she begins things with Absalom you wonder if things will be smooth sailing and do get off to a nice start. When a friend comes into play and stirs up trouble for the couple things get super interesting. I loved this book and I can’t’ wait to get my hands on more!

This is a short novella that can be read in one sitting. Though short, it is a compelling and dark story. Vashti has been mourning the death of her husband for a year. She decides to reintegrate herself into society and leaves the security of her mansion to venture into town. She eventually meets a college student down on his luck. Tired of being alone, she offers him room and board while he’s studying. Liking her privacy, there are rules he needs to follow. When he decides to help a friend, unexpected drama follows which she cannot tolerate. This is an intriguing story with unexpected twists. A definite must read!

The Widow by Rebecca E. McEwen and Naomi Valkyrie was a great novel! I highly enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick, very enthralling read. I could hardly put this book down when I started. I loved the characters and the plot line and storyline, and it was so much like two different times in history converged into one while I was reading this story. That was very interesting, in a way I’ve never read a book like that before. This is the first book I’ve read by McEwen, but not by Valkyrie, and so far it’s been my favorite! Kudos on this great read!

The Widow: A Dark Romantic Fantasy by Naomi Valkyrie & Rebecca E. McEwen. This is one of my favorite genres so I was super excited to read this and it did not disappoint. This is the story of Vashti who is grieving over the loss of her husband. She feels totally alone so one day she decides to go to town and she meets Absalom a college student. They get friendly and she ends up offering him a room in her house for his companionship. She even draws up a contract. Things are going quite well until Absalom’s friend Simeon comes into play. He brings all kinds of drama and just a ton of baggage. When Vashti starts to feel her perfect little safe life is being threatened she loses it. When Vashti comes up with a solution Absalom is not sure how he feels about the plan but he doesn’t really have a choice at the moment. This is such a good fast paced mystery. Get ready to buckle your seat belt because you are in for a great ride!

The Widow by Rebecca E. McEwen & Naomi Valkyrie

This is the first book I’ve ever read by Mrs. McEwen and Mrs. Valkyrie. They have done an outstanding job writing these characters. This book was hard to put down.

Vashti lost her husband and tried to figure out how to move on with her life. She is tired of sitting in the big house by herself. She ventures out to town and things start looking up. The quote I choose for Vashti is: “I know this is an unusual arrangement, but you will be taken care of in the event you should choose to end it. The only way you leave with nothing is if you violate the rules.”

Absalom, a college student, finds that life isn’t all it seems. He goes to a coffee shop and finds himself enchanted by Vashti. He finds himself in a sticky situation and is offered a good thing. The quote I choose for Absalom is: “You’re inviting a virtual stranger into your home? And you’re okay with that?”

Simeon, also a college student, finds himself in the middle of a situation. He goes to a friend hoping he can help out. When he is given the opportunity to stay with his friend things look up. The quote I choose for Simeon is: “Yeah, honestly, I do. You know, I’m really ashamed to say it, but I was expecting some freaky Night of the Living Dead kinda shit when I walked in the door here. It’s funny how you create judgments about people just because they dress weird or act other than what we would consider normal. I don’t want to know what people think about my family and me. Yeah, yeah, man, I have a good feeling about this.”

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good romance. It has a dark edge to it and it’s fantastic. This is a hard to put down novel and is a real page turner.

I enjoyed reading this book. At first, I was slightly surprised by how dark the book felt, but then it grew on me. The author used this dark feeling well making it easy to develop an empathy for the main character. Each character was well developed with their introduction. I liked how easy this book was to read. I was able to sit down and just get lost in the reading, without thinking. Before I knew it, this book was over. The varied sentence structure really helped me to stay focused. I like how the author changes the tone in this book. It is almost like you see the light and dark, which is a good play on real life with its ups and downs. I recommend checking this book out!

The Widow: A Dark Romantic Fantasy by Naomi Valkryie & Rebecca E. McEwen is a quick read. I enjoyed the story but found it a little slow in the beginning and by the time it picked up it was almost over. Having said that, the creative way Naomi and Rebecca have written the story you knew something was building but you just could not put your finger on it until it is revealed.

Being a recluse and private person, no one could guess what goes on behind closed doors.

Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E. McEwen did such a flawless job of pulling me from reality into the dark, slightly twisted world they created for Vashti and Absalom.
Vashti, alone and vulnerable in her grief, decides to try her hand at moving on, having no idea that Absalom was the man that would change everything for her. Their story was an absolute page-turner! I couldn’t’ put the book down until I was finished and then found myself yearning for more!
The Widow was my first time reading from both Naomi & Rebecca, but I can guarantee I will not be the last! I loved this story!!!!
