A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet #2)A Heart So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the series and it’s amazing!! It picks up where book 1 left off. In the second installment we get more of Kingston’s pov and inner dialogue that helps explain his sometimes over the top actions over Ava. Ava’s problematic brother comes in as well again and it’s possible Ms. Moran has redeemed him enough to give him his own book in the future. This is the end of this particular set but again, maybe she’ll give us some more in the future!!

This is the first book to the Savage Duet books and it is great. Ava is kidnapped by Kingston due to a debt that her brother owes. The problem is everyone around wants her too. This is a dark romance full of a jealous alpha and feisty woman. This does end in a cliffhanger but the second book is already out so no wait!!

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet #2)A Heart So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kingston and Ava have returned shortly after the events at the end of book 1. Ava continues to fall further into her confusion over her feelings for King. In his own way, he protects her – while he keeps her captive. There’s no doubt his “punishments” have taught her some things about her desires and her body. He breaks and rebuilds her time and again, yet she still yearns for freedom. Maybe not freedom from him, but freedom to at least make her own decisions once in awhile. Would she abandon Kingston if given the right opportunity? He has handled some threats against her and is working to solve some more, while keeping her locked up. If he has to handle extra danger to protect Ava and keep her safe, then so be it. But as much as he makes dark decisions, her safety is his main priority.

As you see some seriously terrible decisions being made here, you also get to learn about what King and Oliver had to endure as kids, and what a terrorist their father was within their own homes. It’s no wonder they don’t do better – they were never shown better, and the abuse they suffered changed them as people. Their father was the REAL monster, terrorizing his wives and children. We also learn throughout the book how King feels about Ava, and battling the actual love he holds for her – until she is seriously injured and King feels the terror of what his life would be like without her. What way will Ava’s decision go – is she going to accept King’s way and admit her desires, or is she going to get out? Will the Winter family be able to protect her from all of the dangers in her path?

A King So Savage (The Savage Duet #1)A King So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When Ava Blue was a sophomore in college, her parents died and left her and her brother Carson as orphans. Their parents were very wealthy and left them a hefty inheritance with multiple protectives put in place by their lawyer father to protect them from the impulsive decisions of youth. What they didn’t consider, though – was Carson’s hatred and mistreatment of Ava and dedication to blowing through every cent he could get his hands on. While he was living large, Ava paid only for bare necessities and saved her allowance from the inheritance and stowed it away.

We open the story with Ava coming to after being drugged and kidnapped by the men of Kingston Winter, the head of the Winter family brought up under his absolute tyrant of a father – until his stepmother shot him and then herself. Since then, Kingston has accepted the role of leader of the family, continued to amass massive fortunes, made decisions he didn’t want to but had to, and has wanted Ava Blue since he first set eyes on her as a teenager. Now, Carson has blown through a fortune, borrowed money from anyone willing to loan it, and owes the Winter family to the tune of 2.6 MILLION dollars. He kidnapped Ava as an excuse, hoping Carson doesn’t pay. Regardless, now that Ava is in his possession, he doesn’t intend to let her go.

There’s a lot happening in this book, and I’m constantly cheering on Ava as she taps into her inner wildcat. King is a man used to getting what he wants, no matter the consequences. In many instances, it is against the wishes of someone else and the situation with Ava is no different. Kingston is a gorgeous man, but absolutely brutal – he has no problem taking whatever he desires regardless of other peoples feelings about it, and he treats Ava no differently. In spite of his brutality, Ava is completely drawn to him and disgusted by him and his proposition. While he pretends to consider selling Ava and her virginity to recoup Carson’s debt to him, the reality is that he claimed her long ago. Will Ava resist her attraction and get away, or will King keep her?

This book is an incredible follow up to the first book and I could not wait to get my hands on it and start reading. This book is everything I was hoping for and I read it all in one sitting. It is just as dark, gritty and intense as the first book and I loved the further detail we get for the characters.
Kingston and Ava are not your typical couple, and are a couple that won’t be suitable for all readers. But for those who are a fan of this type of book, they are some of the best. I loved both of them because they weren’t perfect. They were flawed, dangerous and captivating. Their connection made them more real and I could have easily kept reading about them. This book was incredible and I would love to see more from this series in the future.

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet #2)A Heart So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ava is struggling to come to terms with her situation, lock in the fortress of Kingston Winter can’t be that bad but when she discovers that her brother has abandoned her and she is not getting out of the gilded castle she starts to drawn to Kingston.

Kingston has always collected things and Ava is no exception to the rule but when he has this compulsion and attraction to her he is more in protection mode and wants her to be his forever. All things are complicated her drives her too the point that although she hates him she can’t live without him also.

Can there situation move further into a relationship or is Kingston incapable of being that close to her or have his feelings brought out in the open?

This is the second half to the story and to be honest this is not a book to read independently, you will need to understand the back story to really appreciate this book and the dynamics between the two characters. As the first book the characters open up more and you get to see the true them in this story. Ava although in the first book I thought was strong and sassy shows more in this story and you get to she her strength and the struggles of understanding something is not right but having this obsession with Kingston was great to read.

Kington’s character would be classed as an a antihero but as you read more of his thoughts and desires in this story you get to understand him more as you read through the book. The chemistry between these characters is off the chart and will have you turning the pages to find out what happened next.

The story is well constructed and written brilliantly with the passion and chemistry just jumps off the screen. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

In this book we got to see more of what Kingston and his brother Oliver’s relationship was like. Ava is afraid of Oliver and she has good reason to be. Even though Kingston makes threats against her, he still wants to protect her. Ava still wants her freedom, but her growing feelings for Kingston are making her second guess whether that is what she truly wants. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one. I started reading this on my lunch break at work and couldn’t wait to get home to finish the book.

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 2) by April Moran

A Heart So Savage is the second book in The Savage Duet. This is a Dark Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. I do highly suggest reading the first book in this duet as this picks up right where book one leaves us. I also want to warn there may ne some triggers in this story but if you can push through them it’s worth trying. I loved everything about this book. It’s raw, loaded with danger, suspense, plenty of steamy sex and so much more. Ava and Kingston these two frustrated me at times but man oh man. He’s claimed her and she’s being held as payment for a huge debt her brother owes him. You guys are in for quite the ride. Hang on tight. I don’t want to give away anything. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

A Heart so Savage by April Moran is book two in the Savage Duet. I’m going to be honest, when I first started this duet I was taken aback by Kingstons abrasiveness. Obviously that is a part of who he is but even in the leu of that, I grew fond of his character, his loyalty and his protectiveness. As for Ava, she is so much stronger than she knows. And even though she has so much to deal with in this book, she absolutely always comes out on top. The author knows just how to keep you wanting more. I believe this is the first set of books where both characters were “talking” in the same chapter/throughout the entirety of the book. I really liked that narrative and it was easily followed. I’m sad that their story is over but man was it one intense ride and I loved every single second! Would definitely recommend to anyone who has an open mind because it truly was a great duo!

This is the first of a duet. There are several trigger warnings that accompany this book so I definitely recommend reading reviews and looking for the triggers to ensure that you are good with this book.
That being said, this was a fantastic start to a duet. It features to characters that are incredibly well developed and definitely keep this story moving. Ava is an interesting character who really doesn’t know the danger she is in. Kingston is really a very deep and dark character. He is obsessed with Ava and his path crosses with her. Ava’s family is also incredibly complicated which also makes this book interesting. This book was absolutely fantastic and I cannot wait to read the next book in this duet.

This is the second book in The Savage Duet and just wow. I enjoyed this first book in this dark romance and you definately need to read them in order but this book was everything I wished for and more. This is a dark romance with a very dominant dangerous man but what I love is the female lead is incredible. Even though she bends and submits to him she never loses herself completely and she tests her boundaries over and over again.

We are back with Ava and Kingston as they try to navigate their way through their feelings for each other while Kingston trys to protect Ava from everything and everyone wanting to cause her harm. With the truth of what finally happened to Ava’s parents out in the open she wants revenge on her brother but by seeking her own revenge is she placing herself in danger.
With Kingston already on the war path trying to destroy every man that harmed Ava, he knows he will eventually get to her brother but will Ava trust him to do that or will she be the stubborn person he knows she is and risk everything. And what will happen when their enemies are defeated? When offered her freedom will Ava take it or will she want to remain with the man who has captured her heart as well as her body.

This is a dark romance so some parts maybe a bit of a trigger for some readers. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

This is a continuation of The Savage Duet. The book picks up where we were left in the previous book. I enjoyed this book more than the first one since there was a bit more action and you can see King finally giving in to his feelings. Having to wait for the second book was torture but I’m happy that it was better than expected. I was unable to put it down and read it in a day. I’ll definitely be reading more books from this author.

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet #2)A Heart So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kingston only returned when Ava was asleep. Ava was afraid of Oliver. She also knew that she was owned by Kingston since Carson refused to pay his debt. Despite his claim over Ava, Kingston didn’t have sex with her. He would leave during the day and Ava was allowed free roam of the house with Paulie or Jack following her. One afternoon, Kingston told her to stay in the game room since he was having a meeting with Oliver and other men. That afternoon Kingston took Ava’s virginity. Just as he was dressing himself, a call from his guards brings Kingston running. Ava tricks Jack and finds that Detectives from Bitter Springs are at the door. Ignoring Kingston’s instructions, Ava eludes her guard and comes downstairs where the two detectives are. Is she going to escape Kingston?

April Moran’s second book in the duet, A Heart So Savage continues Ava and Kingston’s unorthodox relationship. Every interaction is a struggle between Ava and Kingston. While their attraction grows, Ava still wants the freedom to choose how she lives. Kingston knows she isn’t safe without him. If he had told her what was happening up front, she might have been more receptive. But that isn’t how the Winter family operates. The ending threw me for a loop. The unpredictable twists build suspense to an intolerable intensity. Involving several steamy scenes and showing the vulnerabilities that both characters try hiding, this is definitely a five star book and duet.

This book was so unexpected in a good way. I could not put it down. Savage is a very apt description of so much in this story, it is not for the faint of heart. I’m not one that typically likes degrading in any way but there’s a sort of redemption that makes it not so bad. I’m a fan of BDSM novels so I understand the dynamic that is trying to be achieved. Even though I’m not a fan of some aspects I understand the background of Kingston and Ava and I love the author’s creativity! I absolutely could not wait to be able to read more every day and I’m sad I don’t gave a release date yet on book 2!

A Heart So Savage is the second book (and conclusion to) The Savage Duet by April Moran. As this continues on from where Book One left off, I highly suggest reading ‘A King So Savage’ before starting on this one as otherwise you will be missing important storyline information, as well as character introductions and other relevant details that you will need to know in order to fully appreciate this second book, and the duet as a whole.
It is another gripping dark romance that captured my attention right from the very first page. Full of angsty drama, chemistry, steam, emotion, secrets, danger, debts, abduction/captive, family dynamics, agendas, tension, intrigue, and so much more.
As we discovered in book #1, when the King is owed money- he will ensure that the debt will be paid, one way or another. Unfortunately for Ava, her brother owed King, big time. And when he doesn’t pay up – she is held accountable. Either her brother pays, or she will. No one messes with the King. Things get more complicated as their chemistry ignites. With other agendas in play, the story took quite a tense turn and as things unfold here- I was reading as quick as I could, flipping pages, just to find out what happens. There were intense, gripping moments, and some frustrating moments where I wanted to shake someone, as well as times when the screen of my Kindle steamed up from all the heat coming off the pages. And I was completely invested, through it all.
Definitely worth the read! Intense. Steamy. Dark. Delicious.
Can’t wait to see what Ms. Moran does next- it’s bound to be great!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, April Moran!

I was so excited to read this book – part 2 of the savage duet.

April has outdone herself…. Amazingly hot sex scenes and the continuation of the story of Ava and Kingston with realistic characters, Domination and submission and the subsequent falling in love of the main characters.

This is only the second book I have read by April and I am loving her style and will be looking up her other books. Always great to find another hot author.

This book picks up right where the first book left off at. This book is full of suspense, action, dark romance, twists and turns and more. This first book left us on a bit of a cliffhanger so I was happy to read that this story answered a lot of questions. I still felt like there were times I wanted to yell at Ava for being an idiot but there were also times that I can understand why she acts the way she does. I am pleased to find that Kingston does have a heart after all. It was intriguing to watch Kingston go through so many different emotions while trying to understand his feelings toward Ava. I was completely taken in by these characters and the storyline needing to know what was going to happen next. This author did a great job giving me some unexpected moments in this book. I became invested in the outcome of this story. I look forward to reading more by this author. I recommend this book.

She thought there was a turning point between them where he started having feelings for her but all that crumbles around her when he begins being cold again. Making sure Ava knows her place, but Ava knows he has to feel something. Can the cold hearted man actually feel the same way?

Dark romance that has you guessing on which path the story will take. The chemistry crackles between King and Ava, you want them to work but you are not sure how it will go. Intense story that had me captivated. A really wonderful duet.

You need to read the first book in this series prior to this one for context!

This book is as dark and twisted as the previous one. Now that Ava and Kingston both know that Ava’s brother will not be paying the ransom, decisions must be made. And there are people waiting for them to make the wrong ones. As time passes, and their feelings towards each other seem to be growing stronger, are the decisions they are making the right ones? There is a lot of backstory in this book regarding Kingston and Oliver…and why they are the way they are.

I enjoyed every morsel of this book…the spice, the chaos, the protectiveness, and the darkness. You can feel Ava’s anguish about trusting her own feelings…the protectiveness from Kingston…and the craziness of Oliver. I thoroughly enjoyed this duet and am crossing my fingers (and toes) that Oliver will get his own book next!

There are warnings for trigger content so make sure to read that before reading this story.
A Heart So Savage is the second devilish book in The Savage Duet and just like the first book A King So Savage it is gritty, raw, bloody, and deadly. Some of my favourite things in dark romances and April does it so well. I can’t get enough.
It is a captivating dark romance that will set you on fire. The characters are complex and intriguing and make the story.
Ava is a prisoner of his twisted mind and world. He is dark intense, dominant, possessive, and an utterly irresistible man. She knows what needs to be done and he just has to let her.
King is a dark, violent and sadistic alpha male of the underworld. He is someone you will love to hate and hate to love.
He will do anything to protect her in his own twisted way, but she may just be the one that saves them both.
It is a captivating romance tale with darkness, possessiveness, obsessiveness, angst, drama, violence, emotions, secrets, danger, secrets, danger, and so much more.
This is one duet that you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait for more of this genre from April.

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet #2)A Heart So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 2 of the Savage Duet.

Ava is the main character and is “a lost girl searching for a safe place to belong.” Because aren’t we all a little lost, looking for a place to belong? This story certainly hits all the feels. Even Ava is confused by her feelings as the story progresses. I love the way this story develops and how the characters’ feelings shift.

“Hatred and despair had morphed into something else…something savage.”

Kingston doesn’t seem as mean in this story, but we do learn more about his enemies, well Ava’s enemies. It seems Kingston was right about those wanting to hurt her. But it’s the who that adds to the twist of the knife!

Again, this author touches on some subjects that may cause questions within the reader. Anger, fear, repulsion, concern, lust, interest, confusion to name a few. This duet is violent, sexy in a rough way, and being a romantic at heart I can see the hope building for a happily ever after.

A heart so savage was a great ending to Ava and Kingston’s story. The conclusion was so good. I couldn’t put the book down. So many questions were answered and there was so much suspense and action. Wow. I want to say, I didn’t see that happening but I kinda did. Just not to that extent. Shocked is an understatement. This boon had it all. It was emotional, hot, and just all together crazy. I love Kingston and Ava and love how Kingston says she was always his from that day he saw her in her parents kitchen. He was like a man obsessed. I’m so glad he did what he did by stealing Ava for Carson’s debt. The last few chapters had me doing crazy. Ava is one head strong girl and is perfect for Kingston. I couldn’t picture him being with anyone else but her. I must say, I might even have a tiny soft spot for Oliver now. Another great read. I’m so glad I was able to read the savage duet. It was pure perfection

This book packed just as much of a punch as the first in this duet. Ava is still being held hostage by Kingston but the action starts and things begin to change as the story goes on. I found the action and family/mob drama to kind of exciting throughout the story. The spicy romance level is off the charts but there is a darkness to it. The story had a fairly smooth flow throughout the whole piece. I found the whole duet to be good overall. This is definitely mean to be read together, not as a standalone.

Kingston Winter is pretty ruthless, or as the title suggests savage. He kidnaps our female lead, Ava Blue because her brother owes him over 2 million dollars. Never mind that she doesn’t speak with her brother. Kingston uses her as a pawn to get her brother to pay him back, but would he really allow another man to take what he feels is his? He is fairly possessive of Ava, but he has followed through on other threats so it’s hard to say that he wouldn’t do such a thing. Avas has stayed strong and fought back every step of the way. While her feelings also become evident, will she run for freedom at the first chance or stay with the man she is coming to love? This was a great book that I couldn’t put down. I enjoyed the characters very much. I can’t wait to get down time so I can start book 2.

April enjoys writing both historical and new adult romance with a generous splash of heat. When not penning tales of passion, she enjoys traveling with her husband, attending rock concerts with friends, and time spent with family. Brainstorming new storylines is best done while riding her horse or during long walks with her German Shepherd. A tumbler of good whiskey helps tie all the details together and brings her characters to life.

A King So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 1)

I’m sitting here trying to come up with something more than WOW! This is a dark cliffhanging romance that may not be for everyone. I enjoy reading them from time to time depending on what I have been reading, always nice to change it up and this is definitely very different than the last several books I have read.

Ava and Kingston are definitely not your common characters. Ava is light where Kingston is dark. I liked Ava immediately with the fight she had in her, Kingston is a different story but there is obviously more to him than we know at this point and maybe more than he knows about himself.

Thankfully I don’t have to wait too long to read the next book, patience isn’t something I have when I’m this invested. Looking forward to seeing how this all plays out.

WOW! I absolutely adored every single page of this marvelous dark romance! I had only read one book by this author before, but it had blown me away so much that I clearly remember their name when this one popped up. There was zero hesitation in giving this book a chance. There is so much drama, suspense, angst and all the steamy scenes throughout and I may have yelled at Kingston a time or two. Reading about him and Ava had me feeling every emotion under the sun. I also like that the author included a playlist which always intrigues me. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming but I won’t give anything away! I cannot wait to pick up the second book, but while we’re waiting for it, I highly recommend getting lost in this one!

A King So Savage (The Savage Duet) by April Moran – Review by Jessica Stone

This book was terrific, I loved every single moment of it to be honest. If you looking for a spicy, reluctant, forced proximity, touch her and die, contemporary dark twisted romance, this is the book for you. I honestly didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but it defiantly gave some Den of Vipers/Haunting Adeline vibes with the main characters King’s obsession with his captive Ava. This story was masterfully done, the relationships between characters were steamy, an antsy, dark and dangerous, it really just checked all the boxes for me. King being this kind of morally gray character and Ava being portrayed as this naive girl, who should known better but somehow doesn’t and coming to terms with who she really is as she grows throughout this book under Kings dare I say tutelage was enjoyable to read.

The premise of this story is basically Ava is kidnapped by King to pay off her brothers debt to him. They know each other from the past, he’s always been attracted to her but never acted on that attraction, until now.
I will say this isn’t for the faint of heart and by that I mean make sure to check out the trigger warning provided by the author but don’t let them dissuade you from reading this book. If you do, you are definitely missing out.

I don’t know much about this author, but this book was very well written in my opinion, it flowed cohesively, the plot and story were there and the “romance” was just right. I’m absolutely interested in reading more from this author if this is what her writing is like. Once I picked this booked up it was a struggle to put it down and do other things with my day, I devoured this book.

What a story to finish my 2023 reads with. I loved this story from beginning to end. It was exciting, dark, dangerous and so much more. I have to say I LOVED Ava! She was so fun to read about. She was not going to lie down and take whatever King threw at her, she definitely had a backbone and stood up to him. King is one of those characters that you know you shouldn’t like but can’t really help it – he is dark and he is absolutely a villain – he is not a nice person but his protectiveness of Ava to some extent makes him a little bit likeable. The cliff-hanger at the end has me eagerly anticipating book 2!
