A King So Savage (The Savage Duet #1)A King So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow what can I say about this book. It had me gripped from the first page and didn’t let go. It is book 1 in The Savage Duet and I definately can’t wait to read the second part.
The is a very dark romance. The main male character Kingston is a very dark character. Some may even call him sadistic. When it comes to Ava he is very controlling and he wants her complete submission no matter what it takes to get it.
Ava is also a strong character. I love how feisty and determined she is to protect herself and defend herself however even all Ava’s strength and determination can’t stop her from falling for the one man she hates and dispises.

Ava and Kingston’s paths crossed years earlier when Ava was a young teenager. Ever since that day Kingston was wanted her but out of respect for her father he never made a move. Now with Ava’s brother owing him money he sees his opportunity to finally get the woman he wants whether she is willing or not.
It’s simple if Ava’s brother pays off the debt he will release Ava, if the debt isn’t paid then Kingston will sell her to the highest bidder. However as feelings start to grow Kingston realises that no one is ever going to have her but him.

However Ava isn’t as willing to go along with this plan. When she is kidnapped she tries everything in her power to escape and she proves herself to be defiant to every things Kingston tells her to do. However it’s not long before she can no long deny how her body reacts to him and as much as her head is telling her to fight against it and him, her body is rebelling at every turn.

This is a dark steamy romance with some topics some people may not enjoy reading. There is the captive/abductor story as well as violence that some readers may feel triggered by.
Overall for me I loved it. The whole cat and mouse feeling to it and how they both tested each other is really what captivated me in the story. I can’t wait for the next one

Although it took a bit to get into, once I got into it. I could not put it down. I devoured the last 50% + in a night / morning. I cannot wait to read the second part. Watching Ava change and her character development was amazing!! My heart broke for her a few times but it did for Kingston also. They honestly are perfect for one and other in a very complex way. The book is dark and definitely intended for mature adults. Enemies to lovers! Which can be very triggering. April’s writing style is unique but it was great. Bring on #2!

Ava Bella Blue is taken as collateral due to her brother’s massive debt he owes to Kingston Vaughn Winter. Kingston gets to decide Ava’s fate but in the meantime that doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy himself. What will he decide to take from Ava?

I enjoyed how strong Ava is and how much she fights Kingston to get free of his clutches. Kingston is strong, dominating, and controlling. He won’t take no as an answer. The viewpoint changes between Ava and Kingston so you can get deep into the action. The scenes are good but since it is dark it puts me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read the next book since it ends on a minor cliffhanger.

A King So Savage was the first book I’ve ever read by April Moran as well as the first book in the Savage Duet. Having never read this author before, I wasn’t sure what to expect but found myself impressed quickly. The story picks up immediately and leaves you invested until the cliff hanger ending. This is not a book trope I choose to read often so I
welcomed the change of pace. I have read so many books lately that are written in alternating perspectives, I enjoyed that this book wasn’t written that way. While the book was fast paced, dark and entertaining, my favorite aspects were the little things like the playlist at the beginning of the book and the
way each chapter begins with italicized phrases. I look forward to reading book two.

A King So Savage (The Savage Duet) by April Moran

A King So Savage is the first book in The Savage Duet and is a wonderfully written Dark Romance/Mafia Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. There’s plenty of drama, secrets, debts, danger, chemistry, family drama and so much more. King is the kind of man that gets what he wants when he wants it. King has wanted Ava a while now. Now is his chance to have her since her brother owes him a huge debt. King decides to take her. He’s a lot dangerous and even a bit intense but I love his character. Ava’s a strong independent woman who should be terrified of King but something about him draws her to him. Put these together and sparks fly! I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to diving into book two.

It moved at a good pace. The locations were well detailed. I could picture everything very clearly. Hopefully in the next book she gets some revenge. I struggled to get through the noncon scenes. I expected to grow to understand or care for Kingston but it never happened.

Kingston Vaughn Winter saw a chance to finally have Ava Bella Blue in his grasps, kidnapping and holding her captive while her brother neglects to pay his debt. King finds himself enjoying Ava’s attempts to leave, in some ways she is just as ruthless as he is. King finds himself being protective with Ava but when she is put in danger on his watch he will do everything he can to claim her as his.

The blurb was what pulled my attention on this story. It is dark and once you start reading you cannot put it down. I liked Ava, she could have easily rolled over and waited for what happens but she gives King a run for his money. Great chemistry, can’t wait for the second book.

A King So Savage (The Savage Duet #1)A King So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A delicious and devious way to start the duet. There are so many characters that you don’t know how you feel about them until. There are many theme and trigger warnings with this one so be sure to pay attention. This one is way too good to not finish.

Ava leads a boring life. Her boyfriend is nice. Her job is fine. She is scraping by. But it is not that easy. Her brother is kind of a jerk. He has spent his way through the family fortune and is racking up huge debts he can’t pay.

Kingston has always known who and what he is. His father left no doubt or way he could be anything but. When Ava crossed his path the first time, she was too young and he wasn’t ready. Now he has a chance-ish to be with Ava, the girl that has haunted his dreams since she was just a knobby-kneed teen.

Thanks to her brother and unbeknownst to Ava, Ava was about to be sold to the highest bidder to cover some of the money the brother owes some bad people. Kingston just steps in first and takes Ava. Now he is holding her until the brother pays. The problem is twofold. One, Kingston wants Ava. Two, the brother doesn’t really want to pay the money back.

How will Ava escape with her mind and body intact? Does she really want to? Who can you trust when everyone else is looking out for themselves and using you to get what they want? Can you trust the one person that wants everything but is willing to give nothing in return? Or is no one and nothing what they seem? Hang on to your knickers while you find out.

I really wanted to like this one. It’s your typical trope of kidnapping the sister of a man who owes you money while driving her mad with lust and the ending on a cliff hanger. I think for me, there just needed to be a bit more editing. For those who are fans of this trope and genre, you will enjoy it. It just wasn’t for me.

A King So Savage (The Savage Duet #1)A King So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book has really dark undertones, but what the author did with it was pretty good. A King so Savage, was added to my reading list because I’m familiar with the author. And since I wasn’t feeling that great today, I figured I’d wrap up in a blanket and give it a go. It did take me all day because I wanted to sleep a few times, but I’m glad I pished through.
Ava has been taken. Taken by a ruthless man who intends to use her for random against her brother. What this man doesn’t understand is her brother could careless about her. So she fights to escape. She also fights the twisted feelings she feels for him.
Will she ever get away?
Kingston has a plan, and Ava is the center of it. He caught wind that her brother intended to auction her off to pay his debts, well he can’t let that happen. So he took her instead. With the exact same plan if her brother refuses to do anything about it. One problem, he wants her for himself. Her feistiness fuels his sadistic nature. But she’s an innocent flower, he can’t follow his desires. Or can he?
The rollercoaster ride this book put you on is a lot. A lot of passion! A lot of pain! If you can handle both of those topics you should dive deeper into this story like I did. It’s a duet so be prepared for another book to read after. Enjoy!

A King so Savage by April Moran is the first book in a Duet. This is April Moran’s debut into the Dark Mafia Romance world and it did not disappoint. Check your trigger warnings before reading as some themes may be uncomfortable for some readers. Also, if you are into it there is a playlist that goes along with the book that can be found linked in the beginning pages of the book. This story follows Kingston Winter and Ava Bella Blue. Kingston takes Ava captive because of a large debt owed to him by her brother. This beautifully written story will leave you with all the emotions. You will be frustrated and angry, as well as hooked and surprised. These characters are flawed and well written. Making this story enthralling and spicy. 4 out of 5 Stars.

Kingston prides himself on making those that defy him pay….and when Ava’s brother owes him money, he takes her as collateral. However, this has been in the making for years and his obsession with Ava makes this captor/captive situation anything but normal. It follows the same flow that numerous dark romances in this genre…but it was still an interesting read. The way the book ends leaves you with a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more.

Ava is a strong character, while Kingston is a hard character to like. He is definitely the villain in the story and wears the title proudly. I found myself turning the pages and time passing without noticing. I will definitely be checking out the next book as soon as I can.

How could she explain an attraction that shouldn’t exist? ~ Ava

This whole entire book has me feeling this way. Kingston is mean, deranged, broken and well, savage. He is the type of character that sees something he wants, and he takes it. There is no price limit, everything and everyone can be bought. Kingston has the funds, the means, and the ability to acquire anything and everything he wants. He wants Ava. So, he takes her. He uses her sleazy brother’s debt as the reason for taking her but throughout this story there is a deeper feeling, a deep fascination that Kingston has with Ava.
Ava is all that is good. Is she perfect? Not really but she is close. She is a little naive in the world around her. But I like to think she lives in her own little world, trying to make a good life for herself while not causing harm to others. She is not skilled or even very knowledgeable about the world that her brother and Kingston live in. Crime, greed, violence, death. While she has known of Kingston most of her life, she doesn’t know him, until now. Which brings her much confusion. He has basically kidnapped her from her mundane safe life. And brings out feelings she didn’t know she had.

This author touches on some subjects that may cause questions within the reader. Anger, fear, repulsion, concern, lust, interest, confusion to name a few. This story is violent, sexy in a rough way, and being a romantic at heart I can see the underlying hope for a happily ever after. Even if the HEA means these two characters are far away from each other. This story is the first part of the duet so there is not a HEA …not even a happily ever after for now…

Already starting the 2nd part of this duet because the writing is so addicting.

This was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. Ava is taken by Kingston due to her brother’s debts. Ava is a strong character that definitely called to Kingstons dark desires. Ava is drawn to his dark and dangerous side. And boy do we get some hot and steamy moments.

Overall I really enjoyed this book.We get betrayal, danger, very dark, secrets and so much more. We get dual POV which I love so we can see what both of them are thinking. The author does a great job with her writing and I didn’t want to put it down until I was done. We do end on a cliffhanger since there is a part two and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. This book grabbed me from the beginning. This is a true dark mafia story. Please heed the trigger warnings if you feel you need to. I was completely drawn into this book with its drama, suspense, angst, chemistry, murder, great characters and more. King and Ava have definite chemistry but she hates him and he’s obsessed with her and he keeps going back and forth about what he wants to do with her. Both Ava and King have had a rough time in their lives and it has affected how they are as adults. This author has a way with words that make understand the feelings the characters are going through. This book leaves you on a bit of a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read book two. I recommend this book.

So this is the first book in The Savage Duet Series. In this book, we learn about Ava Blue who is taken captive by Kingston Winter. This book contains violence, adult situations which may not be suitable for all readers. Kingston Winter is the villain in this story but he could also be a hero at times. Ava Blue was kidnapped to pay a debt owed by her brother Carson. Carson Blue owes Kingston 2.6 million dollars and Kingston wants his money or he will take Ava and auction her off to the highest bidder. You will love to hate Kingston throughout this story. I actually can’t wait to read book 2 bc of where this book left off. I promise you that this book is worth the violence and adult situations that arise in it. Do you think Carson will pay off this debt to get his sister out of King’s clutches or does he even care that his sister is caught in the middle of his troubles? Read to find out for yourself,  I am not going to give away the answer…

I absolutely loved this book. It’s not for the faint of heart. Lots of triggers for some I guess but, it made the book that much better. Definitely a dark read. I love how Kingston knows who Ava is. He didn’t just have his men grab a stranger to hold captive until someone pays his debt. Kingston knows Ava and her brother. He also knows what her brother is capable of and just how Ava is pretty much a sitting duck in this whole book. Kingston might be holding her captive to use her to pay off her brother debt but, if he didn’t get to Ava first l, someone else might’ve and as much as Ava fights Kingston and tried to escape, the reality is, she’s safer with him then anyone else. He’s very protective of her and won’t let anyone else near what’s his and right now, she is his to do with as he pleases. Ava is his little lamb who can be quite feisty when she wants to be. She doesn’t just sit there and wait to see what happens. She tries to find ways to escape even though that’s the worst thing she can do. I cannot wait to see what the next book has in store for the readers. This was definitely a 5 star read for me.

Kingston aka King is owed money by Ava’s brother. So he kidnaps her to try to get her brother to pay up the millions that he owes.

Meanwhile he locks Ava in a cell and tries to fight his overwhelming attraction and affection towards her. Lots of action packed sex scenes without actually having penetrative sex so Ava’s virginity remains intact.

A King so Savage by April Moran is book one in the Savage Duet. My goodness there was so much happening in this book. There was no dipping your toes in the water, we were tossed overboard within the first few pages. It is extremely dark and likely difficult for some to read. However, i was utterly addicted and needed more! Kingston is not a good man. He is dangerous, feared and downright scary… But he’s also incredibly gorgeous. Ava is completely screwed. Her brother owes millions to Kingston and that’s when he decides to use her for payment. Again, this is nowhere near a regular romance, it’s dark, edgy and downright scary but hot. I’m dying that to that ending and i need more!

Holy cow Batman did this book did a number on me. I would definitely check the trigger warning before reading this book cuz it does get pretty dark. I love and hate King, but oh man does he dance and wave the red flags all over this book. I love my morally grey characters, but I wanted to shake King so bad in this book. Ava is such a sweetheart and I feel for her in this book. She has lost her parents in a tragic car accident, her brother does not treat her like a sister, but someone to profit off of, and then she is kidnapped because her brother uses her to wipe his debts clean with King. The cliffhanger at the end, made me wanting more but it was more like a small jump into a lake rather being pushed off a cliffside. I really enjoyed the story, the characters were great, the storytelling was absolutely amazing, and I can’t wait to see this wrapped up in book 2 of the duet!

This is an amazing dark read romance. I am such a huge fan of this genre that I couldn’t wait to get started on this book. I was not disappointed. The way the book is written, you can’t help but fall in love with the characters and yes that even includes the villain. This book has everything from the bad boy anti-hero to the horrible past but very resilient and strong girl. The crazy brother thrown in makes for an entertaining story. There is one flaw in the book but it didn’t dismiss from the story or how quickly I read it. The flaw is that sometimes the leading female doesn’t know when to stop “poking the hornets nest,” so to say. She seems to be a little naive to the situation that she is in and can’t quite control what comes out of her mouth. It was a little off putting at first but the further I read the more endearing it became. This was a fast paced read for me because it has everything that I love. The suspense, romance, drama, violence, morally grey lines being tested, and wonderful character development. I was able to escape my everyday surrounding for a few hours while I got lost in this book. I can’t wait to read the second part of this duet. I have a feeling I am going to love that one more than this one because it is a confutation of what I just started.

Kingston King is not the type of man you want to cross, so when Ava’s brother owes a large sum of money to him he takes action.

He decides to show he means business and kidnaps Ava as collateral for her brother to pay back his money, but when everyone notice Ava and Kingston starts to feel an attraction to her, he has to touch her all the time but this woman may look feeble but she has a bite which excites him but as this goes on his prisoner is attracting looks from his men and with the battles within will either destroy him or make him stronger.

His obsession maybe the thing that breaks him.

This is the first book by this author I have read and I really enjoy the story and the characters. Kingston is a Alpha character who you at first hate as he shows no redeeming qualities at all, but as you read through the story there are snippets of the person he is with Ava, he shows some compassion and you can see his idea of love.

I love a strong female character in a story especially when you think she will be a whimpering female in distress but she gave Kingston as good as he gets with her fire and determination. The story was well written and developed and the main characters had all the angst of a good dark romance, the secondary characters gave the story another depth to the story.

I can’t wait to read part 2 and see what happens to these two broken characters and can they make it work between them.

Kingston has always wanted Ava and has kidnapped her, using her brother’s debt of $2.6 million as his reason. His brother, Oliver, had drugged her in an elevator. Oliver wants to violate her, but Kingston warns him that nobody can touch her. Ava fights by using a paperweight to cut his face. While struggling to get away, there was a loud pop that caused her to scream. Dr.Abbott has to treat Ava while he keeps her in a cell. He didn’t like the situation, but he was loyal to Kingston. Ava wakes up from being sedated by the doctor. She hasn’t been given food yet, and she doesn’t know how long she has slept. Kingston brings her food and wants her to clean up. When Ava doesn’t respond and doesn’t try to eat, Kingston forces her into the tub and washes her. Humiliated at her situation, she relents by eating. Ava attempts to escape again when Dr. Abbott comes to check her sprained wrist. Kingston, who caught her in the woods, decides he is going to have to punish Ava for her repeated acts of defiance.

This is a slow-burn romance, with April Moran building suspense. There is a subplot that runs where there is resentment from Kingston towards Oliver, as well as Oliver’s hatred towards Kingston. Dr. Abbott doesn’t like the treatment of Ava, but whatever darker dealings the Winter family is involved in prevents him from helping Ava escape her captivity. The cliffhanger ending has me eager to read the sequel, and I wonder if Carson will make an attempt to steal Ava back. However, I don’t know if Carson is really a better option for Ava since he has little regard for her beyond her inheritance money. With a cliffhanger ending, I am eager to read a sequel to this fast-paced story.

A King So Savage is the first book in The Savage Duet by April Moran. It is a gripping dark romance that not only captured our fmc- but definitely captured my attention right from the very first page. Full of angsty drama, chemistry, steam, emotion, secrets, danger, debts, abduction/captive, family dynamics, agendas, tension, intrigue, and much more.
When the King is owed money- the debt will be paid, one way or another. Unfortunately for Ava, her brother owes King, big time. And when he doesn’t pay up – she is held accountable. Either her brother pays, or she will. No one messes with the King. Things get more complicated as their chemistry ignites. With other agendas in play, the story takes a tense turn. The story is set to continue in Book #2, so I can’t wait to dive in and discover how everything plays out.
Definitely worth the read! Intense. Steamy. Dark. Delicious.
Bring on Book #2!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, April Moran!

This is definitely a book for those who love very dark SMUT. I can’t wait to read the next book. Please make sure to read trigger warnings.
