This is a 3 book series that should be read together and not stand alone books. Each book builds on the previous one. The series sucks you in quickly . There is love, agony, rage, confusion, trauma, while facing reality. Full of plot twists and emotions going on. Had a hard time putting the books down.

This series was amazing, I really couldn’t put it down and well couldn’t read it fast enough. It was a very intense book and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, I really couldn’t read it fast enough. At first, I was wondering if the story that was being told by Marcy was real or if she was living it, or maybe all in their head. The dreams that pledge her with so much she can’t tell them apart. This was filled with so much from suspense, action, thrill, emotion, and so much more. This series was amazing I really enjoyed them. there were well put together but you do need to spend some time paying attention, I did find I had to go back once or twice. But this book really showed a different side of what someone could be going thou in their minds. These books were thoroughly thought out and just incredible to read.

I hadn’t read anything by this author before, so I hesitated to jump in with an entire box set first thing. Something about the one-word titles named after emotions really pulled me in. You definitely want to read these books in order though as each installment picks up where the previous has left off. We start off with our main character, Marcy, in the first book Rage and the author wastes no time jumping straight into it. I was captivated by the very first chapter and it never let go. I am very glad I got the box set because I immediately jumped into the next one straight away. With the second book, Confusion, Marcy feels stuck and her emotions are clashing. Once we hit the last in this box set, Agony & Ecstasy, I was convinced I was on the most unpredictable rollercoaster I’ve encountered. I won’t give any spoilers, but the author did an amazing job with all of these, and I can’t wait to pick up more from them.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Marcy Series Boxed Set contains the first three books in The Marcy Series entitled Rage; Confusion; and Agony and Ecstasy. The stories center around the main character of Marcy as she attempts to navigate the emotions she is experiencing at different times in her life. In the first book entitled Rage, Marcy is experiencing anger issues that over time become so intense they almost consume her. She is also having terrible nightmares that are affecting her sleep and keeping her awake. When she is witness to a robbery and takes down the armed robber during a fit of rage, she meets Liam who asks for her help in his mission. In Book Two, Confusion, Marcy finds herself in the middle of a love triangle with Brad and Liam. All three have their own issues to work through but Marcy’s issues are a bit more complicated and not so easy to solve. Marcy wants to move forward in her life and heal from the hurts of her past but that may be impossible. In the third book entitled, Agony and Ecstasy, Marcy endures a lot of pain and suffering that puts her strength to the test. This one is a bit of a heavier read that will surely have the reader experiencing the intense emotions alongside Marcy. This series had anger, love, drama, angst, drama, passion, action, mystery, suspense, hurt, secrets, and twists and turns that will keep you hooked until the end. I enjoyed watched the characters grow and evolve throughout the series and became heavily invested in Marcy’s story.

Marcy is a successful business owner who seems to have it all – until she starts having nightmares and develops uncharacteristic anger issues. With her sudden turn in behavior, her closest friends and boyfriend become concerned, though Marcy brushes off her own reactions to others and certain situations. It’s not until she is confronted with her own actions and the threatened loss of her boyfriend, Brad, that Marcy realizes she has a problem and needs help. However, Marcy is soon confronted by another victim of rage, Liam, and the course of her recovery and life seems to become shaky. This was an interesting series to read, I enjoyed the love triangle and psychological tidbits thrown in that kept me engaged and reading from page one to the last.

This intriguing and engaging dark romantic suspense story had me captivated throughout. I loved the fact that as all three books are in this set I could ‘binge read’ the whole series! In Rage, we are introduced to Marcy, Brad, and Liam. Marcy has anger issues, and we follow her journey in finding out why. In Confusion, Marcy is learning how to navigate her conflicted emotions. We also get to learn more about her and her relationships with both Brad and Liam. Agony and Ecstasy sees decisions being made whilst emotions run deep. The twists and turns continue in this third story, and there are lots more surprises for both Marcy, and us, the reader! It took me a few chapters to really get into the storyline and get to know the characters, but having done so I was then fully immersed in the story. Overall this was a real page turner of a read, and I recommend ‘binge reading’ the series, like I did!

Each book features a different part of the main character, Marcy. The first book takes a look into the Rage she is dealing with and the reason behind it. The second book, Confusion, is where Marcy tries to decipher the emotions she’s experiencing. Lastly, the third book deals with Marcy and her Agony and Ecstasy, as she figures out what she’s been feeling and decides on the best route to take with its own ups and downs. It is highly recommended to read all three books in its order. Not only will this series take you through a whirlwind of the emotional rollercoaster Marcy faces but the author captures your attention from beginning to end. At the urging of her boyfriend, Brad, she seeks help in finding the root cause of Marcy’s rage. As her situation becomes tangled in a situation, she is in the midst of a love triangle between Brad and another man, Liam. Each individual has their own baggage to sort out before moving forward with their life so with this in mind, how will things be resolved and where will this journey take them.

The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3 by Linda Burson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This box set contains Books 1-3 in The Marcy Series. Book One is Rage, Book Two is Confusion, and Book Three is Agony and Ecstasy. I was very excited to read this box set, but found myself not interested in it in the long run. While the characters are fairly realistic and the world building is pretty good, I felt the story itself and the dialog between characters were often repetitive and fluffy. I feel like the story in all three books were lacking depth and grit. It also seemed like a very slow read; not what I was expecting in a suspense story. I found the dreams Marcy has been having to be fairly interesting, and the premise that our subconscious has a profound impact on our waking, conscious world. In Marcy’s case, she becomes very short tempered and irritable with those around her. Who wouldn’t be irritated with very little sleep? But, it begins to affect all of her relationships, including the almost too perfect relationship between her and Brad. Their break up and make up roller coaster just made the irritation in me surface. Things seem to be overly dramatic when they didn’t need to be. Overall, a decently written book with okay characters and a lengthy storyline.

The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3 by Linda J. Burson – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first time I have read  anything by this author. I will be honest at the start of this book it was very triggering for me. It’s a lot of traumatic events at the beginning and it kept making not want to read it. That being said, I continued because I really wanted to know what happened to Marcy. There is so much violence that has happened to her. There are two men who have won her heart and she now has the difficult task of picking the right man. There are a lot of sad moments that really made me feel her pain. Something does happen but I do not want to spoil anything. If anything, I want others to know that you will feel her pain, love, happiness. There are so many emotions throughout this story that I really hit home for me. Marcy, Liam, and Brad have a story of love that not many people can or do have. You will laugh, cry, feel very angry, feel very uncomfortable, feel very sad. I am glad that I read the whole series and I hope that you do to. Just know that there are some very traumatic experiences in this story that might trigger you if have been harmed.

This series picks up really quickly and sucks you right in. Our FMC is a young business owner who has developed a bad temper in the last several months. While this temper has gotten her out of a jam or two, it is causing some tension in her other relationships. After meeting a new person her life is quickly taking a different turn that she saw for herself. I really enjoyed this series, there were a few parts that seemed to be a bit of filler and I struggled to stay engaged, but overall it was really good.

The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3 by Linda Burson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Marcy Box Set contains books one through three featuring Marcy Jenson and her journey navigating trauma while facing reality through a different lense., Marcy is a business owner of her own cafe and has been dating Brad Preston for two and half years. The last four months she has been having nightmares that disrupt her sleep. When her best friend, Jill, mentions that her temper has even caused customers to leave the cafe, Marcy tries to dismiss it as everyone is being too sensitive. Brad dumps her after she shoves him during an argument.. The following evening, Marcy is held at gunpoint by a robber in a gas station. Thankfully, she has professional training and disarms the stunned gunman and beats him down. When the police arrive, she gives her statement and is trying to leave when she is accosted by news crews. She is approached by Liam who would like to speak to him in private. He tells her about his life and the trauma of losing his family and believes she can help him take on the bad people. Marcy begins therapy with Dr. Bengali who claims that they need to find the underlying cause of her rage.

Brad proposes to Marcy and she accepts. The following Monday, Brad is gone on a business trip, Liam contacts Marcy again. He provides her with a burner phone and tells her to meet him at a park after dark. Marcy is used as bait for a group of thugs that Liam executes. On Wednesday, Liam gives her a gun and they take on a gang. Marcy doesn’t shoot one of them but hits them with the gun. At home, Marcy realizes she hasn’t checked her phone for messages from Brad. She listens to them as they become more angry that she hasn’t answered his calls.. Marcy becomes distraught and experiences a breakdown causing her to go to the hospital. Brad flies home and sees her at the hospital where he ends their engagement.. Liam had told her about a cabin in Vermont where he would teach her how to use a gun. She spends two weeks with Liam and they fall in love. Liam dotes on her, but due to his work, they have to keep their relationship secret. While she has been gone, Brad has been trying to find her. Jill claims he has been calling the cafe too.

Marcy returns home and tells Brad she is in love with Liam. However, she can’t deny that she still loves Brad. Brad tells her to no longer see Liam. Liam goes to California to finish his revenge on the men that murdered his family. Marcy follows him and spends time with Liam and Will. Before Liam executes the plan for the men, Marcy returns home. She continues therapy and is stuck with deciding what man she should spend her life with. With nobody to confide in, Marcy’s nightmares and confusion intensify. Dr. Bengali and Marcy have made several breakthroughs in her therapy. However, the revelations are certain to alter Marcy’s life forever.

Intense suspense builds through each book and there is a smooth transition between each edition. Marcy’s relationships are complex and dominate her entire life. Meanwhile, Dr. Bengali seems to be the voice of reason. Marcy is so codependent that she doesn’t miss a beat by running to Brad or Liam when she fights with one of them. While she can’t handle the thought of either of them being with another woman, Marcy doesn’t see herself manipulating them. She refuses to accept accountability for her own actions by blaming them for the predicament.

This is not my usual type of book to read, let alone a boxed set. I thought it was long and drawn out. Not sure if it’s a psychological thriller, but Marcy has a lot going on in her head, and her life. After a fight with her boyfriend, Marcy has a little too much to drink and ends up agreeing to help a stranger seek revenge for his family. This commitment puts a strain on her relationship with her boyfriend. All this is going on while Marcy is seeing a psychologist about her outbursts of rage. Probably a very good read, if that’s what you’re into.

The Marcy Series Box Set is definitely a whirlwind. The 3 books take the reader on the biggest emotional rollercoaster ever. The author pulls you in. Makes you feel happy, angry, sad, love, ect. You need to read all 3. You can’t skip around or read them alone. The next book starts exactly where the previous left off.
Marcy finds herself dealing with a lot of rage and confusion in her life for the last few months and doesn’t understand why. At the urging of her boyfriend Brad she finally seeks out help. But when she does her life takes some unexpected turns. Ending up in a love triangle in love with both Brad and Liam she’s trying to figure out how to navigate it all. She doesn’t want to hurt either one of them, so she keeps them both close. Brad as well as herself have some emotional issues they have to deal with personally before they can move on. Liam has a personal vendetta he needs to accomplish before he can be completely open.
So what will happen?
Who will Marcy choose?
Rage
Confusion
Agony and Ecstasy
Will answer those questions and more.
I didn’t care for what Marcy was doing at first. But as you get to know the character one gets a better understanding. I felt bad for Brad but I understood. Liam I knew there was more than met the eye. I guarantee you at least feel similarly about at least one of these if not all.
You want a psychological/emotional rollercoaster with some suspense thrown in, check this box set out!

The author, Linda Burson, is a very skilled writer. As I first started reading this series it was a slow start. After a couple of chapters, the story picked up the pace and I could not put the book down at all. The stories are full of intrigue, plot twists, and lots of emotions going on with Marcy. Those is a good start to a series with a lot of books. Each book builds on the previous one, driving deeper into the characters as well as the relationship to each other. I appreciate how Marcy falls in love with more than one person. She gets to explore that love with both of them until she is able to decide who she wants. You don’t get to read that plot line in a lot of romance books. The insight uncovered in her therapy sessions bring developments into the plot. Emotions run high as Marcy tries to get herself under control. Add tension, suspense, and romance into the and you’ve got a great story going!

Sons of Sindicato by Sonya Jesus & Cam Johns

This is the first book I’ve read by Jesus and John’s. Sons of Sindicato is a great short steamy read and will leave you wanting more.

Braelynn is a lawyer and is trying to make Partner. When things go south with one of the partners; things really go south. She isn’t afraid of what’s going to happen as long as she has her secret love standing behind her. The quote I chose for Braelynn is: “What are you nuts! You don’t put sauce on chicken cutlets.”

Seth is one of the sons of the Head of Sindicato. He’s screwing the help which is a big no in his dad’s world. When he walks into a lawyers office things change. True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #4) by India Kells

Kells knows how to get attention with everything she writes. So far I’ve read all The Dark Sparrow Novels and I can’t wait for more. These characters will never be forgotten.

Liam, a cop and the fourth brother to Lazarus, is upset that they didn’t bring down their father. Gabrielle had to leave as an emergency came up, but she brought a gift. Someone to cut Finch’s money. The quote I chose for Liam is: “I never played you, in any way, Catriona. I’ve never liked deception. When I kissed you, it was because I couldn’t help myself. If Deva hadn’t barged in, things would’ve gone further than a kiss. I only stopped because I think you’re making a mistake.”

Catriona, very close to becoming a nun, is brought to Chicago to help a family out. With the eldest brother being in a coma she does what she can. When she uncovers something she runs, but she saves someone else. The quote I chose for Catriona is: “We’re on this earth to make mistakes. Do you think that’s the first time I’ve ever thought about being with a man, sleeping with one? When you choose a path, you have to relinquish several more. No one goes into a religious life without considering that, otherwise, the weight of the commitment would break you in two. I haven’t slept with anyone because each time I was convinced it was the wrong decision, until you.”

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good read.

Wild Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #3) by India Kells

The third book in A Dark Sparrow Novels. Kells has really upped her game from the first two books. Lazarus is at it again with helping one of the many half brothers and Kells captures it perfectly.

Isabel is the next Dark Sparrow to be called upon the favor. What she doesn’t realize when she agrees to the meeting is she’ll be running right into the past’s arms. Jones isn’t who she expected to see and it gets better. The quote I chose for Isabel is: “No pressure. Because all I want is you.”

Kai, Delta Force, goes to another meeting in hopes to bring down his father, Finch. What he’s not expecting is for the girl who broke his heart and got away is the one that’s helping. Things don’t go as planned and it scares him. The quote I chose for Kai is: “Are you still set on returning to work tomorrow?”

Romance, suspense, twisted lovers book is for you!

Cold Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #2) by India Kells

This is the second book of A Dark Sparrow Novels. As the second book I’ve read by the author I can say I’ve enjoyed it. Kells knows how to capture a reader’s attention.

Zoe knows her languages and is requested by Beatrice for a favor. Keep an eye on one of Lazarus’s half brothers. Not sure what she’s getting herself into she goes. She finds herself going back to the past. The quote I chose for Zoe is: “You had love in your life, and even if you struggled and battled through some tough times, you had a choice to do something with it. Grabbing that power. I will never judge you for the decisions you made, that path on the dark side. I would have done the same thing. Hell, I’m doing it right now. At least love brought you back. You always have a choice, Archer. Never forget that.”

Archer Blackwood, moves from London to Chicago, a cold man needs someone who can translate languages for him. What he doesn’t know is his half brother is really looking out for him. Zoe has thawed the cold man a little. The quote I chose for Archer is: “Don’t put yourself in danger, do you hear me? Steer clear of Finch. You’re mine.”

Lost Bastard (A Dark Sparrow #1) by India Kells

This is the first book in A Dark Sparrow Series. This is the first book I’ve read by the author, but it won’t be my last. Kells has really done a great job writing this.

Deva, a Dark Sparrow, goes to help Lazarus. He wants to watch his brothers and make sure he’s kept out of harm’s way. Little does Deva know that the brother is going to capture her heart. The quote I chose for Deva is: “I agree. And I couldn’t stop thinking about what Finch and my father had said. All those speeches about patience, about preparing for war. What if he was speaking about a war from within? What if Finch had prepared things way in advance, and placed his pawns in strategic places.”

Aleksei, Lazarus’s half brother, trains at the gym only to find his Angel there. He keeps her at arms length, but when he’s injured she’s the one to help him. Things get tough and he pushes her away. The quote I chose for Aleksei is: “You put yourself in danger! I told you to stay at the hotel under Lance and Kai’s protection, but you didn’t listen. You don’t listen! And now that I know you are safe, still breathing , still alive and whole…”

This is recommended for MC lovers and if course romance lovers.

Cold Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #2)

Wild Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #3)

This was one amazing box set. Dark romantic suspense lovers these are your books!

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) by India Kells – Review by TaKeisha McCroskey

Night JusticeNight Justice by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Night Justice was the first book I have read by India Kells. The pages flowed so fast that this easily became a one day read. I enjoyed how it was very original in its night-time vigilante theme, yet while reading it, you could see it playing in your head, like a scene from a DC comic. The romance inclusion was a perfect mix with the action and suspense. Since this is the first book in the series, I will be watching and waiting (slightly impatiently) for the next book.

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) by India Kells – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Night JusticeNight Justice by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Night Justice is the first book in the Chicago Vigilantes series by India Kells. It is the first I have read by her, and I hope there is a book 2, as this book ended too suddenly. There is so much left unresolved. Over all, it was a really good book. A little too… graphic… in certain scenes, but the story was good. Makes me think of Batman- A vigilante is rumored to be seen in Chicago, but the descriptions never seem to match up. Orla, a reporter, has made it her current project to investigate it. She is tasked with a new story- find more information on the distribution of a new drug said to be coming to Chicago soon. On her first night investigating, she crosses paths with said Vigilante, and it begins. They both have the same mission in mind, to keep the drug off the streets, but they have a hard time trusting each other and teaming up. They certainly have chemistry and physical closeness, but lack the trust. I recommend this book, I enjoyed it. I want to know how its going to end though, I feel it ended too soon, and left too many questions.

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1)
by India Kells

Wow this book had me hooked from the beginning. I was on the edge of my seat turning the pages wanting to know what was going to happen next. This book is full of action, suspense, danger, wonderful characters and more. I love Orla’s character, she is a reporter that is strong and independent and when she puts her mind to something there’s no stopping her. She is trying to stop a new drug from hitting the streets and she also wants to uncover who the vigilante is. The vigilante is also on a quest to stop the distribution of this awful drug. They find themselves working together and they can’t seem to stop the chemistry between them. This is a must read if you want to know if they are able to stop the drugs from being released and what happens between these two. I cannot wait to read the next installment in what is starting out to be a great series. I highly recommend this book.
