This is the perfect book for young readers who have advanced to chapter books. The chapters aren’t too long but give enough kid friendly detail to make it fun to read. The added pictures give the reader a little surprise from the words on the pages!

The description of this book made my expectations very high. The core plot was very good, it just wasn’t executed well. Ebun & Noah’s love story could’ve been more thought out and descriptive. I felt like this book would be good for younger readers without the spice scenes but as an adult I struggled to finish.

This was my first book in the series but 100% can be read as a standalone. This book is so good. The storyline, the character development, just all in all it’s a good book. It’s not too long of a read, but it’s not too short where it feels rushed. Even though the character relationship develops a little quick, it didn’t feel weird while reading it!

This was my first read by this author and the book was okay. The plot had a strong storyline but I didn’t think it was executed well. I was distracted by there being a lot of exclamation points in places I felt they didn’t belong. The dialogue between the characters also seemed a little immature and like the author wanted certain moments to have a high climax but it came off as unrealistic. I’ll read the next book to see if it gets better.

I didn’t love or hate this book. I thought it was an interesting take a common thing that women go through. It was hard for me to take Rebecca seriously in the beginning but I pushed through and she was okay at the end.

I read the first book so I was familiar with the characters. I did enjoy this book better than the first which usually doesn’t happen often. I applaud the author for touching on a topic that doesn’t get much attention. I did like that the series continued with its focus on Rebecca and Kyle instead of switching it up.

I’ve read almost every book in this series and they don’t disappoint. It’s very hard to come by a series where every book is good but this series is just that. Not only is it a Christmas mystery, but it’s a historical one as well. These books are so well written and so captivating. Well worth the read!

This book was so unique in the plot which is what grabbed my attention. It’s so well written I felt every emotion in it. From reading the synopsis I wasn’t sure how it was going to play out. But it’s so entertaining in a slow burn type of way. I’m definitely rereading it because I loved it that much.

This was my first book by this author and it was okay. The writing is good however I think the main characters need a little more development. I’m almost the same age as the main chant after Sunny and there’s no way I could be her friend lol. I felt as if she comes off a little immature and unrealistic.

This was my first time reading a book from this author and I found it very interesting. I would recommend this book for a middle school audience. It’s written exactly how I would expect Neyah to talk in real life. Although, Africa has countries that are industrialized, this book points out the dangers of the places that aren’t!
