This is the third book in the Astoria Royals Series. I have not read the first 2 books so this book can totally be read as a stand alone. The emotion and the storytelling in this book were outstanding. I was drawn into this book and the characters’ stories. The way the past and the present collide for Priscilla and Riordan is perfect and heart wrenching. I believe I will need to go back and read the first 2 books just to stay in this world a little longer.

Who doesn’t love themselves an Irish , Scottish or British accent !? My knees go weak 😉and the thought of having Riordan whisper in my ear leaves me with goosebumps 🫣🥰

Priscilla had a major crush on Riordan as a young girl and when she offers herself on a platter and is “ rejected” she goes outside for a walk to clear her head but gets viciously attacked by Russians but Riordan came to her rescue and they paid with their lives ( wish I could use bad language) but she the disappears from his life but he’s always thought of her , always wondered and then one day their paths cross again in the company of Grigori , the Russian mobster …..

Priscilla’s dad worked for Riordan’s dad and their business is in the underworld but that fateful night changed things and Priscilla has now grown up and is out for revenge but in a lawful way as an undercover FBI agent and that is how her path crosses with Riordan’s …..

Priscilla is the reason Riordan is alive she warned him of danger and took a bulleti for him , it may cost her evidence and the chance to prove herself especially if she becomes his “wife” but Riordan won’t let her go but he’s going to help hee get what she wants even if it kills him , which it very nearly did !

Priscilla was “married “ before and her ex husband plays a monumental role in her rescue and safety and he’s also been a good father to her son and she’s got so much to protect that I’m overwhelmed for her but I also admire her strength and determination, she’s a strong and brave woman ❣️

Riordan loves fiercely and I was ready to hand myself over on platter 🥰🫣🤣 but he and Priscilla are definitely a better match , they were made for each other !

Loved every tense moment of this epic read 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I haven’t read too many Mafia love stories as it isn’t really something that I have been into. Of the few I have read this series is amongst the top. It’s always nice to read about a couple that has somewhat of a past and ends up getting their HEA. Riordan and Priscilla met as young children and essentially grew up together. Priscilla took a chance and tried to start something romantic with Riordan but he rejected her due to fearing repercussions from her father. It’s been 17 years since they’ve seen each other but the sparks are still there and it seems like no time has passed at all. Although this is the third book of a series it is the first one that I have read. There was great character development and the author did a great job if keeping me engaged. As a friendly warning this book does touch upon and talk about the SA Priscilla went through so read at your own risk.

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Riordan O’Rourke has a reputation of being a dangerous man. He swears to protect his family no matter what and to keep his heart guarded.

When a meeting with another underboss goes wrong, a woman from his past lands bleeding at his feet after a bullet meant for him hits her.

Until now, no woman has ever captured his attention like she does. Every fiber of him screams she’s his, while every thing she is says she’s the enemy. Riordan forces her to marry him and keeps her in his bed demanding the truth, but even that won’t make him happy.

But, by now it’s too late and he won’t let her go without a fight.

Sleeping with the Enemy was a very different read for me. I normally shy away from Mafia Romance because they just aren’t something I typically enjoy. This was different.

I love the idea the Riordan is only a bad guy because he has to be. In a world where you’re born into royalty it’s hard not to follow in your family’s footsteps, even if that royalty is Mafia royalty.

The characters were interesting and I found myself rooting for the not-so-bad bad guys, which definitely is where you want to be with this kind of book.

If you enjoy possessive, but well meaning, men you should really enjoy this book. Pay attention to the trigger warnings though, because they won’t go easy on you in the pages. Happy reading!

Sleeping with the Enemy: A Forced Marriage Enemies to Lovers Romance (Brides and Sinners) (Astoria Royals Book 3)

I somehow missed this series until this book came out which disappoints me, but it wasn’t necessary to read the others to get inti this book, but u think it would give you more information on the family.

Riordan’s love story takes much longer than most, seventeen years to be exact. He can be a jerk, but he will protect everyone and everything he loves including the girl from his past.

So much happens and holy cow there were some incredibly hot moments, especially close to the end. Definitely not something I can remember reading about in previous books.

I have had the pleasure of reading a few books by Ms. Garland and look forward to reading more in the future.

A smutty, action packed, hot, and heavy Mafia romance that I enjoyed immensely! I picked this book up not expecting much because mafia romances usually sound interesting but unfortunately fail to deliver, sleeping with the enemy did not fail to deliver. Riordan and his Prissy delivered and then some. It was action packed from page one. I had never read anything by this author before but I will most certainly check out her backlog of books. Each of the books in this series is a standalone but I do believe that they have characters in common. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. My 2 favourite things are Mafia danger and dangerous passionate romance and this book has it in spade. It is book 3 in the Astoria Royals series and even though it can be read as a standalone I will definately be going back to read the first 2 books in the series.
As you would expect with a Mafia Romance there is danger, enemies, forced marriage, with a possessive dominant male. There are a couple of themes which some readers may get triggered by so it is definately for a mature reader.
Riordan is an underboss who has worked hard to keep his reputation. He is feared by many people and enemy of many more. Years ago a girl he had feelings for was attacked by 3 members of the Russian Mafia. He took care of the men but lost the women he had feelings for. She left and he didn’t know what had happened to her.
Fast forward and they meet again when she is a sub to the Russian Mafia. The same group of people that harmed her all those years before. Riordan is immediately attracted to her and when she warns him and takes a bullet to protect him he wonders what game is she playing. She is an enemy so how can she be trusted.
When he realises who she is exactly Riordan is determined not to lose her again and do whatever it takes to protect her.
Priscilla however isn’t the same women he knew all those years ago and when secrets are reveled about how she actually is now Riordan becomes only too aware of how much of an enemy she is to the family. But as the saying goes. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer and that is exactly what Riordan plans to do.
This plan is great in theory but what happens when he true feelings for Priscilla comes to light and he starts to fall for her. After all this time is the girl that fell for him years before still there or is the strong determined woman going to end up destroying herself and him on her path for revenge.
This was an amazing read. I loved that it was told from the view of both main characters as it gave the story more depth. If you like Mafia romances that keeps the pages turning then i definately recommend this book.

Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland is the third book in the Astoria Royals Series. I have not read the others and found that I could read this as a standalone. This Mafia romance has it all from the drama, violence, stream, Emotion, forced marriage, and mafia politics. Priscilla and Riordan are the two main characters In this story, and have a small history, Priscilla when she was younger tried to kiss Riordan and she rejected her out of the fear of her father, and now they are face to face again. She MUST marry him or she will blow her cover! These two have steam, passion, and emotion within them that you will NOT want to put the book down.
Deborah Garland is a new author for me and let me tell ya, I want to read more and more. The book grabbed me and didn’t want to let go. Her writing style and they way she has created this amazing world of Astoria Royals, is simply amazing. I wanted to stay lost in the world of Priscilla and Riordan!!!!

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals Book 3) by Deborah Garland . I loved this book. Its full of hot guys, mafia, and steamy scenes. What;s not to love. Mafia Romance is my newest obsession so I knew I had to read this as soon as I saw it. I loved the story of Priscilla and Riordan.
Many years ago Riordan was close with Priscilla and her dad. He was a few years older than her and they both had feelings for eachother. Riordan knew he wanted to make her his but he wanted to wait until she was 18. One year she offered herself to him but he turned her down and she ran from a party. When Riordan found her she was being attacked by 3 men and he saw red! He rescued her but he was too late to save her from SA. She left and he never saw her again until many years later. She was the girlfriend / sub of the enemy.
She was undercover and looked different so he didn’t know it was her immediately but she knew who he was. That night she saved him from being shot. He took her home, had her patched up and when he found out who she was, refused to let her go.

He vows to keep her safe even though she wants to go back to finish what she started and get a promotion she’s been looking forward to. When she finally returns to the enemy to get her stored evidence, it won’t be so easy to get what she needs and leave. The Mafia doesn’t give up so easily. I really enjoyed this book and the characters. Another 5 star read from this author for me.

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What can you say about a mob book where the Italians aren’t the bad guys? Brilliant!! This was my first jump into the Astoria Royals’ world. I am not at all sorry I made the leap. The characters feel real. They each have their good and bad points, except for Grigori and Maksim, they have no good.

Priscilla knew her dad wasn’t just a professor growing up. She always knew there was something more. It wasn’t until she was older that she figured out what he actually did. Her father was a hitman for the Irish Mob. Priscilla hung out with the family’s sons, especially Riordan. Riordan was her father’s favorite and she had a giant crush on him.

When Priscilla turned 17, she tried to kiss Riordan. It did not turn out the way she wanted. He said no. Riordan was afraid of what her father would do to him and he wanted to wait until Priscilla was 18 before making that move. When what Priscilla thought was a rejection happened, she took off and put herself in danger. Riordan saved Priscilla but not before several Russian Bratva assaulted her. That night changed everyone’s lives.

It is 17 years later, Riordan is the underboss of his family now. Priscilla has just come back into his world. She is not what she appears to be. This complicates both their lives. Riordan feels that this is their chance to be together despite the unusual circumstances that brought them to this point. Priscilla is on a mission and wants to finish before making any decisions about her life. But there is no time. Everything is moving at lightning speed and no one can stop it.

There is not a dull moment in this book! Between the action and the steam, one is constantly on edge. When all the secrets come out, the rawness of the moment, the reactions, the emotions is so palpable. I am adding the first two of the series to my TBR list. I can’t wait to find out how Lachan manages to get his Russian doll out of her wedding!!

Toe curling heat. Wow. So, this is the third book in this mind-blowing series, and I just found it not fair. While I am relatively new to the mafia book world Deborah Garland knows how to pull the intrigue and the heat from start to finish. I will be going back to read the previous books very soon. Dual perspectives Riordan and Priscilla both have secrets, but they have history that will burn the world.
Riordan O’Rourke is the underboss for his brother, meaning when two Russians are killed, he is sent to Grigori as a peacekeeper. Informing him that the Irish are not responsible, but that the Italians are. Priscilla, the submissive at Grigori’s side when Riordan is there, something about her alabaster face gives him a sense of familiarity. All too quickly he is imagining what he wants to do with her when his task is complete and he leaves, visions of her still filling his mind when. A warning that changes everything, her Russian accent is gone, and she warns him of Maksim planning to kill him, going a step further she takes a bullet for him. He can’t leave her, he needs her, he wants her.
Who is Priscilla and why does she look familiar? Will Riordan be able to keep her when all the secrets are revealed? The world is complex and realistic for the most part while the characters are more. With relatable complex lives and backstories in varying degrees the author ropes you in and locks you in as she takes you on the journey of Riordan and Priscilla. Who they were and who they are now as they fall for each other against all resistance. What pulled me in to give this book a try was the no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a happily ever after guaranteed. This was the perfect Saturday quick read to leave you with a feeling of happiness and love. So much pain and fight go into the characters’ everyday lives, and yet they overcome it all and come out stronger than before, with each other at their sides. Cannot wait for the next book, Deal with the Devil, October 6th, 2023. In the meantime, book one and two here I come.

HOLY SMOKES! This is one fantastic story! I loved just about every second! It drew me in and I was stuck reading late Into the night! The suspense! The drama! Just outstanding! I enjoyed these two different factions butting heads and vying for one girls attention! The characters are deep and fully charismatic. I was shocked and surprised by them more than once as their stories unfolded.

This O’Rourke family is definitely one to watch! We get to know a few pretty well and the others of this large Irish family just a wee bit! I eagerly look forward to each of their stories more in this series.

This is my first book in the series. In fact I did not know there were two others until writing this review. This can easily be read as a stand alone as I thought this was the first. Excuse me since I have a few more stories to catch up on. Wonderful writing and superb story!

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Deborah Garland’s Sleeping With The Enemy features Priscilla Nolan and Riordan O’Rourke. At the young age of seventeen, Priscilla wanted Riordan to be her first. However, he turns her down. She leaves her house and 3 Bratva men attack her. Riordan kills the men, but not before one had successfully raped her. She disappears before they can deal with the bodies..

Seventeen years pass and Riordan is sitting at a meeting with Grigori, a Bratva underboss. Riordan is the underboss of the Irish Mob. He notices Pasha, Grigori’s submissive pet. When Grigori strikes her after she speaks to Riordan, he becomes angry, but doesn’t intervene. Riordan leaves the meeting with his bodyguard, Torin. While getting in his vehicle, Torin spots Pasha. She attempts to warn them that Maksim, Grigori’s hitman, plans to kill them. Before they can react, gunfire erupts around them. She jumps in front of Riordan and takes a bullet for him.
Why would Pasha save Riordan?

Riordan knows the altered body of Priscilla. She has implants, filler done to her lips, tattoos and bleached her hair blonde. Just when he thinks she was on a revenge mission, his brother Balor reveals Priscilla is an FBI agent. She was on a three-month assignment to gather evidence of the Bratva killing 3 federal agents. She needs to get the thumb drive she has stored at Grigori’s house. However, Riordan has no intention of releasing her back to Bratva.

This is a mafia romance with an edge of intense suspense. The alternating perspective between Priscilla and Riordan is seamless. Riordan’s alpha male persona weakens with his memories of Priscilla as a teenager. Priscilla uses Pasha to be defiant and confident. How well can she wear the mask? Will Riordan help her do her job as an FBI agent? This book is worth reading and will keep readers guessing.

Riordan is a Irish mafia underboss and finds himself in a precarious situation he has no doubt he will get out of. While the situation is not ideal he can’t stop staring at his enemies the woman by his side with a sense of familiarity. When the meeting takes a turn he did not expect, he finds out she is none other than Priscilla Nolan. A ghost from his past, he wants answers and what he uncovers singes his blood. Priscilla and Riordan find themselves in a forced marriage but they wont be able to resist themselves for long even though danger is still threatening to tear them apart.

Entertaining, I thought that the chemistry was off the charts with these two. You are immediately thrust into the mafia world and this story has several twists and turns along the way. I definitely need to go back and read the rest of the books in the series. If your a fan of mafia stories, this is one to check out.

Prissy has a very troubled past and has taken it upon herself to make revenge her focus. Riordan is the man who saved her many years ago and as a mafia man, is dangerous to Prissy in more ways than one.

When they cross paths again while Prissy is undercover, sparks fly. Prissy struggles to stay in character and Riordan is not letting her escape him. When Prissy is forced to wed Riordan or break her cover, they end up man and wife. Sparks fly between them and some of these scenes are crazy hot. Neither ever expect to fall for one another in the midst of all the danger, tension, intrigue, chemistry, suspense and steam.

I haven’t read the first two books in this series, but I’m backtracking now to do so. I like the world building, character building, the chemistry between our main characters is insane and I couldn’t put it down! Really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

This book was an exceptional read! The world was well-created and the characters created were tantalizing and dangerous! Riodoran and Prissy are freakin’ chemistry at its finest! Pris has some serious trauma that she has to work around but she has decided to take do what is best for her…or so she believes. Then walks in Riodoran O’Rourke and she has to play it cool to keep everything she has worked hard for doesn’t go down the drain. However, things never go the way you want them to, and once it clicks for Riodoran things will never be the same for her! The spicy levels of this novel are fantastic! THE BALCONY AND SHE SHED SCENE YA’LL! MMM!! The only downside is we focus on the MCs and their interactions, but the story surrounding them. I would’ve enjoyed it even more if we could have gotten just a bit more out of the 2 main characters’ bubbe a bit more! Either way do yourself a favor and read the book!

Not going to lie… The cover is the reason I chose this book. I didn’t read the synopsis, or anything else about it, Other than the title. Let me just say, I was NOT disappointed. This book destroyed me in all the right ways. It is emotional, it is funny at times, it’s so many things. So many things happen and the author handles transitions and story telling amazingly. I’ve always wanted to live in a world like this. AND THEY’RE IRISH. That was just another bonus. I absolutely will be reading more from this author. I will add, this book does mention rape and other things that could be sensitive to some readers, so if things like that trigger you, I would maybe not recommend this book for you.

Wonderful! Heartbreaking. I was so saddened to see how Priscilla grows up and what she has to endure so young. It is reassuring somewhat to know that Riordan always loved her, even if he didn’t admit it to himself. She is a strong woman in the life she now leads, the choices she makes and the chances she takes. I hoped throughout that they could find their way back to each other someday, but both of them are really put through the ringer with Grigori and a spur of the moment wedding. This author had me dying at the end with the little twist thrown in. I look forward to seeing what happens with Lachlan.

This book is absolutely phenomenal. It sucked me in from the very beginning and I did not want it to end. The author weaves an intricate story with fantastic details that I truly enjoyed. She did an excellent job developing the characters as well. Riordan and Priscilla were very well rounded characters and it was clear that there was a lot of history between them. Watching them interact with this in mind was so much fun. This book really brought it all – spice, suspense, tension, and amazing banter. This was an amazing forced marriage story that I truly enjoyed. I definitely recommend it.

I always love this author’s books, and this dark romance is no different. You jump immediately into a tense situation in the very beginning, and it only gets more interesting from there. You can feel the chemistry between Riordan and Priscilla which gets steamier by the second. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this whole book with the drama, violence, and heated scenes full of passion. This author has such a way of writing that will hold your attention from the very first page to the very last. She knows exactly how to keep you engaged, not to mention creating a perfect story flow. I found myself completely invested in these characters just mere minutes after being introduced to them. If you love dark mafia romances, don’t pass on this on or you’ll definitely regret it!

This is a well written story where there is a thin line between hate and love but what will happen when the lines are crossed? What will fate have in store for these two characters? I enjoyed how easily they pulled me into their world. I enjoyed watching their growth as well as their chemistry throughout. They are great, strong characters that made the story for me. Their story is one you don’t want to miss for sure. This is a fast paced, hard to put down, engaging story that I highly recommend.

Sleeping With the Enemy is the third book in the Astoria Royals Series by Deborah Garland. This story is every bit as wonderful as I had expected from Ms. Garland, as she certainly knows how to weave a riveting story. It is a gripping contemporary Mafia romance with a second chances element, forced marriage, action, violence, chemistry, steam, danger, drama, tension, mafia politics, intensity, emotion, and suspense. Also keep in mind that there are sensitive subject matters contained in the story (abuse, sexual assault etc) so if you have triggers make sure to read the TW before diving in.
OMG- I can’t believe that this is the third book in a series, and I have only just discovered it and am yet to read the other two books. I have read and adored many of Ms. Garland’s previous books, so I will definitely be going back to devour the other two books asap before continuing the rest of the series.
The story certainly starts off on a very intriguing note that hooked me right from the outset. I was soon engrossed in all the developments, glued to the pages as I followed along to see how everything would play out in the end. I have always said that one of the things that Ms. Garland does really well is that she’s able to get her reader to completely invest in her characters and their story, whilst also crafting her story with palpable tension, as well as plenty of emotion..
I can’t wait to explore the rest of the series now. Highly recommend this gripping story, especially if you love a great Mafia romance.
Happy reading…

Thank you, Deborah Garland!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Definitely a good read! A perfectly
Told tale that twists pasts with the future; unfolding perfectly. The plot is moderately paced with a good burn.

He was the love of her life and she was the one that got away. Forced together in the most auspicious of times a wrench is thrown in when it’s revealed she’s an agent for the FBI and he’s running the family MOB.

Steamy scenes, hilarity, mystery and intrigue. This is a quick jaunt in the park that leaves you excited for more.

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals Book 3) by Deborah Garland – Review by Jenni Bishop

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love Deborah’s work and jumped to get Sleeping with the Enemy which is a deliciously dark Mafia romantic tale. It is a standalone Enemies to Lovers tale with a forced marriage theme. It is addictive and I stayed up late finish this book in one sitting because I had to know how it ended.
I love that the story is told in dual pov as it makes the story richer knowing what the other is thinking.
The story is intriguing and held my attention and I was often on the edge of my seat. There is plenty of passion and drama, lots of angst and Mafia politics that made for an exciting tale. I was totally addicted to this story.
There was so much going on whether in bed or in general. There are enemies, violence, drama, conflict, struggles, secrets, danger, lust, passion, and lots of emotions that go along with this saga. The sizzling chemistry between these two is palpable. Their relationship is explosive and tumultuous, hot and spicey in and out of the bedroom and add that to their daily lives and sparks fly! It is definitely.
It will keep you captivated and the pages turning. I have read a few of Deborah’s books and I really enjoy her writing style. The characters are strong, and the steamy romance is not smooth sailing it has complexities with twists and turns.
He is a possessive alpha and masterful manipulator to get what he wants. He is ruthless yet caring in his own way.
I highly recommend this book but be warned once you start you cannot stop.

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals Book 3) by Deborah Garland – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the Brides and Sinners Astoria Royals series, focusing on Priscilla and Riordan. The pair have history leading to the opportunity for a second chance romance (I enjoy this trope when done well). Of course, things are never easy for couples like this.

There’s drama and a whole lot of danger thrown at the pair and it was a pleasure to join them in their story and navigate the twists and turns with them.

The characters were well-written and I enjoyed the author’s writing style – it flows well and paints vivid pictures of both the characters and scenery.

I look forward to reading the rest of the series, and the books I’ve missed.
