Check In (Bobbins Sisters Series Book 2) by Debra Parmley is a romantic suspense story. A stalker on the prowl, a bank robbery, some mystery, a little intrigue and some suspense and romance that round off the story. I would have liked the story to be longer though. I think the author’s writing style is better off aimed for a younger audience, NA, or YA perhaps. The romance is sweet, and the characters were likeable but the chemistry between them was lacking. It just wasn’t a page turner for me. That being said, it is just my thoughts; you however may love it. Reviewed by @jennadb

Betsy and Nash’s chance encounter and the possibilities for their relationship kept me coming back every time I put the book down. Debra Parmley found a way to leave me curious about how their relationship may or may not develop throughout the book. While Betsy and Nash were the main characters, Betsy’s sister played a large part in the story and I found myself questioning her character as much as Nash’s. A deeper look into the future for Betsy as well as Nash would have made the book even better, or perhaps they may resurface again in the future.

Short, sweet, and to the point! It was such a lovely tale! It’s a wonderfully fast and easy read. I can’t wait to reread it! I would definitely recommend this for a nice quick read!

Check out a quick read that pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. Betsy Bobbin seems like she is awkward and a little bit goofy but is someone you can relate too. Nash is described as a dark, mysterious and handsome man. Nash is ex military and has so much anger inside but a softness for Betsy. Betsy is hot for Nash but is scared of his anger. Together slowly breaking open the walls each other has they realize that burn for each other. I really enjoyed this book and hope for more.

I found this book to be entertaining. This story is full of romance, mystery, and wonderful characters. Betsy is a shy librarian that keeps her nose in books most of the time. Nash comes off as intimidating when Betsy first sees him and they don’t start off on the right foot. Betsy soon finds out he’s not as scary as she thinks, or at least she hopes because when she finds herself in a bind he is the one that comes to her rescue. Betsy’s sister comes to visit and brings trouble with her. Betsy will do anything for her sister even if it means she sacrifices her personal life. There is attraction between Nash and Betsy but can they overcome their obstacles? If you want to find out what happens between these two then this is a must read. I recommend this book.

Betsy Bobbin is a librarian, she lives alone and when she is not at work, loves to curl up with a good book, or on occasion go to a movie or dinner, but she lives a quiet life and she is more than happy with it. Nash Ware is a former Marine who has been recovering from injury and moved to so that he can start afresh, but he has been having troubles and still needs to attend his appointments to try and level things out. One day while Betsy is at work, a very handsome man comes in with an eyepatch and an intense look in his other eye, she is intimidated and attracted to him all at the same time, but she cannot resist talking to him when he comes to the counter, although, she seems to say the wrong things each time, however, Nash is quite taken aback and taken with her at the same time, but he is not feeling his best and so is a little sharp with her, but when she seems to be in trouble in the parking lot after closing time comes around, he feels drawn to helping her out. Betsy has closed up and is heading out into the snow and for her car, but when Nash shows up to help her, she is afraid of the man, but accepts his kindness and help, especially when she tries to drive off and realises that she has a flat tyre, Nash offers her a lift home and so she calls her friend to let her know what is happening as she loads her things into his Jeep. He does exactly as he says he will and makes sure she is safe all the while and even offers to take her to get her car sorted the next day, Betsy declines, but she does swap numbers before he leaves.
As the days pass, Betsy and Nash cannot stop thinking about the other and so asks her out, but things don’t go quite to plan as Betsy has her sister visiting and cannot make it, but the next time he goes to see her at the library, he meets her sister and then overhears their conversation of their evening plans and he thinks this would be a good idea of somewhere to go with his friends, but when he sees the sisters getting into a spot of bother, he comes to Betsy’s rescue again, she is more than thankful and her sister is too, however, the side she sees of Nash scares her into thinking that maybe this is a bad idea. The next day after work, when she confronts her sister about what happened the night before, her sister opens up about why she has come to visit and Betsy is worried about her. Meanwhile, Nash is thinking of ways in which he can convince Betsy that she is the girl for him, however, things never seem to go to plan and the drama that Betsy’s little sister keep bringing is starting to worry Nash and it makes him think of the thing his ex-fiancé said and did and how he doesn’t want that kind of attitude around him anymore, but things happen and wires become crossed and nothing is smooth sailing for a while.
As time goes on and Nash and Betsy try to get to know one another more, more and more drama appears and it looks like nothing is going to stop it, but Nash being the gentleman he is steps up and offers to help out in any way he can, but will the drama stop this couple from making an attempt at a love which could become a future, or will barriers and obstacles keep getting in the way of happiness? This is a sweet romance with a touch of adventure and suspense weaved throughout which will keep you hooked and wanting to know more right up until the end.

A very interesting book that provides some action with secrets involved. Who doesn’t love a little sister that somehow gets her drama right in the middle of your love life? The book followed a very smooth story line. There were two other storylines that seemed to be happening that I would have liked to see more on where they went. Secrets, books and librarians, you do have my attention.

This was a really good story. It was well written and the characters were made really realistic. The author does a great job of described PTSD in our hero Nash and how that and his past experiences impact his life. Nash is a Marine veteran. He lost his eye and wears an eye patch which makes him self conscious and worried about other impressions of him. When he meet Betsy the attraction is instant between them but both are unsure and have issues they need to deal with. Nash and his PTSD and anger issues and Betsy and her family problems. Can they work their way through their problems and get together or will their issues keep pushing them apart.

If you enjoy romance novels that have suspense, obstacles, and multifaceted characters, this is a great book for you. Nash is a retired marine who is working through his issues and attempting to return to civilian life. Betsy is a nerdy librarian who lives in books more than reality. When the two lives collide, sparks fly. However, with their own personal troubles and Betsy’s little sister Leann’s, the attempt at romance is harder than expected. My favorite thing about Check Out is it’s not just a romance novel. It has so many aspects that make it a wonderful read, men and women alike would relate and enjoy this story. Read it, you won’t regret it.

Check Out is the first book in the Bobbins Sisters Series by Debra Parmley. It is a great contemporary romance novel which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was the first time that I have read this author’s work but I was intrigued by the blurb and decided to give it a try and I’m very glad that I made this decision. Nash Ware is a marine veteran who is disillusioned with life after his fiancee broke it off with him when he returned from war wearing an eye patch to cover a nasty eye injury. Betsy Bobbin is the local librarian who is intrigued by the handsome man in the eye patch. I loved Nash and Betsy’s story. Both are amazing characters that I really loved reading about. Their story had me gripped from the very beginning with his visit to the library which has Betsy all on edge, right up to the very end. The story is very entertaining and flows very well. Betsy is attracted to Nash but finds it hard to let him in, so the path to true love runs far from smoothly for Nash and Betsy. I’m looking forward to getting better acquainted with the other Bobbins sisters and hope we get more from Betsy and Nash in the rest of the series.

Check Out by Debra Parmley is the first book in the Bobbins Sisters Series. This is a great book that really has a little bit of everything in it. My first impression though was the instant connection the main characters seem to have. Right from their first meeting you could feel it. And every interaction from then the chemistry sizzled between them. This is the first book that I have read by this author and from the description I expected just another typical marine returned home story but what the author gave us was much more than that. The story was really well developed and thought out. It had a depth to it that you don’t always find in these type of romance books which for me made it stand out. I thought this was a really strong start to a new series and a brilliant way to be introduced to a new author.

I was enticed by the marine veteran meets librarian storyline and stayed for the sensitive way the author handled Nash’s PTSD and his return home. Appreciated the concept of communication, talking to each other before getting too deep in the relationship. Both main characters were well developed, and I’m a sucker for any setting that includes a library! Looking forward to reading more Bobbin Sister stories, we’ve only met two so far.. could there even be a Marine buddy spinoff!? I will stayed tuned for more stories from Debra Parmley.

This book is very cute, and there were a lot of layers with it. Nash and Betsy Felt something the moment they met. Nash is very much the ideal book boyfriend. He is sweet, handsome, protective, and loyal. The moment he laid eyes on Betsy all those instincts came out , and a silent courtship began. Betsy was a bit harder to gage. She felt the attraction but she was very introverted and to herself. She had the feelings for him, but it took a lot more warming up for her. When her sister Leanne arrives Betsy Is a bit more free, but on the fence with Nash. There is quite a bit of cat and mouse play between them, and when he steps in to help with Leanne’s stalker it ups the ante for everything. It’s a very romantic story and there’s lots of intrigue attached to it. This read is very much worth it.

Check Out By Debra Parmley is a wonderful read filled with genuine, heart warming characters and the Author truly makes you feel like you really know them. This is the first book by Ms Parmley that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact the only thing I could possibly complain about is that it ended too soon! I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for the Bobbin Sisters in future books.
Betsy Bobbin is a cute, quiet librarian working in a job she truly loves with all her heart when she meets Gorgeous Nash Ware a Marine Veteran. At their first meeting Nash comes across as very gruff when the truth is, there is a wonderful caring man who is dealing with a lot under all that gruff. Betsy sees that and attraction builds between the two. Betsys sister Leann comes to visit but someone dangerous follows her and it becomes very obvious he means her serious harm. Betsy turns to Nash for help. It is through this dangerous time that their growing feelings will definitely be tested and they both need to decide if they are right for each other.

Betsy Bobbins is adorable from the word go. She is a petite, bespectacled, librarian who is on the shy side. She is the oldest of three sisters, and has taken on the parent mantle since their folks died. Betsy is dazzled by the brooding stranger that entered the library late on the night of a big storm. She is lucky that he was still in the parking lot when she tried to leave for home because she would have never made it on the flat tire she discovers.
Nash Ware, a Marine veteran, is recovering from his time in the service and his fiance walking out on him. When he enters the library his eye is drawn to the librarian at the checkout counter. Yet, he growls at her for no reason. Nash finds his protective instincts coming out when he is around Betsy. These instincts only get stronger when Betsy’s youngest sister comes to town, bringing all her drama to Betsy’s door.
Debra Parmley writes tender military stories from the perspective of veteran’s wife. The gentle, yet informed, way Debra handles PTSD and fighting through the VA system shows her dedication to honoring those that have and are serving in the US military. Debra writes characters that are relatable and human. This was a sweet read with some intrigue!

Check Out (The Bobbins Sisters Series Book 1) by Debra Parmley. This is a sweet contemporary romance. Its about Betsy who is a very naive librarian in a super small town in Tennessee. When Nash, a Marine Vet walks in the library and Betsy is intrigued and wants to get to know him more but he’s got a bad headache and comes off super grumpy. Nash also wears an eye patch due to the loss of one of his eyes from the Marines and he came back with a good case of PTSD as well. Betsy starts to have dream about this mysterious man and wants to get to know him better. Nash is reluctant at first but he decides to become friends with her. Wow! For all book readers out there, this is one that you definitely should read. Betsy Bobbin is the oldest of the three Bobbin girls. Betsy is the librarian at the local library in Bartlett, TN. She is taken aback when Nash Ware, a Marine who has returned home walks into the library.
Nash is not used to the kind of librarian that Betsy turned out to be. He sees her dark blonde hair, her green eyes, and her red lips as soon as he walks in the door of the library. That day he has a terrible headache and was a little rude with his reply to the sweet librarian. He wears an eye patch courtesy of a wound while on his last tour.
Nash and Betsy figure out that each is interested in at least a friendship, but Leann, Betsy’s younger sister is coming to town for a visit, and puts a damper on any future plans.

Check Out is the first book in The Bobbins Sisters series by Debra Parmley. It is an engrossing wounded warrior military romance. The story also touches on some sensitive issues, which the author handled in a compassionate, but honest way. Nash is a wounded veteran, a former Marine who suffers from PTSD with more scars on the inside than the outside. Past experience has made him a bit prickly and closed off- feeling like he isn’t relationship material. Betsy is the shy librarian type- who is a little intimidated by the fierce looking Veteran. But her life becomes immersed in drama- add some action and a stalker on the loose, and we get an intriguing read! Looking forward to seeing what happens in Book #2.

I enjoyed this book. This is a new author for me and I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is the first book in this series and I can’t wait to see what is next in this series. I found this book to be a well written story that has a little bit of everything in it. It is full of mystery, action and even a little romance. The characters brought the story to life and kept me turning pages. This is an engaging story that I had a hard time putting down. This is a story about Nash who is a Marine returning home and not expecting to meet Betsy. She is falling for him. This is where the story takes on suspense and mystery. I enjoyed the chemistry and growth throughout this story with these two. The attraction is there from the beginning. Nash is a hurt Marine but Betsy has her own fears that must be overcome. What happens to these two you will have to read this book to find out. It really is a great story that I enjoyed and I highly recommend it.

Real drama surrounds Betsy when a stalker comes after her sister Leann. The girls learn that stalking is a real problem on college campuses when Leann’s tutor stalks her. When Leann’s college stalker shows up in town Betsy again turns to Nash. This military romance with a touch of suspense features a Marine veteran hero with PTSD, a shy college librarian heroine, her younger less mature sister, and a college campus stalker.
Author Debra Parmley believes “Every day we are alive is a beautiful day,” and she likes to give her readers and her story people a story with a happy ending.

Hansel & Gretel (Down the rabbit hole) This is a collection of short stories, by multiple authors retelling the classic story of Hansel and Gretel. I never used to like retellings of classic stories, until I came across the Alice in wonderland collection. I love reading this book, I think my favourite story was probably Erin Lee’s Hazel and Gretchen, it was absolutely haunting, I got chills reading it, I don’t want to give any spoilers but it’s about two girls who’s parents are just awful, it’s in Hazels voice and I was almost in tears by the end of part 1. Another one I really enjoyed was Amy Allen’s the witch in the woods. All fantasy and Fae kings, more of a traditional retelling and sticks quite close to the original Hansel and Gretel. Just brilliant, thank you.
Hansel and Gretel: Down the rabbit hole is a collection of seven short stories based on the actual fairy tale deftly written by different authors. Each author unleashes their imagination a different way and it was interesting to see those fragments weave into seven lovely creations. Each story has different flavors, romance, horror, fantasy, fear and conceit. I liked the first and the last one the best. The first is when the witch is more like a namesake guardian to the two children who are sent to Earth from another realm. The witch is also banished as the king’s son suspects that the witch loves his father. It has a fairy tale romance ending where the witch and the king are reunited and show children the happy way of life. Another story which I liked was the Dragon and the Phoenix by Rachel Pudsey. In this story, the prince and the princess in a realm are expected to gain their super powers after a certain age. The prince gains it and shapeshifts into a dragon, but there are several side effects which occur because of this. This is supposed to be neutralized by the Phoenix, the shape shifting form of the princess. But unfortunately, the princess does not gain the powers which leaves the prince, the king and his kingdom in great misery. One more story which strikes the chord in lieu with the current pandemic is The Surface by Cee Cee Elaine. People in this story wear masks and head to the bunkers for the lockdown. Overall it is a very enjoyable read and I really liked it ! Looking forward for more such anthologies !
From start to finish, I enjoyed each story. Each one a different take on the classic tales. So many conversations could be sparked following each one. You wouldn’t expect romance, child abuse, mental illness, etc. to be in a series like this but it was such a pleasant surprise to read. Thank heavens I enjoy being scared too, LOL, because some invoke fear in you and also a sweeter side to the series as well. I loved it!

There is romance and fantasy, horrors and lies, fae and kings and so much more. No two stories are the same. Beware not all are as they seem……
I found this anthology a fascinating read, it includes seven different stories retelling the Hansel and Gretel fairy story. The stories are written by seven different well known authors and each story in this multi genre anthology will either, “tantalise you, scare you, or titillate you”. Each author gives you a version of Hansel and Gretel that has never been told before. The following stories are Hansel and Gretel reimagined by the various authors. “Come and join us…Down the Rabbit Hole!”, The Witch in the Woods by Amy Allen, The Surface by CeeCee Elaine, The Sweetest Day by Debra Parmley, Hazel and Gretchen by Erin Lee, The Reaper Within by Jess Bagnall, Shadows that Move by Lorah Jaiyn and, The Dragon and the Phoenix by Rachel Pudsey. I enjoyed all seven of the stories and liked how different each one once and that the anthology covered many different genres. For example, in Debra Parmley’s, The Sweetest Day, Harry and Greta become lost in the woods and remember their Grandmother telling them the fairy story, Hansel and Gretel. Determined not to make the same mistakes they are reminded not to take candy from strangers and not to enter gingerbread houses. Having reached a house that is not made of candy and are invited in by a lady telling them not to eat sugary foods they except. However when they wake up with magic shackles on their ankles after having tea and a muffin they realise they have been tricked. Nearing Harry’s eighteenth birthday six years later the witch must eat him soon or he will be unpalatable, and Greta is now addicted to the sugar the witch gave her to plump her up. Can they both escape before the witch cooks them, no spoilers as I recommend reading the story as I was hooked from the start. In Hazel and Gretchen, Erin Lee tells a twisted and contemporary version of the fairy story. Hazel and Gretchen have been locked away by horrible parents and are now running out of bread and milk. The light outside the locked door is also fading stopping the sisters from returning to the real world, will they escape or be stuck for eternity. Again no spoilers, and again I was hooked from page one. Lorah Jaiyn’s retelling, Shadows That Move had me gripped from the start. Daphne had heard a warning her entire life following her mother’s unsolved murder, “Don’t look for movement in the shadows, watch for the shadows that move”. It never made any sense to Daphne until she got lost in the forest and then the shadows came for her. Each story had me fully immersed in its storyline and had well developed and engaging characters. I liked reading the short stories by the seven different authors and found that it gave me an insight into each of the writers and their varying styles. I would recommend all seven of the stories and was amazed at how many ways the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale could be retold, each story was unique and original.

Hansel and Gretel Reimagined was so good. Each author’s interpretation of the classic fairy tale held enough adventure, fun and some real twists that it kept my attention. I loved how each story had a unique take to the classic tale of Hansel and Gretel and each story touched on some major life issues, including mental illness, obesity, and the bond between siblings to name a few. Some of the stories were even a little dark, which I enjoyed. Other stories focused on the bond between the brother and sister that helped them to triumph over evil. Hansel and Gretel Reimagined brought to my attention seven new authors to watch out for as each story was interesting and I look forward to reading more from each of them.
From the very first version of this story i knew this book was going to have all sorts of potential. Oh boy was I right and I´m so glad I am! Each and every single one of the authors who helped put this book together were absolutely amazing authors! I will definitely be looking into most of them! I wholeheartedly recommend this book!
