The Sound Of Silence is part of the Leave Me Breathless World by Dakota Willink. This is the first book I have read/listened to by this author, but definitely not the last. This book grabbed my attention from the very first page. I couldn’t stop listening. The issues of abuse were brought to the forefront and I believe that Ms. Willink did a great job bringing these issues to light. It is frightening to think how many people are affected by abuse.
Gianna is such a strong woman and was brave enough to escape the heartache that her marriage became. Derek is strong, stoic and patient. He also had the strength to give Gia the time and tools what she needed to protect herself. He is a really good man. And then we have Ethan, he is a psychopath who showed his true colors in the end. This is an intense book that has warnings for triggers, but my hope is that anyone who reads this book would get something out of it, be it courage to leave an abusive situation or compassion for those in that situation.
Sean Crisden, Sarah Puckett and Connor Crais did a wonderful job with the narration of this book. I have listened to books by Sarah in the past and she is always excellent. She brought Gia to life. This is my first listen of both Sean and Connor, but I will be looking out for them in future audiobooks. They have really nice and sexy voices.
This book has me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen in the end. I really look forward to read more books by Dakota Willink. Brilliant is my best description of this story.

This was a very emotional read. Going into this I was very naïve about eating disorders and this book definitely opened my eyes. The story and characters felt so real and connecting. This book focuses more on the male point of view and my heart was breaking for Wes as we followed his journey into this awful disorder. We also get a glimpse of how it affects the people closest to Wes. The author wrote an exceptional story and I cannot wait to read more from her. I know this story will stick with me for a long time. I highly recommend this book.

A very powerful emotional roller-coaster read about a very rare topic, eating disorder in men. The story runs in two timelines, present, and past. The past tells a story of a young Wes, who has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, a wrestling champion. He meets a girl Caila, who wants to diet for her ballet dancing. He gets into this dieting habit with her and falls deeper and deeper to extreme diet. As his brother dies, he somehow lets this diet take control over his life. And as time progresses, in the present timeline, he is very sick and refuses to get out of it. It is a very intense book, and communicates a message that one is responsible for their own actions. If one gets into the trouble, it is one’s one responsibility to get out of it. A very unique tale, told beautifully. It is heart wrenching.
Talk about one twisted story! It’s a dark romance with suspense built right in. I love reading stories like this. They keep me on the edge of my seat. Rooting for the characters to overcome themselves and others to survive.
The storyline is fan-freaking-tastic! It’s up and down and had me looking for hope in her story. I ran through a gambit of emotions and near the end? I could feel and hope right along with the main character. I AM

I really enjoyed this book. I found the story interesting and fun. The best part of the story was watching the love between Edith and Darren. They are two vastly different individuals that were on two divergent paths. It was a joy watching them find and discover each other and their love. The story itself had a lot of twists and turns which made for a very interesting read. I look forward to reading the next installment in this adventure by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk.

I love the supernatural genre, especially vampires, so I was quick to read this book and it did not disappoint! I was really intrigued by the concept of this book and the human, vampire relations and I could not put this book down. If you are looking for a quick paranormal read with an amazing storyline and great characters, this is the book for you.

All I Want For Christmas: Military Romance Shirt Story by Vivian Fiano is a sweet holiday romance that will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit. It is a short, quick story that is great for just getting lost in for a few hours as you read about these characters and their highs and lows. This is a nice easy book to read and for me was a great introduction to this author. It has an easy flow to the writing style and, although short, it was well developed and had a great narrative flow about it. I thought the characters were easy to connect with and I found myself wanting them to get their happily ever after. This was an enjoyable story and a great way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Starvation by Molly Fennig is a book that will completely take over your senses and leave you reeling page after page after page. It is dark and emotional and feels so real it is genuinely frightening at times. Why? Because it speaks about subject that is so emotional and yet happens every day without people realising. The author delves into a world that is foreign to a lot of us and yet so true so many more. The fact that it is told from the POV of a teenage boy just creates a bigger impact and a more lasting impression. For me this book stayed with me long after I had finished reading it. I felt so connected to Wes and his journey. This book is so emotional and really pushes you as the readers to think beyond what you would normally see. This was a well written book that was crafted perfectly. I would highly recommend this book to absolutely everyone!
Hunted by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk is the first book in the Hunted series and was an incredible read! I was drawn in from the first chapter and had trouble putting this book down. This isn’t your typical vampire book, and I really enjoyed reading some of the quirks of vampire abilities I’ve never read in a book before. This book was jam packed with action, suspense, and a little bit of romance, enough to make this book feel like a very quick read. All of the characters were very enjoyable to read, especially Darren and his character development throughout the story. This was a great read and I can’t wait to read the next installment of the series!

Have you ever wished you could erase your memory of reading a book or set of books so you could read them again for the first time and get hit with all those feels for the first time? Well, that’s how I feel about the books in the Secure Boxed Set by R.L. Dunn. Bafore reading the books in this box set I had never read any of R.L. Dunn’s work but these books have made me completely fall in love with her writing. The Secure Boxed Set contains the 3 full length novels that are: Secure Desire – Ian and Cassie’s story Secure Again – Martin and Elizabeth (Beth)’s story Secure Heart – Julian and Holly’s story.
All three of these books completely gripped me from the very beginning, took me on the most amazing roller coaster journey before spitting me out at the very end wondering what the hell I’d just gone through.
If I had to pick a favourite, which is a very, very difficult job as I absolutely adores all three books and all 3 couples, I’d have to pick Secure Heart for one main reason. That reason being that adorable little girl Sadie who totally stole my heart (and Julian’s). Holly’s sick little girl had me in tears so many times. Yeah, I‘d better add a tissues needed warning for this particular book. This little girls outlook on life (and her own possible death) will totally tear at your heartstrings.
In addition to being romance novels, these books are so much more. The danger, intrigue, drama and action with have you totally gripped and not wanting to put these books down.

I really enjoyed this story. It is a vampire romance which I always enjoy. The book drags you in and grips you from the beginning. The author’s does a great job writing the characters so you can’t help but feel the emotion they are going through.
Edith is a vampire. After her fiance dies in the war she is turned into a vampire and for 100 years she has lived with her “daughters” Hope and Angel.
Every year they hold a convention. Its seen as a role play weekend where people can see what the life of a vampire is like and if they want to they can also be turned.
However this time is different. Two of the people on the weekend are Hunters.
Darren and his younger brother Dan are trained as Hunters and its their job to rid the earth of vampires. When Dan goes missing Darren follows him and finds him at Edith’s weekend convention.
Things aren’t what they seem though and Darren and Edith need to work together to figure things out. The closer they work, the closer they become. Can a relationship between them ever work? Can Darren forget being a hunter to save Edith and her family? And what or who is working against them.

Rick: Ingram Brothers #3 By Roz Lee 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Rick: Ingram Brothers #3 by Roz Lee. It is a story that had me hooked from the beginning. I love the characters of Rick Ingram and Brent Whitehall. The attraction/chemistry between them is undeniable. They find themselves roommates. What does the future hold for them? Will they take a chance on their feelings for each other? Read this book to find out. This story has some hot, steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. It also had my emotions go up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about what happens to Rick and Brent with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. There are additional characters that interact with Rick and Brent who I enjoyed reading about. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story that I didn’t want to put down until I had finished the final page. I highly recommend reading both this story and the series.

I loved reading the book Eye of Death (Vampire State Book 3) by Alexander Charalambides. It is a story that pulled me in from the very beginning and I was hooked. It is the next exciting book in a series that I have loved since the first story. The book has an intriguing plot and storyline as well as wonderful characters. This story finds Rowena getting a new romantic interest as well as a new situation that happens in Sanguinia that puts the city in chaos. What does the future hold for Rowena and those she calls friends and allies? Read this book to find out. This story has action and danger. It had me turning pages wondering what is going to happen next. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I would suggest reading these books for you to fully understand the situations that occur in each story. Don’t miss out on an entertaining story that you won’t want to put down until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

Biglow and Zenk know what they are doing. Hunted was a fantastic read! It’s like True Blood meets our crazy world. Vamps and Humans.
Edith has been a vampire since the 1900’s. She has only ever sired two Humans and her sire wants to make more. She meets two boys with the last name of her lover. The quote I chose for Edith is: “Humans and vampires both have their meals in the dining room off to the left.”
Darren is a Hunter and wants to keep his brother safe. When his younger brother wants to go to a Convention he follows. What he doesn’t know is his brother has just signed up to play a vampire. The quote I chose for Darren is: “Sorry about that back there. Don’t mind us. We’re brothers . It’s like my solemn duty to rough him up from time to time. Or, in this case, follow him to some crazy LARP weekend.”
Wow, wow, wow! This book was absolutely amazing. This is my first read by this author, and I can’t believe it’s taken so long to find her! While this is a dark romance read with elements that are emotional and hard! What this book brings is everything! This book has emotions that take you on a journey that is completely separate to the journey this storyline takes you on. This book has suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat it has heartache and characters that you can’t help but love. The chemistry that Gianna and Derek create really bring this story to life, following these two characters and seeing their journey makes this book even more worthwhile. This story is captivating from the very beginning and this author deals with the hard issues wonderfully and with dignity. I highly recommend this read and can’t wait to read more from this author!

This is a tale of vampires and vampire hunters, two sets of people leading very different lives and each others lifelong enemies, but that is just most of the clans, however, the Heartsong Clan wants to change this perspective from one of violence to one of peace and coexistence, that is why they hold “Human vs Vampire” LARP reenactments so that humans can learn a bit about Vampire culture and then maybe chose to become one of them and this weekend is another of these events where humans and vampires mix together for a few days.
This book starts with Edith on her wedding day as she prepares to end her life, she has lost her love and sees nothing else to live for, she just wants to be with him, she is walking into the river with the stones in her pockets until someone calls to her from the bank, this person is Mr Heartsong, a vampire she knows from the VHA (Vampire Human Alliance) and he is trying to glamour her to convince her that Daniel would want her to continue to live and to be happy and also stop her from joining Daniel in death.
100 years to the day she turned, Edith is leading the LARP event with Hope and Angel her two daughters, they are just like any other family, apart from they are vampires and older than they look, as they man the booth where people sign up for the event, a young man, Caden comes to sit and chat with Parker, another vampire and the girls and it turns out he is there to help with the recruitment drive, Edith is initially reluctant to trust the young man, but decides to give him the benefit of the doubt when the girls say that they trust him with their lives, as does Parker. As the day goes on and more people sign up, they have their first “vampire” added to the list, Dan, he is friends with the girls and Caden and it seems that he wants to learn more about the vampire way of life.
Next we meet Darren who is Dan’s brother and only wants to chaperone him to the nerdy convention that his brother is interested in attending, but he feels uncomfortable as soon as he enters the building where he can’t tell the humans and the vampires apart and as a hunter, it is something that he hates. He realises that he has lost Dan in the crowds, but remembers that he spoke about going to meet some friends while there, but getting there that late in the day, Darren is a little worried about him and starts to stress out when he can no longer see him because of their history. Darren has intel that the Heartsong Clan are recruiting at the event and he prays that that isn’t why Dan is here, however, if he is, then it will be a great way to get some inside intel on the Clan while meeting his brothers friends.
This is where Edith and Darren come face to face and meet for the first time and although the insistent banging on her office door is giving her a migraine, she remains polite and as she opens the door, another wave of memories hit her. It is then that he asks to join in the LARP and reluctantly, Edith agrees and gives him a tour of where he will be staying for the weekend, as they do this, Edith explains the rules of the weekend and the game play, as well as what will happen and when. When they see a group with Dan in, Darren takes him to one side and they have an argument about why Dan is there and why he left Darren in the convention and neither of them is happy with the situation, but they both go to the dining room when the bell is sounded for the meal. It is later that night when Darren decides to go and check that Dan is alright that all hell breaks loose as the weekend takes a turn for the worse and this leads to Darrens worst fears, that Dan is in danger and he is realising that Edith is not like any other vampire he has ever met.
Will Dan and Darren be able to escape the convention, or will the vampires show their true natures? Will Edith be able to come to terms with the memories which are flooding back and be honest with herself and Darren and will he be able to be honest with her as they grow closer? The only way to find out is to read along and discover their revelations at the same time they do.
5 stars! Wow! What an excellent read, I was immediately sucked into this book. This book has definite trigger moments and I appreciate that the author makes note of that. The fact that Gianna is strong enough to say enough is enough and gets out of the hell she is living in is so beautiful to me. I felt so disgusted at the fact that Ethan, a cop, planned to meet Gianna and to be with her no matter what. The way he treats her is unacceptable and had me wanting to get into this book somehow. I appreciate how Derek took his time with Gianna, and made sure she was comfortable in everything and with everything. This book was truly remarkable in the way the story was told, the characters are developed and the detailing is laid out. I hope this book reaches other women in similar situations and gives them the strength and courage to finally say they have had enough.

Donovan I’ve been stabbed why is what I want find out. Someone is targeting lawyers but why. The question on Donovan’s mind. Who’s out to get him. This is not your typical vampire book. Donovan is a lie about being a vampire by night. He’s s target in this killer attack but if he can’t be killed who is the next target. Donovan needs to find out before someone is really killed. Can he identify the killer before the next victim is met. This is fast paced and well written I highly recommend it to anyone.

I enjoyed this book. This is a young adult dystopian story that anyone would enjoy. This is a book that doesn’t normally appeal to me but I am happy that I picked it up and gave it a chance. It is written in a way that it is like two books in one. The first one is about Cam who takes on a sustainable community based on an island. It is a place that is protected from the outside and takes on modern values. The second part of this is about Will. He is faced with trying to overcome personal challenges plus a little romance. What will happen when he travels outside of the protected communities? Will he find his love and maybe other communities like he lives in? This book talks alot about environmental situations and what goes into building an eco friendly community. I learned a little bit when reading this book and I am happy I picked it up. I highly recommend this book.

The Sound of Silence (Leave Me Breathless) by Dakota Willink is a dark suspense romance story. Dakota has tackled something that is a raw and emotional subject, domestic abuse, that may cause some triggers, so please tread carefully before you dig in. This compelling and gripping read is very emotive and will make your heart ache and break. This is a story where you are all consumed and coming out the other side seems like a myth. What makes it even harder is who to trust and turn to because someone who is trusted and a part of the law is the one person who is hurting you. I applaud the women who shared their harrowing tales which enabled Dakota to write this beautiful story that sees her passion and compassion shine through. It had me enthralled.

Book Review: All I Want for Christmas Author: Vivian Fiano FIVE STARS Kinsley is fairly new as a military girlfriend. Brysen, her boyfriend has been on active duty for six months now and all she wants for Christmas is to be with him. This story is accurate and will totally tug at your heart strings. Can everyone help her through the tough times? Totally a Hallmark story. KLH
