Conveniently Yours (Titans Of Manhattan BOOK 1) by Anise Storm – Review by Jessica Phillips

Conveniently Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #1)Conveniently Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Conveniently Yours is the first book in the Titans of Manhattan series and it was so good! Caspian was not my favorite at the start of this book… but he definitely started to grow on me with each passing chapter.

Caspian is a successful business man, and loves the life he lives. He’s worked hard for what he has and now it’s threatened and he could loose it all. His dying uncle tells him that if he wants to keep the company he’s running then he needs to get married and stay married for a year and a day.
Caspian, thinks this is nuts! But maybe, he can find someone who will agree to a marriage of convenience.

Paisley is a struggling Artist, trying her best to keep her head above water. With her mom in a coma and medical bills piling up, she’s running out money and hope. Its one bad thing happening after another and she’s out of ideas to keep all the bills paid and her mom taken care of.

After bumping into each other, and a brief catch up over coffee, Caspian makes Paisley an offer that will help them both! They both feel the physical attraction they have for the other, but will that complicate things? Or just make it more interesting? I know I was entertained 🙂

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite Book 3) by Amy McKinley – Review by Desiree Ottinger

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been waiting for this book!!! I was NOT disappointed! I truly enjoyed Stefano and Emiliana’s story.

Emiliana is a victim of Stefano’s vindictive, mafia boss, dad. However, she doesn’t let it define who she is. She might seem like she’s fragile, but she is far from it! I loved her inner strength to overcome the trauma and become a force to be reckoned with. Stefano is also a strong character. He had to deal with so much loss in his life that it turned him into a fierce protector. And Emiliana is his to protect until the end. He is determined that he will do anything, even take down his own dad, to keep her safe. But can he do it before his dad causes more damage? Can he ferret out the rat before all is lost?

Mafia Elite is a well written series. Every character drew me in immediately to their story and I couldn’t help but love them! I am definitely on the lookout for the next book!!

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OH EM GEE!! Born in Darkness was the perfect book 3 in Mafia Elite Series. I love Emiliana and Stefano’s story, I love their character development too, especially when together.
Emiliana is the one he can’t have, for her own safety, but she’s the only 1 Stefano wants. Someone’s after Emiliana the question is who? She’s been in a situation where she was kidnapped before but this time feels different. A situation that has hardened her to likes of her world and the cruelties outside of the mafia as well. Which infuriates Stefano, but he has to keep his mind about him, so he can rise and forcibly replace his father as the head of the Rossi family.
On top of all that they are trying to flush a rat out of the organization, that’s giving away valuable information to the wrong people.
I want to say so much but I’m behaving because I don’t want to spoil the book for others. So I’ll end on this note as some who’s read all 3 books:
If you have yet to read a Mafia Elite book, stop what you’re reading now and start reading this series!
Yes please start with book 1, trust me you’ll get to this book because you won’t want to put it down.
If you’ve read book 1 & 2, what are you waiting for? I know your heart beats for book 3 so go on out and get it!
No matter who comes across this book, trust me when I say you will not be disappointed if you jump head 1st into the Mafia Elite Series!
It’s entertaining, there’s action, there’s romance, there’s death, ect. IT’S WORTH IT!!!!

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just love love love this series and the story of Stefano and Emiliana was dark, twisty, gut wrenching and full of suspense. I recommend reading this series in order from the beginning and you get to really know the mafia families and each character. Stefano and Emiliana’s story is not for the faint of heart. It truly is more dark…..Emiliana’s battle from within after being rescued by Stefano after being kidnapped and the dreams that continue to haunt her. Stefano and biding his time with his very cruel father, who has no problem even punishing his own son if he is out of line, to get more information and hope to take him down. This story really grabs you from page one and does not let go. This book is one roller coaster of emotions and I have been truly vested from the beginning, I cannot get enough of this series.

A Cold Creek Christmas (Reigning Hearts, Book 5) by KG Fletcher – Review by Dahnielle Hibbert

A Cold Creek Christmas (Reigning Hearts, #5)A Cold Creek Christmas by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This sweet Christmas Novella has everything you could ever want in a HEA story for the holidays. There is a grinch whose heart gets softened, there is a little girl who wants nothing more than a new mommy for Christmas and a man who loves his daughter but is lonely. The secondary characters are amazing people and really help the story along. I would say this story is more character driven but very enjoyable nonetheless. This tale could easily be played out on the TV during Hallmark or Lifetime Small Town Holiday Romances. If your looking for a great Holiday HEA look no further! Definitely worth the read!

Practically Pagan - An Alternative Guide to Magical LivingPractically Pagan – An Alternative Guide to Magical Living by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have never really been drawn to “magic” books, but this book kept calling to me. I love how the author tells us that books come into our lives when they are needed, and I need this book. One of the things I am working on in therapy is self-awareness and self-care. I liked the twist that no experience or special supplies needed, the world around us is magical. It was not what I think of when I think of magic, I still think of witches, spells, cauldrons, and black cats. What I think of magic now, is different, life around me is magical and I need to take care of it.

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Em has been in love with Stefano for as long as she can remember. He saved her when they were just children and he hasn’t stopped protecting her since. Hearing the truth of Stefano’s upbringing was heartbreaking and she has always been the one light in his life that made everything bearable. The electricity between Em and Stefano is insanely electric and I was cheering for them the entire time. So many obstacles keep getting thrown in their way and there is so much action and betrayal that I just couldn’t put this book down once I picked it up. The ending is amazing and this book is just as incredible as the others in this series. I highly recommend that you go back and read the others if you haven’t because they definitely all build on each other. I can’t wait to read the next books in this incredibly addictive series.

Red's Peril Part 2: The Prez's Old Lady (Satan's Devils MC Vegas #2)Red’s Peril Part 2: The Prez’s Old Lady by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great 5 star read. This is part 2 of Red’s Peril so make sure you read part 1 first.
Red is surprised to find out that he has a child. Cher isn’t sure if she made the right decision in finding Red, once she found out he is part of an MC. Red has never been able to find another woman like Cher, now that she is back in his life can they rekindle what they started 20 years ago? How will Red react to what Cher has to tell him?

Overall this was a great read. There are some twists, turns and secrets revealed. I have to say that I really loved how Red responded and I fell for him just as much as Cher did. My emotions were all over the place. We get some danger and drama as well. The author does a great job with the storyline and characters, it really opens your eyes to how you should treat others no matter what. If you’re looking for a great read, 1-click and get started today.

A Cold Creek Christmas (Reigning Hearts, #5)A Cold Creek Christmas by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story really shows the true meaning of Christmas. Amber has always hated the holiday season for good reason when her painful past is explained. My heart broke for the sad young girl that has always felt unwanted. Gio senses something in Amber that speaks to his heart from the moment he lays eyes on her. Even though she’s terrified of opening herself up, Gio and Talia quickly start to wriggle their way into her heart. They face a really big stumbling block along the way that is just heartbreaking but the true meaning of Christmas shines through and the ending was so beautiful that it made me tear up. This is a beautiful Christmas romance that you definitely won’t want to miss.

Dead Sound (Things Unseen, #1)Dead Sound by Anise Eden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dead Sound is a romantic suspenseful story. It held my interest because I could not stop turning the pages. The author’s attention to detail is amazing. The story has a fast pace, intriguing plot, and wonderful characters to bring this story to life. This story is about Neve, a psychotherapist who was going to return to work at the hospital after being stabbed by a patient. There is trickery afoot. The people around her and her best friend Irish doctor O’Brien find that there is danger around every corner. Will she follow the clues or will she fall victim again to the evilness around her? I highly recommend this book especially if you like suspenseful plots with romance squeezed into the pages.

Conveniently Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #1)Conveniently Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Conveniently Yours is book one in the Titans of Manhattan series by this author and it was really well written.
I enjoyed the pace of the book and how the characters had met before and found each other again as adults. When the main male character Caspian needs to get married in order to keep something very important to him, and the main female character Paisley needs somewhere to live and money to help care for her mom Caspian gives her a million-dollar offer she cannot refuse.
The characters were well written and the story was a great read and I cannot wait until I can read more by this author!
I would highly recommend this book if you enjoy reading romance and books about billionaires, and lets face it who doesn’t love a romantic story about a billionaire!

This is such a good little book. Anyone could read it, from 5-95. ‘Greatness is Contagious’
This story follows a cat named Priscida and trying to find out how to be great!
What does it take to be great? Is it what you do? Is it who who are around? Is it both of those things and a little bit of love?
This story was well thought out and has great meaning in todays world. The artwork is very cute as well. Being a small artist myself, I love seeing other artists at work.

Conveniently Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #1)Conveniently Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Conveniently Yours had got to be one of my top 5 of the year. I cannot give the author enough praise on this book but it was totally right up my alley. I have read plenty of books like this but this one definitely stands out. Caspian is Manhattan socialite and can have any woman he wants. He finds out his uncle Preston is very sick and Preston is the reason Caspian is what he is. Preston adopted Caspian at a young age and raised him as if he was his biological son. Caspian owes everything he has to his uncle. Uncle Preston had his will done and Caspian must marry and stay married for 1 year in order to keep the company.

Caspian is livid over this and doesn’t think he will be able to go through with this but he will stop at nothing to keep this company he has worked so hard for.

Paisley is down on her luck. She has literally hit rock bottom and has nothing or no one accept her mom who is in a coma and needs to be moved to a rehab facility. Caspian and Paisley literally run into eachother and start talking. They haven’t seen eachother in 2 decades and if Caspian can trust anyone, Paisley would be the one.

Is only 1 year and 1 day. Can they do it? Will they be able to have this fake marriage for 366 days and be able to walk away at the end? Uncle Preston is the most important person in Caspian’s life so how will Caspian react when his uncle doesn’t accept Paisley as a suitable person for his nephew to marry.

I thought this book was well written, loved the characters and cannot wait for more. This book was definitely one of my favorites.

A Cold Creek Christmas (Reigning Hearts, Book 5) by KG Fletcher – Review by Jennifer Gordon

A Cold Creek Christmas (Reigning Hearts, #5)A Cold Creek Christmas by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A lovely, sweet Christmas romance which was an enjoyable and engaging read. This wonderfully written novella is a standalone story, although part of a series, all of which I’ve enjoyed. In this story, Amber Tatum the real life Grinch of Cold Creek meets Christmas loving single Dad Giovanni Sentieri. With a little bit of Christmas magic, hopefully they get their HEA. Bar owner Amber’s hatred of Christmas stems from bad memories from her childhood, and so she now doesn’t join in with all the small towns annual traditions. Amber also craves a family of her own and when she meets Italian chef Giovanni she starts to think her dreams might come true. Gio is ready to make a home for himself and his daughter, and has taken over his grandmother’s Italian Café in Cold Creek. Struggling to balance being a single father and work as well as getting over a devastating divorce Gio was not looking for a new relationship, but when he meets Amber he can not deny their connection.
Gio is determined to make Amber love Christmas as much as he does and so invites her to spend the holiday with him and his family. Amber has to choose to either take a chance at love and a family or stay as she is, as the self proclaimed Grinch of Cold Creek. This is a contemporary Christmas romance, and I loved Gio and Amber and was cheering them on hoping they would get their HEA. The instant attraction and chemistry between the couple came across in the story and led to some steamy scenes. The wonderfully Christmas setting of Cold Creek was brought to life by the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in small town living. This heartwarming novella really put me in a festive mood.

Red’s Peril Part 2: The Prez’s Old Lady (Satan’s Devils MC Las Vegas Chapter) by Manda Mellett

This is not the first book I’ve read by the author. I’ve read most of the Satan’s Devils MC Series and I’ve got to say they keep getting better and better. The author knows how to keep the readers interested.

Red has worked his way up to being Prez. When he runs into an old flame and sees that the kid she has looks like him things change. Can he accept his kid for the way they are? Challenges come, but Red isn’t backing down. The quote I chose for Red is: “Your mom and I need to have a conversation. To say I didn’t expect things to turn out how they have when I came here today is the understatement of the century. But whatever, you’ll be seeing me around. Now I know I’m your dad, I’m not going to stay away.”

Cheryl is now going by Cher and has been raising Zeke on her own. She wanted to let Red know, but had no way of contacting him to let him know. Zeke isn’t like most kids and prefers to be called them and they. Can she let Red back into her life? The quote I chose for Cher is: “I was stupid. My only excuse is that I was young, and never before had been away from home. I missed my mom, missed my creature comforts. It wasn’t until I watched you ride away, that I knew I missed you more.”

Highly recommended for MC Romance lovers.

Do not. I repeat, do not read this novel if 1. if it is in your intention to have a quick read before bed and 2. You are thinking or reading it while running errands. Ummm, no, sleep will be banished and errands will remain on that To-Do list. This author knows how to shake down a great story and take prisoners. Listen, I was captivated from the minute I started reading. Would it be shameful to say that, although the novel consists of 400+ pages; I wanted it to be longer? One would assume that the reader in me would be appeased with the conclusion of Caspian and Paisley’s story. But not so, my piqued interest was left wanting to know more about the men who deemed themselves Titans of Manhattan [thank God that this is a series]. Conveniently Yours was artistically written not only with characters that grow on you but also had some relatable scenarios. I am going to be corny and say that this is worth reading twice. This author has got herself a fan. I am super excited to read the next novel in the series. It was great to escape reality with this one.

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite Book 3) by Amy McKinley – Review by Karyn Taylor

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in this dark mafia romance series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but it makes sense to read them in order to get the best enjoyment of the series and not give yourself spoilers.
I have been a huge fan of this author since the very first book of hers that I read and she continues to produce amazing books that I just lose myself in and this book is another one of those.
In this book we get the story of underboss Stefano Rossi and mafia princess Emiliana Vitale. Both have been in love with each other for years but due to Stefano’s cruel mafia boss father, they have had to keep their feelings under wraps and try to stay away from each other as much as possible.
I absolutely loved Stefano and Emiliana’s story. It’s very angsty as the two of them try to keep apart and I do love a good angsty story.
As with the other romantic suspense novels by this author, as well as the romance storyline, there is also another storyline running alongside, that of the mafia family and the dangers surrounding them. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline that runs through this book and could not put this book down.
This author is definitely a master (or is it mistress?) or writing amazing romantic suspense and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is  book 3 in the Mafia Elite series. I love this authors writing. The characters are really well written and I love them all. Even though it is a Mafia Romance where the men are strong and protective of what is there’s the women are also equally strong and determined.

This story is a bit of a Romeo and Juliet story. A man and a woman from 2 different Mafia families fall in love but it isn’t possible for them to be together. All because of Stefano’s father.
He is a horrible, dangerous man who will stop at nothing to keep Stefano in line. Even if that means hurting the woman he loves Emiliana.

Emiliana is also dealing with her own demons after her kidnapping, she struggles to control the darkness that has awoken inside her. The only light in her life is the love of Stefano and she is counting down the days till they can be together.
The problem is Stefano’s father needs to be out of the picture. But before Stefano can take over his family they need to find the rat that is buried somewhere in the families causing trouble and putting lives in danger.
But who is the rat? Is it Stefano’s father? Could he be working with the Russans? Or is it someone closer to home.

This book is full of adventure, danger and passion. It is a Mafia Romance written in a way that keeps you guessing and wanting more.

This is a Children’s book and is 26 pages in length. My boys are 7 and 10 and still believe. My 7-year-old, however, has started asking questions because he has been hearing things at school. I read this to them. I know I for one am not looking forward to the day they find out. I love how the author found a child’s way to keep the belief alive and the illustrations were wonderful! This is one of those books that should be handed down for generations to come.

Fall to Pieces by Becky Flade – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Fall to PiecesFall to Pieces by Becky Flade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fall to Pieces is a tense romantic suspense that’s impossible to put down! Lexi’s career and mental health are threatened by the loss of her husband and the surrounding circumstances. When a new case turns up that reopens old wounds, just when she is being investigated by Internal Affairs, Lexi has to fight to cling on to her job and sanity. And, of course, solve the case.
Arthur Book is a chillingly scary villain. He’s an expert in manipulation and seems able to, literally, get away with murder. I found myself anxiously turning the page, worried about when he would next show up. And there are some twists and turns as Lexi tries to learn more about him to find a vulnerability she can exploit.
Lexi has a great support network, and I love this cast of characters. Trudy and Buzz were my particular favourites! They’re interesting characters in their own right and there to support Lexi or help further the plot where needed.
Xavier is an interesting character, and I like that he has complex motivations and a backstory. He makes a good foil to Lexi – grounded and reaching out to others while she tries to isolate herself.
This book gets five stars from me. I couldn’t put it down! I really hope we get more stories with these characters. I’d recommend it to fans of police dramas and mysteries.

At this point I’m starting to sound like a broken record but my goodness this series is phenomenal, a must read!!! This Mafia series is one of the best I’ve ever read, it’s intense, dramatic, action-packed, mysterious, shocking, twisted and so complex. I would highly recommend reading this series in order as each new book follows the last.

Just like the other books of this series I read this one in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading, once I started I couldn’t stop until I reached the very end. I loved everything about this book, it might actually be my favorite of the series!!

This book carries a great message for all of us, great acts are made of small deeds. I read this to my 6-year-old and she found humor out of the things the cat was able to do, such as read and ride a bike. After we finished the story, we talked about some small acts that we have done, or we could do in the future to be great. The lesson you take away from this story is one that will go far. A great story for all kids to listen to or read on their own. I would have enjoyed more illustrations, especially for the younger kids to reflect on but overall, great story.

So, after finishing this and having read most of Ms. McKinley’s books now, I have come to the conclusion that she could write the phone book and make it addictive reading! Seriously!!! If you have yet to pick up one of her many books, what are you waiting for? You will kick yourself for missing out this long.
Born in Darkness is another gem in Ms. McKinley’s crown- a stellar mafia romance, it is the third book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. A masterfully woven romantic suspense story with action, violence, mafia politics, second chances, family dynamics, friendship, chemistry, sizzle, secrets, drama, intrigue, tension, and edge of your seat developments.
This book is Stefano and Emiliana’s story, I was excited to dive in and honestly say Ms. McKinley doesn’t rest on her laurels here, she ups the ante yet again, grabbing me right from the get-go and had me flipping the pages to find out what happens, all while proving once again that this series just gets better and better with each new release.
If you haven’t read the previous two books, I highly recommend that you do, as not only are they fantastic stories in their own rights, they also contain important information that will help you better appreciate this story, as well as building a bigger picture.
I love this series and the wonderfully complex characters that take centre stage here. I have a serious addiction to Ms. McKinley’s stories and need my next fix stat- Book #4 can’t come soon enough and looks set to be brilliant!!!
Take my word for it- if you love mafia romance, romantic suspense, wonderfully developed characters, depth, and addictive reading- then you definitely won’t want to miss this exciting story or series!!!
Happy reading!

Thank you, Amy McKinley!

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This installment brings us the development between Emiliana Vitale and Stefano Rossi. If you have read the previous novels, you will have some more information on them and the others that we have read about so far, and I really enjoy feeling as though we have already gotten to know a bit about these characters before delving deeper into their love story. Poor Em suffers from PTSD from her abduction a few years prior, where our knight in shining armor came to carry her right out of hell. Stefano has had to deal with his own ‘darkness’ being the son of Frank, devil incarnate, and has struggled with keeping his distance from Em only to keep her safe. I for one, was swept off my feet by their love story.

I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this new installment to this series. I have had my sleuth hat on from the very first novel, and I was very much looking forward to knowing whether I was right in my assumptions. I absolutely adore the way this author reels you in, and feeds you information, but with the twists and turns, and introductions of new characters, doubt creeps in. Of course, I won’t tell you who the rat in the Five Families was, but I was very proud of my skills. Another one for the books, highly recommend!

I loved watching Emiliana develop her strength and ability to overcome traumatic events in her life that involve the mofia boss…who happens to be Stefano’s dad. I also love how strong Stefano is in this book. He has gone through more than anyone should have to and still is a fierce figure in this story.
