Painter of the Damned (Painted Souls, #2)Painter of the Damned by Rob Samborn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Painter of the Damned (Painted Souls Book 2) by Rob Samborn. I loved this first book and this one was no different. I flew through the pages as fast as I possibly could. Its such a good thriller. Its the story of Nick and Julia O’Conner who are trying to make it back to the USA from a vacation from hell. They have been thru murders, arrests and all kinds of mayhem. They make it almost to the border when they are arrested. Julia is freed but Nick is charged with murder and sent back to Venice. Nick sends Julia to find Carlo to help her find an attorney for him but little does he know he’s sent Julia right to the enemies camp. Carlo is the new painter for the new order and he may be behind all the chaos. This book has flashbacks of Nick’s life and tells parts of the story. You need to really pay attention to know what’s going on and also I highly recommend reading the 1st book before this one. It makes it so much more enjoyable. Pick up a copy of this book and get ready for a high speed ride you won’t soon forget!

The Fifth Daughter of Thorn Ranch by Julia Brewer Daily – Review by Amy Brennan

The Fifth Daughter of Thorn RanchThe Fifth Daughter of Thorn Ranch by Julia Brewer Daily
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think it’s important for all people, of all ages, to run with their ideas and make their dreams come true. This author, in my opinion has done just that. The fact that she started writing and has shared what has come from the inner depths of her mind, based on true events, and those that have eloquently come together to allow the reader to jump in and not want to come back out. I didn’t know what to expect from this novel, but I am so very glad that I picked it up, because it’s certainly something that took my mind of current events and let me disappear into farm life in Texas.

The descriptive adventure that transpires will make you want to pull your hair, scratch your head, put on another sweater, and sit by the fire while snow falls to really put you in the zone. I definitely wish I had more time to spend on this author, and this review, but I needed to say, well done! Fellow readers, you won’t regret picking this up. Do it, now!

This is the first book I read from this author. I loved it! This is book 3 of 3, but could be easily read alone. The characters are fantastic. There are a few different story lines, but still easy to follow each story. The ending ended on a cliffhanger, so I’m eager to see if the author is going to release another book.

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3)Malayeka by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such an adorable story! It’s part of a series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. We meet Malayeka, an ethereal being or angel, who, along with her with her five “sisters”, work for Cupid to help him with his workload in helping people fall in love. Malayeka is given an assignment to help two people fall in love, Billie Reid and Leo Thomson. The catch, they live in a small town and their families have been feuding for decades and it’s ugly. I loved how well written the characters were and Malayeka was hilarious in her efforts to help them fall in love. I found the story flowed well and had a use of both humor and heart. Highly recommended!

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Dawn Brown

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Adrik had a horrible childhood with some trauma that resulted in facial dis-figuration. After living on the streets as a teen, he finally gets up the courage to ask the Russian mafia for a job. After being hired, he fell in love with a mafia princess but he cannot get close to her or let her see his face.
Annika was attacked five months ago leaving her wheelchair bound. When the psycho came back for her, her mafia family sends her off to a secluded house in the middle of the night under watch. She requests Adrik be a guard. Once there, the two grow close but he must protect her at all cost and he is not suppose to get close to her.
Opinion
This is the fifth book in the series but the first one I’ve read. I found that I was able to follow the story quite easily, even though I haven’t read any other books in the series.
I’m a lover of mafia romances. This book is a lot less violent that other mafia books that I have read and would be perfect for those interested but squeamish.
The story is cute, mafia princess falls in love with a guard. I just found it odd that Adrik would not let Annika see his face and would cover it up with hair and a hoodie. If he is guarding her, he should be able to see all around them at all times. Covering your face up would not allow this. Other than this oversight, I think the book was a great and sweet love story.

Revenge Never Rests
By: Laurie Lewis

This book is the second book in the Tallie Brown series. I never read the first book before stumbling upon this book and I will say that it pretty much works as a standalone. I do highly recommend reading the first book first, only because there is a lot of backstory needed that made the first portion of the book hard for me to follow. However, once I got a grasp on the characters and their backstory, I found the book absolutely impossible to put down. As a character, I really liked Tallie. Her back story was hard to relate to at first, but she is such an interesting and complex character that I found it impossible not to root for her. I don’t want to give too much information because anything else will spoil it. Pay close attention when reading this because there are so many clues hidden throughout this book. It definitely hooked me and didn’t let me go until the next page. I can’t wait to continue reading more about these characters in upcoming books!

This is a well written story that is full of mafia romance, trust and some rules are meant to be broken. I enjoyed how the characters brought the story to life on each page. They pulled me into their story from the start and had me coming back for more. They have great growth and chemistry throughout the story. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. It is an engaging story that you don’t want to miss. Will rules be broken? Is there a happily ever after? This is such a great story, I highly recommend this book.

Secrets Never Die (Tallie Brown Suspense Book 1) by Laurie Lewis – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Secrets Never DieSecrets Never Die by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An entertaining read, which had me gripped from start to finish. In this page turner of a novel, Tallie Brown’s life never made sense, she was brought up in isolation by her mother, Julia. Who would take her from one third-world outpost to another, suddenly and without explanation. Life normalised for Tallie when her mother took a position on a mountaintop in the Pacific northwest. However, when Julia unexpectedly dies, Tallie soon discovers that her mother had a secret life. Meanwhile, Journalist Jackson James’s promising career ended, resulting in him working as the editor of a community rag in a posh D.C. suburb. When a lead about a potential scandal takes him to the dying Virginia coal town, Cutler’s Ridge, he meets a mysterious and beautiful woman, Tallie.
Both Tallie and Jackson are loners and do not trust easily, but as their stories become intertwined they come to the conclusion that something terrible happened in Cutler’s Ridge. There are those in the town who want the past to stay hidden, and the couple are soon threatened putting them in danger. This was a fast paced story with great characters, an atmospheric small town setting, and a storyline full of drama and suspense. The likeable and relatable Tallie was a great main character, and I liked how her relationship with Jackson developed throughout the story. The descriptive narrative brought the setting vividly to life and made me feel immersed in the storyline. An enjoyable and engaging read, which I definitely recommend.

This is the second book by this author that I have read. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first one I read. This is a well written story that is full of romance and suspense. A story that is fast paced and hard to put down. He is a protector in the shadows until she is more curious and gets closer to him. There is great growth both in the plot and character throughout the story. Their chemistry is off the charts which made the story easy and entertaining to read. I enjoyed how they pulled me into their world with ease. They made me feel as if I was part of their story. The suspense had me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next with them. This is a really great story and I highly recommend it.

Revenge Never RestsRevenge Never Rests by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and entertaining novel, which had me hooked from start to finish. Having read book one and been introduced to the main character, Tallie Brown, I was looking forward to continuing her story, and I was not disappointed. This second novel picks up where the previous one ended, so I would recommend reading them in order. Tallie was raised by a paranoid woman on the run, and having spent her life hiding from the ghosts of her mothers past, she uses her unique skills to track down those who have simply vanished. When Tallie responds to an Amber Alert for a missing girl, it leads her to discover that General Cai Kaswell, her newly discovered father, and the world’s best hope for peace is amongst the vanished.

Tallie gets drawn into a conspiracy that links her past to the string of unsolved disappearances, and her search for answers sends her around the world. Having nearly lost her trusted friends, Tallie is assigned to a charming operative, but she doesn’t fully trust them, and has to watch her own back as she searches for General Kaswell. Tallie learns that she may be the unwitting catalyst for all the disappearances, resulting in both Tallie and her father being lured into a plot that will threaten the Constitution, and the balance of world power. This is a fast paced, page turner of a story, and I was kept gripped throughout. The storyline is full of drama and suspense and the plot twists keep it from becoming predictable. I love Tallie, she’s a likeable and realistic main character, who is easy to feel engaged with. A five star read and one which I definitely recommend.

This book is utterly fantastic. It really pulled me in from the start and could not read enough about Adrik! This has been a strong series so far but I think this book has to be my favourite. It seemed to have that extra level and I really connected with it. The story was dark an intense and the whole book had an exciting feel to it.
This is still a relatively new author to me and yet with each book she solidifies her place as a go to author. Even though I have just finished this book I am already looking forward to the next.

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Jenni Bishop

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Leslie Georgeson writes a gripping dark and twisted tale that has become addicting. She writes compelling, and complex characters that will entice you to want a closer look.
Beast is the fifth book and is a thrilling forbidden love secret crush romance story where the main character is anything but ordinary. His looks alone scare people that is where his name Beast came from. Annika has led a sheltered life as a Bratva princess. She is off limits as the Boss’s daughter, but he can’t help but love her. She is the one thing that is able to see past his scars and see him for who he truly is.
This book in the Popov Bratva series is full of everything you could want to keep the reader enthralled. As with the other books in the series there is intrigue and suspense, passion and angst, lies and deceit, secrets and betrayal, danger and violence.
It reminded me a bit of Beauty and the Beast in a twisted and dark Mafia way with a scarred and broken man, a forbidden princess and a monster of a stalker this instalment will have your heart breaking and melting at the same time. There are also some steamy moments that will fog up your glasses, moments when you are on the edge of your seat and moments when you will need the tissue box.
Don’t miss this gripping tale.

I loved the first book in this series and equally fell in love with this the second book, Revenge Never Rests. I enjoy Laurie’s writing style and her compelling way of telling a story. Her first book Secrets Never Die where we were first introduced to Tallie was one of the best suspense stories I had read this year and this one is just the same.
The interesting characters are well developed and believable and easy to like.
Will Tallie be one of the hundreds who disappeared as she finds herself drawn into this conspiracy?
This is an action-packed tale with drama, twists and turns that keep the suspense real.
Add this to your TBR list and prepare to be wowed.
No spoilers here. I really can’t say enough good things about this book except that you need to discover this gripping world that Laurie has created all by yourself.

There is a caution with this book so make sure to check it out before reading the book.
The Daredevil is a friends-to-lovers contemporary romance tale where the suspense is often palpable. Nadia has done it again with secrets and lies, danger and hope, steam and passion there is something for all to enjoy. It is the second book in the WaterFyre Rising series and can be read as a standalone, but I encourage you to read book 1 first as it is such a good read.
As the books title suggests the Daredevil is living life on the edge and the high and the thrill that goes with it. That is until he meets her. It is the one that could make him whole again?

This is the third book in this series and just as the previous two, I was in love by the end of the first chapter. The author did an excellent job keeping you from wanting to put this book down. She did a phenomenal job with her characterization. I personally felt as if I knew these characters. I thought she did an amazing job building the story, so I was able to visually view the world around me. I loved how she weaved the story into a lesson that everyone needs to know which is how one small mistake can impact so many lives and individuals. This is a very wholesome book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend you give this a read.

This is the second in the WayerFyre Rising series but you do not need to read the first to read this one. The main characters start off as friends from the same group who run into each other in Iceland. They get to be better friends and fake ( not for long) date. The suspense and action is well written. There are plot twists that surprise you and keep you on your toes. Some of the scenes may be too spicy for some (not me but some people may not like it). All in all great book!

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Karyn Taylor

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 5th book in a fantastic Mafia Romantic Suspense series. Although part of a series, each book can be read as a standalone. I started this series by reading book 4 and did not feel that I was left missing any necessary information to enjoy and understand the book. The same can be said of this book.
Having read book 4, I was quite intrigued by the character Beast and I was so glad to find out that we were getting his story next. Named Beast due to his face being badly scarred and damaged in a dog attack when he was younger, Adrik has no hopes of ever finding a woman who will see past his scars and fall in love with him. Definitely not Mafia princess Annika Popov who he has secretly crushed on for many years. All that changes when he is put in charge of keeping her safe from an attacker who has already tried to kill her.
I really loved Adrik and Annika’s story. Ardik is an amazing character. Such a tortured, wounded soul with a horrendous past. I totally fell in love him reading this book. I also adored Annika. She’s not a typical mafia princess full of airs and graces with no regard for others. She’s totally taken by the strange Adrik and can’t fathom the pull that he has on her.
This is a beautiful story to read. I loved reading how Annika’s patience and love brought out the true Adrik and that he got the HEA he so desperately deserved.
100% recommend.

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 2nd book in this fantastic series which I’ve loved so far. This book technically can be read as a standalone but I think you’d enjoy it more and understand it better if you have read the first book in the series beforehand.
In this 2nd book Austin is trying to mend his heart after losing the girl he loves to his twin brother Josh. I have to say that I wasn’t the biggest fan of Austin in the first book as Josh and Mavis were always destined to be together. Austin should not have gone near Mavis in a romantic way. Reading this book, we see a whole different side of Austin and realise that he really did love Mavis and was totally heartbroken. I have to say that I totally fell in love with Austin in this book. As for Casey, well, she’s a total breath of fresh air. She’s quirky, sassy and rather awesome and she’s just exactly what Austin needed.
I really enjoyed reading Austin and Casey’s story. It really takes you on an emotional journey. I was gripped by the story from the very beginning and did not want to put the book down. I just had to know how their story turned out.
In addition to Austin and Casey’s story we get the beginnings of what will be Lauren and Mitch’s story in the third book and I’m already excited for that.

I had a lot of curiosity as I read and I loved how the book kept me engaged and interested in the plot and the characters. I loved the development with characters and the relationships around them as well! The book had lot of intrigue, and suspense that builds up, in a good way, and left you nothing short of intrigued! Loved it!

Amazing writing with the story development!

Painter of the Damned (Painted Souls, #2)Painter of the Damned by Rob Samborn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Painted Souls series and wow these books just keep getting better. These books are a perfect mix of history and mystery all wrapped up. The story flows really well and doesn’t get confusing when it switches between the past and present.

Nick and Julia are our main characters, however the story mainly revolves around Nick and his past life. I would really recommend reading the first book in this series so you get a proper understanding of Nicks story and why him and Julia are in the situation they are now.

After their trip to Venice turned into a scary disaster all they want to do is return home and as far away from Venice as possible. They head to the American consulate however they get stopped and captured before they get there. Interpol is convinced that Nick is hiding secrets from his past life and they plan to get to the truth.
Now it is a race against time for Julia to try and save her husband but without knowing where to turn and who to trust will she even be able to do that? What does Nick remember about the past and is it what his captures are after?

The story is really well woven with past meeting present. The descriptions really bring the characters and Venice to life for me.

Beautiful! BEAUTIFUL! B-E-A-UUUUUUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!
This book hits me right in the mommy heart! I love how it pretty much says it all with hopes of how we all want our babies to be!

I also love the illustrations throughout the book! It shows us that even though parenting can be different standpoints we all want the absolute best for our babies. It doesn’t matter if you are black, white, purple, green, or even pink. It doesn’t matter if you are a single dad, single mom, or the Brady bunch. Wanting your child to be kind is the same from us all.

I would 1000000% give this book a 100 stars. 5 is just not enough!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a romantic suspense that is exciting and full of drama. Someone is sabotaging Royce’s business and it goes back a long way. Michelle has come to Iceland to use her blog to help market a new line of cosmetics. Right off the bat you can feel the sparks ignite between these two. The author has written in such a way that you feel the ignition. There is a little spice in the book, it totally fits and keeps the ice away. I found the suspense and adventure keeps your adrenaline going as you are reading. You feel like you’re in the story. I felt engaged from the beginning. I’m becoming a fan of this series since The Mastermind. The protagonist is a strong woman that can get through the challenge and let’s the man help her at times. She’s brave but knows when she needs help. The plot was outstanding. I enjoyed trying to figure out who did it and what was going on. I like it when a book gives me this kind of plot along with romance. Big fan of romantic suspense here. I loved this book and believe that you should read it too.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was hooked on every word right from the very start and I didn’t want to put the book down! I loved the characters who drew into my heart right from the very start. Reading all that both Adrik and Annika had been through was very emotional but also showed us that you can persevere through anything and come out stronger. In some ways both characters see themselves defined by what they see as their flaws but at the same time try help each other to realise that to be untrue. When danger comes after Annika yet again Adrik is the only one who can save her and he will do absolutely anything to do just that!
This is the 5th book in this series and the first one that I have read. I had no problem reading it and fully enjoying it as it does read easily as a stand alone however I will now be going back and reading all the previous books for the series as I am completely intrigued now to find out the full stories for all the other characters mentioned in this book. I just know they will be great too!

Oh man, book 2 of the Tallie Brown saga. Absolute heaven. It picks up where book 1 left off. I’m not going into it because it would be a spoiler. The story is well done. Our protagonists carry on and have to continue to work on their relationship as they work to solve the mystery of what happened to Tallie’s father. Who are the antagonists? Who did it? The characters are fantastic and developed so well. Again, you feel all the emotion as if you are in the story with them. The book feels like it may end there but I vote for the author to continue on with this and making it a series. I loved this and I would give the whole thing more than 5 stars if I were allowed to. Well done!!!! One of my absolute favorites of 2022.
