First thing- I loved that the author gave us all the codes at the start to help understand. This book was amazing, full of twists and turns.<br />Detective Nick and Victor get handed a case, suicide? But with all the clues it definitely seems like it’s something else. Will they be able to solve the case. Who was out for the victim? Laura Howard is a cake whiz, even though she’s still dealing with her crazy twin- but she’s in prison but still making Laura’s life hell. Laura and Nick are still trying to figure out where they are going. If they are going to start a relationship or be friends. Can they make it work between Nick’s case, and Laura’s twin?

What Actually Happened to Isaac Moore by Samantha J. Rose – Review by Brittany Angel

What Actually Happened to Isaac MooreWhat Actually Happened to Isaac Moore by Samantha J. Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What Actually Happened to Isaac Moore is a fantastic fantasy novel that gives you everything you expect in a fantasy novel. You have pirates, magical creatures, far away lands, and battles. You meet a lot of characters a long the way and I will have to say that Nothe really stole the show for me on this one. It was wrapped up nicely but boy do I wish there were some novellas with additional adventures for each of the characters.

Underboss’s Retaliation (Sicilian Gods Book 2) by Via Mari – Review by Barbara Bohls

Underboss's Retaliation (Sicilian Gods Book 2)Underboss’s Retaliation by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the series and it didn’t disappoint. You will find yourself invested in the characters from the very beginning. If you didn’t read the first book in the series, I would recommend it but it isn’t necessary as you will pick up things along the way to fill in the blanks. I think that this series is amazing and is really well written. There is the danger that you would expect in any mafia story but the twists and turns that this books takes are things that even someone like me who reads everything mafia didn’t see coming. The passion that takes place between the characters will have you fanning yourself and blushing at the same time. This book has it all, mystery, conflict, romance, steam, danger, and an everlasting love. If you are a fan of mafia books or just a really good love story, I highly recommend this book. Enjoy reading this book as you wont able to put it down once you start and be prepared to feel all the emotions as the characters, that is how you know it is a good book.

Revenge Never Rests (Tallie Brown Suspense Book 2) by Laurie Lewis – Review by Barbara Bohls

Revenge Never RestsRevenge Never Rests by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am not sure where to begin with this book because so much happened. It is amazing and really well written. Everything is in the details. There are so many twists and turns in this book that once you think you figured things out, plot twist, and you are back to square one. This book kept me on the edge of my seat constantly turning pages to see what was going to happen next. The suspense in this book is a slow burn that build throughout the book. This book has so many things going for it that you don’t miss the graphic scenes or foul language, which are normally on my must read lists. I was able to keep a steady pace reading this book. I was able to get sucked into the story line and wasn’t able to stop reading until I was done. This is the second book in the series and while it can be read as a stand a lone, I would highly recommend reading the first book in the series. It will allow you to be able to keep up with characters in the book faster. This can be done without reading the previous book but it will take a few chapters to really understand what is going on. If you do go in without reading the first book in the series, don’t worry the character development and the way the author goes in depth will bring you up to speed. I just recommend it because everything just builds with the characters. If you are looking for a fast paced suspenseful read, I highly suggest this book.

If I Had a Magic Wand by Melissa Lavi – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

If I had a Magic WandIf I had a Magic Wand by Melissa Lavi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is so beautiful and heartwarming! If I had a Magic Wand is a book about wishes for our babies and children of the world. The magic wand is handed from parent to parent and baby to baby throughout the pages. With each pass there is another wish/dream for our babies. It’s also a rhyming book so kids can learn at the same time as reading a book for bedtime. This magical book shares messages for all parents, soon to be parents, and anyone who believes in the magic of our children’s futures. I got this book for my girls who are 7 and 10. Of course with them both it was an easy read, but they enjoyed the pictures and the wishes as the book went along. I think this would be a wonderful baby shower book or maybe even a 1st birthday book for kiddos. So pretty and inspiring!

But she notices a problem with some of the selections and guess what? She gets an idea! She was the perfect age for them, but I really think that younger kids would enjoy them as well, with a little help with the bigger words.

Amaleigha is a five year old who has some big ideas. Her grandparents always say that she will change the world. After spending a lot of time in her backyard barefoot doing things she loves, she has an amazing idea. But ideas need plans and actions! Which means she needs help! She brings the idea and plan to her family. She just has to share all the things she loves with them! And maybe even the world!! With the help of her family, friends, and even the community those plans are put into actions! They open something that will change their community for the better. Amaleigha and the Big Idea by Janice Pratt – Review by Barbara Bohls

Amaleigha and the Big IdeaAmaleigha and the Big Idea by Janice Pratt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a super cute story. It can be enjoyed by both little kids and adults. It shows how with a little work big things can happen. I think this a lesson that everyone needs to be reminded of every now and then. The amazing illustrations in this book really help showcase the authors words. This book also touches on being seen as weird to others because the main character is wrapped up in what she loves. It shows that just because people don’t see things the same way doesn’t mean that everyone can’t enjoy them. Amaleigha wants to share her love for the outdoors with the world and her big thinking can help get that accomplished.
This is a super cute short read that has some valuable life lessons that everyone can relate to. I highly recommend reading this book to yourself and your kids.

Practically Pagan – An Alternative Guide to Magical Living by Maria DeBlassie – Review by Brittany Angel

Practically Pagan - An Alternative Guide to Magical LivingPractically Pagan – An Alternative Guide to Magical Living by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I went into this book thinking it would have some more alternative pagan practices and how that application applies to your day to day life. Only this reads much more like a self help book for those stuck in a rut and looking for a way out with a magical aspect. It is written very well and has a lot of information on what needs to be unlearned in your journey to make room for more fulfilling things. Would be great for anyone looking to make changes in their lives and to connect with the divine feminine.

Degrees of Innocence: Dark Mafia Romance (Cruel Deceptions Book 1) By Via Mari – Review by Brittany Angel

Degrees of Innocence (Prestian Series, #1)Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Degrees of Innocence is the first novel in the Cruel Deceptions series. While at a resort preparing for a week-long training and development session for a new medical center, Katarina meets a mysterious stranger named Chase under interesting circumstances. She soon learns that he isn’t entirely who he says he is thus starting a whirlwind of drama and pure lust. This feels very 50 Shades of Grey adjacent as Chase is very much Elijah from the vampire diaries and Christian Grey morphed into one man. While Katarina is a sweet, innocent, career driven woman. This was a quick, entertaining read that can absolutely be read in one sitting plus there are several books in this series ready to be devoured.

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Barbara Bohls

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a very easy to read book. It went quickly for me because I couldn’t put it down. The characters grasped me by the heart strings in the very beginning. This book has its share of drama and edge of the seat suspense. The characters have trauma and growth. This book hits on everything that I enjoy in a book. It gives the characters a voice, almost as if they are speaking to the author in person. The details in the book are in a class above most. Being able to actually visualize the events in the books AND feel the emotions that the characters have makes this book one that can’t be put down. You will feel yourself giving off the emotions of the characters to anyone who dares to try to talk to you while reading it. Tears to raging anger and everything in-between is the emotional roller coaster you will go on. I highly suggest this book to anyone who is wanting to escape from their own reality for a little while. Must read!!!

States of GraceStates of Grace by Mandy Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Grace is a down on her luck former state prosecutor who finds herself fresh out of jail, in recovery, and just trying to get by. She finds herself on the opposite side of justice now defending criminals instead of prosecuting them. When the case that could put her back on top “seemingly” falls into her lap. This book was a non-stop read through. I could not put it down, and for someone who doesn’t delve into this specific genre, that’s saying something! I enjoyed everything about this book. The story. The characters, and the twists! I can’t wait to read more about Grace Locke.

Sandy a runaway turned exotic dancer who falls in love with a married mobster. Becca, a white college student whose parents disapprove of her first love, a black man. Fall to Pieces by Becky Flade – Review by Barbara Bohls

Fall to PiecesFall to Pieces by Becky Flade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is completely different from what I normally read. Yes there is romance which is right up my alley but it seemed more of a mystery to me. The suspense is there but the focus seems to be on finding the person who did these acts. It is also about self discovery after loss. The characters in this book are great and have an amazing character development throughout the book. The story line is amazing and it will keep you turning the pages in order to figure out who did what and if they will actually be able to catch the person who did these things. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because even though there is a love story in the book it seems to be more about the mystery/thrill of the story, I highly recommend reading this is suspense/mystery/thrill with a side of romance is your thing.
