My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series, but this can be read as a standalone if you want. I enjoyed the first book as well, so you’ll likely circle back to enjoy more of this fantastic writing! The author expertly crafts a mysterious adventure with phenomenal characters. It feels like you get to experience the story instead of just standing on the outside looking in. I love the flow of the story because it’s so natural that it sucks you in and never lets go. The main character is a strong, determined woman that is sure to be an inspiration to everyone that picks this book up. If you enjoy the Sherlock Holmes adventures, you will absolutely adore this book (and series). I highly recommend this book if you enjoy suspense stories with an incredible cast trying to solve an unbelievable paranormal mystery!

I’ve read the first book in this series and enjoyed it! I was very much looking forward to the continuing story. Just as in the previous, there is a strong female detective lead in this story as well. Elinor is in the midst of the holiday season and is looking forward to enjoying its festivities. Then the mystery of poisoning the King happens and it is up to Elinor to find out who could have committed such a heinous act. The story keeps you so captivated by its illustrious steampunk atmosphere, delving into detective work in sorting out through possible suspects and some twists and turns. It is such an enjoyable quick read and I look forward to reading more by Nash!

Delicious Death is the second book of six in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series by Byrd Nash. This has been said before, but Elinor is very much like a female Sherlock Holmes. I find myself enjoying Elinor and even the Duke a little more this time around. They are both really growing on me. I love how her character is so well written. I truly feel like I would get along with her in real life! I enjoyed seeing Elinor’s character showing a softer side where she just wants to relax and be a lady. I felt this was a very quick and easy read and you don’t have to read the books in order to keep up. But I am definitely excited to continue this journey into book three. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical romance mystery with some ghosts thrown in!

The second book in the series by this author and the story does not disappoint.
We continue to follow Elinor as she is woven into another mystery again with the Duke de Archambeau. The characters continue to grow, and their interactions are one of the reasons that this series is one that you cannot put down.
Elinor is on holiday and is invited to the King’s winter feast; an assassin attempts to poison the King.
Although there is no murder to solve but a Lady’s reputation to protect and there is certainly otherworldly input from ghosts linked to the story have a lot to say to Elinor as her medium training kicks in to help.
I adore Elinor! We are now in book 2 of the Madame Chalamet Mysteries series, Delicious Death. When Elinor attends the King’s Winter Feast, someone makes an attempt on the King’s life. Elinor, Dr. Charlotte, and Tristan try to find the culprit. This book has the same wit and fun as the first book. We get to see more of the friendship between Dr. Charlotte and Elinor. We also see more of the slow-burn romance between Tristan and Elinor and the issues that their class difference may cause. This is a well-written continuation of the series and can be read as a stand-alone story.

Reading this book series is like watching Perry Mason and I love it. The developing relationship between Madame Chalamet and Duke de Archambeau is amazing. A lot of books of this genre tend to have the main characters falling into bed immediately and I like this teaser slow burn going on. It was obvious in the beginning that there was attraction so it is nice to see it starting to go somewhere. As for the plot line of the rest of the story I was pleasantly surprised to find out who “did it”. I can’t wait to read the next one.

What does every busy career woman want…. just a brief moment to themself, and unfortunately Elinor can’t seem to catch a break! This is the question Elinor seems to be asking herself as she and her friend Charlotte head to the countryside for a few days of r&r. It seems to be that Elinor finds herself in a predicament and that is when a funny…. not so funny thing happens on the way to this place of rest and relaxation. Elinor finds herself in a situation doing what she does best, getting into other people’s business to try to solve the mysterious death that has fallen in the path of her restful days.
Elinor finds an irritating individual in her way and the Duke is making sure that he tries to solve the mystery before Elinor has a chance to!
Byrd Nash is a new author for me, and she didn’t disappoint one bit! I found myself lost in the world of Madame Chalamet’s mystery. Apparently, this is volume 2 in the series, and I wasn’t lost one bit with the detailed descriptions that Byrd put into her writing. I definitely plan on going back and reading the first volume in the series and I really look forward seeing what else Byrd brings in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries!
There is so much more to this book, and I don’t want to post any spoilers, so why don’t you pick up a copy and find out for yourself what happens!

Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #2)Delicious Death by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this charming and entertaining mystery novel by Byrd Nash. The story is a delightful blend of humor, intrigue, and ghostly encounters, set in a beautifully described 18th-century French setting. The author’s description of the French setting, including the lavish feasts and opulent surroundings, is mouthwatering and immersive.

Elinor, the protagonist, is a refreshingly different detective. Her skills as a medium and her ability to communicate with the dead make her a compelling and intriguing character. The witty banter and dialogue between Elinor and Tristan is clever and engaging, with a delightful playfulness that adds to the story’s charm.

One thing I didn’t enjoy as much was some sections of the book feel a bit rushed, while others drag on for too long. A more consistent pace would improve the overall flow.

Delicious Death is the second book in the series Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries and ANOTHER AMAZING read that I COULD not put down!!! Elinor and her friend are invited by the King to the country side for the Winter Revels. Elinor is so excited because one of her favorite chefs will be there. Right away there is so much to deal with on her trip from helping a lady get away from a not to nice man, helping a widow with her husband’s ghost, and someone tries to kill the King. So Elinor and the Duke must investigate.
I again enjoyed this read so much. I want the story to go on and on and on. I love that author pulls you right into the world she has created with these amazing characters that jump right off the page. I love that I can close my eyes and be in the world with them. BRAVO and can not wait to read the third!!!

Another wonderful story in this series. I was thoroughly enthralled with the trip this one took me on. Trying to keep my wits about me so I could figure it all out. The characters are plentiful. We get a large number we already know with some new additions. Some of them surprised me others I had figured out. We do get to see Madame Chalamet stretch her powers of deduction along with her ghost talking ones. I enjoyed getting more insight into a few of the personalities.

Overall this is another good story in this series. While I was not a hundred percent agreeable with the ending it still is satisfactory. Although a few things happen at the end that I can not wait to see more of in the next book.

After reading Ghost Talker, I could not wait to read Delicious Death. Byrd Nash did not disappoint with book 2. Delicious Death had all of the mystery and angst from book one, and even more romantic tension. Once again, we get to see Madame Chalamet help the Duke solve a mystery, while also helping spirits move to the other side. In this book, Chalamet must help the Duke solve the attempted murder of the king through poisoning. The characters are well developed, the story is fast paced and easy to read, and Madame Chalamet and the Duke work so well together. Once again, I am super excited to begin reading book 3, Spirit Guide, and I cannot wait to see where Chalamet and the Duke’s relationship goes.

Thwarting an assassination wasn’t on the menu.
Elinor’s holiday is nearly ruined when a poisoner targets the king and what’s even more irritating? Tristan Fontaine, the Duke de Archambeau, thinks to solve the case before she can!
Between saving a society lady’s reputation, comforting a girl with a ghostly brother, and conducting a séance for a widow, Elinor has her hands full. All she wants is to enjoy dinners prepared by the best chefs in the land, but Tristan’s mother and sister can’t stop giving bossy advice. It’s enough to spoil the dessert course.
Despite it all, she might still find time to enjoy herself especially if it means snooping through other people’s wardrobe closets.
The second of a six-part Gaslamp fantasy ghost mystery series featuring a strong-minded female Sherlock Holmes-like character in a slow burn romance

Spinning tales of subtle magic with unexpected twists, she packages satisfying stories that reads like no others. Byrd writes the book you need, not the one you expected.

Described by one reviewer as a “literary glass of bourbon after a long day,” and another: “When I get a Byrd story, I know I’m in good hands.”

Whether it is a Doppelgänger who was once a medieval knight now working in college administration, or an updated Red Riding Hood escaping a post-WWI wolf pack, her characters all feel real.

That Celtic goddess at the pet store? She’s someone you know. A medieval queen fleeing an abusive marriage? You experience her pain and triumph.

With a B.A. in journalism, she worked as a newspaper reporter, covering news, schools, and lifestyle for both weeklies and dailies. She was the first journalist to serve as director of The Forest Heritage Center in Beavers Bend State Park, Oklahoma.

Her hobbies include reading, nature hikes, and traveling when she has the money. She seldom has the money. Married to a man who reads all her books but with two adult children who never read them. Byrd has cats, which makes her a legit author.

Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 2) by Byrd Nash – Review by Jamie Burns

Delicious Death is the second book in a six part novella series called Madame Chalamet by Byrd Nash. This book took me back to my roots of loving mysteries! Nash has created a wonderful series so far with captivating characters that readers love. Elinor is by far my newest favorite sleuth-ghost whisperer- who is balancing the food competition and trying to help a lady in distress. One cannot forget that there’s an assassin who is out to cause harm. Nash has a wonderful knack for keeping the reader at the edge of their seat in anticipation about what will happen next. I am looking forward to reading the third book in this series.

Sadly, I had to read the 2nd part of Byrd Nash’s novel. I have to say this is different from my other likes of mystery and murder crimes. Elinor is a medium who finally took a break from solving crime and ended up with another solving crime in which a King is a target. Funny is that the chef is the one that is the problem and using food to kill the King.
I recommended this to my teen kids who love to a good mystery book.

I have loved Byrd Nash. I make sure I follow her books. This story has a strong female central lead, it is always enjoyable when an author projects a strong female lead in 1800s with eccentric qualities. Elinor has a penchant towards ghost talking. She befriends another eccentric woman , who is a doctor. In the winter feast. There is an attempt to murder the king. There is a duke who is equally interested in solving this mystery. The forbidden romance brews between Elinor and the Duke. Social restrictions follow.
What not to like about it, nothing . Overall a very enjoyable read.

Elinor is trying to have herself a good holiday when she finds that someone has targeted the king. Duke de Archambeau is also on the case and feels he can solve this mystery before Elinor. She’s being kept busy with other paranormal happenings as well but she is determined to find who is behind the plot against the king. The pace of this book was a little quick, however it never makes you feel like you’re missing out on any part of the story. The author does a great job building onto the story and the characters from the first installment. If you like paranormal crime and mystery this would be a great book to read.

Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #2)Delicious Death by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This paranormal mystery starts off with Madame Elinor Chalamet, our fmc from book one, wanting a little excitement as she’s been bored since her last case. Just as luck would have it, she receives an invitation from King Guenard for the Winter Revels. What starts off as a fun escape from the lackluster daily hum drum turns into yet another mystery to be solved as she finds out the King is being targeted. Tristan Fontaine, Duke de Archambeau, is determined to solve the case before Elinor. It’s through this competition of sorts we get to continue to see their sarcastic, snarky, and often humorous banter. We also get to see as feelings blossom between the two.

Byrd Nash has done it yet again. Her descriptive writing, amazing mystery plot twists, and humorous banter between characters has me wanting more. I love a strong, smart, snarky female main character and this series has just that in Elinor. Elinor often reminds me of a historical type, Charlie from Daryanda Jones’ First Grave series, as she solves cases, talks to ghosts, and is fine being alone despite starting to crush on a man. This is a fantastic series that has just gotten better in this second book. I honestly can’t wait to read more!

I read the first book and loved it so immediately had to next this one next and it did not disappoint. I love it just as much as the first book, if not more!
The story continues nicely from where the last left off and the relationships between the different characters only became more engaging. It was great to witness the ongoing interactions between Elinor and the Duke, how the growing attraction/relationship continues to grow from the first novella.
The author once again impressed me with their writing style, I was easily able to envision the world they had created and felt like I really had fallen into the world walking alongside Elinor as she navigated the new scenery.
While I was able to learn some more about my favourite characters there is still so much, I don’t know, but wish to, and so I eagerly await the next books in the series! Just as with the first novella, I could not put this one down and I can see how this will be the case for the entire series.
I whole-heartedly recommend this series to those who enjoy historical investigative stories, ghosts and romance!

Mystery, crime fighting, and a medium with enough spunk to do it all – this book encompasses just about everything. Acting as the second installment, the reader follows along as a satisfying new change of pace and location are reached as well as a slow-embered burn of a romance takes flame.

Ghosts and mourning, grief and acceptance, overall this book was a good pace and a fun read.

I loved that this time Elinor is supposed to be on vacation to attend the Winter Revel with her friend Charlotte but she seems to be unable to stay out of trouble. When the king falls ill from mysterious circumstances, Elinor takes it upon herself to figure out who is the true culprit. Not to mention she helps the living with spirits of the dead holding on or vice versa. The second book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries set, fully composed of six books. Elinor Chalamet, crime fighting medium, returns for another round of ghost banter and mischief. I would recommend reading book 1 (Ghost Talker) before this one, as it builds on previous character development and helps to establish the momentum into Delicious Death. I really enjoyed that the story continues, but is not dragged out extensively. We find ourselves in a new location with a whole different array of ghosts and characters, and of course dilemmas to deal with! I did find this book to be a change of pace from book one, and a LITTLE slower, but still a fast and easy read that I highly enjoyed. Byrd Nash knows how to engage the reader and keep the pages turning, and I am looking forward to the next one.

This is book two in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries by Byrd Nash. The author most definitely did not disappoint. I absolutely loved every aspect of this book, the characters are so easily to fall in love with, and the main plot is excellently woven, with a great complimented sub-plot. Madame Chalamet has been invited to The Winter Revels, a royal arts and skills competition the King throws every year, this year the main competition is cooking. In attendance is most of the nobility and a few commoners, including Mysir de Archambeau. Competing in the competition is her favorite Chef from the Crown Hotel. Madame Chalamet and Dr. LaRue have already found trouble before they even step off the train and they must absolutely help Lady Tulip Langenberg. An attempt on the King’s life makes for an interesting mystery; who in a house full of people want the King dead? Both Mysir de Archambeau and Madame Chalamet must get to the bottom of the assassination attempt, while Madame Chalamet is balancing trying to help Lady Tulip, and also has been called upon to help an older Widow let go of her husband who has been dead for five years. Will they be able to help everyone who needs their attention? What if they cannot uncover who tried to kill the King? Will the person try again? On top of these mysteries, the relationship between Madame Chalamet and the Duke is strengthening and seems to be more than platonic, at least I hope it will be! Cannot wait till I can read book three!
