Orenda (The Latitude Series) by T.S. Simons – Review by Jennifer Ramos

Orenda (The Latitude Series Book 2)Orenda by T.S. Simons
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Simons’ first set of series of Antipodes was absolutely amazing and when I heard about this new series that derived from Antipodes, I was very much eager to get the reading going. The 45th Parallel brought in different themes from the Antipodes series, which I fell in love with as well. Once this latest book came out, I wanted to know where the next adventure would take in this new series! If you are a fan of romance, dystopian, adventures, challenges, paranormal, etc., you will definitely enjoy this story as well.
This story focuses on Caitlin and her husband, Gio, as they become ambassadors for the ACC and end up in Canada on their assignment. Although Caitlin demonstrates natural leadership qualities, they struggle to find their place in this new location. The struggles of all these new roles of wife and leader test the limits of the newly married couple along with adding the element of unexpected old enemies reemerging. Such a good story and so many details. Make sure to read previous books as it will give you a deeper appreciation for what to expect in this story.

Orenda (The Latitude Series Book 2)Orenda by T.S. Simons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Latitude series. I do definately recommend reading these books in order and if you can start from the Antipodes series as the books all follow on.
This author’s work is always enjoyable to read. The author’s attention to detail means that the reader is captivated by the story and the characters.
We are back in this story following Caitlin and Gio as they learn to find their way in life. Following their hearts they get married but that is the first step in them navigating their journey into adulthood. I did feel sorry for Caitlin in parts. As much as she loves Gio I felt like she has so much pressure placed on her shoulders all at once, from becoming a wife and mother to starting a Ambassadorship. Gio tries to help and support her but wanting to remain a strong independent woman his help isn’t always welcome. This puts strain on their young marriage and with the added dangerous of old enemies reappearing you are left wondering if their relationship could survive. One things for sure Caitlin will fight and stop at nothing to protect what she wants and who she loves.

This is a sci-fi adventure which has twists and turns as well as lies, betrayals and tragedy waiting just around the corner this book will certainly keep you gripped.

The second book in The Latitude series, Orenda follows Caitlin and Gio as they continue to bring together the community and face unexpected obstacles and tough challenges.
I fell in love with this world from the very beginning in The Antipodes series. The author draws you into a world that is reflective of our own and makes the reader vested in each outcome. Immersive, creative and unpredictable this whole series is amazing. Eagerly awaiting the next book. Highly recommend.

Orenda is the second book in The Latitude series by T.S. Simons. This story/series is an extension of the Antipodes series, and is quite an intriguing read.
As with the rest of the series, this is a dystopian, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi story with action, adventure, romance, challenges, danger, drama, tension, suspense, surprising developments, mystery, emotion, family, friendship, community, betrayal, tragedy, revenge, and more.
As expected, Ms. Simons once again put her characters to the test. Caitlin and Geo take us along on their adventures as they work towards community harmony- but things aren’t going to be smooth sailing- especially when they get bind-sided by an old enemy putting them, and everything they’ve worked so hard for, at risk.
Looking forward to seeing what the next book has in store for us!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, T.S. Simons!

Orenda (The Latitude Series Book 2)Orenda by T.S. Simons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Latitude series, which in turn is a follow-on series to the Antipodes series. Following on from the first book, this follows Caitlin and Gio. I would highly recommend reading the book prior to this one at the very least before starting this one.
Once again this was a well written story, flowing nicely an creating an intriguing world to step into. The complex characters are also well-written, they are developed well and draw you into their lives to the point you need to know what will happen to them next. The author has a great ability to suck you in and making you emotionally invested before you even realise it.
I enjoyed the developments in the story, the resurfacing of characters and dangers and seeing how as the characters change and develop, so do the solutions and thought processes. The events were made to feel believable and through provoking at times. It, along with the rest of the series is sure to be one that stays with me and I look forward to where we are taken next.

Orenda is the second book in The Latitude series. It is the sequel to The 45th Parallel which is an extension on the Antipodes series. It is a Sci Fi story with supernatural elements.
The principals and beliefs behind Orenda are thought provoking and something that many have theorised and adhered to past and present, for eons and will live on eons in the future. I was intrigued and interesting to see T.S. associate it to this series.
Tanya clever writing draws you in and makes you invested in what happens with the characters their hopes, their dreams, their struggles. Expect the unexpected when reading her books but that makes it even more intriguing. There is always something new and exciting that comes to light.
It is an even bigger journey that could have long standing effects for everyone. Emotions run high as old enemies resurface and everything is in peril, and Caitlin must fight for what they love most.
I can’t wait to see what comes next.

This book is a fantastic follow up to the first in the series and I found it pulled me in from the moment I started reading. I would certainly recommend reading the first book in the series before this one so you can enjoy it as much as possible. I loved getting back into these characters and their journey. It was lovely to see how it developed even further as this book went on.
This author has an incredible way of creating a story that is lasting and interesting. The books are imaginative and are ones that I always seem to enjoy. This book is just as good as the first and I am looking forward to seeing where else this series might go.

This was my first time reading this author and I was not disappointed. She has an amazing talent. She builds worlds that you want to get lost in, and the attention to detail is top notch. I feel like I may have taken more away from the story had I read the 1st book, as this is the 2nd in the series, but I was able to follow the story pretty well. If you like dystopian romances, I absolutely recommend this author.

Living in the alpine region of Australia, she believes in the values of integrity, sustainability, and community in a world where we place greater value on possessions than people. The follow-up series, The Latitude series, examines life in different societal models and considers what could happen if science is allowed to determine the human condition.

She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, post-graduate qualifications in governance and management, and is an accredited company director.

Sessrúmnir (Antipodes Series Book #5) by T.S. Simons

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Sessrúmnir is the fifth book in the Antipodes Series. Freyja is back and she’s moving on. You’ve got to read it to find out what happens.

Freyja is moving on with her life. She and Cam have grown apart and it’s obvious. She wants to get away and thinks she can keep her children safe. But can she? The quote I chose for Freyja is: “She is so naughty, but I can’t help but laugh at how creative she is! Between her and Caitlin, I am surprised poor Bridget hasn’t had a breakdown by now. Do you remember the time they painted Bridget’s chair with brown paint?”

Caim (Antipodes Series #4) by T.S. Simons

This is another great read by the author. Caim is a great read and now I’m understanding more and more of the story. This is the fourth book in the Antipodes Series.

Cam is back and now he’s got kids to worry about. He and his wife are awake early one morning due to guests. When they discover who it is, things get tricky. Can they figure it out? The quote I chose for Cam is: “It was a massive omission. You stitched us both that day and said nothing. Not to mention all those evenings we spent together. We trusted you. Thought you were our friend.”

Freyja is Cam’s wife and mother of his kids. When they go to meet the guests she finds that their daughters look just like her and her daughters. That can’t be right, can it? The quote I chose for Freyja is: “God had nothing to do with it.”

Not my first read by the author. Won’t be my last either. The Antipodes Series just keeps getting better and better. Ouroboros is the third book in the series and a great read.

Cam is back again and this time it’s for his wife. She was taken and killed. He meets new friends along the way and catches up with old friends. Will he be able to survive? The quote I chose for Cam is: “I’m well, thank you. My profuse thanks to you for the antibiotics and painkillers. They undoubtedly saved my life.”

The Liminal Space (Antipodes Series #2) by T.S. Simons

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. The Liminal Space is the second book in the Antipodes Series. The author knows how to create a world where the readers can get lost in. This book is amazing and I really think you’ll enjoy it.

Cam is back with the people he’s missed dearly. He and his girl are expecting their first child together. He’s not sure how to handle that and wishes his parents were there. The quote I chose for Cam is: “I thought it was odd too. But if it houses an antipodal point, and it evidently does, then it makes sense, doesn’t it?”

Lae is with Cam and is pregnant. She’s heard of the tales and is happy he’s home. Now she’s got to make him realize that he’s where he belongs. The quote I chose for Lae is: “Yes, if nothing else, the quality of our food has taken a marked downward slide since you left. Don’t tell Fraser I said so. Also, I overheard some men planning a trip into Stornoway to track down mountain bikes like yours. There must be a shop there. They can’t believe that they didn’t think of that before, especially now that the community is more widely spread.”

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Antidotes is a fantastic read. This was a hard one to put down and I absolutely loved it. This is the first book in the Antipodes Series.

Cam doesn’t think things are gonna get bad. Then a virus hits the water and they can’t contain it. He then finds that he’s going to be in a group of handpicked people. They might be able to find the cure and how to contain it. The quote I chose for Cam is: “I guessed that, but what do they think we can do to help? We are half a world away. Are they looking for more lab technicians? It isn’t my field. Yours either, come to think of it. Electrical engineers rarely solve biological problems. Besides, why take my blood for that?”

This Night Has Ended: A Dark Supernatural Fantasy (Vampire State #5) by Alexander Charalambides

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. This is also the first book I’ve read in the Vampire State Series. This Night Has Ended is the fifth book in the Vampire State Series. This book will have you hanging on to every word.

Rowena is a human who is turning into a vampire thanks to her boyfriend. Rowena stands up for humans and others don’t like that. Now they’re in danger and she wants to protect them. The quote I chose for Rowena is: “Shut up, let’s go up to my office, people are less likely to see us and we can watch the street for Quintus.”

Vincenzo is a vampire and is sticking by Rowena’s side. He is helping her with what she wants to do. The studio is somewhere they can stay safe while they figure out their next move. The quote I chose for Vincenzo is: “We’re mapping the city, assigning scarcity and danger levels based on first hand reports, telling people where to stay away from or go to, that kind of thing, take this, find them on the map, red pin for dangerous, green pin for safe, black pin for places we still aren’t sure about.”

Born to Fight (Can’t Resist You #1) by Brittany Anne

This is the first book I’ve read by Anne. As my first dystopian book I’ve got to say that I’ll be back. Anne has a way of sucking in you into the world she creates.

Rain has been hiding for years. She doesn’t know why she’s helping the man, but she was being nice. Now his wounds are healed. She’s falling for him. The quote I chose for Rain is: “I’ve been cleaning your wounds twice daily for a week now. I’ve been giving you antibiotics, both in the crushed pills and in an ointment I’ve been putting on your wounds. You seem to like the broth more than water, so I’m glad I started giving you that a few days ago. I’m glad you like it.”

Hunter is working far from home. He hears someone calling for help, but when he goes to help she starts screaming worse. He then gets hurt and wakes up in a small house. The quote I chose for Hunter is: “I’m sorry, Sawyer, but I’m not taking those two. This mission is easy, yes, but it’s far. I’m not spending weeks with those two idiots just because you say so.”

Highly recommended for Dystopian Romance lovers.

Born to Fight (Can’t Resist You Book 1) by Brittany Anne was amazing! This was a short and quick read for me. I’m new to the dystopian genre and have read very few of them. I was immediately sucked in. It was action-packed and suspenseful which kept me intrigued and wondering what would happen as I quickly turned the pages. The characters were all wonderful and relatable and Born to Fight had excellent world-building. I haven’t read Brittany Anne before, but she has a new fan. I can’t wait to read more from her!

An unforgettable Dystopian romance. This book had me hooked. Between the world building and the budding romance I could not put this book down. I loved the characters and their will to fight back against those who would take everyone’s free will or kill them.

Rain has been living in hiding and isolation for 2 years until one day she stumbles upon a dying man. She could leave him where she found him. It would be safer for her, but her good heart will not allow that.

The man she saved is none other than Hunter Kane. The leader of the Resistance. A group of people who have dedicated their lives to taking down the tryanny that caused America to fall. They rule and control everything. They are the UNR.

Since meeting Hunter, Rain for the first time has hope that her life can be more than one of solitary confinement. Meanwhile, Hunter begins to wonder if he can have the chance to be more than just a Resistance soldier. The two have an undeniable instant connection, but between secrets and the UNR they may not stand a chance.

Flicker to Fire (Crimson Sash #3) by Amanda Marin

The third and final book in the Crimson Sash Series by Amanda Marin. Out of the three books this is by far my favorite. We get to see an ending to Neve and Micah’s story. I honestly didn’t want it to end.

Neve has come to terms that she may never be free from the Nation. Things get worse before they get better. When others from the Nation show up they aren’t exactly kind. The quote I choose for Neve is: “Blythe’s out of surgery. She made it. She’s still unconscious, but she’s all right for now.”

Micah is finally with his parents, but things aren’t as good as they should be. They’re far from a family, but that changes soon. Micah learns the truth about his father. He helps with a plan he shouldn’t be involved in. The quote I choose for Micah is: “Not Joah … he should’ve left Joah alone …”

This is by far the best book in the series. Amanda has an amazing talent for writing. This will not be the only series I read by her. I do highly recommend this book and tissues. Don’t forget the tissues.

Sea to Sky (Crimson Sash #2) by Amanda Marin

As the second book of the Crimson Sash Series by the lovely Mrs. Marin she’s outdone herself. This follows Neve and Micah on the journey. Being to a new country will do things to you. Follow them on the journey of loss, tragedy, and love.

Neve has come to accept that things are different. What she doesn’t realize is that her and Micah are different as well. She helps Micah come to terms with something that has happened. The quote I choose for Neve is: “All right—I stand corrected. It’s going to be your best yet, I think.”

Micah is hurt and not just physically. Things seem to be getting worse, but Neve is there. Things don’t always last, but they always get better in the end. The quote I choose for Micah is: “You shouldn’t have to take care of me …I wish you could go back to Bristol, with your comfortable life and your family, but you can’t, and it’s my fault. Every day I hate myself for having asked you to lie to Isla that day we met. You gave up everything for me, and I’m not worth it. If I’d known …I’d take it all back to spare you this pain. I wouldn’t make you suffer with me.”

If you’ve read North to Nara then this is the book for you. I do highly recommend this book for anyone.
