This book is incredibly thought provoking. The premise sparks a lot of questions & really makes you wonder. It seems more informative than fictional, like it could almost be a documentary. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the storyline became more than just a storyline & spread into real life. Definitely left me pondering possibilities.

In the first book of this trilogy series, the story features Callum, who works as a scientist for food and drink distribution in the UK and he starts noticing subtle changes in the people as well environment around him. Due to a recent tragic event, he dismisses odd occurrences at the workplace until he notices people turning aggressive in nature as well as disappearances and sudden deaths. After a frightening experience going into town, he starts reaching out to friends and families and starts making connections to these newly odd developments. “Genies” are people with altered behavior and character due to genetically modified (GM) feed given to cows and infecting people who tend to eat meat and non-organic food. The small percentage of individuals who ate vegan have been mostly spared of these conditions. This realistic dystopian makes you really second guess your own life choices and makes you think of if you were ever in this type of scenario, what would you do? Greenall is an environmentalist and also had a long standing career as a government scientist, which gave a rich foundation to the premises laid out in this story. The concerns of going vegan, genetically modified materials, and governmental influences are such hot topics in world news. This story covers much of the “what-if” scenarios. Looking forward to the next book!

This is book two in the Quirk of Destiny series and can stand on its own. The novel continues the apocalyptic story of how genetically modified food is killing off the human race. We start out a couple of years after the outbreak. I enjoyed the struggle of good and evil (genies-vs-GM free humans). It’s survival for the human race against the villain Balthazar, who has paranormal powers, and the secret group trying to manipulate the world. I enjoyed how much science is instead into the plot, and had no idea there was that much science on GMO’s. It fits well with what’s going on in the world today. Definitely a page turner. I look forward to book three!

This book gives a look at what the world could look like. It follows a group of people after a sickness has swept through the world and changed people to a zombie like state. The more you read the more sinister it gets. Be prepared for twists and turns and excitement. The main characters are relatable and very lovable.

Firstly, let me say that the first book, A Quirk of Destiny, blew me out of the water. I loved everything about it and had been looking forward to the second for some time. I was worried that with such a strong start that the series just couldn’t get any better. All of my qualms were obliterated the moment I started reading Return to Gallanvaig! This book is just as good if not even BETTER than the first. It continues to be so representational of where we are as a society and still blending in that post-apocalyptic terror that feels like it could be in our not-so-distant future. I cannot emphasize how amazing this series is so far, and I am clamoring for the third book already! Pick up the first two books and get lost in this dystopian masterpiece!

~ A Return to an Epic tale of a World Changed by Genies~
This is the second book in an incredibly gripping trilogy. An apocalyptic series centered around genetically altered food creating mutated humans. There is a return of the evil powers led by a Genie named Balthazar, super evil guy. This is an epic story of world domination and the fight to resist the ultimate downfall of humanity as we know it. The free survivors, the force of good that is left, is all that stands between this evil and ultimate destruction of the human race.
This is a horror novel, meant to set you on edge. But what makes this series stand out is that you are also meant to be educated…whether you realize it or not. And let me tell you, it is a FASCINATING ride. Your accidental education will move you outside of your comfort zone, and into a world you least expected but absolutely needed to be in. This author obviously did their homework, which makes this an easy favorite. From world building, scene setting, and character development you are in for a ride. Calum is a character you can fall right in line with as the plot continues to unfold. In this second book in the series, Calum has definitely matured. He is now super smart, diplomatic, and a little more down to earth than he was before.
If you have ever wanted to read the post-apocalyptic genre, focused more on the sciences and challenges your way of thinking, you won’t be disappointed. This is the second book and I can definitely say you will be wanting to pick up the first if you haven’t read it already. Happy Reading!

This second book is just as fast paced as the first! We are still with Calum, Jessie and the others and they have started to build up civilization again. As always there are precautions that still have to be taken. And as with any apocalyptic story people aren’t always what they seem. Some people may not want things to change and become better than what was. I definitely enjoyed all of the unexpected plot twist. The science behind this overall series will make you think twice. I will definitely recommend having the third book ready to start because it ends on a cliff hanger!

I was beyond excited to continue this story with Catherine Greenall! I loved the world she built in Quirk of Destiny, and this was a great continuation of that. I had been left with such a desire to keep the story going with the amazing characters from the first book, and this did not disappoint! While this was a very intense (and long) book, I devoured all of it! I am a huge fan of thriller and dystopian books, so this was right up my alley. Great second story! If you haven’t read the first, please go do so in order to enjoy both of these books.

This is the second book in The Quirk of Destiny series and while this book takes place a few years after the first book ends, the books need to be read in order. It isn’t a fast read by any means, but it is a page-turner. The author did a great job with this book it is full of action and is on the sci-fi side of dystopian. This book presents a very different take on dystopian books than the ones I have read in the past. I struggled to get through the first few chapters because it was scientific and slow to start. However, the book picks up fairly quickly and is action-packed, full of twists and turns. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

We find our group of survivors living in Gallanvaig and doing well for themselves and their community. Living a good life without GM foods and the trappings of the past in order to have simple but comfortable life full of community and love for those around them. Keeping each other safe and continuing in their quest to improve on organic lifestyles, trouble begins to brew for Calum and The World Alliance party. The Genies are back and have increased paranormal powers and another political party has thrown its hat into the ring. This new part, World Democratic Party, is all about the past and the way of life living to excess, money, wealth, transportation, food. The colony at Gallanvaig is in trouble as well as those around the world when women are kidnapped by the Genies, pregnant women! Can Calum save his family and those other women taken? Will the World Alliance party win and why in the world were nuclear missiles used to decimate America? No spoilers!! You must read it for yourself, Another great book by Greenall and one for those who are enlightened or want to be. Reading about scary epigenetics and how they can be damaging to bodies and crops. If you aren’t a vegetarian now only eating organic non-gmo foods, you will think twice about your next bite of food and where it comes from. Bravo!!

Return to Gallanvaig is Book Two in the Quirk of Destiny Series. It has now been two years since the destruction from the outbreak caused from genetically modified food. The Genies are intent on increasing their race while another group of enemies also presents itself. The new group is determined to cause death and destruction while trying to take over the world. The GM-free survivors are the only hope for humanity, but will they have what it takes to save the world?
This was an interesting take on the destruction caused by the widespread consumption of genetically modified foods. The author has done a spectacular job of creating a vivid picture of a world in which the evils of genetically modified foods are taking over. It contained, action, suspense, intrigue and good versus evil while also portraying a message about the importance of caring for our environment. A great read!

These humans are called Genies and are lead by Balthazar and he’s evil. He and the Genies are trying to take over and have all the power but they are in for a fight. This is a fast paced dystopian, fantasy read that will keep you flipping pages late in the night. Great good vs evil story!

I honestly feel like this book is about world domination and how it goes from a democratic society to an a World Alliance. Now there are some people who want to go back to the democratic society but many people don’t believe that they can survive like that. This story makes me believe that World War 3 could actually happen with the US. It also makes me think of all the things that have happened in today’s world. I feel like we just keep getting knocked down with illnesses, tsunamis, earthquakes, tornados. Disasters that could have been avoided if we just took the necessary precautions. Definitely not a quick read at all, its 600 pages.

Post-apocalyptic survival This is the second book in the Quirk of Destiny series and it is amazing. It is set two years after book one and so much more has happened. I highly recommend reading book one first as it helps to understand the dystopian world and key players so much more. The story is just as in depth as the first and though this is a long book the writing style kept me engaged. The action, paranormal twists and links to real life made for an intriguing and thought-provoking read. There is a cliffy so I eagerly await book three.

Return to Gallanvaig: Beyond A Quirk of Destiny is the second part of the Quirk of Destiny series by Catherine Greenall. This book picks up a few years after the 1 part so I would highly recommend reading this series in order. This dystopian/sci-fi story is quite a bit different than my normal reads but the thriller/suspense parts kept me me intrigued and I kept turning page after page. The story was well done and the main characters were great! I am looking forward to reading the next part in this series and I will want to read other books by this author in the future! I would recommend this series to any dystopian/sci-fi/thriller lovers! Happy reading!

Book two of the “Quirk of Destiny” trilogy was mind blowing. Based on a post apocalyptic world, genetically modified food has greatly reduced the world’s population and caused the humans to agree to no longer eat animal based foods. On the other hand, the newly gene-mutated diseased humans, also known as “Genies”, are attempting to make a grab for power.
The author did an impressive job with this work of fiction that has a creepy twist of possible truths hidden within it. It also is a great adventure with a good vs evil storyline. It is a refreshing take on a fictional tale with wonderfully compelling characters and riveting story building. What a great addition to this series and I think readers will thoroughly enjoy it.

This book is a brilliant continuation from the first book in the series. It really hits the ground running, picking up two years after the events I’m book one. I work highly recommend reading these in order so you can get the full amount of detail. As with the first, this book is well written and indepth. So much happens across the span of the book and it was just as easy to become invested in these characters as it was before. I really enjoyed seeing the direction the author took the book in and I can’t wait to see where it concludes.

I absolutely loved this book! This is the second book in the series. I will be going back and reading the first book. The characters are very well written. You find your heart beating super fast with anticipation of what’s to happen next when they are in a bind. This book also ends on a cliffhanger, I can’t see what happens next.

Welllll i definitely will be going back to read book one because i feel like it would make me understand some things deeper that occurred in this book especially character progressions. Book ended in a doozy if a cliffhanger that made me really want to read book one in the trilogy as well as the one that follows! Return to Gallanvaig: Beyond a Quirk of Destiny is the second book in the A Quirk of Destiny series. First, this book picks up two years after the first book. Third, this is a 500+ page book but be prepared to be taken into a detailed adventure. I enjoyed learning more about the genies and their leader Balthazar. A Quirk of Destiny is the first book in the A Quirk of Destiny series. This is my first book by this author, and I was not disappointed. She writes a realistic dystopian tale of what could quickly happen to our food supply using complex scientific explanations. The story is full of intrigue, twists, genies, and the effects of political and medical misinformation that plague our country. I was drawn in quickly and didn’t want to put it down. Also, it has left me rethinking what I eat daily. The characters were gripping, and the plot felt insane but realistic at times. I am curious about where the story will go and look forward to reading the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in a realistic dystopian look at our future.

Admittedly I read this book, which is book 2 of this series, before reading the first book. While this book can be a stand alone novel, I have a feeling reading this series in order will be very beneficial. The story lines seem to thicken in book 2 as opposed to book 1 and you don’t have much detail or background as you would like. Again, this was not the fault of the writing style as I chose to read this out of order! This book was phenomenal, enthralling, emotional, and leaves you waiting on the edge of your set for the next installment! The realism and post-apocalyptic style will have you comparing to the real world and keep you glued to the pages.

Amazing! I loved delving deeper into this post-apocalyptic world. I can’t get enough of the Quirk Of Destiny trilogy! This second installment, Return to Gallanvaig, is frightening and emotional with another cliffhanger ending that will have you grasping for the final book in this thrilling series. I know I will be grabbing my copy of Destiny Of Light ASAP! This story really packs a punch, where good vs evil and science fiction meets real science to create a truly unique tale. Return to Gallanvaig really ups the ante with action, danger, and plenty of Genies under the control of Balthazar. I would highly suggest starting with book 1 A quirk of Destiny before reading this book, to get more understanding of Greenall’s world, you will not be disappointed! Wow, absolutely phenomenal read! A Quirk Of Destiny by Catherine Greenall grabs you from the very first page and will not let go! A Great introduction to a series that delivers so much more than it promises and zombies, or Genies are only the tip of the iceberg. With cover ups, twists and turns, corruption and conspiracies, and an ending that will leave you hanging needing to know more. Greenall creates an engaging and strongly written world that bleeds through the pages and sends a message that I won’t soon forget. What really is in our food. With that terrifying thought and how creepy the genies were this book gave me the chills. It really makes you think more about what we all put in our bodies and the consequences it could someday have. This is not your average apocalyptic sci fi thriller, within its pages are so many good ideas that we as a society should think about for our future. I cannot wait to start reading Return To Gallanvaig, her second book in this eye opening series. This book is definitely a must read with some scary realistic thoughts of where we could be headed.

Return to Gallanvaig: Beyond A Quirk of Destiny is the second intriguing book in the Apocalyptic (A Quirk of Destiny) Trilogy by Catherine Greenall. This is a gripping dystopian post-apocalyptic thriller with real scientific details as well as sci-fi elements, action, danger, agendas, the paranormal, good vs evil, sinister foes, and plenty of dramatic developments. As I said with the first instalment, the story certainly packs a punch as Ms. Greenall cleverly weaves a dynamic, detailed, and incredibly descriptive story and paints a truly believable and dramatic picture. I can see this trilogy making a great dystopian movie or TV series. This book picks up the story we began in Book one, so if you haven’t read the first book yet I highly recommend that you do, as there is a lot of important plot contained in Book #1 that you should know in order to fully understand and appreciate this second instalment- it is a continuing storyline. If you love intense, post-apocalyptic stories with a highly original plot, environmental messages, believability, danger, and plenty of action- then this is definitely the book/series for you. This story ends on another cliffhanger, so I can’t wait to get my hands on Book #3 to find out how everything plays out! Happy Reading!

Book 2 starts off 2 years after the initial outbreak after genetically modified food caused mutations in the human DNA. Genies are becoming organized under Balthazar and and desperately want to grow their numbers and control, consequences be damned.
Good vs Evil, intense page turning action drama, death, illness, sinister intentions and exquisite well researched science fiction will grip you and make you question everything you know….and make you want to start a garden 😂
This series is incredible post apocalyptic fiction (but so realistic) and I cannot wait to see how that ending turns out in Book 3. I was definitely immediately going “I have to know what happens! ” Don’t miss this series!!!

Return to Gallanvaig takes up two years after the first book in this trilogy A Quirk of Destiny and things have only gotten worse. It is a story set in a dystopian world which has gone mad and no longer resembles the world as we know it. It is a world in ruin. The sad thing is that it could well be a reality to come to fruition.
This dark and twisted tale has good pitted against evil. Is one necessarily better than the other? There are global conspiracies, mortal danger, deadly creatures, inevitable sickness and death, zombies and mutants with supernatural powers.
A post-apocalyptic tale like you have not seen before where science fiction meets real science.
How can those behind this terrible conspiracy and bringing destruction to the world be stopped?
Just as the first book did the ending is a bit of a cliff-hanger.
If you like post-apocalyptic sci fi thrillers, why not grab this trilogy and get stuck in.
I wonder how Catherine will bring the story to a close in the next book.
