This book really took off very quickly. It was just as good, maybe even better than the first book in the series! I was amazed with the story, characters, and the writing all the way through!
The story was realistic beyond means. I reflected so much as I read. It was a powerful read none the less to say the least! I enjoyed the book that took place after a time line of the first. I did not expect the epicness to be as extreme as it was! Death is all around the world, can the world be saved? The book was paranormal , yes, but how vivid it was made me fear what our world could become! Freaking amazing read!
If you have not read the first book, please do it right this minute. Do not walk-RUN!!! The author is amazing, and this story is not to be missed, the first book helps all make sense. Highly recommend this must read!

Oh my stars, the intensity and drama of this story! I absolutely loved it. This book is just as much, if not more, as good as the first book (Quirk of Destiny). The writing is superb. The suspense builds like a thriller movie. You can almost here music building as you are reading. That plot feels so realistic; it almost scares me because it could happen. The elite are out to take control of our world. Honestly, this plot leaves you thinking, a lot about some major issues in our world. The author includes a lot of current topics going on in our current events. The characters are superb. Good guys, bad guys, they all have such detail to them. The interlopers should have been taken out as soon they started causing problems. And that cliffhanger!!!!…..I will be moving on to book 3. I don’t recommend starting anywhere other than book 1 with this trilogy. You must read it if you love suspense/thrills. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Wonderfully done.

She may not have taken up the case but when she heard that the Duke de Archambeau was interested in the case she took it. It seems the Duke is more of a hindrance than a help though on this case. I do think in order to be fully emerged into this world, you will need to have read books 1-4 to completely understand what’s going on. However, I did enjoy reading this book! Sessrúmnir is the fifth book in the Antipodes Series and is a Dystopian/Post Apocalyptic/Sci-Fi/ Romance that is packed with adventure,action, drama, love loss and so much more. I just want to say I love the cover and I’m a fan of this author and Series. I’m a bit sad to see it end but I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing what this author has in store for us next. I highly recommend reading this series in order as each book is just as good as the last and you get a better idea of what has been going on and you get to know the incredible characters. This series is definitely going on my list of re-reads. Get ready to be taken on quite the adventure as they come together to protect what really matters there children. I don’t want to give anything away. I highly recommend reading this book to find out how everything is wrapped up. Im so excited to read more from this Author.

This book is the 5th book in a series and brings the series to conclusion. I enjoyed this book as I did the entire series. I highly recommend reading the other books in order first, before reading this one. There are a lot of characters and would be quite confusing if starting with this book. This book follows Freyja and is told from her point of view, rather than from Cam’s. She wrestles with herself a lot and is struggling with PTSD. She wrestles with not feeling like she’s enough and that resonated soundly with me. I really enjoyed the mystery and danger in this one. I could not figure out who was behind it. The book (and series) was well written and highly enjoyable! You won’t regret reading it!

Just brilliant! I have put off reading this book due to it being the (possible) last book of the series. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book and this just made reading this one a little bit harder. The author has brought the whole series brilliantly together and the imagery draws the reader into a dystopian world that has so many parallels to our own. I loved seeing the characters grow and how the tribe came together to face adversity time and time again. This instalment has heightened emotions as it focuses on the children. I can not recommend this series enough. A keeper.

I just love this series and this book……..was soooooo fantastic. This is book 5 in the series and I highly recommend reading this series in order from the beginning to this final book. The author gave me so much in this story…..romance, danger, action and so much emotion….my heart!!
We fast forward a few years in this book just when you believe life is a bit peaceful, the children are being attacked…..Cam and Freyja must protect them and work together by doing so. Can Cam and Freyja find a way in order to save the children and loved ones?
This book is so packed with emotion……the author truly just had me right from the beginning up until the end. This book is truly a bittersweet end that was so well written.

This author did wonders with this story! I have enjoyed each book in this series. Book 5 kicked my motherly instincts into overdrive, and I felt /related to that urgency and drive to protect your children and those you love. This new world was preceded by one where you literally had to pick and choose life or death and as book 5 ends the series you see all the strides made in love, friendship, maturity and so on. Great read.

The series comes to its conclusion in the final book. This Sci-fi series takes you on a journey you may not have expected. Cam and Freya are back in and their children are quickly growing up and albeit they aren’t together, they are still trying to raise them right, despite the arguments and cold feelings between them, but just as Freya feels like she can finally move on, she is told to pack a bag quickly as she has to leave Lewis and her home she is currently sharing with Illyria. She is shocked and wants an explanation as to why, but she is told that she will be told soon, but for now they have to leave immediately, but when she sees that Cam and some of the children, as well as others from the island community are leaving too, she is even more confused and angry that she will be on a ship with Cam.
As soon as they leave Lewis in an emotional flurry, Freya is told that they will be making a stop on Moussa, a small island where the land is healthy so that they can top up on anything they can find which will be of use for a prolonged trip, but when she and Cam are abandoned and left to “Sort.It.Out” on the island by the others, she is more than just angry, she is infuriated and grabs what she needs for solitude, food and warmth, however, it isn’t enough to stave off the cold for long and so after a couple of days she goes on a long walk round the island to warm up. This is where she finds Cam lost in his memories of the last time they were on the island, but she doesn’t get away in time and the fall into another argument, but this time, it ends in more than just harsh words and her stomping off, it ends in understanding and renewal of the passion they both thought had disappeared.
As the days pass and Cam and Freya reunite and sort things out, they see the boat returning, this is where Freya finds out the real reason they had to leave in the middle of the night without saying goodbye, the children they have brought with them are in danger and until they know who is behind the threat, nowhere is safe, so they try and find somewhere they can regroup until the danger passes, but will anywhere be safe and to what lengths will the group go to, to protect their children? This is another epic dystopian which will carry you further on the wave this series has created and relationships and motives are questioned, love, loss and emotions are running both high and low as friends, partners, parents and communities are pushed to breaking point to protect those they love and you will join them all on this rollercoaster of a story until you all know how it ends.

Book 5 of the Antipodes series keeps the action and intrigue going. You will fall into this story and forget you are reading! If you like dystopian thrillers that make you think and fall in love with the characters, this whole series is wonderful. The character development is some of the best I have seen in a series as this author really has an intelligent, thorough storytelling style. I very much appreciate that the characters deal with anxiety because I feel it is something that needs to be talked about and normalized. The author could write 10 more books of this series, and I’d be perfectly fine with that.

This is such an incredible read and an astonishing first book in The Serrulata Saga! I definitely forwent sleep because I could not put it down, and though it is not a quick read, it is worth every waking moment. The flow of this entire story was flawless.
Leora of Mae has lived with her adoptive family since she was a baby, and they aren’t super thrilled to have her. She draws much unwanted attention because unlike her adopted family and the rest of the village, she is a Xanthi. Xanthi innately posses a kind of magical ability. Upon finding out her mom wants to sell her into servantry, she runs away and meets Roland. They develop a close bond and also run into Aurora and Leopold, who have a good deal of drama and untold truths of their own.
Gathering of the Four is my first book from this author and I am clamoring for more. I am taken aback by how much I loved this book. I highly recommend it to anyone!!

This was a great start to the series! Definitely an interesting plot with just as captivating characters. Leora and Aurora grow so much in the story. This story has it all! You’ve got your strong characters with action throughout to keep you turning pages. It definitely ends on a cliffhanger making you want to jump right in to the second book! I also really enjoyed the authors writing style and character building! I can’t wait to read more!

From the outset, our author bespells her reader. Ms. Bennett renders a unique 44th century dystopian reality with details that appeal to a wide variety of audiences – whether your genre preference is sci-fi, dystopia, historical fiction, or anthropologic fiction.
While it takes a bit to get to the root of the historical “issues” in The Realm’s current status, Ms. Bennett’s careful dispersal of Realm history ensures that key events and socio-cultural causes are both present and not overwhelming.
In addition to being a gifted writer, Ms. Bennett is clearly an erudite historical scholar. With a deft pen & keen mind, she weaves poignant observations about 20th and 21st century life in North America into the dystopian reality of The Realm. Discerning readers will find underpinnings comparable to Dickens, Orwell, or Sinclair.
Because the saga is well written, each reader may choose whether to read for entertainment or for insight.

Leora of Mae is a young woman of nineteen and only half a year from her majority when she can decide her own future, leave the home she has grown up in and the family who has raised her since she was orphaned at a young age. The father was kind to her and didn’t treat her with the same contempt which his wife and her son, as well as the rest of the inhabitants of Mae, this is because she is Xanthi and because of this and the fact that she can wield Xancraft, she was ostracised, but when she overhears a conversation that they were going to sell her, she uses that craft and escapes, running as far and as quickly as she can because if she doesn’t the alternative is being sold into Servantry and losing her freedom, followed by her life.
Leora knows that she is breaking the Edicts of the Realm, but has no idea what that means until she is put into danger when she is found, but when she uses her Xancraft, she breaks the cardinal Edict “Every citizen knows their place”, but one good thing comes of it, she meets a fellow traveller, Roland Shallowbrook of Charm City and a member of the Thieves Road. As they travel together, they try and stay under the radar by travelling through the woods and relying on their wits and skills, however, when they run into fellow travellers Lady Aurora Verte, a member of the gentry class and Sir Leopold, a White Rider with a secret, they learn that they are not the only ones hiding in plain sight.
As the Hale-Bopp Comet grace’s the sky above these four travellers have to learn to trust each other and embark on a journey none expected, but will they be able to keep from letting their emotions cloud their judgement, or will prejudice and past experiences tear them apart? Engaging dystopian adventure An unexpected intriguing read. I was hooked from page one and read late into the night. The world building was amazing and the storyline original. The reader is taken on a dystopian adventure alongside Leora, Roland, Aurora and Leopold as they navigate the Realm in order to survive. There was magic, action, a journey, and witty dialogue throughout the pages and I enjoyed every moment. I am eagerly looking forward to Book 2 of this saga.

This book was a fantastic read. It was a fast and smooth read. It followed along the typical civilization ended and a new civilization began trope but brought its own twist. I loved getting to really know the four main characters as their development and growth throughout the book was wonderfully written. Leora proved that when placed in the worst circumstances, it is all about how you overcome to be the best you can be. Roland found himself falling for the most unlikely of people and grew to be a hero instead of the thief. Aurora is proof that looks don’t simply define a person and her wit and intellect are top of the line. Finally Leopold truly funds himself against all odds and everything he has been taught and ultimately finds his inner emotions and cares for those around him. These four unlikely characters come together to help lead the next revolution. There are so many twists and turns in this book that the ending will make you wanting for more. I cannot wait for book two.

This is a very well written sci-fi novel set in post-apocalyptic times, which I just couldn’t put down. The author did an amazing job of creating an original world full of unique and complex characters. Even with the magical elements, the story had such elements of realism to it. I loved getting to see how Leora, Roland, Aurora, and Leopold all came together and seeing their character development. The story weaves through their past histories and their different secrets as they continue through their journey. It’s a fantastic story with plenty of action, magic, love, and drama. The first book does a great job of setting the stage for a great series! Definitely can’t wait to read the next book so I can see what happens next!

Would recommend this book to anyone who likes to be carried away into a fantasy far far away.

I like finding new authors. This is the first book by this author I have read and although not my usual genre I was not let down. It is a book for mature audiences so be warned. I found that the author had created a very unique world and really brought the characters to life. I really felt as though I was right in the midst of the drama.
I did find some of the subject matter a little hard to read but I give credit where credit is due as even with the subject matter it was not off putting. I am more than willing to read more from this author as well as the series. I just also want to just remind every one once again that it is a mature audience book.

I’ve really enjoyed the Antipodes series and the author has maintained the high standards of the entire series in this concluding finale. As with the other books, there’s plenty of sci-fi/dystopian, environmental and mythological themes, which I really enjoyed. But most of all, I was so keen to see where the characters would end up and the ending was satisfying. I’ve really enjoyed going on this journey with these characters and I will miss them. Highly recommend this whole series.

I have enjoyed this series so much. Once again I was hooked from the beginning. I found myself trying to guess what was going to happen next. The characters were amazing like always. The author did an awesome job creating a world of entertainment.

This is such a great series! The author did a fantastic job of making the characters seem so real. There is a little bit of everything in this series, so that alone makes it a must read for anyone. With everything that has happened, they are trying to look to the future and create a new normal. It has been six years since Caim has ended. Children are being attacked and they must now come together to save their family. Now is the time to end this once and for all.

Gathering of the Four (The Serrulata Saga Book 1) by A.E. Bennett. This was a great start to the Serulata Saga Book 1. It about Leora who is being raised on a farm and learning to use her magic. Leora soon learns she is adopted and her family is about to a sell her into servantry so she runs away. Leora also has yellow eyes and abilities that include changing her appearance and healing. As she runs away she runs into some real characters! Aurora who is a refined Lady of the Gentry, and a solider named Leopold. Along the way they become fast friends and end up dealing with all kinds of mystery and suspense in a Post apocalyptic world. Will they all survive or will they be lost on the journey. Read this fast paced, romance, sci fi, dystopian story to find out!

If you’re looking for a great page turning sci-fi book, this is definitely the one! I truly enjoyed that there was romance in this story (it’s not always included in fantasy or science fiction) and I was impressed with the friendships were well developed for a sci-fi book. For the setting to take place about 2500 years in the future, it is a well written, well thought out book. I definitely want to see what happens next. I seriously can’t wait for book 2!

Oh this series has been amazing! We are with Freyja and Cam and all of the others. You learn so much about Freyja and the children in this one. When tragedy strikes and decisions have to be made to protect the children that are unique. There are plot twist that will shock you and make you read late into the night! I will say I grew to really enjoy Freyja as a character and watching all of her growth through the whole series. I love the authors idea for this story and their writing style. You feel like someone is sharing a good story with you that you can’t wait to hear the ending but dread it at the same time! I definitely recommend reading the whole series so you can understand the storyline. Such a great ending to the Antipodes series!

Such an amazing end to this amazing series. Not only did Simons keep you engaged as each book passes through and “on the edge of your seat” of what will happen next but keep you guessing of what you would do in these many scenarios. Absolutely recommended to read all these previous books in the series before truly understanding and enjoying this one. It is well worth the experience learning and growing with all these characters that are constantly challenged with themes of strength, intelligence, endurance and the true meaning of love. As each book progresses, discoveries and unexpected surprises come about and it is up to the inhabitants of the Lewis island to decide what would be the best solution. In such dire circumstances faced with your own family, how would you best protect your children/family? Simons brings these characters into another life endeavor that helps bring a culmination to this series. Highly recommended and such an enjoyable read.
