My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Eve of the Exceptionals by Parker Sinclair is my first book by this author. It is a quick read, but on the other hand if you do not pay attention you may miss a lot of symbolisms in the book.

From the beginning of the story, Gem and Prince Ryzyn were special to one another. They just did not know it at the time. Gem was sent after the Heart of Cyan and she did not realize that is what she was supposed to get from the castle. Gem had her hands on it but to make her escape she left it behind with Prince Ryzyn. She knew that she would be seeing the Prince and the Heart of Cyan again.

This story takes you on a roller coaster ride. There are magical beasts, good magic and evil magic. There is a love story in the background between Gem and Prince Ryzyn. If you miss one line the story will not have the same meaning. Magical forces keep moving towards the Heart of Cyan but only one can master the power, and so they thought.

The phrase “Be Swift Be True” will have a new meaning after you finish this story. I cannot wait to read more by Parker Sinclair.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gem and her Anima, Finn, have just found the treasure she was sent to the castle to retrieve. Before they can make their escape they come face to face with the Prince, Ryzyn.

Prince Ryzyn, upon hearing the King’s Guards coming, tells Gem how to sneak out of the castle before being caught. Gem hands over the treasure and escapes. Prince Ryzyn may be able to conceal the stone from the King’s Guard but he can not hide it from the High Wizard, Aldon. Aldon announces that he will be taking Prince Ryzyn around the land so he can master the use of the Heart. During the years since this fateful night, Gem is now in training hoping to be one of the chosen for the King’s Guard, she has worked hard to be where she is. Gem has been called upon by her friend Alena, who tells her of a darkness that is sweeping across the land and for her to be ready.

Prince Ryzyn returns to the castle to find out that his sister has been kidnapped and can not believe his Gem is standing there and wonders after all these years if she feels the same as him. Prince Ryzyn and Gem and their team fight their way across the land to bring the Princess back and fell the evil trying to invade the land.

If you like a story that is full of magic and magical creatures then this book is for you. It is well written and will capture your attention.
