The Flame and The Blade (Flame and Blade Series) by Meredith Hart – Review by Faith Jackson

The Flame and The Blade (Flame and Blade #1)The Flame and The Blade by Meredith Hart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book starts off by following Vethe Scarvian, direct descendant of the man who almost destroyed humanity. Vethe seeks to separate himself from his family’s dubious legacy. As the black sheep of his family, he’s scraping together enough coins to help his sister with her extraordinary powers ending a life cycle as it did her mother in the past.
Upon finding out about a formal agreement of engagement and marriage hidden in the mysterious Demon Forest, Vethe is only interested in how much money the noblewoman has betrothed to him to escape the contract but first he must locate the contract.
Lyria Guardia let her family down three years ago and she vows to God it will never happen again. Lyria built her life around her man which led to betrayal even leaving her career in the Adventurer’s Guild. As a modern woman, I believe we can all relate to her being humiliated and heartbroken only to return to her family’s Guard Guild for which her family has run for hundreds of years. She’s desperate to prove herself to her family in her next assignment no matter what it is.
This is where Lyria and Vethe’s path cross. This book will keep you hooked with this action-packed fantasy story. Keeps you hooked through every chapter.

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Faith Jackson

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series, #1)In Other Words by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved every bit of reading this book cover to cover. The story is compelling to read and a joy to observe. I’m a sucker for a love story that develops in the way that this one does. In this story, we meet pianist Trish Holt who resides in Maine on Boothbay Harbor. Stunned and blindsided by a cold kind of betrayal, her boyfriend of 3 years left. Ex’s new beau is her manager. Trish reflects that she’s had a bitterness which has stemmed a pattern of bitterness in past relationships.
From being adopted as a child from Korea, she’s becoming responsible for the breakdown of her relationships as she tries to fit into American culture with false stereotypes of the “picture perfect girlfriend.”
Upon moving into a new home for a fresh start, she meets Michael Quentin, local chef and neighbor, who romances and heals her. Michael and Trish fall in love but heal childhood wounds. This is the type of love story you root for from the very beginning. Trish attempts to return Michael’s generosity by helping him heal his family’s dark past. The two fall in love in a traditional and deep-rooted morals to coexist in a new modern love story.

Broken by Love (The Full Circle Series) by MJ Masucci – Review by Faith Jackson

Broken by LoveBroken by Love by M.J. Masucci
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoy a book where you can’t tell which way the storyline could go with the characters and these characters have a way at pulling at the readers. I’m gonna say the characters are relatable in how human they are as we are as a reader. Lexi, the lead female, is where we’ve all been a time or two as a woman. The two lead males could have treated her better. Very good read but I wanted the characters to be better for Lexi to fall for. We can all relate to the story otherwise. This is a great original page-turner that’s really unpredictable and entertaining.

A Sun So Bright (Reigning Hearts Book Three) by KG Fletcher – Review by Faith Jackson

A Sun So Bright (Reigning Hearts, #3)A Sun So Bright by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a harrowing story of classism as we follow the lives of rich girl, Fiona Merrill, and bartender, Chris Ballard, crosses paths only for what strikes the reader as an “opposites attract” love story. Fiona gets in over her head with Chris. Chris jumps at the chance for Fiona’s “indecent proposal” to renovate his farmhouse so he could get out of his mom’s hair. Chris begins pushing Fiona further outside of her bounds. In the end, Chris shows the heiress a world she never knew before meeting him and changes her outlook on life. This book is a rollercoaster to read showing you a different side of life, love, and how getting comfortable with the uncomfortable can change everything.

I recommend this book any day for the action alone. But to the mystery draws you into the backstory. This is most definitely a great read!
