A Study in Spirits (College Fae book #2) by Byrd Nash – Review by Faith Jackson

A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2 by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved reading this one and I don’t care that it’s for young adults because at 32, I love a good read and this was definitely that.
We follow Brigit in college but she has to do something to prove her innocence and she’s totally bad-ass at doing it as she does things her way.
Someone has falsely accused her of doing detest actions that don’t fit her character and she’s out to clear her name to the university.
Even worse, as a fairy, she owes a debt to her doppleganger as she has to unravel what’s leering in the library. Whatever it is, it’s haunting the books she loves which is all the ammunition she needs to put an end to this thing’s reign of terror. Since the administration at the university, Brigit and her friends will do what they must to put an end to it.
Brigit’s friends have unique gifts of their own to unravel the mysteries before them which makes this book juicier. Logan can recognize the truth within the blink of an eye and gamer girl Emma may know more than she’s letting on. The ghosts of the school are even on the side of the good but the evil force may be way more powerful than they initially thought.

Cade (Default Distraction #3) by A.S. Roberts – Review by Faith Jackson

Cade (Default Distraction #3)Cade by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Default Distraction is a chart-topping band with let me just put this lightly, major success.
We follow drummer and a Morello, son of a Mafia boss, we see Cade expose a more vulnerable side to himself.
We find that Cade Morello is running from something that happened in the life but hasn’t looked back since.
Cade finds himself falling for the band’s lead guitarist’s little sister who has grown up right before his eyes who he thinks will freeze him out.
He has to prove his love for her to show her it’s legit. With every sense of his being, he knows it’s real and he’s in it for the long run. He’s down for the ride no matter where it takes him.
The problem with their love is they’re from two different worlds, two different countries and the world tells them it won’t work and it won’t make sense.
She’s a boss of her own: Keeping her business in check, pushing orders, and living her way on her own time. This is a world she embraces.
The difference with her and Cade is she’s not willing to lay down her guard while he’s putting it all on the table. She believes he’s too much to handle for her.
In this ride of a story, it’s exciting and unpredictable but worth the risk to delve into these character’s lives. Such a fun and interesting read. I couldn’t wait to get through the book just to review it. One of the best books I’ve read in a minute. I highly recommend it!

You’ll love to pick up this one if not for the action alone but the fact that it seems like a modern Western to me which makes this book an instant classic. At least in my humble opinion.

Devil’s Spawn (Satan’s Devils MC Colorado Chapter #6) by Manda Mellett – Review by Faith Jackson

Devil's Spawn (Satan's Devils MC Colorado Chapter #6)Devil’s Spawn by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is another book I’m reading from this author and I’m beginning to enjoy not only the series but the way the author keeps all the stories connected. I enjoy the way the stories are told because it’s suspenseful, loving, mysterious, and intriguing. This book was quite the page-turner because what I love about this author is everything chapter after chapter is connected which is great for anybody a sucker (like I am) for a series. This book most definitely pulled at my heartstrings because you feel for the best for everyone involved. Your heart is torn for Vanna who had to go on with life as a single mother even though her husband was alive but his memory was erased following as a Marine. Vanna is a hell of a woman and your heart aches for her as she attempts to reconnect her family through the memory of her husband who has to re-meet the couple’s son.
Cas, the couple’s son, has become an unruly teenager who needs a father’s guidance. Lizard, Cas’ dad, has been absent in his son’s life but is about to be more present as this story develops. Lizard is about to discover his past as he’s covering a tattoo for a client.
The author wrote this in a way that’s tragic but not in the way you’d think. You’re drawn to the characters but not for the obvious reasons and yet you hope they reconnect. Full of twists and turns and is unpredictable in the best way. This series led to a beautiful ending that the reader wasn’t expecting. I loved this book and can’t say that enough!

How Could I Forget (Plentiful in Love Book 1) by N.D. Jackson – Review by Faith Jackson

How Could I Forget (Plentiful in Love Book 1)How Could I Forget by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book reminds me of one of those Lifetime or Hallmark movie storylines and I’m a cornball, I love it! Kayla is gorgeous, lively, kind and untouchable. She and Dan spent one night together. A night filled with heat and passion to fill one another’s pleasures. Just as quick as started, it was over. After graduation, they’d said goodbye forever (or so they thought) until he found her AGAIN two houses down but 4 years later.
Dan was the cute nerd with gorgeous eyes. Intelligent, reserved, and soft-spoken. Kayla was just as taken with him as he was about her. As cautious as he was, it made her see him in a different light completely. Even though it was one night, their bodies hungered for one another. Their lives changed forever in one night until Dan showed back up where their lives would change forever.
This book is beautifully written and you can’t help but fall for the characters. You find yourself wanting for the characters to confide their inner desires and wind up together. This gives hope to love you pray they share together. Great read!

Mountains Series Boxed Set:(Books 1-3) By Phoebe Alexander – Review by Faith Jackson

Mountains Series Boxed Set: (Books 1-3)Mountains Series Boxed Set: by Phoebe Alexander

This series will have you lurking series after series. Each book takes you on a journey through the relationship of Dr. S. Lynde and Sgt. James McAllister. The doctor is as open-minded about her sexuality as they come but isn’t looking for a relationship when she runs into the sergeant who changes her mind about that and life as she knows it in book one.
In the second series of book two, the reader is in for a book full of shocks and surprises about both characters’ lives. New characters are introduced and so are the twists and turns. In this book, we develop more of an in-depth look into the main character’s lives as they navigate their new love lives.
Finally in the final book of this trilogy, we’re still rooting for the couple as they face new experiences in their lives but with new tests. Pick up this trilogy and you won’t be disappointed in the way the author keeps you transfixed on this series alone. I can’t say how much I appreciate this author’s writing and the characters we’ve come to adore. In conclusion, pick these books up if you want to be entertained and for a good time any time. You won’t regret it!

From the first book to this third of the series, it’s gripped my attention more than I thought it would. The characters feel so real as you experience as much with them as we do in real life. The two main characters are making family decisions and how to move forward as a couple. No matter what they go through, I’m hoping to see them through it all. If you’re gonna read this installment, please pick it up from the beginning! This is well worth the read with so much to look forward to.

A KISS BENEATH A STRAWBERRY MOON (Daydreams & Dragonflies Rock 'N Sweet Romance 3)A KISS BENEATH A STRAWBERRY MOON by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a beautiful story about a singer Drew Kendall and a violinist star Marrielle McKinnon whose stories come together as one after sharing a kiss under the strawberry moon. Their future seems perfect but they’re headed in two different directions as she’s headed for the moon in Hollywood as he’s finishing his education but going into teaching.
After getting into it with his family, Drew’s plans change drastically as he has to drop out of college and heads to the army instead. After being injured, he doesn’t want to turn to Marrielle, afraid he’d burden her but can their love survive?
What I love about this story is it gives you hope for what love can be despite difficult terrains, twists and turns. I love how the characters find their way back to one another and find love in the darkest of times. It makes you believe if you’re not already personally attached in real life in love again and it’s worth it. This book shows the innocence of what love can be. Great read!

The Bar Next Door (Barflies, #1)The Bar Next Door by Katia Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the book you can’t put down because once you start reading, you’re stuck in it and not mad about it. This is the type of book that could be turned into a Hallmark movie or a Lifetime movie. The infamous bar Monroe dishes out the best advice along with the best drinks. Taverne Toulouse is a strong woman who keeps the bar and the staff in check with an iron fist.
Taverne and her staff are in for a whirlwind when a new business opens up next door. Julien Valois is getting ready to take his empire to the next level as he prepares to take everything in sight including the infamous Monroe bar. That is until he meets Ms. Toulouse who gives him a run for his money.
This story is so beautifully written as we go on this ride with the characters. That is until reality sinks in as business goes back per usual but will it tear them away? But this is just the beginning. Pick up this and don’t regret it because it will be worth the read!

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story By Brienne Dubh – Review by Faith Jackson

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate StoryKing & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story by Brienne Dubh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is one mind-spinning tale of love (or lack thereof) and hate. It revolves around main characters Christian Holt and Gabriella King who’ve been rivals for years. Every time they’d see one another, they’d remind one another of their dislikes for the other. During a temporary truce, an unexpected rendezvous leads to more than each bargained for. You find yourself wanting these characters to go all the way because once they’re together, their story becomes that much better. It left me thinking, “What have they been waiting for?” and, “What took so long?”
This leads their perception of one another blurred from what it used to be as to what it is now. The book is a page-turner full of sexy, steamy and mysterious to see where it will lead you with these characters as it’s full of shocks to keep you craving for more. Pick this up and you won’t be able to put it down.

She tries to fall head over heels with Garrett, who she realizes that he’s not worth what she brings to the table.
