Oh my goodness how I wish I could let every little girl that passes my library read this book but I’m not sure my kindle will appreciate all the attention 😉

Our little friends Maia and Gig are off having a picnic when they befriend Trezzie , a mermaid 🧜‍♀️ now only one of our little friends can see her so the other one has her doubts but the 3 of them have fun together and create a beautiful necklace for Trezzie from ice cubes 🧊 ❤️

Not only was this a fun and cute read but there was also a bit of a science lesson to be learnt about the wonders of ice ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a very cute, imaginative story.
The Mind-Reading Hat (Invisible Magic Wand Series Book 6) by Lois Wickstrom is a fun children’s read about a mind-reading hat, a thinking rock, and all the adventures they lead to.

The book begins on “Caspian’s UnBirthday,” having only read one other book in the series, I’m not quite sure what day he celebrates his “UnBirthday.” To get the full story for yourself and the children I would suggest reading the whole series or at least the book detailing what an “UnBirthday” is.

That being said, this is a very cute, imaginative story. It also has very colorful and appealing illustrations that help the reader travel through Caspian’s adventure along with him. This book has magic, adventure, and even shows instances of kindness by helping a turtle.

This short read was really enjoyable and I think it will inspire children’s imaginations about others thoughts and ways to problem solve. I’m excited to share this story with my grandchildren. It would be great for children 4 to 6, but really all ages can find something to love about it.

Its the story of a little boy named Caspian who has received a magic hat and a stone from his grandfather and mother for his un-birthday. He finds out that this hat has magical powers. He realizes when he’s around other people he can hear their thoughts! He calls his stone his “Thinking Stone” so he can solve problems with it. He meets a new friend with his magic hat and has fun listening to others with it. This is such a sweet wholesome read that all families will love. It would make a great gift to a young child in your life! Can’t wait to read the next book!

This is a very cute read for kids! This book teaches the science behind ice, and also is creates a great opportunity to teach children water safety and how to possibly prevent drowning. The pictures were very colorful and vivid, and definitely grab the attention. I feel like this is a story for older children, but definitely could be read to all ages.

This was a wonderful addition to the Mermaid Science series. Maia, Fig, and Trezzie are back with a new project- an ice cube necklace. During this adventure the kids learn about ice and water as well as how the two can different effects when the temperature changes. You even learn one way to help someone that is drowning.

This is just one of the books from this series I have read with my niece and nephew. They loved it as usual and got them asking questions, which I love. The story was well written. I do; however, feel this particular story was geared more to 1st to 3rd grade aged kids not just pre-k and kindergarten aged kids. The illustrations are excellent and make the story come to life for the kids. I would absolutely recommend this book.

Friends Fig and Maia enjoy a picnic and make an ice cube necklace for their mermaid friend. Though only one girl can see their mermaid friend, Trezzie, the girls enjoy the magic of the ice cube necklace and their picnic by the lake together! The diversity of the characters and friendship between them make this a winning story!

Such a good book. I found the story sweet with its own inspiration. The pictures certainly helped the story come to life. I love the visuals that were used to go along with the story. There was a good character development as well. I loved how the kids learned something not just within one another, but also from each other. I love this book series it has its interesting side as well as its educational side. This is a book and series children should read, and I think truly they will very much enjoy this wonderful book.

Maia, Fig and Trezzie are back in an all new Mermaid Science book. Fig isn’t sure if she believes that Trezzie is there because she cannot see her. She does see the ice cube necklace floating away and jumps in to get it before it disappears but nearly drowns. Trezzie saves the day by giving her the ice cube necklace to keep
Her afloat.
The icecubes in the lake are bigger then the ice cubes in the lemonade because warm water melts ice cubes faster then cold water.

My great nieces, great nephew and I continue to love the adventures of Maia, Fig and Trezzie. This book is about an ice cube necklace that Maia and Fig would love to make for Trezzie the Mermaid. As the story comes along not only is it about an ice cube necklace but the science you learn behind it. I even learned, as an adult reading this, something new!!

This book is totally enjoyable and the pictures are fantastic and engaging. Looking forward to more books from this author!

As they are eating, they encounter a mermaid who wants their ice cubes to make a necklace. This book teaches children about science and the different forms of water in a cute and fun way. The Mermaid and the Ice Cube Necklace is a very cute story about 2 girls Maia and Fig who go on a picnic and are visited by a mermaid Trezzie. Trezzie can only be seen and interact with Maia, which makes Fig think she might not be real. Trezzie is very interested in the ice cubes and so Maia uses a straw to blow a hole through them in order to make a necklace for her. This is a cute story with lots of pictures for children to enjoy. The author does a great job of explaining scientific ideas in a way that children can understand. I especially enjoyed at the end of the story where she goes into more details about the different forms or phases of water. She does a great job of explaining scientific ideas in an easy to understand manner that is fun for children!

This is a great children’s story that any child would enjoy. One of my favorite things about this book is how the illustrations made the story engaging. They allow you to get your child engaged in the story and talk about it. They are colorful and detailed. The characters are strong and supportive of each other. I enjoyed the theme of the story and how it will show the child that it is okay to believe. I really enjoyed this story and how fun it is. I highly recommend this book.

I decided to read this book with my daughter as part of our night time routine. She isn’t keen on alien storylines, as she has an active imagination and scares easily. However, she had no problem with this book! In fact, she laughed quite a bit and loved to pretend she was one of the characters in the story. She said she can’t wait to tell her teacher about this book.

It was a great book for us to share together and we both got a kick out of it. We talk about it often and my son looks as us confused when we say words like “glorp” or “spaghettified.” We told him that he will just have to read the book himself to find out. It was a great story and we look forward to reading more by this author.

This was such fun and reminded me of being a kid reading My Teacher is an Alien by Bruce Coville.

When alien attack and kidnap the kids at school in order to get glorp, it is up to Sophia, her brother Aidan and the school librarian, Mrs. Booker to save them all.

I loved Mrs. Booker. The way she talked to the aliens, you just knew she was going to be a fun character and not all that she seemed.

I wish this was a series cause I would love to read more of Mrs. Booker.

The science that is taught and the little snippet at the end about water is wonderful. I like that we can teach kids these things even at a younger age than they would normally learn them. The artwork is beautiful and the story of making holes in the ice cubes to make a necklace for Trezzie the mermaid is fun. I know as a child I always wished there were mermaids.

My grandchildren were so excited to hear another mermaid story. Fig, Mia and Trezzie always have fun adventures and teach about science. The lessons about water and ice cubes was fascinating. Hearing about the ice cubes and how they are larger in cold water and smaller in warm water was fascinating and an experiment that we had to try. Reading about Mia’s rescue brought questions about using ice cubes to rescue. Bright pictures and a fun, entertaining story make reading time special. There are so many ways that the story can be used. I’m a fan of the mermaid stories and this one is a winner. Highly recommended for families.

This was a very easy to read book with colorful illustrations. Caspian, on his “un birthday” gets two gifts from his grand dad, a hat, through which he can hear other’s thoughts and a unique stone, which helps him solve problems. But is it really rewarding to hear what other’s think? Caspian has an adventurous journey with his two gifts and the kids and we as parents can relate to the journey. Loved the book, recommended for kids, especially early readers.

Lois is a former high school chemistry teacher and former head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp in Philadelphia. She has also been an adjunct science teacher at the University of South Florida. Since retiring, she continues to take science classes. Her class in Forensic Biology led to Little Red, The Detective, in which Red is studying fingerprint identification, so she can tell that “Grandma” isn’t who she says she is.

Lois has taken so many science classes that she believes science is the solution to almost every problem, including the dilemmas in fairy tales. She has invented what she calls Science Folktales. In each science-based tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending than the original because of learning scientific principles. She has turned some of these tales into plays for children.

She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.

Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children and four grandchildren, and a dog. She gardens, rides her bike, and tries to save the planet.

There is so much potential when making science fiction stories for this age group, The story grabbed my inner child and I had to keep reading what was going to happen to the aliens, students, and the librarian. The adventure is believable in the eyes of a child. I highly recommend this story to an elementary school-age student.
