Book 2 in the series does an incredible job at picking up in the series where we left off. Chloe, Quintus, Mishti, Elora, and Brannick are fighting the war against the mortals. They are still trying to save the Fae from iron poisoning. This story is full of action, lots of fantasy, drama, suspense, and a little romance. There are a few subplots going on. The author ties them all in so well that it all still runs so smooth. That ending! Cliffhanger, didn’t see that coming…I can’t wait for the next book. This is definitely one of the best YA fantasy series I’ve read.

I was excited to read this book as not a continuation of book 2, but to see where book 2 took me. I was not disappointed! Emilien being a cursed werewolf, wants nothing but his previous life back. His beautiful wife and daughter. With the disappearance of his brother and sister and law, he decides to refocus and try and find them knowing he wont get his life back. When thing come to an interesting turn of events an he has to work with his wife the queen of the dead Hel, things start looking up, or so he hopes. Hel is not looking forward to working with her estranged husband again. They bicker like and old married couple, and can never seems to make decisions. Hel only wants one thing, the daughter she was forced to give up. In this second tale, we come across more mythology and monsters and some of the supernatural. The ending begs a few questions that I desperately want to know the answer!

This book is something I haven’t really read before. This author mixes fantasy, Norse Mythology, and American history all in one book and she does it wonderfully. It has a good balance and it maintains that balance throughout the book. Greif stricken Bernard Marchand, has lost everything he hold dear to him and is a survivor. He meets Alva and he almost believes he can breathe and live again, but he still wants his family back from the dead. He accidentally sets of a series of events that not even Alva is sure she can save them both from. With two strong leads in this book, the reader is never left wanting. Wanting more, yes, but as I read, I was sated with what I was reading. The words playing across my mind like a movie. I can’t wait to see what book 2 brings!

Ice Dance is not your typical fantasy tale. It is an original comedic urban fantasy that the author said is inspired by swashbuckling adventures of the past. Who was I to say no when I saw this. The fun tale will have you enjoying the authors wit and humour. This venture in to a new world where there are twists and you don’t know what you will get.
Vik’s unique writing style draws the reader in to a mystical world of magic but it is not always your normal magic. Is this a thing ‘normal magic’? Any way I digress.
Expect the unexpected and you will be free to enjoy this tale.
When I found out there was going to be a second book of the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series I was ecstatic and this book definitely lived up to my excitement. The author does a fantastic job at continuing to build on the magical world introduced to us in the first book, but focusing on his uncle Emilien rather than Bernard. The paranormal undertones of the book made it a wonderful choice of book for spooky season, and I also continue to love the inclusion of the lesser-known Norse Mythology details in the series.
The story of Emilien and his love the Ice Queen Hel presents an interesting twist on the series. I love that even though they are being forced to work together you can still tell how deeply they care for one another. I’m excited to see what happens in the story of Cyran and Shalendra!

Wilf Gilvary is a young man living in Hong Kong and is obsessed by soccer, but his family, not so much, they would much rather he focuses on his magic, but that is the last thing he wants. It is something he argues with his father about a lot and the more his father pushes him, the more he pushes back, one day in particular they have a huge argument while Wilf is looking for something, especially since while he is sneaking around looking for it, the Mages Crystal which has been in his family for generations shatters.
Later on that morning, while he is at soccer practice, his father mysteriously dies and leaves his magical heritage to Wilf, he now has a decision to make, meanwhile in the magical world there is a political battle raging between the witches and wizards and this has led to a mysterious virus attacking the population. This virus is causing both witches and wizards alike to change, it is also causing them to lose their magic as the virus progresses, the main symptom is a change in appearance, instead of the ugliness this community prizes, the victims are becoming beautiful as well.
As Wilf speaks to one of the witches about his fathers journal, he realises that it holds the key to curing this virus, but it turns out that his father has spelled it so that the only way it can be read is for Wilf to develop his magical skills. This becomes even more stressful for Wilf when the one friend he has made since moving to the magical community is infected by the virus and he knows the only way to help is to embrace his magic and carry out his fathers wishes, but can he do it in time? This is a magical adventure filled with political intrigue, as well as emotional ups and downs as a young man comes to term with his future and the changes he needs to make. It is a gripping tale which will keep you reading as you become invested in the story and the characters within it.

Well, Evan is certainly having a challenging day. Getting chased by his brother ends with falling into the land of elfs. He meets a dragon-morphing girl and many little elves. He ends up on many adventures with her. This story is a fun fantasy full of humor, adventure, and wit. I love the characters. You can feel the quirky personalities. The storyline flows fairly smooth. It’s an enjoyable tale that many will like with dragons, elves, and more.

Mis-Spelled is the first book in the Stellaluna Chronicles by T.H. Leatherman. It is a fun YA fantasy with wonderful world-building, plenty of action, adventure, magic, different realms/alternate world element, wizards, elves, goblins, trolls, fairies, other mythical creatures, friendship drama, contracts, challenges, intriguing developments, and some self-discovery. This was such a fun read- a great little quest. My first read from T.H. Leatherman, but if this is anything to go by, it certainly won’t be my last. Looking forward to the rest of the series. The Virus of Beauty (The Virus of Beauty Book 1) by C.B. Lyall. This is such a good young adult fantasy read. Its the story of Wilf Gilvary who has magic abilities but is terrified to use it. He is afraid that if he uses it and something goes wrong it could really hurt someone. He likes to pretend he is just a normal boy. There is a terrible virus going around among the witches and once his friend catches it he realizes he has to do something. Wilf’s dad has died suddenly and he finds himself in the midst of a battle between the witches and wizards. He doesn’t realize but he may be the only one with magic strong enough to stop the battle. Wilf has to overcome his fear of his magic in order to save his friend and all the witches. There are battles upon battles that will keep you flipping pages late in the night. Even though this was a young adult read I really enjoyed it. Read The Virus of Beauty to see if Wilf overcomes his fear of his magic to save his friends!

What a magical and adventurous book for the first in the series! I’m not sure how book 2, The Veil of Corruption, could get any better, but I am sure sticking around to find out. I lost quite a bit of sleep getting lost in this story, but I’m fine with it. Good books are worth staying up late for!
Our main character is Wilf Gilvary, who is a teenage wizard. He just wants to be a normal teenager and is not in favor of using his magic in pursuit of that normalcy. Once his friend catches the virus, his hand is forced into learning and using his magical abilities. The problem is that magic isn’t easy to pick up. Will he be able to save his friend, or will his fears impede his ability to learn it quick enough?
I truly loved this original YA fantasy. I am excited to see what the rest of the series brings. Don’t hesitate to pick it up now so you can binge the entire series like I’m about to!

This second book in the series follows the story of Emilien and Hel. They were married and in love until Emilien was cursed and turned into a wolf. He and their daughter left Hel and he became the guardian of his realm while Hel stayed in hers. This story has a few of the characters from the last book but is mostly a whole new plot line. I’m again happy for the glossary of people and characters, I just wish they had phonetic spelling too because I think I am saying all the names incorrectly! This book has magic, fighting, love, courage, and so much more. You travel through realms and time and see so much. There are multiple stories happening as they are all trying to figure out why the dead are leaving their realms. It ended pretty quickly but left an opening for the next book which will focus on Emilien and Hel’s daughter, Shalendra.

Hel and Emilien are at odds but are going to have to work together to save their 9 worlds and their daughter is going to have to forgive Emilien… can they all work together to save the 9 worlds from complete ruin? This 2nd installment of the series was much easier to follow, engrossing, full of drama and intrigue, family ties, high stakes adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The Virus of Beauty is Book One in the Virus of Beauty Series. In the first book we are introduced to teenage wizard, Wilf, who would rather play soccer than use his magic because he is terrified of magic. When his father dies suddenly, he finds himself thrust into the political battle between wizards and witches in the Magical Realm. As a virus starts spreading throughout the witch community turning all the witches beautiful, Wilf must overcome his fears of using magic to help his friend Katryna who has contracted the virus.
This book was an intriguing read as it put an interesting twist on the concept of beauty. In the world of witches, the uglier you are the more powerful you are as a witch and beauty is considered a sin. This gives one a lot to think about in a society where so much emphasis is placed on being beautiful and perfect. The characters were well developed, and I found the character of Wilf interesting because as a wizard he had no desire to use magic. I loved Ermintrude’s no nonsense approach to things. A must read for anyone who loves books about witches, wizards, mystery, action, and adventure.

Wonderful story line with two major parts. Alva is queen of the Huldra holding onto centuries old rules of how they obtain their energy, she’s supposed to drain her partner of energy but instead falls in love and chooses not to drain and kill him for his energy. Her people are unhappy with her rein and she’s losing control. Then she learns her partner is betraying her thus starting a countdown to the end… can she stop him? Bernard lost is family in the bombing of pearl harbor and he’s able to time travel. He relives thay moment over and over devastated until he decides to return and change the fate of everyone… but changing the past is never a good idea as it can and will cause chaos in the future what will Bernard’s decisions mean…
Alva and Bernard end up in a odd partnership to stop both of these forces (Bernards actions and Alvas partner) from causing utter destruction… but can they work together?
This story is a little slow to start but boy you won’t be able to put it down once you get into the meat or the story!

I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t realize until after I finished that this is the fourth book in the series. It did not make a difference though. I didn’t feel lost or like I was missing something. This is a stand alone book in the series. However, after reading, I will definitely be checking out the rest of the books in the series. Excellent, excellent book. I loved every part of this book, especially the female main character, Sin. Elemental Fire is the first book in the Hidden Realms series by E.G. Manetti. This checks all of the boxes for me, paranormal romance, fantasy, a strong female main character, investigations, magic, adventure, danger, and more mythical creatures (which some I ended up looking up, and goodness the author did AMAZING describing them because the google images I looked up was exactly what I envisioned when reading.). I was hooked right from the beginning, and I could not put it down, ended up reading it in one sitting. The character develop was A+++, the setting was also painted magnifically, both for the Hidden Realm and Terra. I loved the story of Sin, the way she was raised, her powers of being able to see through glamour, her career choices, her previous men choices, literally loved everything about this woman. I also, thoroughly loved Rad, and even Moreso- loved Rad and Sin together! The chemistry between the two was so intense and electrifying. There is plenty of action and danger, as well as some mystery in addition to the relationship of Rad and Sin. I CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL BOOK 2 is RELEASED! Will definitely recommend to everyone I know!

Ahhh! We are BACK for the sequel. I really enjoyed this one! I love Makayla- and seeing how she was ostracized from her family was interesting. I was wondering how they would react to her being in the Grave Digger Academy. The inter-academy face off was a fun addition to the series. I enjoyed seeing how much Makayla has grown between the first book to now. I’m also kind of glad no one was transferred out of the school to another one- just because I really love the secondary characters in this series. Makayla is GREAT but they are all so funny! There was so much development in this book that really made me excited for the next in the series. Also how did I just realize this author also wrote Evil Sushi? <- one of the best reads I’ve read in awhile!!!

4.5/5 Stars This was my first book by this author and hi really enjoyed it! I was drawn to the book because of the main characters culture, but I loved how well written it was! This book takes on family expectations, romance, disappointments in life, and adds a twist of magic. Not only is this book entertaining, it also captures some of the difficulties of being a young adult trying to establish your own lifestyle. I definitely want to read more by this author!

This book was fantastic! This is the second book in the series and takes us deeper into Makayla’s life while attending The Grave Digger Academy. This paranormal series is one that gets you to really sink your teeth in. This year during school, there is a competition. One that the school could use the win to make the school better. If they were to lose, the academy could be shut down. Makayla is on guard, there is someone who wants to take her down. Will she pull off the win or will her academy be closed for good?

Follow Bernard in Return of the Elf Lord as he tries to bring his wife and children back from the dead, causing more issues than he can handle on his own. Issues that even Norse Gods and Goddesses may not be able to help him with. Can Bernard fix what he messed up? Can he find love again? Pick up Return of the Elf Lord and find out. I fully enjoyed Return of the Elf Lord. It put a great twist on Norse mythology. All characters are relatable, and the details allow the reader to live within their worlds. I would not change a single part of this book. Overall, Return of the Elf Lord is a must read. It is full of adventure, mystery, twists, and turns. I highly recommend picking this book up.

This book like the previous one is a great read. It picks up where book one ended. The characters continue to grow and develop. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Where do I even begin? I absolutely loved this book!
This story follows Emilien (a cursed elf lord), his (semi-ex) wife Hel, who is the ruler of Niflheimr and the Queen of Helheimr, the land of the dead, and their daughter, Shalendrah.
Something dark and dangerous is creeping into their lives. While Emilien is still trying to find his brother and sister-in-law, things just keep getting in his way. And now he and Hel have been thrust into the past and must find out why and how to get back, while their powers seem to be leaving them.
This is a beautiful story that is full of adventure, longing, discovery, romance, and so much more.

Totally loved the first book and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. This author has been added to my favourites and I can’t wait for the next instalment.
Some of my unresolved questions were answered in this book and whilst you could read without having read book 1; I would highly recommend reading book 1 first.

Grave Digger II is a fun and fast-paced book. C.A. King does an excellent job not only giving lots of information about Makayla and the others but making it very easy to visualize what the academy is like. It’s a YA paranormal novel, but I think readers of many ages will absolutely enjoy reading about Makayla’s second year at the academy.
As someone who has six siblings, I enjoyed the bantering between Makayla and her siblings. Even though they go to different schools and compete, her brother stands up for her when it comes to others messing with his sister. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us in the third book in this series.
