Five Stars

Feathers: A Novel is the first book I have read by Kylie Stewart. I have to say, this is my new favorite read of this year. This story started out so heartbreakingly, but ended so heartwarming. Charlotte started her life as no girl should have being sold into slavery, which ultimately made her so strong. Lottie and Hawk’s story was amazingly sweet, but with life’s little frustrations popping up. To watch these two grow into strong well balanced adults was a pleasure to read. I’m hoping that the rest of the girls will get their story told. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by Ms. Stewart

Feathers: A novel by Kylie Stewart is a book that will not only keep you hooked from start to finished but will keep you thinking about it days after you have finished reading.
The blurb made it clear that this book would be highly emotional and deep and that is exactly what you get. With a dark edge running through it you are drawn to everything in this book, from the story to the characters.
As the reader you really do become so invested in Charlotte and Hawk. They have both been through so much and the author portrays that so well.
This is a brilliant read and easily one of the best o have read so far this year. I am looking forward to what else is to come.

I just finished reading Feathers, by Kylie Stewart.

So… This book is AMAZING!

My heart hurt so much for Charlotte at the beginning, it was unbelievable.
But then you get to follow her life and see firsthand how she learns to trust, hope and love again.

And Hawk plays a big part in her transformation but first they got to go through all the emotions – skepticism, shared looks, understanding, friendship, closeness – and all that leads to love so deep, it makes you ache.

I loved all the characters, even the secondary ones – I would actually love to read their stories right from the beginning through their perspective!

But Charlotte and Hawk share a dynamic that makes you second guess all the previous love stories you’ve read and loved – and I think it’s because Kylie Stewart did such an amazing job setting up a foundation for the couple to build on – it’s almost like you, the reader, got to help them get there.

I really hope you pick this book up – I fully recommend it and will be sharing this book for a while to come!

This story!! I still can’t stop thinking about it even after finishing it two days ago! It was such a beautifully, detailed read that I was hooked from beginning to end. This incredibly talented author took me on one of the biggest emotional rollercoasters that I’ve been on for a while. I lived all of the ups and downs with the wonderful characters that she had created.
Charlotte and Hawk – these two – I don’t even know how to explain my feelings about them. I cried for them both, especially Charlotte – what an awful time she had but I admired the strength she had to keep going every day. They are both these two wonderful characters who you just desperately want the best for. I became completely 100% invested in their story.
This is the first full length novel that I have read by this author having previously read short stories by her in anthologies and this truly was an outstanding read. I cannot wait to read more from her in the future and I am eagerly awaiting the release of ‘Wings’!!

Feathers by Kylie Stewart gutted me on page one and had moments throughout the book that my heart just broke.

Charlotte hasn’t had the life of a typical fourteen year old girl when we meet her. She is finally somewhere she is safe and secure and that is not the only change to her life.

Hawk is the type of guy any mother would love to have their daughter bring home. He’s so honorable, but there is so much more to him.

I loved what the feathers represent for Charlotte and seeing them pop up from time to time set my heart a racing.

There are some pretty tough situations but if you can get past the discomfort then I think you will enjoy the book.

Feathers by Kylie Stewart is a book I absolutely could not put down. I read this book in just a few hours because I HAD to know what was going to happen next.

Charlotte Waters has experienced things no one should ever have to go through. She’s finally safe but vows to never trust another man. She does not expect Hawk McLean to see into her nor does she expect to forge a friendship with him. When Hawk first saw Charlotte, she was just a young teen but he couldn’t look away. He had a desire to know her unlike the other girls his grandmother saved. Charlotte can’t help how she feels about Hawk but he keeps leaving and she thinks it might be time to give up. Does Hawk realize his feelings for Charlotte or are they destined to stay the friends they became?

I absolutely loved this story. I didn’t know what to expect when I started it but I couldn’t put it down. Charlotte experienced so much pain and trauma but she came out the other side and built a life. I loved her resilience. Hawk was really trying to do what he thought was best. You could see his genuine care for Charlotte. This is definitely a five star read!

I read the blurb for this book and passed it over several times before I cracked the binding. Yes, the beginning is dark and horrible and should not be over looked.

This story is a fast read. I read it in about 3 hours and when I looked at the page count, I was surprised to see that it is over 200 pages.

Told in dual POV over a 7 year time span, FEATHERS grabbed me from the very first page to the very last word. It is emotional and moving and light and hopeful – even in the darkness.

I think this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will absolutely be picking up the novella mentioned at the end of this book.

While I’m not sure I would recommend to my younger cousins, I would recommend if you enjoy New Age/College stories.

Feathers: A Novel by Kylie Stewart was an amazing story that I was not expecting. To be honest, I was not sure what I was thinking was going to happen. This story has taken me on an emotional roller coaster. Charlotte has so much negativity in her life. There was so much pain, trust broken, fear, and anger. Charlotte has really turned her life around has learned that there is a force of good that will help her. She does not need to be alone all the time. Hawk was another broken person. He has built up a wall around him due to his life choices. Charlotte and Hawk get together and try to figure out their lives and can they learn together that they can have a force of good around them.

Feathers A Novel by Kylie Stewart is a amazingly written story that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. This story had my emotions all over the place. Hawk is very good at hiding his unhappiness and a dark past has caused Charlotte to put up walls. Can these two get into each other’s lives?.This story was completely different than I had expected and is one that will have you thinking about it long after you finish it. These have a great chemistry together. I highly recommend reading this book. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

To trust someone so completely was rare and raw. To live with the scars and still find a love so raw and freeing. During this story I felt every year and ago. I loved that Gran was someone who did what see a painted lips. My only real issue with the story was how Lottie’s character wasn’t developed more. Hawk is an idiot but he is forgiven because he remembers the feathers. Over all I was really excited reading this story. I was sadden and troubled over the beginning. The background was short but it gave you a glimpse of what life she had to get over. I was shocked and sick over the ages some of this girls were when they were taken.

Feathers – A Novel, by Kylie Stewart, was an emotionally raw read. This story is not all roses and fairy tales, but faces the dark, dingy and hard world that exists that we don’t often think of. The way Kylie Stewart wove that into the story was seamless and showcases the authors talent in creating an in depth story with strong emotional draws the reader in. Charlotte’s character is amazing, despite the obstacles and struggles within her life, she finds something to hold on to. I found Charlotte to be multi-dimensional and full of opportunity in this story, to find that the author fully dove into this and outdid herself. The tug and pull in the relationship between Charlotte and Hawk has the reader sitting on the edge of their seat waiting to see the string break and the aftermath that is inevitable. This story includes a cast of characters that are amazing!

Feathers was an emotional 5 star read.

Right from the start I was pulled right in. Charlotte was in a living nightmare, she was sold by her mother’s boyfriend and was held captive by a local gang. What they would do to her was heartbreaking. Until one day she finds herself being taken to a home, where a woman has bought her, Mrs. Ames. There might be a girl of only fourteen standing before her, but that girl’s soul was dead.

At first she isn’t sure what to expect but she starts to let her guard down as she gets to know everyone. This is where she also meets Hawk, Mrs. Ames’s grandson.

Hawk sees it all the time, girls being saved by his grandmother. Using him to show them that not all men are bad. When he saw Charlotte the first time he was pulled in by her, she was different than the others. Hawk also has been deeply hurt, wondering why he was abandoned. Would my past strangle me and prove me damaged? – Hawk

Two souls desperate to trust, willing to fall, and hopelessly entwined by a string of fate.

These two end up developing a great connection. Hawk was so good to Charlotte. There is so much more to this great read. Your heart goes out to both of them and what they went through, these two were meant for each other in so many ways. Charlotte was a strong character. All of the secondary characters were great. I liked the ending but would love to see more from these two. I look forward to reading more from Kylie, she pulls you right in with her writing.

This was not what I expected, as I went into this book blind. I felt so many emotions in this book, I was right with Lottie through them all.
I really liked Lottie and the strength she had as she grew up. She took what negative things happened to her and grew from them, even if they tried to hold her back.
I really loved her wish she had at Christmas and how it was thought out throughout the story. And i hope to see more of these characters in more stories!

Feathers by Kylie Stewart is a story that you will find yourself thinking about after you finish it. It is so well written that while reading you felt like you were there, living it with Charlotte “Little Lottie” and Hawk, and because you were living it with them then you keep feeling it in your bones …
Kylie has given us two old souls that both carry such burden that at times you were wondering how they were able to function as ‘normal’ as they did … you could clearly see why they were drawn to each other and how Charlotte was able to trust a man – Hawk. You feel for them and you hope that together they would learn how to be free and how to find happiness, even if it takes years! Feathers is an emotional rollercoaster that moves slowly so you are forced to feel deep. I noticed that that there will be Wings novella so I am looking forward to where the journey will take our Charlotte and Hawk!

I loved this book. It is a little dark in places but it is a hard to put down book that I read in one sitting. I loved how it pulled me in from the first word. It took me on an emotional roller coaster that I had to have more of. Charlotte has a dark past which has caused her to put up walls. Hawk is good at hiding his unhappiness behind his cold demerer. Will they be able to break into each other’s hearts? They are great characters with strong chemistry. Their story is a must read.

“I vowed never to trust another man as long as I lived, but Hawk had begun to break down that promise. He was good. Kind. And for the first time, I really believed that everything would be okay.”

Feathers: A Novel is an incredible story by the very talented Kylie Stewart. This story took me on a journey I won’t soon forget, scrambling my emotions along the way. The story has a dark edge to it, especially in the beginning. There is lots of pain, feelings of betrayal, hopelessness, and fear- then some rays of light and sense of hope appear. With plenty of chemistry, angst, passion, and of course romance- this story had me hook right till the end.
Charlotte Waters has endured something that no one should ever have to experience, especially a child. She was sold by her drug- addicted mother’s low-life boyfriend- to a gang who kept her captive for a year, treating her deplorably- she was living a nightmare existence- before she was finally ‘brought’ and released from that hell.
It’s then that she meets Hawk McLean, who has his own baggage- but who also ignites a spark deep within her. These two develop a connection that transcends all bounds. I really won’t disclose more than that, because it would spoil the story for you, I really recommend diving in, and letting the author and story weave their magic- it’s well worth the read!
The story is very emotive- sweeping me through the whole spectrum of emotions- and keeping me on tenterhooks the entire time. I really felt for Lottie and what she had endured. I admired her strength, bravery and resilience- she was so much stronger than she believed. I was rooting for her/them the whole way through. There were some really sweet, tender, and touching scenes- and a whole lot of sizzle. I loved the ‘meaning’ behind the ‘Feathers’, and the fact that fate put these two on a collision course- to teach each other to ‘fly’ . The characters were just superb!!
I can’t wait to read ‘Wings’ when it releases!

Thank you, Ms. Stewart!

Charlotte Waters came into my world unexpected—dirty, bruised, and broken. No matter how much I attempted to keep my distance, curiosity grew to know her story. Under my gaze she became a woman—wild and willing to love my black heart.

I told myself to never trust men again for as long as I lived. Being sold by your mother’s druggie boyfriend does some damage, you know? So when I meet Hawk McLean, a young man who hides his own unhappiness behind a cold veneer, I’m skeptical.

I heal. I grow. I not only learn to trust Hawk, but I fall in love with him. And that’s a problem, because he left, coming and going in my life like the ocean tides he chased.

Will he ever see me? Or is the gap too wide for love to reach?
