Van is back in the third book of the Anchoress series. You need to read the first two books before diving into this one. The author gives enough information from the first two books to know what’s going on, but with all the danger and action in them you really wouldn’t want to miss out. The author has a way with words that are cleverly woven and masterfully created and adventure that you get lost in it. It’s written so vividly that it’s an experience, an adventure, and not just a story. It’s an amazing book and will be through the years to come.

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming historical romance novella and was hooked from start to finish. Noah Adams discovers that the large piece of land gifted to him by his father on his twenty first birthday, will only legally be his if he marries within four weeks. Noah has limited choices as there are no local women available. Meanwhile, impoverished spinster Mary Stanton is about to be promised to a lecherous man, whom she has escaped from in the past. Mary jumps at the chance to enter into a proxy marriage with Noah. The plan is for Mary to walk away at the end of the contract, but as the couple spend more time together there is hope that their marriage of convenience may turn into a love match. This is a sweet, clean romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger. It’s an enjoyable and engaging fairly quick read which is wonderfully written, and has likeable and relatable characters in Mary and Noah. The setting is brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in the storyline. I look forward to future books in this series.

This was a rather refreshing love story that focused more on the characters and their lives than just moments of romance with tidbits about things going on in their lives. I loved how easy it was to imagine the story, and the flow, even though it was told from two point of views, was perfect. Though it was pretty short, I feel like the lives of Emily and Dr. D were showcased well, and not a second thought as I’ve seen with other stories of a similar length. It was adorable, really, to read some of the chapters and thoughts from both sides. I think I may have laughed out loud a few times, definitely was caught grinning like a madwoman at my screen more times than I can count. Reading this short story has made me curious about the rest of the books written by this author and I will be checking them out.

This series just goes from strength to strength. Each book seems to be as good, if not better, than the last. I reconnect so easily with the characters each time. The author seems to have created a lasting and interesting series that sach book just adds to. I look forward to starting a new one and cannot wait to see how they are going to turn out. I would highly recommend the series to any YA fan.

I appreciated that I could follow the story without having read the first book. I enjoyed the Tree of Life and the weaving of mythology that comes along with it. The time old good vs. evil is well played in the storyline as well. Seth’s need to make impossible choices really helped deepen his character. I did not like jumping between characters but that is just a personal preference. I thought this was overall an interesting book.

This is an amazing follow up book to this series. I went straight into this after reading book one and it took no effort at all to fall right back into the characters. The author has managed to push the series forward while still keeling it fresh and exciting. I love the team.of characters right at the core of this series..they are interesting and all add something different to the story. This is another fantastic book and I am already looking forward to the third.

~Fantastical Romance will have you reading through the night~
A read I picked up last week to be honest for the cover (I’m a sucker for good covers!!!) There were a number of other good reviews as well as a very intriguing synopsis. What drew me in though was the characters development. They stand alone really well on their own, but the author does a phenomenal job of bringing them together in a way that is truly exceptional.
This is typically my favorite genre to read; fantasy, romance, a little bit of darkness. What I haven’t read before is the tinge of history you get from this. I have to say it drew me in the way “Vikings” or “The Last Kingdom” did…such a good presentation it had me actually interested in Mythology and the historical context around the storyline.
Overall a great, straightforward read. If you are on the fence it has just the right amount of uniqueness and originality to make you begging for more.

What a fantastic young adult novel. You are really thrown into this book and made to sit up and take notice. I really loved the main character. She felt like such a well rounded character with a great story. I connected with her straight away and that didn’t waver once. The whole book was so well written. It was exciting right from the word go and I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. A genuinely fantastic book that uas me excited for the next one.

This author always has a knack for transporting me with her words and making me feel as if I am in a magical world. It doesn’t even have to be a magical type themed novel to feel magical as I read, her writing is so invoking and mesmerizing I am completely taken away on these journeys as I read that I was wrapped up in the story and transported. I love every moment I spend with the characters and become so fully invested every time. This time was no exception to the rule and I loved that we got to see the side of a geisha’s life. I have always had a bit of a fascination with that world and so this was a nice little peek into that for me with the added bonus of a gorgeous romance storyline to follow as well. This story was often haunting at times and yet I felt moved as well. I found myself really feeling the gambit of emotions as I read, and really that is what we all want to feel when we slip into a novel. I couldn’t put it down and found myself reading this well past my bedtime to see how things would culminate. I most certainly cannot wait to see what else this author is cooking up for us next!

I absolutely adore when an author can continue the story with no ‘what if’s’ between installments. That is exactly what you can expect to get when you pick up this second book in the Guardians of the Garden series. We all know some variation of “The Joneses,’” at least in my opinion. Folks that will do everything and anything they can to get ahead in the world, and not have a care about those that they use to get to where they want to be/what they want to achieve. This story submerses the reader again into the world of Edenia, as Seth decided to move forward in the plan to bring Miriam to them to complete his task so that he can join his sister to potentially save her life. The internal struggles almost amount to struggles that the Edenians’ and the Guardians are experiencing in this action-packed, thrilling ride of an adventure.
I quite enjoyed getting to know the other characters a bit more as well, and the strength that they have individually and as a community, especially when something of importance to all is at risk, such as the Tree of Life. What’s truly spectacular is the introduction of new ideas throughout the novel, and the way that we, the reader, bounce back and forth between a few different characters so that we are able to really get a feel for the overall emotions not only they feel, but the way that we are supposed to feel while deep in the thick of it. I so look forward to reading more by this author, and will be having interesting dreams for a while, I’m sure of it. Pick this up, I guarantee you’ll enjoy it!

I traveled through AllCreation and many universes in such a wonderfully written book. I absolutely loved reading about the different Multiverses and the many higher being characters. Ancient Ones, Atlanteans, The famed Shangri La, Isotonian a version of Egypt, and a great deal of fantasy make this book such a great read! Adventure awaits for the reader on every page and the good guys are so full of higher living and intentions and power from within. I just couldn’t put the book down. No spoilers here in the review but can I just say that WOW, I am so glad to have read the book. There are so many great ideas and practices to take away from reading this book. I have really gained understanding into finding the seat-of-power within myself and have a real feel for the connection through all worlds here and in the universe. My favorite character in this book is Rachael, the daughter of two wonderful and powerful humans, who can communicate with nature. The innocence that is brought through her eyes is a reminder to view our world through the eyes of others whether it be human, animal, insects, trees, or even rocks. Everything has a purpose, and one must just seek silence within themselves to hear the thoughts of others. Do yourself a favor and read all three Journeys Through books. You will not be disappointed in the reading, the characters, or the message!

Gem is a badass woman who makes you feel a lot of emotions for her. She got out of a situation and strives not to become that way again. She meets a hot guy and things progress. Gem finds herself in situations that she has to fight to get out of again but in doing so she finds what might be the love of her life potentially. There are situations that Gem is thrust into that she has to work to get out of. This author is a phenom with issues that seem so believable and that you are with Gem. There are some difficult things that Gem goes through be prepared for anything is her motto.

Rourke Berger is hoping to make this year perfect but with obstacles such as neighbors will make that a difficult goal to reach.
I thought the cover and premise looked fun. The worries of seventh grade seemed like a lifetime ago to me so seeing it from Rourke’s view was even more exciting.
I went into this book thinking it would be like Diary of a Wimpy Kid with hilarious plots and characters but it was actually really heartwarming.
Rourke has a lot of problems going on, not only in his own life, with his sibling, but with the lives of his friends, which causes him to worry.
I highly recommend this novel to not only middle school but everyone. It went into this believing it was going to be a novel full of humorous chaos with Rourke, but finished it with a different perspective. I love it when I am wrong about a novel.

This is the third book in the series. It CAN be read on its own, but I highly recommend reading the first two books first. Not only because the series should be read in its entirety to really get the full effect, but because it’s just so damn good, you’re gonna want to read all of it anyway. This isn’t my typical genre of reading, but I am glad I picked up the first book. This author has a way of pulling the reader through the words on the page and into the story. If you are into action, science fiction, and fantasy (or even if you usually don’t), dive right into this series. The characters are well-developed and interesting and the plot is full of action and jumps off the page! I give this book 5 stars, and if I could give the entire series twenty stars, I would.

This authors writing is incredible! As many have said before me, she pulls you right into the world in which Seth and his family reside in. The world building is top tier, as is the character development, which is what one would expect from the first novel in a series, and it was beautifully done. I felt a little overwhelmed by my own personal biases whilst reading this novel, which made it even more of an interesting story. The reader, I felt, is lucky enough to watch many different aspects unfold and to really connect to the characters that we meet along the way.
These Guardians of the Garden of Eve are certainly a species all their own, and I found it very interesting to discover more about them as the story goes on. Everyone seems to have their own internal struggles with determining what’s right/wrong, or if they would prosper by following their own hopes and dreams, rather than just going with the flow. I wasn’t sure what to expect as this was the first novel I’ve read by this author, but very much look forward to continuing this adventure with the next installment in this series. I was pleasantly surprised and recommend a read for sure!

Sinful Vow was SUCH a great story!! I am new to the mafia genre but this book had me hooked. Steamy, exciting, & suspenseful it grabs your attention! I could not help but fall in love with Luca. Such intensity! He is loyal to a fault and his own dark version of a white knight. And Ally is a wonderful heroine! She is strong, brave, and driven. When these two clash it is sinfully steamy!!
Seven Strengths: A Tale from Turaset (The Industrial Age) by P.L. Tavormina. This is a great young adult science fiction read. Its the story of Celeste who is your average teenager but she wants more out of her life. She accidentally finds a small village and the townspeople accept her 100% showing her their world which is vastly different from her own. Celeste’s family has a strange power being able to read carbon footprints and the bad guys want them dead. Celeste begins to think that her old life wasn’t so boring after all. Meeting new people along her journey Celeste realizes that her small world is just that very small and there is a lot more out there including danger. Depending On You by Jessica Aiken-Hall. I love this author. I have not read a book by her I didn’t love and this one is no exception. I loved this book! Its the story of Cate and Patti and their undying friendship. This friendship is the kind we all dream of. Ride or die, Thelma and Louise. They are there for each other no matter what. Cate was living the life of her dreams until a tragic accident. Instead of owning up to the mistake she runs and it determines the path of her life for a long time. Cate has finally determined she has to own up to the mistake and pay for it with her freedom. Patti is over 400 miles away but she knows she has to go be with Cate. As usual when Cate and Patti get together and its like they have never been apart but when secrets are revealed will their friendship stand the test? Read this amazing book about forgiveness and friendship.

I was intrigued to read this book after reading the synopsis and appreciating the fabulous cover art.
Ono Aia begins as a timid young woman living in Japan with aspirations to be someone desired and of importance. As a geisha-in-training, she was often ridiculed based on her body shape which clearly led to a dampening of her confidence. Her bosom and hips were larger than most, which some did not find appealing. Aia’s expectations regarding how her life would turn out was not as positive as she’d like but she hungered for a chance to prove she could do whatever was necessary.
Just as Aia thought her time to shine would never come, a change in circumstances allows her to present herself as Ume, while very important dignitaries visit the area. A dark and mysterious guardsman immediately catches her eye and life as she knows it changes in the blink of an eye.
The remainder of the story includes danger, action, mystery and adventure all while Aia learns more about herself, her strength and her openness for love.
I enjoyed reading this book and liked how the author ended the story making the reader want even more. They could clearly and easily continue with this storyline and build out the characters a bit more. Especially with Nen and his background, as he could be an immensely valuable and adored character. To follow Aia and her journey into learning more about her strengths, her desires, as well as her overall growth and maturity could be a substantial opportunity for the readers and author.
I believe readers will thoroughly enjoy this book and the phenomenal imagery.

Apocalypse (Guardians of the Garden Book 2) by Theresa Pocock. This is a great read. I loved the first booka and this one was no different. This one picks up where the 1st one left off so I highly recommend reading it first to better understand. Miriam has put all her trust in Seth because the whole town is shunning her since they have found out about her new powers. Miriam has really begun to care a lot about Seth and he has finally found someone he can count on. They have to hang on to each other in their battle for the tree of life but if Seth won’t let go of his enemy he will never fulfill his total power. It is hindering him in his battle for the Tree of Life and his relationships as well. This book is a mix of myth, folklore and mystery. It will keep you turning pages late into the night!

Jump into an action packed high stakes military Sci fi adventure!
this is a well done military Sci fi that starts out with Kat a MC who thinks she’s been dispatched to a boring assignment but it turns into anything but. This multi POV military Sci fi brings so much camaraderie, sarcasm, quick humor and strong attention to detail that you feel immersed in these characters adventure and its hard not to like any of them.
I did feel like the action was a tiny bit rushed so I had to slow down my typical reading style to make sure I got all of the well built details but it is worth it as you can easily miss important bits it you aren’t paying attention.
this adventure is left open with hopefully more story to come as you’ll be invested in the outcome of the story at the end!

This was an amazing read! I really bonded well with these characters! I fell in love over and over again, the characters were easy to love. As well, the plot was beyond anything I would have expected. I had not read the previous books in the series, but was able to follow, but will for sure be reading them now though!
The story was written with very much intelligence. I enjoyed the author and how they wrote and created the story. I was swept into the task at hand. Val was great, you could tell she came a long way it seemed since from the beginning. I loved her courageous side, and she was the one who never gave up, despite anything going on. The other characters surrounding her were just as amazing. i loved how they seemed to all be one another’s rock. I loved how the story progressed , as well as a lot of time I did not know what to expect. The suspense was kept up well. I really enjoyed this book, in fact, I loved it!
Highly recommend this book. It was very well written, and the author knew how to keep the reader interested. I loved the writing style of the author as well. This is a must read!

This is the fourth book of the series but can be read as a standalone. There was a lot to unpack with this book but once you get sucked in you can’t help but keep reading! I couldn’t put it down.
Gem hasn’t had it easy but now she’s playing it safe. That is until she meets Shep and his MC. Everything is fine until it starts taking a turn for the worst. So much happens, it was hard to keep straight at first but you definitely get sucked in and have to keep reading to see how it plays out.
Gem is a great character. She is tough and you can’t help but root for her and her happiness. She’s an easy character to relate to. There are some tough subjects that are broached but I think the author did a very good job touching on them. I am definitely going to have to read the other books in the series.

An intriguing tale of myth, folklore, and the end of times! Definitely a story that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat wanting to know what’s going to happen next. Seth is “recruited” to look for a “special” person in Edenia. Could Miriam be that person? The characters are well-written. Secrets abound in most of them. I love the fact that everyone is hiding something. The plot lies around that fact. A little choppy in parts but overall, a fun read.

Naomi has done it again! You never know what you are going to get from this author, but you know it will be a wild, and entertaining ride. She gave me the laugh I needed at just the right time. My husband asked if I was reading one of her books from the way I was laughing out loud and tears running down my face. It is my kind of humour. This for me is her best work to date. It is hilarious, crazy, quirky, bizarre, and magical all at the same time. I am not going to give anything away as this gem needs to be savoured like a fine wine and uncovered all by itself. In the second book of this original YA fantasy series, the Edenians find themselves in the middle of a fight to keep evil from getting to the tree of life and trying to preserve thousands of years of secrets. It is an original premise with multiple layers with myth, folklore, religious overtones and more. The characterisation is once again strong and complex and have real depth to them. It is beautifully written and cleverly crafted where the world building ensnares you as much as the magic we find in the story. The Joneses it seems have had a long-standing endeavour to get what they want, and they don’t care who they step on to get what they want even if it means taking out their own in the way.

This is the 3rd book in the Anchoress series and they just keep getting better and better. The author’s growth of the characters and their relationships is really good and the reader feels like they have grown as the characters develop. The world’s the author creates are magical but also seem so realistic.
We are back with Van and her friends as they go on the missions every summer to find the sacred items of creation. This time Van needs to find the staff with the flame. However her boss has other ideas. She doesn’t want Van to go off searching. She needs her to go and stop the increase in demons and figure out why the shield protecting their World seems to be failing. After completing in the Jaychund Games and failing Van starts to have doubts about her abilities but when she breaks a rule in the Balish territory she finds herself placed in another round of games. How is that fair? Add to this Van having to watch her friend and ex boyfriend flirting at every opportunity and her crush on the Balish Prince can Van keep her focus long enough to complete her mission and solve the mystery around the third seal. Or will the distractions prove to much and with the additional worry or a virus and enemies out to get even with her she doesn’t know who she can trust and who only has her back to stab her in it.

This is the 2nd book in the Anchoress series and its just as captivating as the first book. I do recommend reading the first book to get a complete understanding of the characters however the author does an amazing job of bring parts of the first book into this one so the reader will still understand and enjoy this read if the first book hasnt been read.
We are back with Van. After her successful mission in the last story and the revelation of her gifts and responsibilities to her people Van is pushing herself harder than ever to become the best warrior. She can’t let anything or anyone be her weakness so she puts a hard shell around her to keep her strong. However by doing that she isn’t facing and dealing with the losses she experienced in the first book.
In this second story she has new challenges to face. Firstly the boy she loves she can’t be with because he’s her protector. Secondly her new mission has her enter a part of the living world full of con men, and pirates and a women who may not be a woman but who is very dangerous. This part of Living world is much rougher and far more dangerous than Van has experienced before. And those challenges are just the tip of what Van goes through. However with the help of her best friend Paley and her protector Brux she sets out to complete this mission as well keeping her people safe. But at what cost? Van is aware of darkness that lingers inside her. Will she be able to keep the darkness at bay or will her actions and the curse of her ancestors bring it to the surface?

This is the first book in the Anchoress series. And wow what a ride. This book is action packed from the first page. The author does an amazing job with the characters and bringing their worlds to life. At first I was a little confused with between the living world and earth world but after a while I got used to it. The twist at the beginning of the story was different. How the story started by focusing on Van’s father and then goes straight on to focusing on Van was different but made for an intriguing story. You just knew there was something special and unique about Van.
When her father goes missing Van is selected to go on a secret project but not knowing what that project is she decides to take her friend Paley along for the ride. Using gemstones to travel via a portal the girls set off with no idea of the consequences of their actions and what it means to have used the stones. What happens next is an adventure that keeps the reader gripped as the girls try to uncover what happened to Van’s father. Is he dead or has something happened to him? Did he do the things he was accused of? And can Van protect him while trying to complete her own project and keep herself and her friend safe.

Helm of Awe is the third book in the Anchoress Series by D.L. Armillei. I have loved every book in this wonderful series, and this story was no exception. After enjoying the previous two books so much, I had high expectations for this story. I am happy to say that Ms. Armillei didn’t let me down, delivering everything I could have hoped for, and more. That’s not to say there weren’t a few tense moments that had me a bit worried though. As with the previous two books, this is a young adult fantasy- another adventure full of magic, demons, past enemies, a deadly plague, royal politics/agendas, assassins, set ups, threats, mystical beings/creatures, witches and wizards, dramatic developments, obstacles, good vs evil, mystery, and more. Van’s quest finds her seemingly up against impossible odds. How can she succeed when fate seems so intent on throwing her one curve ball after another. Making things even more daunting is the fact that her powers are a bit unreliable. What happens makes for another captivating adventure. I can’t wait to see where we go from here. What does Ms. Armillei have in store for us next? It’s sure to be fantastic!!! Happy Reading !
