Unlock the Angel (Seraphim Angel Order 1) by Calla Zae – Review by Amy Brennan

Unlock the Angel (Seraphim Angel Order, #1)Unlock the Angel by Calla Zae
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a very beautifully written romantic adventure. It has all that you could possibly want from the romance genre itself. It has the strong, independent heroine that knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go for it. Cathy Lu has been through enough of life’s hardships that she can find it difficult to trust, and that shows through her connection with Daedriel, who not only has his own demons, but fights them, or at least the darkness, too. I really enjoyed the way that the author brings to light some of Cathy’s heritage and family traditions growing up, too, certainly made me a little homesick!

Daedriel is what I would consider a brilliant yin to Cathy’s yang, as throughout the novel, their connection deepens. He is her sexy Carpenter, being there for her to improve her space and show her all that life can give to her, within the mortal world, and outside. The connection Cathy shares with this handsome seraph gives this reader hope for women everywhere, as I think it’s important to be able to balance one another. Truly, this novel kept me hooked, I enjoyed the action sequences, the curiosity it evokes, and the romance, of course, all tied in together, and I thoroughly look forward to reading the next installment in this series. Well done, certainly recommend!

I was very impressed not just by the cover of this book, but as well as the story that unfolded right before my eyes. The story had a mesmerizing take as a treat for the readers, as well as the characters and the events that happened that brought all things to life.

Personally I loved the fantasy of this story. It was real to me, and the vivid descriptions of the book really took flight in a good way. I was amaze and read. I loved the characters, the good vs. evil was very strong in this book. Loved how the author played on words with morals of the characters with what is wrong and what is right. Also, how actions we choose can and will affect our life later on. The story was a fast [aced read and impossible to put down. I was impressed and amazed. Really loved this one!

As said, I loved this book with a passion. Defiantly a must read and recommend you reading this as quick as possible. It is a rare delight, best to be enjoyed. I can not wait to see what happens next in the series. The author has now gained a new fan to their fellowship! Recommend the book and author highly!

This is the second book in this series which I enjoyed just as much as the first. I highly suggest reading the previous book before this one to help your enhancement of this series and the author’s writing skills. This is a book that pulled me in from the beginning. It is an engaging, full of action, fast paced story that was hard to put down. I enjoyed how the characters brought the story to life. The Traveler is my favorite character as he is strong and I felt for him in parts. I enjoyed his growth as well as how supportive all the characters were to each other. This is a well written story that took me on a journey of challenges and a question of who you really are. This is a great story that I really enjoyed. I highly recommend this book.

A quick read that I definitely wish was a lot longer! Even though I was left with a few questions I enjoyed the story of Dr D and Emily very much. They are wonderful characters that you really fell for very quickly. My heart broke for Desmond and the absolutely heart breaking, no win situation he is put in! I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I will just say I really hated his family and the way they treated him. Emily is a bubbly character and a truly great match for Dr D. If you are after a read with great characters who have loads of heart and a HEA this is the one for you!

They pulled me into their world and made me want to know what happened next. I enjoyed the growth of the plot as it made the story entertaining and easy to read. This author has given us a story that is a blend of romance, fantasy, and Norse mythology. It starts off a little slow but soon gets going and entices and intrigues till the end. With a beautiful descriptive narrative, intricately woven threads, and great world-building leads to a tapestry of enjoyment. There is plenty of action, magic and emotions, desperation, sadness, happiness, and everything in between. With elves and characters of all types, this tale is one you can tell the author has put heart and soul into. This book is the first I have read by this author, and I enjoyed it immensely. I had devastating news early hours of this morning and this story was able to get me out of my head for a while. With twists and turns at every angle this is one thrilling and suspenseful tale.

This series is amazing, and I find this book one of the best in the series. As far as a paranormal series, I find it has elevated what I expect when I read a paranormal. It has some of your favorite elements of a paranormal, but also has a mafia feel as well. Master Trentino is dark and delicious read with danger, intrigue, and forbidden fruit. I love the whole series, but this one exceeded my expectations!

This is such a beautiful unexpected romance. I really enjoyed this book. It transported me back to a time when slaves were treated like property and had no rights of their own. Leon felt a pull towards Penny from the moment he first laid eyes on her, and she couldn’t get him out of her mind either. They quickly grow closer and both want more than a slave master relationship. They face so many obstacles along the way and the depth of their love for each other takes my breath away. This is a beautiful romance that pulled me in from the very first page and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

The Billionaires Slave was a different kind of book for me. For one it deals with several sensitive topics at once. Racial tensions, slavery, and sex. Second, it’s set in a different time. People talked and acted very different, but even while acknowledging that, I struggled with some of the language. I don’t think this is a book that’s for everyone. I couldn’t put it down, but there was times I wanted to. Overall, I thought the author did a great job with characterization and plot.

The book is part of a brand-new Contemporary Romance series where each book is written by different authors. The books promise to be a smorgasbord for all. Even though it is part of this series it is a standalone read but characters or scenes may cross-over into other books. The characters are a blend of passionate and fun loving and full of charming and dirty doctors, naughty nurses, and dirty & patient shenanigans. A story that will entertain, titillate, and thrill. There is just a little drama to make for a wonderful short read.

Appearances and rumours are not always what they seem. You can’t believe everything you hear. Think McDreamy and McSteamy from Grey’s Anatomy…… This is one series I intend to devour.

It is an historical romance story, set in the 1860’s in South Carolina in which interracial relations between white male slave owners and enslaved blacks where women are ripe for the picking. Their illicit attraction soon turns into so much more against all odds. At times the narrative is gripping and intense and is quick read. It is full of action, drama, suspense, and romance. The authors descriptive narrative brings to life the characters and the setting of the life back then. It is almost like a history lesson. Whilst the story is good, I still find it hard reading about slavery and their treatment.
He is a gentleman but one look and obsessed with her and will have her at all costs.

Another wonderful love story from this talented author.
Note: this is not a story about slavery, it is however a sublime love story that happens to be set in the slavery era.
Well done!

Emily is so relatable! Oh my goodness did Emily make me laugh out loud more than a few times. Desmond is so dreamy and has such a big heart. It breaks my heart seeing the way that he’s treated by other people that judge him without the whole story. He goes through so much that I was cheering the whole time for him to finally get a happy ending, he so deserves it! I really enjoyed seeing the immediate connection between Emily and Desmond and the way that they just ignite in each other’s presence on so many levels. This is such a sweet and funny romance that is so relatable in many ways. You definitely won’t want to miss this one.

This was a great 5 star read, I was pulled in right from the beginning.
The author does a great job with her writing. I loved the characters and enjoyed reading their story, my emotions were all over the place.

The story is written during the slavery era. Leon was owed a debt in which he chose to take Penny. He had plans for her but what he didn’t expect was Penny would turn the tables on him and his heart. We get several twists and turns that added a great element to the story.

Overall I really enjoyed this read. Having visited a plantation myself and learning history of the relationships between female slaves and their owners it was a nice twist from reality. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I debated on reading A Bride for Noah for a couple days, before finally downloading it. I am glad I chose to read it, because I really enjoyed it. The summary of the story caught my attention, but the cover art made it seem like it would be really old fashioned. While the story did take place in an earlier time, it didn’t feel like an old western. I look forward to reading more in the series, as I assume they are going to be about Noah’s brothers. This book is the story of 2 young people forced into a marriage of convenience. Noah’s father passed away and made it a condition in his will that Noah must marry to keep his land. Mary is stuck between a rock and a hard place, and chooses to marry a complete stranger, rather than the man of her father’s choosing. I was very happy with the ending, because for a while, I didn’t know which direction the story would go. I don’t want to give anything away, but recommend this book. Its super short, but has a lot of content.

A Spider in the Garden by Courtney Davis

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Although it will not be my last, I can promise you that. The author sure does know how to capture a reader’s attention. A Spider in the Garden is an amazing book!

Aranha thought she was the last of her kind. When she saves a boy from his abusive father only to find that he’s a werewolf. Then she is found out by a Daywalker who she has taken a liking to. The quote I chose for Aranha is: “He won’t hurt you ever again, and I will get you out of here. I won’t harm you, Jonah, I swear it. No one is going to harm you ever again.”

Dag likes to be alone and doesn’t want to follow anyone. When a webmaker walks into his bar he wants to get to know her more. He finds that he wants to spend more time with. The quote I chose for Dag is: “Yeah, you didn’t come back alone, apparently the girl was primed enough to take on Eve’s spirit and when you escaped back from the garden she came too. Turned her into a webmaker as a result.”

Highly recommended for Fantasy Paranormal lovers.

This was a really good short book. This author did a really good job at portraying a western story. Reading about Mary’s prior living conditions really pulled on your heartstring. You hope that it gets better for her and you just want to wrap her up in a warm blanket and tell her everything is going to be okay. In walks Noah, needing a bride to fully claim his land he meets Mary. Noah has a good head on his shoulders and a good heart. These two are absolutely wonderful for each other.
There are no lust scenes in this book and it doesn’t need it whatsoever. The romance itself is just so wholesome and amazing to read. You really don’t mind or care because it is written really well. I enjoyed reading this little novella and I want to read more from this author! well done!

I really enjoyed this fast paced romance. The characters are endearing and even though its a short story you are completely captivated by them.

Dr D has quite the reputation around the hospital. Rumour has it he is an amazing lover but only even does one night stands. Dr D hates this rumour and shys away from relationship with co-workers because of it. That is until he meets Emily.

Emily has heard the rumours and doesn’t believe this man exists but boy was she wrong. After a rough night out and a dinner date she gets to see if the rumours are true. The questions is can she have a no string on night stand? Will she want more? Or will the commitment come from the person no one expects?

The Billionaire’s Slave: Steamy Historical BWWM Romance by Stacy-Deanne

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. The author has once again out done themselves. The Billionaire’s Slave had me hooked from the beginning. Leon and Penny made me wonder about what really happened with people like the characters.

Leon is a Slave owner, but he’s not like most. His slaves are treated well and not like the other slaves. When he goes to collect money only to find out that they don’t have it. He wants their last slave, but he doesn’t only want her as a slave. The quote I chose for Leon is: “Oh, no I wanted the baby, but I just didn’t think it was the right time. I had everything, Penny. Everything a man could want. I took it for granted and lost it. Men envy me for my money but I’d trade it all away to have my baby. My precious baby.”

Penny has been with Rose’s family since she can remember. When she learns that her Master has sold her she is happy. Can she and Leon have a relationship? Will they last? The quote I chose for Penny is: “I’s love Massa Falcon with everything in my heart and as long as we knows we married, that’s all that matters. Ain’t you always sayin’ we’s can’t let society tell us what to do?”

Highly recommended for Historical Romance lovers.

It was a good story that needed more time. The story spent too much time on building the relationship between co-workers and not enough on the two main characters. Once they spent time together there were some cute moments. The animal story was very funny! I did enjoy the internal musings of Dr. D. He is more than the rumors make him out to be!

Then near the end time jumps forward (not sure how long) and it isn’t stated anywhere til further in the chapter. Maybe an epilogue with saying we are now somewhere else..anyway it would have helped me not be confused and flipping pages thinking I missed something.

All that being said, it is short, sweet and nice. There are humorous and heartbreaking moments. The characters were easy to follow along. I feel this story would benefit from expanding in the second half of the book.

I have read this author numerous times before and usually love her stories, characters and worlds.

Great paranormal romance, unique, nothing I have read before. I really liked the point of view alternating back and forth between Cathy and Daedriel. They are a sweet couple, Cathy really seems like a wonderful woman and this story just made me feel joy that she gets someone good like Daedriel, she deserves all the good, especially with how she helps Victor and his wife. Watching this couple fight off the dark angel agenda, first with Rask is an adventure, there are so many elements I haven’t seen before, everything blue when it comes to Daedriel, a black tourmaline that has been stolen and a dark angel agenda. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Oh I just loved this one! Being the first in a new series you could tell this was setting us up for some fun books to be had and I for one and here for it. I loved this fun and sweet, and sometimes sassy paranormal, angel lore, romance read. It had some new elements to it that I hadn’t seen before, and hey that is something we don’t see much of lately. I really only have one negative takeaway, and that is it was just so short. This book could have been longer and I would have devoured it happily as I am sure others would have. I really enjoyed this novel from a newer author that I have enjoyed getting to know. This one really snagged my full attention from the very first few pages and had me hooked until that ‘the end’ that I so much wanted but also didn’t want at the same time. This book really pulls from some of the darkest days in our history with slavery and the love story that this author creates with Leon and Penny I promise will captivate you and make you find a shimmer of hope in this dark time. I fell in love with both of them and could appreciate both of their struggles. I was rooting for them to find the way to heal and somehow find love. This was such an amazing read and I cannot wait to see what we will get next!
