~Romance, Intrigue, and Angles~

This is one of my absolute favorite topics, and to see it covered in such an expansive way is such a treat. This definitely isn’t what you would expect at first glance, and has so much to offer. As a reader I found myself quickly immersed into the character’s growth, being able to relate on a really personal level. I love the feeling of getting lost into a good book, and this read was no exception!

The author’s ability to build the world along side the characters is second to none. If you are a fan of angels, a love story, distraction from reality for a bit…this is an excellent choice to pick up. Plus, who doesn’t love a good paranormal romance?!

What a wonderful story! I was fully pulled into the lives of these two main characters. I understood how angry he was and how thankful she became. I enjoyed her growth. Watching them come together is delightful.

This is a new author for me. The story flows well and the characters are very likable. It easily kept my interest.

Fifty shades of the 1800’s!

This standalone steamy story walks the reader through the times of 1864 when slaves were kept as property. I was interested when reading this, to hear a different perspective of person in this setting – not a white, rich person, but not exactly a completely ‘hardshipped’ slave.

It follows Penny (with a very high sex-drive) falling in love with her master Leon Falcon and how they navigate a rocky relationship, with a few twists and hurdles. Although a standalone story, it does leave room for more to be explored in this world, so who knows might come next.

I don’t usually go for historically based novels, but I really enjoyed reading it and feel that it would be a great introduction to this genre of stories!

This is such a great blend of romance, action, and fantasy. I was drawn into the magical world that the author creates from the very first page. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next! I really enjoyed the Norse mythology that was woven throughout. Bernard and Alva are drawn together but something is holding each of them back. They must work together if there’s any hope of saving the Nine Realms. This book is a real page turner that will have you captivated and on the edge of your seat the entire team.

This is such a sweet story. Noah and Mary are brought together in an unconventional way. They are both looking to make a better life for themselves and it looks like the best way to get what they each need is together. It starts out as a business arrangement but feelings begin to develop and it isn’t long before they’re both wishing for more. They just seem to fit together and before long they’ve made a home together. The only question is if they can open up to each other and admit what they both want and feel. This is such a sweet story and shows that love can come in unexpected ways.

This story was difficult to grasp when I started, but once I truly got into it I was not able to put it down. Penny and Leon’s story was one you could not help but fall in love with. It was a beautiful take on this historical era, and the characters left a mark. They cross a threshold in which decisions that are made can’t ever be undone, and it reflects on the depths of love 2 people can share. Its a delicate subject and this author did a great job with the way it was told. This was not just about a plantation owner and a slave, but truly a man and woman in love. There were some deep moments that left an impression, but still that balance of love and steam in-between. I would recommend this book for anyone.

Doctor D’s Orderly Affair by C.A. King is part of the Doctors of Eastport General series– a collaboration by several different authors, each releasing their own story set in Eastport General Hospital. This is Ms. Kings short and sexy addition to the series.
Let’s face it, if I didn’t already love Ms. King’s stories, she would have had me at sexy Doctor. This story is a (novella) tasty snack sized contemporary romance- with the presence of a much larger novel. We meet Doctor D, and follow along as he meets Emily and sparks fly. What happens makes for a fun read.
Now I am excited to check out the other books in this series and see what they have in store for us.

Thank you, C.A. King!

The Billionaire’s Slave is a Historical Romance that once you start reading you won’t want to put it down till you finish. This is a fast paced story packed with some steamy scenes and strong determined characters that brought the story to life. This is a fairly new author to me but I’ve read other books by her but this one is definitely my favorite yet. Penny is a slave who is bought by Falcon (Leon) and she is definitely attracted to him as much as he is to her. He is determined to make her his. These two definitely learn a thing or two from one another. I don’t want to give to much away so I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Im already looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance by Carina Alyce – Review by Alexandria Richard

Wildcat (MetroGen After Hours, #1)Wildcat by Carina Alyce
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Quick sports firefighter reluctant romance read. Lived up to the steamy title description 🔥

4.75 rounded up.

Fairly quick romance read. Definitely has those steamy scenes that make you yearn for more.

There’s 3 POVs in this novel, the FMC, the MMC, and the Chaplain (love his quick chapters and his internal monologue). This novel is set in ‘95 so there is limited technology compared to contemporary romances and I thought the author did a fantastic job with it (it’s like watching Buffy from the beginning all over again and both loving the reminiscence and cringing at it).

Loosely based on the ’95 Cleveland Brown football season. I loved the football references and the background, showing that the author not only did her homework but really understands the game. It’s still easy to read too which isn’t always the case. I really enjoyed reading Trevor’s mentality about his job, his relationship with Leslie, and the difficulties of standing behind a strong woman and supporting her without smothering her.

The ease of reading and understanding also goes for the firefighting aspect. I loved the fact that Leslie is a spitfire and is fighting for her right to be a firefighter in the mid-90s. We see some softer sides of her, such as her dancing background and learning how to open herself to a relationship with Trevor, but overall she is a kick-a$$ woman taking names with no regrets.

At 150 ebook pages, this novel reads fast but leaves you feeling completely satisfied. I will certainly be searching out the other books in this series!

Cw: hazing, violence against women, 90s nostalgia.

This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I’m starting to love historical romance so I thought I would give this book a chance. I’m so happy that I did because I fell in love with all of the characters. This is the first book of the Brides of Broken Arrow and I am now hooked. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story. I can’t wait to read book number two.

Noah’s dad leaves his land to his sons but there is a stipulation in order to keep it. They all have to find a bride and Noah is the oldest so he has to find a bride first. Noah has no idea how to even find a bride until one of his friends tells him about a beautiful girl named Mary. He tells his friend he will do it so he can get the land. Noah picks up Mary and you can see that she has had a hard life. He just wants to stay married for only one year which is what his dad said but will he become attached to Mary?

Bernard and Alva are both brave, intelligent, and troubled heroes, who have lost their families and live their lives far from where they started. Bernard lost his parents and guardians long ago, and his wife and children at Pearl Harbour. Alva’s father died recently, and she is estranged from her mother, the queen, and her sisters because she refuses the practice of killing men to draw energy. Together with the goddess Freyja and other assistants, they defend the Nine Worlds from destruction. Bernard is so gutted about the war and the loss of his family, that he attempts to change the course of history to save them – unwittingly setting into motion a cascade of unintended consequences. As they battle together to right the wrong, they’ll need to use every power and person at their disposal.

I loved these two characters, and how they grew as people through the course of the story. They are flawed, but also courageous, loyal, and and loving. The authour wrote them masterfully. Exciting story and lots of action.

This book was SO GOOD! The author did a really good job in weaving this fantasy crime novel, while making it fun, engaging and hard to put down! I was drawn at first to this cover, it’s absolutely gorgeous, and honestly wasnt sure what to expect but I definitely wasn’t disappointed! The characters were very well written and had a ton of depth to them. They (and the storyline itself) were engaging and I felt like I was right there in the book with them. I have read books from this author before, but this one was so different I was shocked! It felt like reading a completely new author. This book wasn’t disappointing and I highly recommend it!

Not gonna lie. When I first started reading I didn’t think I was going to like the book. I felt uncomfortable mostly because it was a genre I’ve never read before. Being an African American woman I thought, why would I want to read about slavery romanticized? I’m glad I kept reading.

At first I thought the male love interest was grooming the slave to well be a sex slave but watching their encounter develop to an actual relationship he was willing to risk his life and fortune for was intriguing. Penny is a doll. Experiencing her character growth was fantastic.

The intimate parts are great. Like super steamy. Need to douse my eyes with holy water and beg for forgiveness. I will never look at cucumbers or picnics the same again. Definitely detailed. Does contain swearing and topics that may make you uncomfortable. The characters are well developed and the language is spot on. Everything seemed authentic to the time period.
Overall it was an enjoyable book.

This was my first read from this author and I’m definitely excited to read more. From page one I knew I’d sink right into this story and I was right. I found that I simply couldn’t put it down once I got started. There’s plenty of steam and romance but the overall storyline is great to. The characters are complex and relatable making it so easy to picture their world around you. Leslie is a character that you can’t help but root for and connect with. The chemistry between her and Trevor jumped off the pages. The author makes sure you feel this story for a long time. Four big stars and highly recommended!

They could each be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading them in order so you don’t have any questions. The way the author has written the books sets up the next installment beautifully.

This was a quick 4 star read. This novella has me looking forward to the next book in the series.

Dr. D is a pediatrician who is great with his patients and a very sweet man. He has some personal family things that he is dealing with. Emily is a nurse with a big heart, who doesn’t really have time for dating. When these two meet at a bar while out with co-workers there is an instant connection. Can these two make things work? Will they get a HEA?

We get some very hot and steamy moments. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right into the story, although I would have liked to see the ending not so rushed. I really liked the characters and I had some LOL moments. I loved the fish. If you’re looking for a quick fun read, 1-click and get started today.

This is the first time I’ve read anything by this author and I’m glad I took the chance. I have only read a handful of historical romances, but this is the first one that involved a slave and her owner. During those time I’m sure there were masters and slaves that did fall in love and had to hide their affections. Leon Falcon was a great no-nonsense character that did err on the side of being manipulative at times. While I did like Penny, she was nieve to many things, especially how her best friend/owner felt about her. Overall it was a well put together story. It had a great lesson in there and that is the heart wants what it wants. You can’t help who you love.

Doctor D's Orderly AffairDoctor D’s Orderly Affair by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dr. Desmond Danielson has earned himself quite a reputation on the floors of the hospital he works at. He is known as Dr. D…great for one night only. Sure, he has been with quite a few women, but the nickname and the glances from coworkers make him uneasy. However, when he sees a woman at the hospital who doesn’t look at him like a piece of meat, or look at him at all really, he is intrigued.

Emily works hard, studies hard, and doesn’t have time for much else in her life. When the nurses around her start talking about this amazing Dr. D, king of the one night stands, she doesn’t know who they are talking about or believe all the hype. When she has her first encounter with Dr. D…it is not nearly as hot as everyone is expecting it to be. What does surprise her is his interest in her. But, when she gives in, and he is gone the next day, she knows she’s just another notch in his belt. What happens when they meet again down the road?!? (You’ll have to read it to find out).

This is a quick-paced book that is entertaining and grabs the reader’s attention from the beginning. Both characters were enjoyable and I liked how real they were with each other. I am a fan of this author’s other books…and this one did not disappoint. A quick that kept me turning the pages!

Enjoyed romance that was fast paced. Desmond and Emily……the characters were fantastic. Emily is strong, driven, determined and focused as she is an orderly at the hospital working on her nursing degree. Desmond, who really got my heart strings, a great and caring pediatric doctor who is all about his patients…but has a reputation with the ladies….. One night out for Emily to “let loose” she ends up meeting Doctor D in the flesh…. Lots of sizzle and spark between then and I loved every minute. The only complaint I have on this book is that I want more!!! Yes, I am being selfish but would love more of Desmond and Emily’s story to unfold.

Great quick read and highly recommended!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
