This is my first book by this author, and I am so glad I took a chance. Such a super cute, super fun, super sexy story and a great start for this series. Halfway through the story I knew there was more sunshine and rainbows than darkness and angst. However, there seemed to be an underlying current that something bad was going to happen. Was Giuliana going to ruin the chance or was Landon really a jerk in a gentleman’s clothing? Maybe I just read too many dark and stormy romances and I was projecting my fears onto these fun characters. I mean, vacations are supposed to be great right? And a vacation with your best friend in Turks & Caicos even better. Add in a little flirtation with a sexy man and now we have perfection. This story was a fun read and looks to be the start of something really good.
This was such a fun read. The banter was great! I laughed, I blushed! I liked that the best friends felt relatable and like my friendship with my own bestie. And it was a nice escape from my very snowy enviroment!
This is a fun, easy read that will leave you feeling nothing but happy. The characters are wonderful especially Giuliana and Landon. This fantastic author sets such a vivid picture in your mind as your reading that you truly feel like you are there in the beautiful setting and moment in time she has set up. The storyline runs smoothly and keeps you captivated. I can’t wait for more!
The Reluctant Spy by Lois Wickstrom is a fun little children’s chapter book. It’s a little different from most of her other works as it doesn’t contain any illustrations, and yet again, the story is original and imaginative. It is also a much longer story than her picture books, so it’s great for reading a chapter or two at bedtime. This is an intriguing fantasy with a spy adventure element, mystery, action, suspense, a mad scientist, a little danger, a sprinkle of drama, imagination, friendship, loyalty, values, family, investigation, and a little danger. Timmy finds himself on the adventure of a lifetime when he discovers a ‘special’ rat named Hildegarde at his grandmother’s house, then finds himself in the middle of a spy mission to uncover a mad scientist…What happens makes for a fun read. Deceptively Yours is the first book in the Titans of Chicago Series and is a Dark Contemporary Romance with a bit of suspense added in. There are some parts that may be a trigger for some but I promise it’ll be worth pushing through them. I’m not only a huge fan of this author but her Titans of Manhattan wass amazing and I couldn’t wait to dive into this one. I devoured this book in one afternoon because I simply couldn’t put it down I had to know what was going to happen next. Harper and Gabriel have grown up together and have been in love with each other sense a young age. These two are inseparable until tragedy strikes and she’s forced away. Over the years they have both been through things some terrible and some not. Can these two get a second chance at love? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

He thought he was stepping away from club life…but he may be just what this submissive needs.
This was a great story that introduced some aspects of the BDSM culture without being shocking for those who may not know what to expect. Both Ashton and Zach have a chemistry that sizzles…and it was entertaining to read how he helped Ashton find the side of herself that needed to explore. They worked well together in the boardroom and in the bedroom. The secondary characters were also quite enjoyable and I’m hoping they will get books of their own as the series continues.
A great 5 star read. All I can say is wow, what a great start to this series. I was pulled right in and did not want to put it down. Harper and Gabriel take us on a heck of a ride with their story. They grew up together and grew to love each other until betrayal made them enemies. When these two come back together, sparks fly among other things. My emotions were all over the place. I will warn that there are some scenes that could cause triggers for some. Overall I really enjoyed this read. These two about killed me emotionally, but I was happy with how things turned out. I was certainly on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. I can’t wait to read more from this series and author. 1-click and get started today.

This was my first read by Maria Jane and I cannot wait to dive into another of her books. This story is of the trope of coworkers enemies to lovers. One of my favorite romance tropes and she did a good job with it. This one being more on the slow burn side. The characters were well written and sucked you into the story. Even the side characters are likable. You know it is a good read when you want to reach into the pages and shake the characters at times.

I accidentally started with this book instead of the first in the series, but I think it did well as a standalone. I definitely have the urge to pick up the rest of the series now that I’ve finished this one! This was my first book from this author, so I didn’t know what to expect, but I do enjoy a good sports romance story. The flow of the story is wonderful, and I felt pulled into the hockey world with Colby and Gabby. They both feel like very similar (stubborn) people under all the superficial, and I really loved watching their chemistry unfold and grow stronger. The author also has strong knowledge of hockey through and through which really made it more authentic and enjoyable as I absolutely LOVE hockey! I highly recommend picking this up if you love romance, sports, and especially a combination of both. Heading to pick up the rest of the series now!

The story starts where it left off with the first book in the series. I was happy to see the four of them were still together. There is a lot of things going on in the realm that seems scary. There’s a lot more action and crazy stuff happening. You might think it’s all too much but the author does a great job of pulling the story together you won’t want to stop reading. Overall a good dystopian novel that kept my attention. The four main characters might be hurting and conflicted but their relationships sure help them get through those tough times.

The author did a beautiful job of writing about the world and the characters in the book. I definitely felt connected to the four main characters and I could feel the camaraderie between them. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this futuristic realm.

Gabby is a retired figure skater who owns her own business creating costumes for present-day skaters. Gabby hates hockey due to being caught up in an affair with an emotionally unavailable hockey player. However, her best friend, Addie, becomes engaged to a professional hockey player who happens to be friends with that ex-love affair, Colby. Unfortunately, for Gabby and Colby, they were both asked to be the best man and maid of honor in the wedding of their friends. This turns out to be problematic because they can’t get over each other, but also hate each other at the same time. However, being the good friends that they are agree to get along for the wedding. Colby wants to be with Gabby again, at least sexually, so he is always pulling her strings to try and get her to waver. Gabby, while she wants the same thing, knows her heart can’t afford to keep going down that road. As the story goes on, they seem to get better at tolerating each other and sometimes coming to agreements, but there are many obstacles that keep getting in the way of progress. Will the two of them recognize that being in love is not a death sentence and be able to work through their feelings? I enjoyed this book a lot. I like all character, but Gabby and Colby were great. Gabby was a strong, independent, woman looking for a love future. Colby, was a “typical” jock who acted tougher than he really was. The banter Colby and Gabby had was great! But when the story continued, you saw true change occur in Colby and you just wanted to fall in love with him yourself.

This book is a brilliant story and such a fun and intriguing read. I loved the world that the author portrayed in the book and how realistic and vivid it felt. I have never been to New Orleans but so many times I could easily picture what was being described. The characters in the book were all so interesting to read. They fit the story perfectly and they easily kept interest the whole way through. The story was fast paced and action packed. Watching the character navigate the obstacles and try to break the curse was fantastic and I could have read about more of their adventures. This is a great addition to the series and I am looking forward to reading more.

This book is a fun, contemporary sports romance that has truly enjoyable characters right at the heart of the story. I loved Piper and Bax and watching their story unfold. They had such a fun feel about them but also had a connection that is strong and deep. There was more emotion behind them that I expected which I think made me engage with them even more. This is an author that I always enjoy and this book is an example of why. Her characters are always engaging and stories well written. I find it so easy to get into one of her books and this one is no exception. As the second book in the series, this promises to be a really great one to read.

Magic Wanda is the third book in Grandma’s Closet. This is a fun children’s book that is aimed for children ages 4-8 but any child can enjoy this super fun story. My five year olds imagination took off as soon as I started reading and the colorful illustrations brought the story to life. We read the story as is the first time and then my son wanted to read it and what an adventure we went on. We love this author and her fun stories that teach important lessons. We look forward to reading more from this Author and probably this story many more times.
This one made me smile! The rhyming was done much better so the story flowed along. We meet another new friend of Cray’s who lies so he won’t get into trouble. The meaning behind the cute story in here is clear. I can’t say enough good things about the illustrations! Each page is a delight to look at. I look forward to more adventures and life lessons from Cray.

Set in New Orleans and amongst the mysterious streets of The Big Easy, this ghostly supernatural adventure had me hooked throughout. Juliet has her dream job as a pastry chef in the French Quarter, but when a food critic chokes on a traditional baby trinket in one of her ‘King Cake’s’ she looses her job. She finds herself going on a supernatural adventure looking for long lost treasure with infamous buccaneer Jean Lafitte. Juliet is forced to team up with the buccaneer known as the ‘Terror of the Gulf Coast’ and needs to quickly decide if she can trust him. Juliet is soon searching the haunted streets of New Orleans and getting help from local ghostly legends along the way. They only have two weeks to find the jewels and break the treasures curse. I found Juliet to be likeable and relatable whilst Jean Lafitte is a quirky character who you don’t know whether he’s trustworthy or not. I enjoyed the adventures the pair went on during their quest and the against the clock element kept the suspense high. The Big Easy setting was brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative, making me feel fully immersed in the story.

This is a really interesting contemporary romance. It was full of touching scenes, humour and a little bit of drama that makes me keep reading more. I love how the author tells the story from the point of view of both our MCs. It gives the reader a more complete understanding on what the characters are thinking and feeling and also make their reactions make more sense.
Declan and Mira have had a strained relationship from the start. Mira was sure that Declan hated her whereas Declan was just confused about why he was feeling certain things around her. Fast forward and Mira is now hired in Declan’s company. However the tension is still their between them and Mira doesn’t understand what’s caused it. As the story progresses Declan finds himself in a compromising position and he could lose it all if Mira decides to make a complaint. But she sees this as her opportunity and she promises it will go no further if he helps her progress her career. If only that was where the story ends. At the same time all this is going on Mira is having doubts about her relationship with her partner who doesn’t seem ready to commit and move the relationship forward. Could Declan actually be the guy she is looking for? This is a sweet story and I loved how eventually as Mira gets to know Declan better she understands his behaviour and his quirks and what she realises really surprises her. This was a really enjoyable read and I can’t wait to more from this author.

This was a fast read even though it’s the type of story I wouldn’t usually read. I did enjoy that the writer described real issues women especially women of other ethnicities face in work settings. Deceptively Yours by Anise Storm is book one in the Titans of Chicago series. The story is full of some heavy content and should be taken into consideration if one is sensitive to certain topics. I enjoyed this second chance romance between Harper and Gabriel but I will admit I found myself cringing multiple times at Gabe and his behavior. While the pair have history, they haven’t seen one another in years and when they do Gabriel is quick to make it known he’s not happy to see her. But all the more happy to jump into bed. I also was definitely not a fan of how he treated her seemingly like garbage after all of the things that happen to Harper in this book. Just, woah. That said, it was clear when they were teenagers that they were “it” for one another and though Harper has come back in an effort to try and save Gabriel from harm, it is clear there is still pent up anger. Will this pair be able to see beyond their past to help one another? I will definitely be reading others from this author.

Dancing Butterfly was different. Not what I come to expect from this author. Did the story have romance and passion, sure. However it was more of a woman’s path to self discovery. The romance and passion was second fiddle and maybe not so genuine. Who was she? What does she want out of life? Those kinds of questions surround the character throughout this story. Suki was independent, at least she thought she was. Refusing to go through life like her mother depending on a man. However when she finally met and spoke with Frank that’s exactly the woman she had become. Going stir crazy due to a broken ankle being a moll to a made man wasn’t easy. It was very demanding and she lacked that independence she once craved. One trip to Miami gave her hope. Gave her the hope that she could leave the life of the moll behind. But does she? The author has you rooting for Suki to find her way again. However the turmoil she goes through along the way is sad, however gives the reader hope she will turn it around. It keeps you turning the page because you’re hoping on the next page she’s back. I enjoy this author and look forward to more books in the future.
What a fun read!! The Curse of Jean Lafitte is part of The Big Easy Collection…and I found myself just engrossed in a world of adventure, mystery, supernatural, myth, ghosts and intrigue. The appreciation I have this author and her research are top notch, and it makes me want to visit New Orleans one day!
Juliet’s world comes crumbling down after getting fired from her pastry job that she loved…but winding up meeting the famous Captain Jean Lafitte who needs her help! I have become such a fan of C. A. King so I was excited for this one; Curse of the Forbidden Island did not disappoint. Although it is a very quick, short read, there is still the same great world building I have come to expect from C. A. King. I could see the waves breaking on the sand, feel the heat from the sun, and felt the cool night breeze on my face. This paranormal romance is different from others I have read, but it’s precisely why it stands out to me. There was mystery, hints of ancient curses, steamy interludes, and a touch of the paranormal. I was kept guessing to the very end, which came way too soon for me, but enjoyed it nonetheless. Selene was a character I connected with from the start. Her luck is nothing but bad until she takes the job on the mysterious, yet intriguing, Forbidden Island. Great read by C. A. King!

As a lover of history, this story was absolutely right up my alley. I thought the author did a great job of creating a historical fiction novel that was incredibly well written and researched. You absolutely feel like you back in the early 1800’s as our country is still finding its footing within the rest of the world. The author has created complex and well developed characters in Jed and Hannah. You absolutely will not want to put this book down until you have finished the very last page. The author definitely created a vivid and detailed story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
