Relic Hunters: Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters, #4)Blood of the Dragon by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book had its own unique twists and turns. Again, stepping back to a real life time in history, these characters do their thing. Little do they know, they are chasing more trouble for themselves than thought possible. With the relic hunters on the defense, this book is exciting, crazy, and very fun to read.

Super fun read! I’m not a big history buff, but relating back to Hitler was extremely interesting to read about. These wonderful characters being put into real life scenarios is crazy and a lot of fun! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Very fun. Fun to read about the group being brought in as a group, working together again. This book puts their team against other teams who are trying to reach the same goal. Twists and turns promised, adventure like no other, and fun characters that you can relate too.

Elusive Surrender (Sinful Duets Book 3) by Via Mari – Review by Manda Kelly

Elusive Surrender (Sinful Duets #3)Elusive Surrender by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy wow. So much to unpack in this, but without giving anything away… Lets just do this. First, while this is the 3rd in the Sinful Duets, you can read it alone, but you really should read the other 2, so you get all the backstory. It really helps to understand the stories better, plus, they’re just really good… Also, if you LOVE broody men and sassy women, you’re gonna love these stories. Our ladies are smart and sassy, and our men are fierce and strong and PROTECTIVE.. (and SEXY) but shhh, I didn’t say that. **wink** Anyway. You’re not going to want to miss this book *or the other 2*.
They are full of all the feels. All the emotions. Lots of suspense, a little human trafficking, some BDSM… I mean, if you’re not into that stuff, you may not like these stories as much, but it’s not like hard core, so maybe just be forewarned, they’re in the story before you give it a go.

Carter, former political figure, now slinging brews in a brewery. He meets the local librarian, Sunny, and her grandfather. There are people out there that would like to ruin what Carter has going, but he wants to stop them before everything is lost. Sunny could be helpful IF she gets on board with his crazy plan. Of course, she gets to use him to make her true love jealous by fake dating him. The only thing is that as they spend more time together his feelings start to become real. Will Sunny reciprocate his feelings or will she leave him behind? This series doesn’t have to be read in order even though the books do intertwine a little. I enjoyed this story and reading about this family. Each story brought something a little different, but the author did a great job bringing the characters to life. They were also very relatable.

Portrait of Deception (A Southwest Suspense Novel) by Kathryn Dodson – Review by Manda Kelly

Portrait of Deception (A Southwest Suspense Novel)Portrait of Deception by Kathryn Dodson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wowza. Talk about plot twists and action packed stories. I didn’t realize this was the 2nd book in a series, but I don’t feel like I missed out on anything by not having read the 1st book. Also, for me, this story did seem to maybe drag on a bit at times, but the action and all the things in the other parts of the story sure made up for it… By the end of the book I was on the edge of my seat and I didn’t want to put it down.
If you love a great suspense romance thriller, you wont wanna miss this one. Kathryn Dodson has absolutely got a new fan, and I cannot wait to read more of her work!!!

It has been a while since her husband passed away and Ashton is still trying to find herself. She has a side to her that rarely, if ever, gets to see the light of day. When she applies for a membership at the club Shatteres Embrace she didn’t expect to see Zachary there. Not only is he her best friends brother but her new boss. He should be off-limits but how can she turn down what he is offering? I enjoyed this book and the characters were likeable. The story flowed fairly well and was easy to read. I look forward to seeing what the next book in the series has to offer.

Fuller Sight is a metaphysical novel. Much of the book takes place outside of time as we know it. Danny Anderson is an 18-year-old young man who has decided that he needs to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the girl he loves from throwing away her dreams of becoming a doctor. He kills himself by running his father’s car into a bridge’s concrete abutment.
Upon his death he meets his mother, Nora Anderson, who died nine years earlier. She is his guide for the remainder of the book, helping him review and better understand himself and those around him.
As he reviews his life, we gain a better understanding of his father, brother, and the Nigerian American family across the street who became a second family after his mother died in an automobile accident. We especially become acquainted with that family’s daughter and Danny’s best friend, Sadé Okoro. Their friendship becomes mildly romantic to the point of Sadé expressing her dream of going to college together which Danny believes is financially out of reach.
In any case, her university plans with Danny are abruptly shunted when she witnesses a drunken Mitchell Anderson violently slap Danny on the 9th anniversary of Nora’s death. Sadé takes Danny to be tended to by her mother, Ezzine Okoro. Danny experiences complete memory loss due to his father’s blow.
That night, Mitchell dies in his sleep due to an accidental overdose accompanied by liquor. The next day Mitchell is discovered dead in his bed and the death is deemed suspicious. Circumstantial evidence along with a violent scene the day before makes Danny a person of interest.
Sadé is convinced of Danny’s innocence but Danny has less trust in himself than she has in him. She determines to tell the police she was the one responsible, reasoning that if the detectives have more than one suspect then their theory of the case would be so weakened that they wouldn’t be able to charge Danny.
All throughout this story, Nora and Danny see all of this as well as the fuller view. They come to understand the karmic life lessons and how the greater community, both living and dead, are all on a path to grow, learn, and love each other. No one is excluded in the greater community, not even those who think and do their worst.
This same process continues as Nora guides Danny through previous lives as the son of South Carolina plantation owners in 1775; as a blind beggar and former commander of the royal guard in the Gorkha Kingdom (near Tibet and India) in 1680; as a monk and former heir to an English nobleman in 1349; as a widow and spy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1780; as an observer of Danny’s grandmother when she was a suffragette in Washington DC in 1917; and finally back observing his father’s actions in 1971.

Nothing anyone said in the daylight was going to change a thing. The fact remained: what happened at night was real enough to change things forever.
It was always the same: a warm night, a scream of desire on the wind, the pounding of the ocean waves. Yeah, about as cliché as it got. Knowing that didn’t make it any less real. When there was a mystery afoot, she was there searching for answers.
They weren’t fooling anyone. It was obvious the six owners of the resort were masquerading as Casanovas. That was the reason for all her snooping around: she was going to figure out exactly what was happening on the island, if she had to rip one mask off of them at a time.
In retrospect, maybe she wanted to keep her job instead of playing detective.

About C.A. King

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you differently.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

Fast forward to today…

Hidden Mischief (Shattered Embrace Series Book #1) by Alyndra Quinn – Review by Angela Hayes

Hidden Mischief (Shattered Embrace #1)Hidden Mischief by Alyndra Quinn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars

‘This is going to be such a long meeting. Time to pull it together. Fast. I have a job to do. And no time in my life for lusting over authoritative siblings of my friends.’

Hidden Mischief is the first book in the Shattered Embrace series by Alyndra Quinn. This also appears to be Ms. Quinn’s debut novel- so I was curious to see what lay between these covers. The blurb certainly engaged my curiosity to want to find out what lay under these covers- but as a debut novel, could Ms. Quinn deliver on the promises held in the blurb? Well, I am happy to say that she does indeed deliver a captivating story that held my attention the whole way through. There were a few minor issues that I popped up here and there- but nothing that detracted any from my overall enjoyment of the story.
We meet Ashton as she applies to join an exclusive BDSM club, Shattered Embrace, and there is definitely a bit of a mysteriousness about her. I immediately wanted to know her and find out what drew her to the club scene, and what happened in her past to make her feel she had to ‘retire’ from the scene. Add in the fact that her best friend, who is a Dom, didn’t know she was a sub- and I was pretty much hooked. Then Zachery enters the scene- and yep, he delivers all the Alpha-sexiness, so I am all-in! Chemistry sizzles and sparks ignite- which results in a slowwww-burn that gives off some intense heat. This story is made even more intriguing by the fact that Ashton doesn’t realise until it’s too late, that the CEO of the company she has just been hired to consult for, is also the head of the BDSM club she has just applied to….awkward much. And he’s also her best friend’s brother- ummmm, doubly awkward. So if you love Dom/sub stories, a little mysteriousness, sizzle, and great characters, then you will definitely want to get you hands on a copy of this book to explore.
This is a steamy, opposites attract contemporary romance with a best friend’s brother element, tension, palpable chemistry, banter, a BDSM club, Dom/sub dynamics, Alpha type male, protective MC, a strong independent yet submissive FMC, friendship, slow burn romance, spicey encounters, humour, secrets, emotion, drama, and intriguing developments- which made for an engrossing read.
I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this book to be honest, and I certainly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did- but after reading this, I immediately added Ms. Quinn to my ‘must read’ author list – and I am excited to see what the rest of the series contains.
So, bring on Book #2!
Happy Reading…

Thank You, Alyndra Quinn!

Miller may be the one to always mess up in his family, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love them. I’m not 100% sure he goes looking for trouble, I think it finds him. When he first meets Maisy she accidentally gets into his car while trying to escape her courthouse wedding. Why is she running? For that answer you will have to read the book and fall in love with the characters as I did. Even if you have ups and downs, at the end of the day family is family whether they are blood or not. It has been fun reading about the Brooks family and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Good Enough (The Deadman's Tribe #1)Good Enough by Nicole Craig
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Good Enough is the first book in the Deadman’s Tribe series by Nicole Craig. It follows film director Kai and her Navy SEAL consultant Waters as they work to film an action movie. As things heat up between them, family secrets are opened up and things get dangerous. This book has it all – a sassy, independent female lead, spice, and engaging story line. It was an intriguing opening to a new series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Deja Brew is the first book I read in the Love on Tap series and I really enjoyed it. Deja Brew is about Miller and Maisy, the runaway bride. The characters were charming, realistic, and well developed and the scenes were realistic as well. I laughed out loud at the banter throughout the novel and enjoyed how the novel progressed into a beautiful story about family and the lengths you will go to for love and family. I thought the combination of mystery, comedy, drama, and romance made for a really entertaining, enjoyable read. I am planning on going back to the beginning of the series and read the previous books.

Deja Brew All Over Again: A Runaway Bride Romance (Love on Tap Book 3)

I love each of the Brooks boys but think Miller may be my favorite of the four boys. He is definitely the brother I would have gone for when I was young. Sometimes the bad boy is the best boy.

I loved every moment of this book. From the beginning when Miller and Maisy meet to getting to know her and Bear and everything else that happens.

Lots of fun laugh out loud moments but there were some pretty serious moments too that kept my mind racing.

I can’t recommend this book enough, it can be read independently but seriously suggest you read the first two before diving it. Think it will help you understand Miller a little bit better.

⭐️⭐️⭐⭐ Book Review

Resisting Nature by Brooke May is the fourth installment of the Powder River Pack series. This paranormal romance will send you on a thrilling ride. I am not much into werewolf style novels but this one piqued my interest. May’s writing style kept my attention. Her characters were interesting, despite the werewolf situation, relatable, and likable. Her story line flowed well and kept you wanting more. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys this type of novel. I will definitely seek out other novels written by May.

Relic Hunters: Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Melissa Saxton

Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Book 5)Betrayal of the Gods by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 5 in a series, and I admittedly started with this book and wasn’t confused totally can be done as a standalone.
Join Matt and Adam in adventures across timelines and povs there is historical fiction and fantasy while exploring Greek heros, several famous lost cities and battles alike! This author expertly weaves his tale with great attention to detail and characters making you instantly invested. The timelines and pov changes frequently but the start of each chapter is labeled with a character and the “when” of what’s happening. The chapters are also mercifully shorter allowing you to capture things in small snippets but getting great detail and world building so both YA readers and Adults can BOTH enjoy this series. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am totally in!!! House Valdis Origins: Xenobia is the beginning…short story..and introduces Xenobia and the society she is living in. I loved this story as it gives me want and need to continue this series and I am super excited to start the next book in the series. The creativity and storytelling that this author brings to the table still amazes me as I enjoy every book I have read from her.

Xenobia, a beautiful blue wonder, stays to herself, trying not to bring any spotlight to her, which would keep her safe. When Xenobia has a new roommate in Urd, she never wanted to develop any friendships, but something in Urd bring Xenobia’s walls down and they become close friends. When some very bad men have their eyes on Urd…Xenobia tries to protect her at all costs. Going from protecting Urd to something greater, Xenobia learns there is more to her then we know….

Looking forward to the next book in the series, I have to learn more about Xenobia and what will happen next!! Fantastic story!!

Group Hug by Ariella Talix – Review by Jamie Truex

Group HugGroup Hug by Ariella Talix
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! Who knew posting for a roommate would turn into a steamy romance?! Besides the love story, there is more to this book as well. I fell in love with the characters almost from the beginning. Weston needs a roommate to help cover the costs on his newly inherited house. What he doesn’t expect is two roommates or being attracted to them both! Petra and Callum are both very lovable characters. There so much more I want to know about all three of them. I really enjoyed how this wasn’t just a mmf romance book. There’s much more of a plot then I first imagined and I will be looking for more books by this author. Highly recommend this book!

A Miracle In Muffin: A True Story by Darlene Duemo – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

A Miracle In Muffin: A True StoryA Miracle In Muffin: A True Story by Darlene Duemo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wonderful, wholesome true story by Darlene…A Miracle in Muffin is a Christian children’s book that is for ages 6-18, but I believe you can enjoy this story at any age. Putting faith in God is where Darlene turns when her cat, Muffin, goes missing on a cold night. Through the power of prayer and time, miracles can happen.

This is truly a wonderful story and the illustrations are wonderful…it definitely lifted my spirits up and I recommend this as a must read. Just truly wonderful.

Deja Brew All Over Again: A Runaway Bride Romance (Love on Tap Series) by Sylvie Stewart – Review by Felicia Bates

Deja Brew All Over Again: A Runaway Bride RomanceDeja Brew All Over Again: A Runaway Bride Romance by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sylvie Stewart is not a new author to me but I have not read any of her Love on Tap novels. Deja Brew All Over Again was a reminder of why I fell in love with this author’s writing years ago. The characters have excellent energy the second the first word hits the page and it really grabs your attention from the start. The book had me smiling on several occassions and I dreaded having to put the book down. Having never read this series before, I didn’t have any prior knowledge of the “side characters” that likely weave between storylines but this didn’t impact my ability to follow along Miller and Maisy’s story. I had a lot of fun reading this book and look forward to catching up on the other books in this series.

Kingdom of the Oceans (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Kingdom of the Oceans (Relic Hunters Book 6)Kingdom of the Oceans by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this whole series and its sad to know this is the last one. These books are great together or by themselves but now enjoyable when you read them in order. As just like with the others in this series, this is a fantastic young adult action-adventure with wonderful characters, treasure hunting, the quest for Atlantis, historical details, mythology, drama, mystery, danger, investigation, tension, an intriguing & complex plot, high stakes, and a race against time and so much more. I couldn’t get enough of these books they kept me intrigued and wanting more. The tales of the past in the story really brings together the quests and the history of what the relic hunters are ding. Adam and Matt are at it again but this time for the hunt to find Atlantis. This is a great series and I highly suggest reading it even if you’re not a young adult.

Relic Hunters: Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Santana Hicks

Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters, #4)Blood of the Dragon by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Vlad the Impaler or Vladislav Dracula as he was called back in the day, was known as a brutal ruler and said to be a vampire. But vampires aren’t real, right?

Adam and his crew are back at it again, this time to Romania to check out Poenari Castle, also known as Castle Dracula. A professor who is friends with Charles found papers that were said to be owned by a scholar who disappeared after investigating the castle in 1967. The British Museum crew are told to go with the professor to protect her while she looks for hidden secrets. A goblet with a dragon on it is found and that’s when all hell breaks loose. They are being hunted by Winterbourne, the military and now vampires!? One by one they are turned except for Adam and it is once again up to him to save his team. Can he do it all alone?

Meanwhile we get a glimpse into Vlad’s past and how he became the ruthless man he is known to be.

This is the 4th installment of the ‘Relic Hunters’ series and so far, it’s my favourite. I love stories of vampires and shifters and anything fantasy so I was excited to have that as the main theme this time around. Martin Ferguson has a way with words and will make you invested in all the characters right from the get go. Time to read book 5!

Eagle of the Empire (Relic Hunters) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Eagle of the Empire (Relic Hunters, #1)Eagle of the Empire by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an incredible book, I really enjoyed and love the fact that it is series, which I can not wait to get into the rest. This book went and back and forth between past and present which gave it a nice back story on the events and what was happening before. the history that weaved into the story really brings a different perspective to this story. Matt and Adam are far from your ordinary boys, they are relic hunters, and this story takes us to Rome, but they aren’t the only ones on the hunt. The adventure these boys go thou shows to them a lot of growth and that they can accomplish anything. This book was filled with action, supernatural, history, suspense and so much more. Highly recommend this book.

Relic Hunters: Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Shea Gilkerson

Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Book 5)Betrayal of the Gods by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Relic Hunters book 5 is amazing, and I’m immediately going back to book 1. I love Greek mythology, the smooth transitions between past and present, Adam and Matt and the world that has been built and shared in this book. I was fully engrossed and didn’t feel confused about anything, but I did feel curious and interested in getting more engrossed in this world.

Adam and Matt are on the most important quest so far, and journey through Troy, deal with tragedies and Greek heroes, and a world full of wonderful characters. In the midst of all of this, they are on the run and being hunted as criminals themselves. The cover art drew my original attention, the summary made me interested, and reading the actual story has made me a fan. I can see these books even piquing the interest of non readers.

This one kept me turning pages. Simply a wonderful addition to the series. You would think the by book 9 things would be getting stale but..Nope! This is just as engaging at the beginning of the series. I loved how much this incorporated the characters from past books because it is always nice to see them.

Curse of the Sands (Relic Hunters Book 2) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Curse of the Sands (Relic Hunters, #2)Curse of the Sands by Martin Ferguson

This is book 2 of the series, and so far, I have no complaints. This book was an amazing read, and I couldn’t read it fast enough it was incredible. This book is supernatural and history all in one. I would highly recommend this is you like suspense, action, supernatural and then a little of history all rolled into one. With the discovery of a pyramid in Egypt, with all the traps inside the pyramid it’s nearly impossible to get into tit. But this doesn’t stop the relic hunters and they set out to discover the secret a why it was just discovered now, and why all the traps what this pyramid could be hiding. This book follows two timelines but is incredible with the back-and-forth feedback and insight, I really like this part of the books.
