A wonderful read. I felt that these two were totally misunderstood and mismatched at first. They kind of grew on you as they story went along It’s a quick read and a sweet story overall. I loved the writing and the characters. The contemporary feel and POV was refreshing. Cade is a total cad. I enjoy this author’s books and she writes books that feel so real and very modern.

Murder At Music Hall (A True North Murder Mystery Book 1)Murder At Music Hall by A. J. Ullman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a really good start to a new mystery series. This author does it again. He writes some amazing mysteries that have a dark feel to them. This is a story that has that feel of suspense and mystery. I sat down to start it and finished it fairly quick with a few interruptions from life. I didn’t want to put it down. The bit interruptions in this story are the rich high and mighty. It’s funny how they always insert themselves in the way. This is a story that will grab you right from the get go and you won’t be able to put it down until you are done.

This author does such a fantastic job with her writing. I can always tell that she does her research. This was the 20’s and the time of Capone. Suki is a showgirl and pretty independent. Unfortunately, a raid comes and she is forced to pretend to be a moll. Her struggle is real and she can get through this. It’s an interesting read full of drama, intrigue, and romance. I enjoyed this. It’s an exciting read and an entertaining series.

Emily is a detective who has worked hard to get to where she is. But despite that, there are people on the force who are not her friends. When she finds a big case that could make her career, she enlists Cutter, the SAA, for a local MC. But it has to be underwraps. This is a DDLG dynamic, and if that is your thing, this is definitely for you. As a reader who prefers a full plot with a little spice vs. all spice and little plot, this wasn’t my favorite. The conversations between characters were sometimes written in a way that didn’t sound like how people actually talk to each other, and I found that pulling me out. All in all, if this is the type of trope and dynamic you’re into, this is for you.

Delayed Redemption (The DAG Team Series) by Kel O’Connor – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

Mateo is the body guard of a top drug lord. He is desperately trying to leave this world behind. However He runs into an old female “friend”, named Janey. She is a little bit older than him but doesn’t know the dangers that surround him as well as she thinks she does. Can Mateo leave the gang life and be okay with working for a government agency? Can Janey look past Mateo’s old life that she knows all to well and be able to spend the rest of her life with him? These are questions that I am asking myself as I continue to read this book. This is the first time that I have read a book by this author and I am hoping that it won’t be my last.

Hidden Mischief (Shattered Embrace Series) by Alyndra Quinn – Review by Barbara Bohls

Hidden Mischief (Shattered Embrace #1)Hidden Mischief by Alyndra Quinn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the beginning of a series and the first book that I have read from this author. The way the book is described had me ready to sit down with a blanket and coffee to enjoy it. I was able to get into the story right away. The characters were amazingly written and had the growth that I love in stories. The author was able to descriptively write about the scenes and the characters to where I felt like I really understood them and was able to fully picture their surroundings. The spice level in this book I thought was decent. However, with the inclusion of BDSM, I really thought that the spice would be page melting and way more intense. This would be a great starting place for someone who is dipping their toes into reading BDSM. It shows some great things but doesn’t overwhelm the reader. I love the rediscovering that the main female character is doing. It really shows that no matter what you go through or where life takes you, you can alway go back to your roots. If you are looking for a book to take your mind off of things and it was a quick read. This book would be for you. If you are looking to get into the darker side of romance this would be a great way to dip your toes into the BDSM world. I can’t wait to read more from this author and continue this series.

Me and my daughter really enjoyed this book. Each story has a different lesson behind it. Bounce back was great, learning that it’s okay to make mistakes, but if you try again you will succeed. Beautiful Differences, Sasha learns that all her friends are from all over the world. How different cultures around the world are, different foods. But there’s always something from a country that links sasha and her friends together. Just relax, Percy tells Sasha that she just needs to take a break. We learn that it’s okay not to go into overdrive and just keep going with everything, it’s okay to take a break and just relax before going to do what needs to be done.<br />Each chapter was so beautifully written. Everyone needs to read this book!

Dirty Heartbreaker (Hamilton Steelhawks Series) by A. C. Sheppard – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

Dirty Heartbreaker: Hamilton Steelhawks Book 3Dirty Heartbreaker: Hamilton Steelhawks Book 3 by A C Sheppard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dirty Heartbreaker is book three in the Hamilton Steelhawks Series. You CAN read this as a stand alone (that’s what I originally did), but I honestly suggest starting at the beginning and grabbing them all in order. I can’t wait to read the others myself. This type of Sports Romance isn’t new to me, but I don’t know much about hokey or skating. That didn’t cause any problems for me though. I really enjoyed the love hate relationship between the characters. This book in the series is about Colby and Gabriella’s entanglement and boy oh boy is it a sizzling story. Gabby’s best friend is getting married. She is maid of honor and is helping not only with the wedding, but also making the wedding gown. She’s a former ice skater turned business women. She is determined to make her friend’s wedding the best it can be with the least about of issues possible. Only issue there is that the groom’s best man also happens to be a hockey player that she’s hooked up with in the past. He ignites her at every turn. She has to stay away from him, but how when they have to help with the wedding. Thrust together for wedding prep has them all hot and bothered and of course fighting with sparks flying everywhere. Can these to be adults, put their differences aside, and put their friends big day first? Or will they ruin it all igniting the fires within them both. You have got to try this one out if you like romances. If you aren’t sure because it’s a sports romance let me tell you!! Put that aside and try it out anyways! You will be so glad that you did! This book was cute, steamy, funny, and of course bursting with romance. Don’t let the sport scare you off!! I’d definitely recommend this book to romance lovers of all kinds!

Deceptively Yours (Titans of Chicago Series) by Anise Storm – Review by Barbara Bohls

Deceptively Yours (Titans of Chicago, #1)Deceptively Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This isn’t the first book that I have read from this author. I will say that every time I read one of her books, I am just thrown by how well written they are. This book was one that I didn’t put down until I finished it. I had to see what was going to happen. The push and pull between the characters and the way the storyline just comes to life right off the pages. I am in love with everything in the book. The steam was just the right amount, the anger between the characters, the push and pull, the childhood friends, and the tragedy that happened. This book has it all. I couldn’t stop turning the pages, I was drawn into the book that I was feeling everything the characters were feeling. I was getting mad at my husband for even speaking to me. lol. I was completely irrational but I loved every second of it. If you want a book to give you all the feels this is one of them. This also could very well be, one of the top reads for the year so far. I can’t say enough about this book without giving spoilers. Just read it and you will love it as much as I do.

Curse of Forbidden IslandCurse of Forbidden Island by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a really quick read and it was definitely steamy. I am giving this book 5 stars because it has great characters and builds an amazing setting. I found that was able to sit down and just read the book without having to stop or pause because of something in the book. I did however, feel that the book was a bit rushed or I felt it was lacking more. Maybe the best way to put it is, that I wish it was longer so it could expand on everything in the book. So lacking isn’t really the word just I needed more. It does have everything it needs to feel complete. I was still really happy with the book. Don’t let my need for more be what sways you from reading it. It is really good and you will feel yourself swoon when you need to and even blush. If you are looking for a quick escape this would be a great book for that. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Harper is just trying to set things right after her life goes to hell when her parents die and she is sent to live with her uncle. 10 years later, she is back to try and tell Gabriel, the love that she never gave up on, that he’s in danger. There is so much going on. The action, drama, steam, romance, and so much more makes this a fantastic beginning to the Titans of Chicago series. I couldn’t put this down once I started. I’m looking forward to more from this batch of titans.

Fade into the Night (Philly Heat Series) by Becky Flade – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book #5 of the Philly Heat Series. This is the first time I have read from this author. I could not put this book down. FBI Special Agent Noah Danes is trying to catch a serial killer. The investigation leads him to an old friend, named Sadie Potter, who is a Forensic Facial Reconstructionist. The last time they saw each other they got together but that was four years ago. They rekindled their relationship but before they could really dive into it, Sadie is attacked by the serial killer (The Beltway Romeo). Can Noah keep Sadie safe and still have a relationship with her? I think you need to read it to find out for yourself.

This book gives you a look into the interesting world of BDSM. It also contains DDMG play, which personally I could take it or leave it. The chemistry between Cutter and Emily was off the charts, there is no doubt about that. Cutter is a Daddy Dom, while Emily is a middle. If you like dom/sub type books them I recommend giving this book a try.

Murder off Route 82 Audio Book (Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen – Review by Shelly Kittell

4/5 stars

This is one of my favorite authors. She has a way of writing that draws you in and keeps you there until the very end. I find that I enjoy this series because it feels like a down home country cozy but its not. I loved how out couple (unintentional) work together to find Sallie Mae. The description of Snake Mountain from the guy at the gas station would have given me nightmares along with her dreams. Such vivid details in the story that are brought to life by the narrator in the story. Audio brings so much to life that you do kind of miss just reading in the book. The narrator did a nice job. I loved the story and characters. It’s a fantastic series that I definitely recommend.

If you have read the first two books that will help enhance the story even more. It’s thrilling, full of drama, and romance. An enjoyable read that I recommend.

There are beautiful prayers and poems in the book. It’s a very neat story that can be shared with all to help in times of trouble or anguish or to even help bring people to God. It was a definite light in my reading.

Master Calabrea: Dark Vampire Romance (Masters of the Consulate Book 6)Master Calabrea: Dark Vampire Romance by Sylvia Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is quite the romantic suspense with your paranormal twist to it. Master Calabrea is a Vampire in the consulate. Tansia has come to help her cousin, Embry, and get her life back on track. She gets involved in the local club life. If you have followed the series, you know that you have the mafia, vamps, weres, and witches. The hunt is still on for Isala. Love is in the air for Tansia and Calabrea. The question is can Calabrea tame Tansia. She’s a pretty independent buttkicker. She proves she can take care of herself. She does know what she wants though… MMM, can’t tell but you should read. This author puts a story together that has you feeling like you are righter there in the story. Old friends and new friends appear. There is a cliffhanger! Can’t wait for the next Master in the series. I’ve read them all so far and she’s one of my favorites. A series that will have you wanting more.
