Hot For Me (The Balefire Series Book 4) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Barbara Bohls

Hot For Me (Balefire, #4)Hot For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazing!! I love a good rock star genre book and this one did not disappoint. This book is really well written and it almost make you feel as if you are part of the stage crew. You will feel like a fly on the wall during some of the dialogue with the main characters. What could happen when the leading female is invited to open for the leading male character? The characters deal with real life issues and they lean on each other to overcome traumatic events that have happened in the past. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming in this book. That in mind it does have some steam but it also has a great story line that you will feel yourself getting worked up and emotional when they characters get emotional. This happens to be the 4th book in the series but each can be read as a stand alone. I have not read the others in this series but if they are written the way this one is, I will be reading them shortly. I love series that follow the characters and you get glimpses of the other characters in each book. It makes it feel like I am becoming friends with the characters. This book kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen, was the last going to destroy what neither of the characters had saw coming which is falling in love. Does the leading female run when things get tough and the leading man get his heart broken or do they work together to figure things out. You will have to read this book to figure it out. You won’t be disappointed when you do.

Deadly Intentions by Anise Storm – Review by Barbara Bohls

Deadly IntentionsDeadly Intentions by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book started with steam right out the gate. It has everything that you would expect from a dark romance with mafia. The FMC was set out for revenge and found a lot more than that. The MMC is your typical broody mafia guy with a chip on his shoulder concerning his dad. He also has a huge heart and even though he is seeking a revenge of his own he is always wanting what is right for the FMC. Even if that means going through some things. It is the “I will do what is best for you even if it kills me,” type of vibe. It has page turning adventure and twists that you don’t really see coming but once they are there, you wonder why you didn’t think about that to begin with. The steam is there and it is intense at times but it doesn’t deter from the story line. It enhances the love that you feel growing between that characters. I highly suggest reading this book for some steamy, twisted, traumatic, adventurous fun. It is a page turner that you won’t want to put down.

~ Forbidden Love Space Romance ~

This is the first book in what I am hoping is going to be a series. If you are looking for a quick, steamy romance, that has a flair of uniqueness to it then you’ve found the right book. The author quickly jumps into the storyline and carries you through what feels like a short-film centered around two moon-princesses. There hasn’t quite been a book like this before, so it was easy to really appreciate the storyline.

The two moon-princess sisters are definitely head-strong, very compassionate, and have minds of their own. Which of course can lead to complications if they are always being told what to do, where to go…and who to love. There are very key characters you will meet, that you will either love, hate, or love to hate. There is quite a bit of sassiness, sarcasm, and definitely some steam. Amidst the tragedy that of course ensues, there is still comedic relief, and an ending you will want to read.

Between the laser guns, moon romance, robots, and space travel this will certainly captivate your interest. You won’t regret giving it a shot!

This was really entertaining and well written. When you put the biggest rock band in the world and the biggest pop star on the same tour, crazy things are bound to happen. While this is the 4th installment in the Balefire series, it can be read as a stand alone. I am not typically one to go for Rockstar romances and I’m starting to think maybe I should start. Every character was a delight on the page and I really wish I had more of Christy’s snarkiness to devour.

This book is SPICY!!!! Oh my goodness, this book hit on every level I look for when reading erotica. It has the forbidden love interest, the secret that is being hidden, the burn between main characters, and the writing to keep you turning pages. This book is really well written that you get instantly caught up in the story and are swept away till the end of the book. It will leave you wanting more and more. The spice isn’t the only thing that will keep you turning the pages and fanning your face, there is an actual romance story in this book. Sometimes you get books that are all steam and spice with no depth but this book does not disappoint. There is an amazing romance and love story to add to the steam. By intertwining the love story with the amazing characters and the steam; the pace of this book is quick but it is good. Maybe it seemed quick because I couldn’t put it down.?. There doesn’t seem to be anything that is really not needed in the story and you are constantly getting all things that you need throughout the book. This is only possible with the amazing writing that the author has done. I highly recommend reading this book and I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

I love this series. You can read it as a stand alone or the series. I recommend read book 1 first. Evan’s story is sweet and romantic. His dates are an adventure. He and Kayla are meant to be and the trick is to realize it. I enjoyed reading their story. A truly wonderful friends to lovers story. Sweet and romantic, the characters are well done and feel like friends. I do wish Luke would get what’s coming to him. Such a young turkey, lol. The story is perfect for the both them to go through the restaurant. You should read this series. I strongly recommend it.

While Jacklyn’s story is fiction, I truly believe situations like this happen to people, and that is a terrifying thought. The author did a great job showing Jacklyn’s thoughts and how easy it would be to give into despair. Her moments of questioning her own sanity were heartbreaking. I wish there were more consequences for the perpetrators, but that is also probably true to life as it is likely difficult to prove people are admitted unnecessarily.

Throwing the Curve (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser – Review by Barbara Bohls

Throwing the CurveThrowing the Curve by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series and it doesn’t disappoint. It can be read as a stand alone so don’t fret. If you enjoy this book as much as I did, you will definitely want to read the first book in the series. To start this book took some turns that I didn’t see coming. The way that the leading female character in the book is introduced to her love interest, completely caught me off guard. It was an amazing twist that you don’t typically see in the sports romance genre. The way that the characters build their interest in each other is by “using” the other person. They each had something to gain from their fake relationship. The leading female hates that she has been put in this situation and is angry with everyone including herself. The leading man is just trying to be a good team mate, so he steps up to help when a teammate tries to hide the lies and save his marriage. What starts as an enemies agreement turns to something else. The slow build in this book is everything. It helps builds the feelings, helps the characters to have growth, and makes for a dang good story. This is an easy to read story that will keep you interested in the plot the whole time. It is all fun and games until a fake relationship isn’t so fake anymore.

Hit on You by Brooke May – Review by Barbara Bohls

Hit on YouHit on You by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is hitting me in all the areas that I need from a great mafia book. The main character is a very strong willed and determined female. I love the fact that her name is Luke. She is wanting to be in control of her own life and doesn’t want to feel like she needs to answer to anyone for what she wants in life. Her only downfall (as she sees it) is who she loves. He is dark and mysterious and everything that she feels she doesn’t need in life. It is one of those instances when you know what you want but feel that it isn’t good for you. This causes some tension with the main characters. It is a constant back and forth with them. Each page will have you wondering if they can overcome the issues that are in front of them? Will they be able to see how good they can be together? Will his position really strangle the freedom that she is craving? Those were the things that I constantly asked myself the whole time reading this book and what kept me turning the pages. It is a very steamy dark romance and I ate it up. It has everything from danger to angry love. This book won’t disappoint if you are a regular mafia romance reader. If you haven’t read that genre before be prepared for a steamy bumpy ride. It will be well worth it.

Shore Lodge made me aware of a fear I never knew I had. When Jacklyn’s husband of 37 years dies and she discovers he was keeping some heavy secrets from her she’s in shock and falls into depression. Luckily she has her son who stepped up and has started to help her get back on track with all of the things she’s been forgetful about. Even signing over power of attorney to him to make sure she’s taken care of should anything happen. Next thing she knows, she’s been admitted to Shore Lodge and has no contact with anyone in the outside world while her son runs amuck with her life and finances.

This was quite the thriller and kept my blood boiling the whole way through, every time things seem to finally go her way, we’re pulled sideways.

Journeys Through Collection: Volume 1-3Journeys Through Collection: Volume 1-3 by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is completely different from what I normally read but I wanted a palate cleanser, so to speak. Plus, it is a boxed set and I am a sucker for series and collections. Let’s start this by saying that this collection will take you on an incredible journey that flows really well from book to book. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this but I was so pleasantly surprised by the way the author took certain aspects of everyday ideas and used them to give you a different view into things or to expand what you already thought you knew. It was a fresh take on things like spirituality, time travel, wisdoms of the world, connections through multiverses, and character development through each book while maintaining mysterious twists and turns. Since, I am not the most educated in Sci Fi, I was not sure how easily I would be able to follow the books or be able to get into the story. It is amazing how the author makes it easy for readers like me to follow along and get just as swept up into the story as if this genre was my normal go to genre. I was intimidated at first because I felt like there was going to be a lot of things that I would have to keep going back to read over just to make sure I don’t forget anything. That is not the case with this collection. The way the author makes sure that things are intricately written but yet in laymen terms make the books even better, in my opinion. I was able to visualize the creativity of the authors words and actually feel what the characters were feeling. This collection has inspired me to read more Sci Fi because I thoroughly enjoyed them. I feel like if you are just starting in Sci Fi or been around reading it for a while this collection would be a great to add.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazing. It is a short quick read that will keep you wanting more. I am normally not one that likes a cliff hanger but for some reason, I don’t mind it with this book. It is probably because, it was an incredible story that hit on everything I needed in a book. I was definitely left wanting more and feel that even if it did have a definite ending, I would still be craving the next book. IT sets the stage for what seems like an amazing new series. There is character development throughout the book which is something I always hope for. The twists and turns that this book takes surprised me but in the best way possible. There is everything one could hope for in a bully romance; heartbreak, love, angst, twists that you don’t see coming, and will leave you wanting more. If you have a few hours of free time I highly suggest reading this book and being sucked into it. I would suggest being prepared to feel everything the characters do because the book is well written. I can’t say enough good things about this book without giving things away and I don’t want to do that. Do yourself a favor and read this book you won’t be disappointed.

This is book will hit every emotion from happy to sad to anger back to happy. It’s the roller coaster of emotions. Cait and Patti have been the best of friends since high school. Something happened the night of prom and they have never really dealt with it. Now Cait’s father is dying and Patti comes back with Cait to help her. Old secrets come out and feelings are hurt. Cait, Patti, and their friends are left to deal with those memories and the aftermath. Sensitive topics, well-written characters and plot that ties everything all together and runs so smooth make for one of the best books I’ve read in 2022 so far. Cait and Patti could be anybody. They are so relatable and the issues they dealt with are very real. I highly recommend this book. It would get more than a 5 star from me if I could.

This book is an emotional roller coaster. You are going to need some tissues and a strong stomach to make it through. It is an amazing book, I highly recommend reading it if you don’t have any triggers. There is a lot of abrasive scenes played out through the whole book. That aside the story line of this book is amazing. It kept me turning the page and reading as fast as I could through the whole book. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. There is huge character development for the leading lady in this story. She is a bada$$ with an amazing will to survive the crap life has dealt her. There are times you will want to smack her but seriously who makes the best decisions all the time. Having a book be able to pull that type of emotion out of the reader is a true testament as to how well it is written. I highly recommend this book as an escape from reality.
