Felines and Fatalities: (A Kitty Beret Cafe Mystery #2) by Ruth J. Hartman

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. This book is amazing and I’m glad we get more of Ellie. I love this book. Felines and Fatalities is the second book in A Kitty Beret Café Mystery Series.

Ellie is back. This time she’s not a murder suspect, but the one who finds the body. He was a judge and supposed to be one of the judges for the cat show. Now her shop is once again involved with a murder. What is going on? The quote I chose for Ellie is: “Yeah. The cost. Though it’s an interesting idea, it’s all I can do to run my business and pay for the care of the cats who live here. Not sure I could afford to do a show.”

Highly recommended for Cozy Mystery lovers.

Loved book 1 and book 2 did not disappoint! Ellie is a wonderful character and I adore her quirky ways. Book 2 we see as she hosts a cat show for her rescues and of course no show is complete without a murder a foot! I had my favorite blanket and my thinking cap to try and solve this feline mystery! Ellie and Detective Simon make a great team and the mystery was a great whodunit!

Ellie and Templeton are back and this time, as well as running the Kitty Beret Café and her costume business, Ellie has a new cat come in looking for a home, but it is a sad case as the owner has died and it is one of her regular customers. It turns out that her dying wish was for Ellie to run a cat show for rescued cats, Ellie thinks it’s a great idea, but is not sure how she will find the time or the money to do it. Fortunately for Ellie, the older lady has donated funds so that she can do it and so Ellie goes ahead and finds a venue and people to judge the entries.

On the morning of the cat show, Ellie is ready to get all the café’s residents ready for their show, this part goes smoothly, but that is the only thing which does. As soon as Ellie enters the building, the let parents descend with demand and complains, with some compliments and thanks sprinkled in, so as she is heading to start her list, she goes into a storeroom, unfortunately she isn’t the only one in there, she finds one of the judges murdered and gets locked in with him.

The janitor comes round and finds her thanks to a raging Templeton and let’s her out, calling the police at the same time, so Detective Dare and his partner show up, but declare that the show can go on as long as the storeroom remains out of bounds. This makes everyone a little bit happier, but the demanding pet parents continue to wreak havoc. As the judging continues, Templeton starts doing his usual thing and brings clues to Ellie, but will they find who the culprit is before anyone else gets hurt? This is another cozy mystery full of felines capers and crazy cat people which will keep everyone reading throughout.

Ellie Warren is the owner of Kitty Beret Cafe. As the name suggests, the store has coffee and cats. The book is an easy read full of cats, a mystery, some funny cat moments, and of course an investigation. Fun to have another glimpse into Ellie’s cafe and the characters both human and cat. I think the author adding the new experience for Ellie by having her host a cat show to get people to adopt cats and extra fun!

Ellie and Templeton are at it again! This time at a cat show! One of Ellie’s long time customers passed away and in her will left some money for Ellie to take and put on a cat show specifically for rescue cats. Ellie, not wanting to refuse the dying wishes, decides to take on the request.

Once at the venue, Ellie is in search of some supplies when she comes across a dead body. The body was that of one of the supposed judges of the event. Ellie calls Simon right away and they decide to carry on with the show. The murderer could still be in the building.

Templeton is up to his normal shenanigans and finding items. Ellie remembering that the items he found a few months ago led to the previous murderer, she doesn’t dismiss anything he finds. Ellie’s attention is spread thin as she is hosting the show, Templeton keeps running off, cat people seem to be prissy and full of complaints. What else can go wrong today?

This book was better than the first in the series. Yes it talked about cats a lot but focused on outside things as well making it more mysterious than the first book. I once again fell in love with Ellie and her sleuth cat.

Fun cozy read to curl up to. This is book 2 of the series and this story is totally enjoyable. Ellie Warren, owner of Kitty Beret Cafe, was asked by a past customer to run a rescue cat show. Hesitant at first, Ellie decides to run with it…that is until she has a run in with a deceased cat judge! Who is behind the murder of a cat judge?? Definitely read and find out.

This series is fun to read….cozy murder mystery with a love of cats in costumes! I also just love Templeton… especially my favorite line of “I’m ready to cause mayhem”.

Ellie is back again and this time she is trying to run a very lengthy cat show for rescue cats. Unfortunately one of the judges, who is an actual judge, turns up dead. Plus side, we get to see more interactions between Ellie and the hot Detective Simon Dare, although the relationship between Detective Dare and her kitty Templeton just continues to get cuter. Again the writer does an amazing job of mixing a murder mystery up into a cute rom-com with such adorable humor. Again, the author does a fantastic job of writing the supporting characters in such a way that I was kept guessing until the very end as to who was the murderer. I am excited to read the third installment in the series!

This is a quick mystery sure to steal your attention from other things you should be doing. I loved that it is a mystery but also stays lighthearted, never getting too dark.

Ellie hosts a rescue cat show instead of the pompous, breed-restricted cat shows that are normally presented. She wants to help her lovely kitties find a home, and thanks to a previous friendly customer she may have a chance to do that while showing them off. Before all the fun starts, Ellie stumbles upon a dead body. Can she help find homes for her rescues while trying to solve this murder or will one cancel the other out?

I never expected to read a book about kittens and murder, but what a wonderful mashup! You’ll be able to sit and soak this up within a day very easily. Pick it up and kick back to see what Ellie and her cats get up to.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, I was looking forward to this second instalment, and I was definitely not disappointed. I loved being back with Ellie Warren, the owner of the ‘Kitty Beret Café’, and her very clever cat Templeton, who we were introduced to in book one. In this storyline, Ellie hosts a cat show for rescued cats, but the fun turns serious when one of the judges is murdered. Ellie, with the help of Detective Dare, and of course Templeton, has to run the cat show, crown a ‘Best in Rescue Winner’ of the competition, and find the killer! This is a heartwarming cozy mystery which kept me hooked from start to finish, and the plot twists kept me guessing as to the identity of the killer. I felt fully immersed in the storyline, and engaged with Ellie, so much so, that I felt like I was investigating alongside her, once again. I look forward to catching up with Ellie and Templeton again soon.

The show itself is a job, but helping to solve a murder is a whole ‘nother job in itself! One of the judges of the show is found murdered and both Ellie and her handy sidekick cate, Templeton jump on board to lend a hand to solve the case!
This is a quick read – if you love cats, you’ll love the story!

Felines and Fatalities (A Kitty Beret Cafe Mystery, Book 2)Felines and Fatalities by Ruth J. Hartman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Felines and Fatalities is Book 2 in the Kitty Beret Café Mystery series. When Ellie, owner of the Kitty Beret Café, agrees to put on a cat show for rescued cats she was not expecting anything more than an adventure involving cats in cute clothes. Things suddenly take a turn when Ellie stumbles onto the corpse of one of the cat show judges in a storeroom on the first day of the cat show. Now Ellie, along with her detective friend, Simon, are involved in a murder mystery that they set out to solve. Of course, no mystery can go unsolved without the aid of Ellie’s beloved rescue cat, Templeton, who is clever enough to help dig up clues of his own. When Templeton starts bringing mysterious items to Ellie, she is baffled by what they mean and who at the cat show these items belong to.

When the news spreads at the cat show about the death of one of the judges some of the reactions from the contestants are not quite what Ellie expected. Some of the contestants are happy about the judge’s death, which of course bumps them up to the top of the suspect list. Is it the sisters who constantly bicker? Is that the secret that one of them is hiding? Is it the begruntled cat mom who terrorizes everyone in her wake? Ellie, Simon, and Templeton are determined to uncover the identity of the murderer in their midst. As they start to uncover clues about each of the cat show contestants, they are stunned by what they discover.

I loved this book and really enjoyed how the author made one of the rescued cats an integral part of the story as he helped to dig up clues of his own. It seemed that Templeton was clever and had a keen sense of who the murderer was before anyone else did. Ellie was sweet and caring but also had her own sleuthing skills that came into action when needed. I loved the subtle love story that started to unfold throughout the book between Ellie and Detective Simon. Templeton played a large part in trying to bring Ellie and Simon together as he played matchmaker between the two of them. Ellie, Simon, and Templeton made a great team as they worked together to solve the murder mystery. A cute and enjoyable read.

Book 2 of A Kitty Beret Cafe Mystery series has Ellie hosting a cat show for the rescue kitties. Felines and Fatalities (A Kitty Beret Cafe Mystery, Book 2)Felines and Fatalities by Ruth J. Hartman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As you can probably guess from the title, Felines and Fatalities is a cat-themed cozy mystery. It’s the perfect book for when your cat has decided that your lap is the most comfortable place in the world and you’re forced to sit still for the foreseeable future! It’s the second book in the series, but you can read it as a standalone if you don’t mind a few spoilers for book 1.

Ellie has plenty on her plate running a cat show – so many logistics to worry about and fussy pet parents coming to her with requests and complaints. If you’ve ever been involved in running events you’ll feel a lot of sympathy for her! And of course, one of the judges has the audacity to get himself murdered. But the show must go on…

The star of this series is, of course, Templeton. Ellie looks after many rescue cats but Templeton is hers, the one she will carry around everywhere to keep out of trouble. The detectives doubt Templeton’s ability to contribute to the mystery-solving process, but Templeton would never let a human dictate what he can and can’t do.

This is an entertaining read that will particularly appeal to animal lovers. It’s a five-star read for me, and I’m looking forward to reading the next book, Meows and Mayhem (which I might save for next time I’m cat-sitting…)

If you are looking for a book with mystery, a muder, a dash of romance and a whole lot of kitty cuteness, then this cozy mystery is for you.

Felines and Fatalities by Ruth J. Hartman is about Ellie, the owner of the Kitty Beret Cafe which is a cafe that serves up delicious cafe treats while housing rescue cats. When Ellie is asked to put on a cat show for rescues, she knew it would be a task but had no idea that while hosting the show, she would be helping solve a murder.

I found the book to be a quick, fun read full of quirky characters and adorable cats. It definitely made me want to cuddle my feline buddy a little closer.

So grab a cup of your favorite beverage, a cozy blanket and your furry friend and try to solve the mystery along with Ellie and her kitty Templeton.

Felines and Fatalities is the 2nd book in the Kitty Beret Cafe series. It could be enjoyed as a stand alone. There are references to the first book and overlapping characters, however, the author provides enough details you don’t feel like you’re lacking information. This book is full of humor and quirky characters. Ellie is a cat fanatic and her employees are too, with their own crazy quirks. Her grandma is a hoot and her cat Templeton’s behavior is hilarious. While this book is a mystery, surrounding a murder, it is light hearted and not a hair raising suspense. I did enjoy it and was happy for the progression between Ellie and Simon. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Ellie Warren returns for the second novel of the series.

She is still owner of the Kitty Beret Café where she still dresses up the cats in cute costumes to help them get adopted (I am not sure if that is helping or not).

When she is approached to host a cat show, Ellie is unsure. Because the show is for rescued cats, she agrees. What was suppose to be a fun performance, becomes more deadly when one of the judges is murdered.

With the help of her cat Templeton and Detective Dare, Ellie once again gets swept up in the investigation and wants to find the killer.

What I love about cozy mysteries is that there are so many different directions to go and various paths to setup the plot as well as the murder. I find this one to be very creative.

I enjoy the characters and the setting of a cat cafe (which I really need to go visit one). At Least this gives me a glimpse of what a cat cafe would be like.

I searched online to see if there was another book to look forward to but sadly I didn’t see anything. I really hope so.

Felines and Fatalities is the second book in A Kitty Beret Café Mystery Series. I have really enjoyed reading this Cozy Mystery. It’s such a cute series. Just when I thought Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom couldn’t top the previous books, they bring their A game and knock the ball out of the park with this one….. This is my favourite book yet, and what makes it even better is that Lottie and the rest of the gang are back, and the crossover is fantastic. While there isn’t as much drama surrounding Jasper’s ex Camila, there is a lot more drama when wives are revealed….. I honestly don’t know how to put into words how amazing this book is. Plus, now that Bizzy and Leo aren’t the only ones with special abilities (like reading minds), it makes it all the more special when they do.
Thanks to Mack (the mayor/ex-bestfriend), Bizzy is hosting a seniors bake off at the Inn, and it appears to be going well, judging by the turnout.

I loved the first book in this series! So of course I had to get my own paws on this beloved gem. I love animals, and cats are very special to me, so of course reading this and hearing about the cats in the story and around the protagonist warms my heart completely! This second installment does not disappoint at all.

We have our fan favorite Ellie back with another mystery in her cat cafe at hand. I loved how her personality and ability to be as curious and inquisitive as she was in the first, was just as strong in this book! This book I found was a quicker pace than the first, as we knew the main characters and some of the felines, and I found the story took different turns than I expected, I was very much immersed in the story and wondering what would happen next! Could not put it down! I was hooked! Love this book and this wonderful author!

The series appeals to me as I do love cats, and I love a good cozy mystery. I love when an author takes all your personal favorite things and makes a book off them! Highly recommend this must read book and author!
