I really enjoyed this contemporary romance. The author does an amazing job with their characters. They are both well developed and are written in a way that makes the reader feel every emotion they go through. I love Grace’s determined spirit and how she let’s nothing stop her from her dreams.
Grace and Ryan have both has losses in their pasts which has left them feeling Wounded and at a loss. When Ryan’s brother passes away it should have been a tragedy that brought them together. Instead Ryan ran and that forced a wedge between Ryan and Grace.

So now we fast forward. Grace is planning on taking her family’s farm over but when her mother’s health deteriorates she needs to make the move sooner than she planned. Which causes a problem. She needs to buy her family out sooner or risk losing the farm forever.
Ryan has now arrived back into her life. After being successful in selling property he’s back to sell his parents place. Should be straight forward. But he didn’t plan on the feelings Grace awakens in him.
When Grace is desperate cause she seek help from the one person that broke her trust all those years ago?
This story is about finding a romance when you least expect it. Their is sadness and happiness, lies and deceit, love and loss. Its a very emotional story and fate definately play a part but will it be enough this time?

Grace Anderson is having a hard time. She has just lost her best friend to suicide and now she must buy out her parent’s farm ten years earlier than originally planned. Her neighbor and best friend’s brother Ryan Wilson comes back to town to flip his mother’s farm property and leave, he blames himself for his brother’s suicide and doesn’t want any attachments. Of course, fate has a hand and Grace has to turn to Ryan for help.

I really enjoyed this book. This is the second book in the Anderson series but I think you can read it as a stand-alone. Ryan and Grace are great together. They have amazing chemistry and I was rooting for them from the start. I really love how the author can weave romance and complex dynamics. This book is well written and a definite page-turner.

Just as good as the first! I jumped right into this one, after reading Taylor’s Law. Once again I was captivated and couldn’t put it down from the moment I picked it up. Another tear jerker, but at least this time I knew Ms. Raines would have me feeling all the emotions. This is so well written you certainly feel like part of the family. Although this is book 2 in the series, it can be read as a stand alone but you would be missing out on a great read if you skip Taylor’s Law.

We meet up with Grace’s family again in this second installment of the Anderson Sisters. Grace is an artesian cheese maker who’s looking to buy her family’s farm to keep it in the family. There is a lot of drama surrounding the farm and who could potentially be the next owner.

Ryan Wilson has known the Anderson family for many years. He grew up on the farm next door. His brother and Grace were very close friends until his brother’s untimely death. Ryan’s a runner…from people and situations. He does, however, enjoy flipping a great land deal over.

Can Grace and Ryan form an alliance to save the Anderson family farm?

This is an enjoyable read set in Australia. Jennifer Raines doesn’t shy away from tackling difficult issues in her stories. The reader may find themselves in the family as they read these stories! I would suggest reading Taylor’s Law if you haven’t yet either! Both of these can be read as stand alones but I would recommend them both!

This is the second book in the Anderson Sisters series but it can be read as a stand-alone book. This book focuses on Grace Anderson; artisan cheese-maker and fifth generation farmer. Grace hopes to own the farm when her father retires, and that day is coming sooner than later for Grace.
Grace’s father arranges for Grace to have some help from her childhood friend, Ryan. Ryan and Grace haven’t been on the best of terms since the death of his brother, Danny. Their relationship is strained from Ryan’s exit, Grace’s stubbornness and Ryan’s willingness to open up about the past.
This book is full of romantic tension, twists and turns, trust and love, and is beautifully written. It was a page-turner from beginning to end.

This story follows Grace as she takes over her family farm much sooner than expected due to her mom becoming too sick to stay on the farm. Grace has had some hardships in life to overcome already, including the death of her best friend as a teenager. The brother of her best friend is now her neighbor on the farm and could be what she needs to save her farm but they havent spoken in years. The death of the one person they both loved has kept them at odds but may also be something that links them together.

This was a unique and interesting story for me to read. I was super intrigued about the farm life for Grace and i really felt like i was experiencing that with her. I also liked the interactions between her and Ryan. They felt genuine. I was not entirely sure how i felt about Ryan at first but then he kind of started to grow on me. I enjoyed Grace and loved seeing her with her family which clearly means a lot to her. This story was fun to read and watch Grace and Ryan put their issues aside to do what is best for the farm and turns out they could be whats right for each other as well.

This book is the second in the Anderson Sisters series and was definitely as good as the first. It is a contemporary romance that can be read as a standalone. The book is certainly emotional, tackling a sensitive topic in a gentle way. For me this really impacted the characters and made them much more relatable and real. They had a great connection right from the start but had such a huge obstacle to overcome.
The author weaves and enjoyable story that connects with its audience. It has a great balance between emotional, romance and an overall enjoyment. I think this is a great book and I am looking forward to more from this author.

Grace Under Fire is the second instalment in The Anderson Sisters Series by Jennifer Raines. It is another enjoyable contemporary romance with family, friendship, love, loss, connection, drama, greed, farming, shared history, complications, determination, mistrust, sabotage, angst, humour, chemistry, second chances, and finding love unexpectedly.
I really liked Grace, and Ryan. Their past history added an extra element of interest to the story for me. They share a loss which cut them both deeply. But instead of drawing them together, it caused a rift. Grace wants to keep her parents farm in the family, which means buying them out, sooner than expected as her mother’s health problems have forced her parent’s hands. Easier said than done, especially with the bank breathing down her neck. Ryan is back after 8 years away making it big flipping property. He’s returned to sell his mother’s farm and plans to get in and get out. But fate might have different plans, for them both. What happens makes for a great read.
Looking forward to more from Ms. Raines.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Jennifer Raines!

Grace Under Fire
By: Jennifer Raines

I love the Anderson Sisters Series! This is the second book in the series, but it definitely reads as a standalone. It is simple to follow along and you really don’t need any background to understand.
Grace Anderson is undergoing the biggest challenge of her life. There is a succession plan for her family’s farm, however, that plan was designed to take place a while from now. Due to a family emergency her timeline has moved up, and it is clear she is going to need some help. She wants to buy the farm outright without anyone’s help, however, the bank doesn’t seem willing to do this.
Enter Ryan. Ryan is Grace’s best friend’s brother. The one that she hasn’t seen since the day of her friend’s funeral. The one that she is so angry with for reasons she doesn’t understand. Obtaining the farm means that Grace is going to have to run into him a lot. She is going to have to begin to work through her feelings towards him. But what if her feelings are even more complicated than she thought? And what if he might be the only person who is able to help her save her families farm? Will she be willing to end her rule to trust no one it it means saving the farm?
I love the Anderson family. They are such readable characters and the kind of family that clearly has its ups and downs but in the end has each others backs. Ryan is a very interesting character, one that is hard to pin down. I definitely loved this story and recommend it for a quick, fun read!

I really enjoyed Jennifer’s first book Taylor’s Law and was looking forward to reading this book Grace Under Fire. Contemporary romance lovers will love this book. The characters are complex and well developed. It is an emotional journey for them as they are still reeling from their pasts.
This intriguing story keeps the pages turning. With something for everyone, love and loss, secrets and lies, wealth and greed, passion and compassion, fear and angst, sadness and frustration, humour and more you can’t go wrong.
Grace thought she had more time. Now she is forced to act much sooner than she thought. She will fight with everything she has to hold on to the one thing that means more to her. Will she be able to overcome her abandonment and mistrust to seek help or will she lose it all?

Ryan is still haunted from a tragedy and is stomping his way through the world without thought for anyone or anything. Now he isn’t so sure what to do. Will he come to terms with his past and be there for the woman who needs help?
It is not just their pasts they have to endure it is sabotage and hard ballers that are determined to take it all away.
I look forward to more from Jennifer.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which had me hooked from start to finish. Grace Anderson is an artisan cheese maker and the fifth generation to work on the family farm. Unfortunately Grace has had a difficult time as her father was conned out of land, and her closest friend committed suicide. When her mother’s health deteriorates she’s determined to buy her parents out, before they loose the farm and run it alone. The bank make it difficult for Grace and she has to consider selling part of the land to neighbour Ryan Wilson. Ryan is back on his family farm after eight years away, to sell it. Ryan is still grieving for his younger brother Danny who committed suicide. Blaming himself he just wants to do what he’s good at, flipping farm properties, and then leave. Ryan does not like forming attachments with people or land, so he’s a bit mystified when he offers to help neighbour Grace.

When someone sabotages Grace’s purchase she reluctantly turns to Ryan for assistance, but finds more than financial help. Neither Grace or Ryan can ignore the chemistry between them, which sizzles off the page, but she needs to realise that accepting his help isn’t a failure and he needs to learn to open his heart again. Although this is the second book, it can be read as a standalone story, however having read and enjoyed the previous one I liked how the characters popped up in this novel. I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading this heartwarming romance. I loved the main characters, and how Ryan and Grace’s relationship developed. The setting was brought to life by the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in the storyline, which kept me happily turning the pages.

Grace and Ryan have had a rocking past with his brother and her best friend committed suicide. When he left back then, it broke her relationship with him as a friend back then. Grace is working her butt off with her cheese business and the family farm, when news happens. Her moms health is worse, and the farm needs to be sold. Grace wants to keep it and will do almost anything to do that. This is where Ryan comes in. The drama, the romance tension, and the relationships are so good!!!

This is book number two in The Anderson Sisters series, and it was just as perfect as the predecessor. The protagonist makes you root for her to win. She has been through so much heartache and pain that I found myself an emotional mess on this rollercoaster ride of a story. She reminded me of myself in certain ways because she is such a strong willed, do it yourself woman. Fierce and determined to not ask or accept help. However sometimes you are resigned to the fact that you must do what is needed under fire. I loved this story. I highly recommend it. I think this would make a wonderful Hallmark movie and would love to see it on screen.

Grace and Ryan are going to have to work together to save her family’s farm. It is being sold because her parents have to relocate for their health. Grace has 3 months to secure financing to buy it. She and Ryan have been friends but a falling out damaged that. Can they work together to save the farm and her business? The chemistry between these two is there the whole time. What makes this story so fascinating is watching them work through the relationship and the issues. The story feels realistic and relatable. The characters feel like they could be your neighbors. It was nice to see Ella and Jake and Tessa pop in. A lovely story that you just can’t pass by.

Australian Jennifer Raines writes contemporary romances set mainly, but not exclusively, in Australia – think Malta, Finland, New Zealand or ?. A dreamer and an optimist, her stories are a delicious cocktail of mutual respect, passion and loyalty because she still believes in happily-ever-afters.

Jennifer fell in love with romance as a teenager. Starting with historical romance. Everything in the school library and then a personal treasured collection of Georgette Heyer, hard copies and paperbacks. Now she has a full print set of Georgette Heyer, old volumes with gorgeous covers found in second-hand shops in London and shipped home alongside a duplicate e-book collection. Comfort food, she calls them, like vegemite toast, for those times when she feels low. Her library of comfort food has grown over the years but Georgette Heyer was an early star, under the blankets after lights out using a torch.

Jennifer is a member of Romance Writers of Australia. Three times a finalist in the Emerald competition, including in 2017, 2018 (Taylor’s Law) and 2022. She’s a member of Romance Writers of New Zealand, winning the Pacific Hearts competition twice, including in 2019 with Grace Under Fire, the sequel to Taylor’s Law. She’s also a member of Romance Writers of America and has been a finalist in chapter competitions in 2019, 2020 and 2021 (Taylor’s Law). Jennifer values competitions for the constructive, honest, not always comfortable feedback they provide.

Jennifer loves those days when words flow and the joy of writing makes the hard slog worthwhile. She’s always made up stories about strangers in the street, in a café or strolling through an airport terminal; finding inspiration in snippets of conversations, news items and the sheer puzzle of human interactions.

Jennifer lives in inner-city Sydney, Australia, with the requisite number of partners (1) and animals (2). Her desk overlooks a park which nourishes her soul when she raises her head from her keyboard. She gets some of her best ideas during long yin yoga poses or walking – anywhere. While Jennifer adores historical romance, she chose to write contemporary because she thought (wrongly) it needed less research while she was holding down a full-time job.
