Praise for the character development in Apocalypse! Seth, Miriam and the whole crew are going through a good deal of emotional growth not to mention an Apocalypse at the same time! Thank you, Theresa for writing such fascinating characters. One of the best Young Adult novels I’ve read in a while. The Epic tale of good vs. evil feels so appropriate in the Garden of Edenia. I look forward to the next installment and future works by this author.

This fast paced second book will leave you wanting more! It picks up right where the first book leaves off. All Seth wants to do is save Lillian instead of waiting around a week in Edenia. Can he betray Miriam to save her though? As you dive into this story you learn more about Edenia and all the secrets it holds. I love how you get to know the characters even more and their roles in the protection of Edenia. This is a fantasy read about finding yourself and forgiveness in one of the most unique stories I’ve read. I cannot wait to read the third book! This author really knows how to leave you needing more!

An epic sequel, Apocalypse continues the story set in Edenia. With stunning world-building and continued character development, the story of Seth and Miriam fills with more depth and detail. A plot that has you flipping pages will keep you stuck to this story like glue. The continuation of this story will fulfill what you had been left wondering in the first book, but is also easy enough to pick up on its own. Highly recommend.

This was a good read and a good follow up sequel novel. It took me a bit to remember how the first one left off, so I was confused for a good bit of the novel. I didn’t connect with this book like I did the first one, but I think it was mostly due to the fact that it’s been so long since I’ve read the first installment. It’s an interesting story with an interesting plot and storyline and characters too. I did enjoy it I just hate I didn’t enjoy it more. I plan to go back sometime and reread the first novel and go immediately to the second so I can get more from this one. Overall it was great and I highly recommend this book and series, but you will definitely want to read the books in order!

This book was definitely not what I expected! It was a bit slow at first as the story was set up, but by the end of the book I was very excited to read the second book in the series.

The writer has a great attention to detail, not many books I read am I able to fully picture what is going on in the book but this author had such talent that I was able to do so. She did a great job transitioning between the characters throughout the story, I was easily able to see things from each of their points of view. I’m very excited to jump into reading the next book

Picking up where the last book left off, this was a quick read for me! The writer continues to impress me with her writing skills and great attention to detail.

The book left me wondering what would happen next at the end of every chapter. I was sucked in right from the beginning, making it easy for me to read it quickly.

The book was like the first one in that the points of view were from different characters and she continued to amaze me with her ability to do so eloquently. I am a huge fan of this writer and can’t wait to read future books by her.

I did not read the first book of the series but I am going to now! This book had me hooked from the first chapter. I’ve read so many books this year that have been fresh and original. Usually with Fantasy books you get the same story over and over again but with this one was so different. I am ready for the next book and will definitely read the first one.

Oh snap Batman! The twists and turns that happen in this second book kept me on the edge of my seat! To take vengeance or not to is the question Seth asks himself daily. He is still hurt by the way his life has taken, but his love for Miriam is what keeps him going, or I hope it does. Miriam has placed a huge amount of trust into Seth hands, and hope that he doesn’t completely crush it in his hands. Peter the poor kid is so lost and trying to find his place in the world. I can’t wait to read more!!! The apocalypse is happening and our Edanians are trying to find their way!

Seth is a young man who has some unresolved issues he needs to sort through, he still cannot believe how Miriam stole his memories and then never admitted to it and the trust which she broke in the process. He also struggles with his feelings for Miriam and the way they swing in between the extremes but betrayal is the one he feels most sharply. Meanwhile, Miriam is also struggling with her sentiments towards Seth and his strange way of life before he came to the garden, but she has no regrets as such, about what she had to do to keep the Garden and it’s people safe.

Seth now has to plan his own betrayal now that the Jones’s have become involved, his life just became a whole heap more complicated, but his brain still wars against his heart. Miriam however is placing more and more trust in Seth and is conflicted about whether this is based on more than just teenage whims. However, Peter has no such conflicted feelings, he cannot trust Seth and knowing what he knows, he has to make some hard decisions about the people around him and who he can trust with it, especially when he has the feeling that he is part of something much bigger than just the garden.

Will Seth be able to carry through on his betrayal and what will it cost him? Will Miriam be able to follow he heart and trust Seth and will Peter be able to pluck up the courage to follow his Nature wherever and to whom it leads? This is a fantasy adventure filled with intrigue, secrets, betrayal and revelations, as choices are made and consequences realised in this world of two halves.

This author has fast become one of my favorites!! Book three cannot come fast enough!!!

This was a fantastic follow up to the first book in the Guardians of the Garden series. It is a YA fantasy series, but as an adult I am also very captivated by the stories. I think I enjoyed this book more than the first one because it contained some amazing action sequences. I loved how she incorporated the sacred stories with the old wives’ tales. I thought that it really brought the storyline dynamic out. While this is part of a series, it’s my opinion that you could read them separately without having to read in order. But I of course would suggest reading them in order. I do highly recommend this book and hope that you will give it a read.

This 2nd installment of a great series starts with Seth, who ie desperately struggling between his feelings for his love Miriam and his dedication, love for his sister who is dying.

Situations arise (no spoilers!) where he consistently feels like he has to choose between them, and making a choice will destroy him as he wants his love for both. Does he choose his sister, or does he choose to betray his love? Can he make a choice?

This book continues the storyline of the protection of The elusive Garden of Eden. There’s ebough angst, and inter character drama that will keep you hooked but also somehow find yourself desperately invested in their wants, and needs.

Can’t wait to read the 3rd book!

This book was amazing and something all ages would enjoy. I have to play catch up and read book 1, but book 2 still took my breath away. The story itself is vividly told and the characters just dance through the imagination in this world that’s been created. Each character plays a critical role within the story, and as it progresses you clearly see their growth. Everyone has a story to tell, and it all brings the tale together. Seth was quite the hero and you cheer him on hoping for that happy medium of the love of a woman and the future of his his sister.
So much went on within the story and from start to finish you will find yourself intertwined with the characters journey.

Apocalypse (Guardians of the Garden Book 2) by Theresa Pocock – Review by Desiree Ottinger

As this, the second book in the series, picks up right where the first one left off, we find Seth in a struggle between his love for Miriam and his love for his dying sister. He feels likes he has to choose one or the other and that there isn’t an option to have both. Will he make the right choice or betray the love that could last a lifetime? In the meantime, Peter- Miriam’s brother, finds himself thrust into his Nature and ends up playing a vital role in the continued struggle with the Joneses. Will it be enough to stem the tide of the Joneses advances?

I am thoroughly enjoying this series! I love the author’s take on the Garden of Eden and its protectors. Her character’s struggles with each other in how they relate (parents to kids, kids to kids…) is very relatable. In this book there is a lot of forgiveness going on and what it looks like to forgive someone who has wronged you or a loved one. Admittedly, there were several chapters in this book that I became teary eyed!

I look forward to the third book! I need to know how everything goes!

A long-awaited book 2 is finally here! We catch up with the Edenians right where book 1 left off, where Seth is desperately hoping for a cure for his dying sister Lillian. He struggles to make a choice between betraying the girl he loves, and saving his little sister from certain death. You can really feel how this choice weighs on him, as he tries to be a man and protect the people he loves. I felt so much compassion for him and his struggles, and the cascading effects that his unfortunate decision creates. Lots of action in this book, it is definitely a page-turner. Pocock is fantastic at hooking in the reader, and creating realistic, layered, interesting characters to root for (or loathe!)

Definitely read Book 1 first – it’s well worth it and a great read. It had been several months for me between books, and it took me a bit to reorient myself to the characters and plot from Guardians of the Garden.

Apocalypse (Guardians Book II)Apocalypse by Theresa Pocock
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Guardians of the Garden series. I would really recommend reading the books from the beginning to help you appreciate the characters even more. This is a great fantasy adventure. There is romance, secrets, betrayal and a battle between doing what’s right and doing what’s wrong.

We are back with Seth. Seth is secretly working with the Joneses to get access to Edenia. He is doing this to get help for his very ill sister. However this time the payment they want is in the form of Miriam. Seth had finally found a connection with someone and now he has to choose to betrayal her to save his sister or let his sister suffer with her illness. Fighting a constant battle between his heart and his head Seth is set on a path which may end up destroying him.
Miriam has never left Edenia. She is finally finding she had a place and a voice in this town now. However her attraction and connection with Seth makes her trust him completely. She never thinks he would betray her to her enemy. With Seth fighting this battle will Miriam be able to help him or will she lose him? With her beliefs being shaken about the masters and his plan for her we find Miriam starting to rebel and follow her heart instead of her instincts.

The author does an amazing job of giving the characters their own identities and story’s but somehow skillfully wrapping them and joining them together to make a story full of twists and turns which will grip you from the beginning.

This second installment has so much to offer, I loved it even more then the first installment in this series. Once again the author gives us amazing characters, a fantastic plot, and a story that you simply can’t put down. While I didn’t love every character in this book, that was perfectly fine because she wrote a devils advocate to perfection. The character development was beautiful, the word building flowed beautifully, and each character definitely had their own story to tell. While this book could be read as a standalone I would highly recommend reading them in order. But if your looking for a new series to read make sure you run out and pick this one up today.

I appreciated that I could follow the story without having read the first book. I enjoyed the Tree of Life and the weaving of mythology that comes along with it. The time old good vs. evil is well played in the storyline as well. Seth’s need to make impossible choices really helped deepen his character. I did not like jumping between characters but that is just a personal preference. I thought this was overall an interesting book.

Apocalypse (Guardians of the Garden Book 2) by Theresa Pocock – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Apocalypse (Guardians Book II)Apocalypse by Theresa Pocock
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Apocalypse is Book 2 of the Guardians of the Garden series. In the follow-up to book one, the Apocalypse has started and the Edenians are wrapped up in the middle of it. They find that they must now fight to save thousands of years’ worth of secrets.

The Joneses have a dastardly plan for Edenia and for Miriam. Seth’s sister Lillian is sick, and he is determined to try to save her life. In doing so he strikes a bargain with the Joneses to give them Miriam. In exchange they will let him take his sister to get the medical care that she so desperately needs.

Miriam is smitten with Seth and hopes that he feels the same about her. She falls for his charm, never suspecting that he has other plans for her and that his true intention is to give her up to the Joneses. Seth has also developed feelings for Miriam but chooses to push them down and put them to the side because he feels that the greater good is in saving his sister’s life. He doesn’t like the thought of having to exchange one life for the other, but he loves his sister Lillian dearly and will do anything to save her life. Although Seth finds Miriam to be one that he feels he can sacrifice for the life of his sister, his decision does not come easily. He is wracked with guilt afterwards and regrets his decision when he learns that the plan for Miriam is far more sinister than he was told.

As a nature lover I found Edenia and guardians protecting a secret world to be a fascinating concept. This book had a complex network of characters that all weave their way in and out of the story making it a fascinating read. All characters played a vital part as they did their best to not only save their own lives but to protect the Tree of Life from the mortals. Miriam and Seth play a very integral role in the entire story. They have a unique relationship, and both have feelings for the other. I found Miriam’s courage and strength to be quite admirable as she fought to not only survive, but to fit in. Seth is someone that you want to hate because of his plot to give Miriam up to the Joneses, but you quickly realize there is more to it and his intentions were good. You find yourself equally rooting for both him and Miriam as you read to see what will become of them, as well as Edenia.
