Royally Complicated (The Crowned Hearts Series Book 1) by Gwyn McNamee and Christy Anderson – Review by Angela Shirley

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bridget is on her honeymoon but without the groom, finding that her fiancée was having an affair with his secretary will somewhat put a blip in the plans. So arming herself with her best friend and deciding not to waste the trip she finds herself in Lovolia. When Daphne starts pushing her to forget the idiot she was going to marry and have a holiday fling, but when Daphne comments get too close for comfort off storms Bridget with a bottle of tequila.

While wondering Bridget finds herself on a small beach with no crowds accept a lone man surfing in the sea, when all of a sudden she is starring at the most handsome man she has seen in ages and when he approaches her demanding she leaves the private beach something happens between them that makes it impossible to move. Until advances are made and tequila regrets maybe on the cards.

Fyn has pressures most people could not conceive, the next in the line for King all he wants is to live his life the way he wants to live it, but when the King and Queen are pressuring him to marry Princess Abigail who he does not even like it all becomes too much. Fyn does what he loves to unwind and goes surfing at the private beach until he is rudely interrupted by a trespasser. As Fyn gets to know her better the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts but just as he has found her she vanishes and he is lost.

Over the year of searching for her she shows up back in his life and he is not letting her escape again, but with the unrest in his country can he keep hold of the woman he loves and help save the country he loves from the rebels out to destroy the monarchy?

I have read a lot of Gwyn’s books and they all offer strong female leads and this one does not disappoint, although at the beginning Bridget is lost and seems grown down by the end of the story she is determined to fight for her man even if it upsets the Queen/Fyn’s mother. Fyn’s character has different dimensions and with his strong relationship to his best friend Lev shows another layer to this complicated character.

The story flows and is well written, with twists and turns throughout the story will have you engaged until the end. As this is the first book in the series it sets up the world of Lovolia brilliantly and has you wanting to visit to see the various sites that is described within the pages.

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series regarding Lev and Daphne as this seems a fiery relationship in this book.

If Hallmark made raunchy movies, this would be it. Small town girls meets her Prince after a horrible breakup while she goes on her pre-purchased honeymoon. Sprinkle in civil unrest and an evil princess, you have the classic romance novel. I wish we got a little more backstory with each character. Even though they felt an instant connection, I didn’t feel that with our two main characters. I did however, feel the instance hated if Fyn’s parents and abigail towards Bridgette. The descriptions of their encounters were spot on. Ultimately, this This was a quick entertaining read that you will not want to put down.

Royally Complicated: (A Stand-alone Royal Forbidden Romance) (The Crowned Hearts Series Book 1)

So very thankful for long weekends, if today had been a work day I might have called in sick so I could finish devouring this book. I was hooked from the very beginning and only put it down long enough to make supper and eat.

Ms. McNamee and Ms. Anderson’s writing styles blend perfectly in this book. I have read several of their books individually and one other collaboration and have not been disappointed one.

I love trying to figure out what’s going to happen next but they were able to surprise me a few times.

Fyn and Bridget work so well together and even with all that they have to deal with, they find their way.

I already have the next book loaded on my Kindle to read and I can’t wait.

This was an amazing read. The development of the plot and the characters was wonderful. Gwyn does an amazing job of keeping the reader engaged.

This book follows the stories of Bridgets and Fyn. Bridget just wanted to get away from the reality of what happened back home with her ex. her best friend talks her into going on a girls’ trip to help her forget him and move on.

Fyn is tired of his parents meddling in his life and telling him what he can and cannot do all of the time. He just wanted a few hours of solace alone in his favorite place on the island. His own beach where he can enjoy a stress-free ride on the waves.

When Bridget gets fed up with her friend she wanders off with an old friend, a bottle of tequila. She finds her way to a beach that seems to be empty. When she notices a handsome man off in the distance riding the waves. Once he finally, emerges she is entranced by his features. One thing leads to another and they are getting very close and personal. Unfortunately, their intimate moment gets interrupted by the royal guard.

What happens when a commoner sleeps with the crowned prince? Can they be together or is this just a fling? Will the royal family approve of a woman with no noble blood? What happens when two souls are ripped apart?

Read this book to find out what happens with Fyn and Bridget. I also suggest some water because the steam in this book is sure to heat your blood.

I have followed this author through many stories and am pleased to find that this book is just as wonderful as the others I have read! Bridget is going through it right now. Her fiancé cheated, and now she’s on “their” honeymoon because who wouldn’t want to get away after an earth-shattering revelation like that? She finds a surfer, Fyn, who turns out to be a prince. Could this turn into a real-life fairytale, or is this just a simple rebound? I really enjoyed the flow of this story as I was sucked into this reality before I realized it. I sat down to read a couple chapters and looked up to find it was hours later! This has romance, drama, steamy scenes, and plenty of other emotions, so go ahead and pick it up to get lost for the day.

Bridget turns her non-refundable honeymoon into a girl’s trip with her best friend when she catches her fiancé cheating and calls off the wedding. Fueled by tequila, she has a romp on the sand with a stranger…only to find out that stranger is actually the Prince when the royal guard comes looking for him. Fast forward a year and the two are brought together again, determined to make a go at something permanent. However, Fyn has a country in turmoil, an over-bearing mother determined to marry him off to a royal, and the princess of a neighboring country who is determined to be the one to wear the crown. Can these two overcome the obstacles stand in their way? Or will Bridget and Fyn be a fairytale without a happy ending?

I really enjoyed these characters. There were moments that were hot and steamy, some that were tense and catty, and some that were just romantic as can be. It’s a modern telling of a fairytale where the prince and American commoner fall in love and are determined to make it work! I loved it!

Bridget and her best friend are on what should have been her honeymoon. After she caughter her fiance cheating, Bridget needed to get away and try to find herself again. After hearing some harsh truth from her bestie she takes off with a bottle of tequila and finds herself on a beach that is deserted and turns out to be private property. Her life is about to be turned upside down. Fynix, or as Bridget comes to know him at first, Fyn, is the crown prince of Lovolia. Upon their initial meeting he doesn’t tell her that as he figured she already knew that particular detail. Imagine his surprise when he realizes that she has absolutely no idea. He didn’t intend to lie, but in the heat of the moment he didn’t exactly get around to telling the truth. Once the royal guard showed up on behalf of his mother all bets were off and Bridget felt betrayed all over again. Now a year has passed and Bridget is back to say her good-bye to Fyn and move on with her life. Fyn on the other hand is showing up in hopes that he sees her again and this time he doesn’t intend to let her walk away. This is the true beginning of their forever. Royally Complicated was a quick and easy read. The characters were enjoyable as well. I liked the no nonsense approach that the best friend Daphne took with Bridget. We all need a friend like that in our lives. This is definitely a book that should be added to your collection.

Royally Complicated (The Crowned Hearts Series Book 1) by Gwyn McNamee and Christy Anderson – Review by Kerry Carr

Royally ComplicatedRoyally Complicated by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really fast paced steamy romance between a Prince and a normal girl. This is the story of Fyn and Bridget.
The chemistry between Fyn and Bridget is off the charts and even though Fyn is a Prince that isn’t known by Bridget when they first meet.
Fyn doesn’t have an easy life. As Prince of Lovolia his family is expecting him to marry someone to enhance their status and produce an heir. Fyn however has other ideas. He doesn’t want to marry someone just because of their status or what they can bring to the kingdom. When he meets Bridget he was expecting to meet her once and never again but when their paths cross and Bridget learns the truth of who he is then he has to fight for the right to be with the person he wants.
Bridget is on what should have been her honeymoon but after finding out her husband to be was cheating she took the holiday with her best friend. When she meets a handsome man on the beach she wasn’t expecting anything to come of it. She definately didn’t expect to find out that he is a Prince.

As their connection grows they realise that their feelings are more that just one night thing but there are plenty of problems standing in their way. Mainly the Queen and King. Will they allow their son to be with a normal girl?

This is a fast paced romance and I love how determined Fyn is to fight of the woman he loves and how he will go against all odds to be with her.
I really enjoyed this story. After all who doesn’t want to find their Prince. Especially one as hot as Prince Fyn. Fyn and Bridget are so perfect together. Their connection is steamy and off the chart chemistry but they also perfectly fit together and are made for each other. Their journey to be together is far from an easy one and the pair have to fight for the right to be together no matter who or what is against them.

This book is amazing. It grabs you from the start and the steam between the characters is off the charts. You will find yourself feeling all the emotions that the characters. It is the tale of the commoner and the prince. Can they have their love or will it be ruined by everything standing in their way? However, that isn’t everything there is about this book. There is steam, intrigue, mystery, suspense, steam, love, vengeance, and of course steam. This was a very quick read for me and is the first in the series. I am excited to read the second book to see what happens. You won’t be able to stop reading this book once you start so please keep that in mind when you begin. You will be swept away with the charm of the prince and the meet cute the they have on the beach. How they fall for each other without any preconceived notions, just plain simple attraction; is what really drew me into the book. It is very well written that you can’t really tell which author wrote what part. It is like they were sharing the same brain while writing this. It makes the reading seamless and flows from one page to the next.

What little girl didn’t grow up loving fairytales? This is definitely a mature version of one of those. I enjoyed this book, it had everything I enjoy most from a book. An excellent story, relateable characters, steamy scenes, and all the drama! I cannot wait to read more in this series. Bridget has been burned by past relationships, after being dealt the ultimate burn when she discovered her fiancé was cheating on her she goes on the trip that should have been her honeymoon with her best friend. Bridget has always played it safe in life but this time she throws caution to the wind and finds a connection and steamy sex with a complete stranger who just happens to be royal unbeknownst to her. Fynix is feeling the pressure of his role as a monarch and the pressure his parents have placed on him, he never expected the connection he finds with Bridget to change his life in the way it does.

I tried to love this book…unfortunately, I read the second book first, so I pretty much knew the entire plot before reading this one and it just took away the joy of reading the plot from me.

It’s the classic American meets a foreign prince and falls in love. There is an uproar, and all is overcome. She’s a loveable person so she wins everyone over eventually.
Fyn and Bridget are likeable characters and have chemistry…. I just couldn’t get into the story. It was like watching a movie when the entire plot was revealed in the trailer.

*This does not mean I will not read another book by either author or them as collaborators; I just would have preferred to read this book first.

When Bridget finds out her fiancé is cheating on her, who else to take on your planned honeymoon but your bestfriend. Everyone needs a best friend like Bridget’s!
Bridget makes her way to a deserted beach with a bottle of liquor and sees someone surfing.
It’s just the two of them on the beach and they end up sharing an amazing together until dirt calls.
Bridget leaves and doesn’t look back. 1 year later she decides to go back and get closure.
Of course she ends up seeing Fyn again.

I felt bad for Bridget throughout the book. She was treated horribly by the King and Queen and some others. I couldn’t believe what happened or who was behind it. Just wow! Good 4* read

When Bridget finds her fiancee cheating the next logical move is to use the honeymoon trip with her best friend. After a little realization, Bridget grabs a cheap bottle of tequila and finds herself drinking on a private beach. Fynix the sexy surfer approaches the beach where Bridget is drinking. Little did Bridget know that her one-night stand on the beach would have been with a prince. Bridget can’t get Lovolian and its prince off her mind, even a year later. Yet, being the other woman is not her style, and no matter how amazing the sex is Bridget must move on with her life
This is a modern-day fairytale with a steamy adult twist. I could not put this book down and I absolutely can’t wait to read more.

Russian and Royally Complicated, written by authors Gwyn McNamee and Christy Anderson, is a
well written story spiced up with heavy doses of hate, desire, suspense and so much more. Daphne and Lev seperately face their two best friends marrying each other and these two rivals are both feeling abandoned, alone with no good outlet. Their personality quirks and attitudes have gotten under one anothers skin since they met years prior. But despite their feelings of contempt for one another, and being complete opposites, they are absolutely magnetized by one another and share. Neither one of them want to return to their lives after the wedding. Their friends run off on their honeymoon, and in an unlikely set of events, these two wind up in one another’s company begrudgingly. From there, unpredictable events take place and it kept me from being able to put this book down once I started. I was hooked from the beginning but I was so curious about secrets being kept, I am amazed at how fast I devoured the story. I absolutely do recommend if you like a good enemies to lovers with lots of heat!

Although that probably sounds boring to most people. Unless you are one of those that love those type of stories. I enjoyed Royally Complicated. I was drawn to this book because I love 1 of the 2 authors. I’m not overly familiar with the other, but that means I just have someone else’s work to look into. Any back to the book at hand. It was a great start to a new potential series. A story that involves a middle class American woman, who has been living her life safe and the crowned prince of Lovolia who feels he’s living in a gilded cage.
What would these ever have in common, let alone what would bring them together?
Bridget, a jilted bride, away on holiday(her honeymoon) with her best friend. Coasting through it miserably and unable to get out of her depressed funk, has some truths thrown at her she doesn’t want to hear. Causing her to run, but not without grabbing a bottle of cheap tequila to take with her. Not realizing her life is about to get turned upside down.
Fynix is royally bogged down. He hates the constant parading of potential brides his parents keep bringing to him. The most recent one being the worst. He has to escape, what he never expected that escaped would be life altering.
These authors present a strenuous, steamy, complicated, and wonderful story. The development of the main characters over time was wonderful, though I think they nailed the growth of some of the supporting characters beautifully.
So now I ask you, is it worth the read?
Well if you’re going by what I’d have to say, I’m going with absolutely. It’s not perfect but it was wonderful.

I just love me some of these Hawke men 😍🫣🔥😉🤪

Allie and Jude share a special bond and they have since they were children and she gets him better than most people but something is up with the both of them ….

Allie takes Jude his coffee every morning and it really irks Angelina and sometimes she feels Jude monopolises Allie’s time but there’s so much she needs to learn and again I’m reminded not to assume anything in life and communication really is key 😉

Jude has a dark and very sad history and he’s a fiercely private man and some may call him aloof but once you know his story you just want to envelope him and hold on to him and never let go and he’s always held a flame for Angelina , she’s owned his heart since the first time their eyes met and nobody knows not even Angelina herself and it’s got nothing to do with the big age gap between them ….

Allie’s strange behaviour brings Jude and Angelina together to figure out what’s going on and try to help her but there’s also the looming threat of “ The Grind” so there’s alot going on and throw in the tension brewing between Angelina and Jude and you’re in for the best 420 pages ❣️📚

I love that Byron and Luca bought Jude a building where he could have a bookstore under and live above the store where he could write and study but with him not using it there’s the possibility of it being part gallery for Jack and I think the pressure is on because Jude has been dragging his feet with his dark secret 🥲

Nana stole my heart and man she’s a gem 💎 but I’ll be honest I cried buckets and what my people have been through but every storm cloud has a silver lining right !?

Something that will stay with me as it really hit my heart “ Family isn’t just blood , Al . It’s our love for each other . It’s what we’re willing to do for each other that makes us family ….”

I’ll be honest I was still left with a few unanswered questions regarding Allie and the looming threats against the Hawkes …..

I love a fairy-tale romance that gives me sugar and spice and everything very nice with a bit of drama, forbidden romance, some spicy scenes, and a little bit of twist I did not see coming. this was a fantastic read that I loved every moment and I cannot wait to dive into the next book.

Every little girl dreams on marrying her own Prince Charming….little did Bridget know while on a girls vacation that she would meet her own prince without really knowing he was a true prince. Bridget is reeling on a past relationship that left her feeling unworthy as her ex-fiancee has other plans of being a cheater. Bridget ends up on a secluded part of the beach where she is vacationing and meets Fyn. Their instant connection ends up being the fun she needed…..

Fyn meets Bridget at the Royal Family private beach area, but after talking to her, he realizes that she does not know his true identity. The easy conversation between them turns into more…not to say when the guards come for him, Bridget finding out who he truly is. Fyn is drawn to Bridget for who she is and the spark they have that is truly undeniable.

When Fyn and Bridget try and make a go of their forbidden relationship, things turn bumpy for them along with violence that is happening in the county that Fyn loves dearly. With political scrutiny that his family is facing will Fyn be able to balance between his duty to his people and his love for Bridget?

They really were two of the best characters I have read about in a long time. They hated each other but that hate led to the most electric passion ever! The chemistry between them literally oozed off the pages! Because we had already met the characters in the first book I felt like their story was able to start with a bang and that it did! I loved the first book in this series but I have to admit I think this one has knocked it off the top spot! I was completely riveted form beginning to end – an absolutely fantastic read and one that I highly recommend!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book so much! I absolutely adore these authors and I was glued to this book from beginning to end. A wonderful writing duo that you have absolutely no idea who writes which parts because they complement each other’s writing styles so much.
I loved Bridget – she was such a great character to read about and Prince Fynix was one of those characters you fall in love with instantly. I adore stories like this one when a royal falls in love with a normal down to earth person – definitely movie material this book! I loved all the twists and turns in the story and I was rooting for these two the whole way through the book!
Fantastic book and I can’t wait for the next one!
