Flame and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns Book 1) by Kay L. Moody – Review by Heather Watson

Flame and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns)Flame and Crystal Thorns by Kay L. Moody
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first-time reading Kay L. Moody and I have to say it was not what I was expecting. Flame and Crystal Thorns was one of the first Fae books that I have read. The world of Fae hasn’t been a world I’m that familiar with. After reading this book I found out that this a spin off from The Fae of Bitter Thorn series, that gives more background to the characters in this novel. Even though you can read this book without reading the other series I think I would have understood the book better. Chole isn’t the normal main character I am used to which was a change for me that’s for sure. This book left a great cliff hanger that leaves me wanting more. I am ready to read what come next for these characters.

Savage Secrets (Mafia Elite, book 4) by Amy McKinley – Review by Heather Watson

Savage Secrets (Mafia Elite, #4)Savage Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

McKinley doesn’t disappoint with the fourth installment of this Mafia series. I got to find out about new characters Elena and Marco. This book has a lot of twists in it, and I was unable to put it down. I was glad to see answers from previous books, all while leaving it open to keep the story going. I am really loving this series. It is interesting how each of these characters find true love. These men love these women and will lay their lives on keeping the save and that includes Elena and Marco. This book can stand alone but I would recommend reading the previous books to better understand the other characters. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out by Amy McKinley is the first installment of the Mafia series. I really liked how the series started. This was a book that left opens for more stories to come. I hope the continue reads will answer the questions that are left unsaid in this book. I was surprised at how things twist in Max and Lil’s story, it made interesting to see what was going to happen next. I couldn’t put this book down once I got past the slow begin. I am ready to continue reading this series to find out what happens next with this character loaded book.

Collateral Damage (Mafia Elite Series Book 6) by Amy McKinley – Review by Heather Watson

Collateral Damage: A Second Chance Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite Book 6)Collateral Damage: A Second Chance Mafia Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Collateral Damage is the sixth installment of the Mafia series by Amy McKinley. She just keeps surprising me with the stories for each character. Trey being the Mafia doctor I never really thought about him having someone to love and protect until reading his story. McKinley really pulled these characters together. Hailey may have fallen to fast for the beloved Trey but he’s hard not to love. This book isn’t as action packed as the others but still a great read. I am ready for more and fall in love with all these characters more as she keeps going with this series.

Born In Darkness (Mafia Elite Series Book 3) by Amy McKinley – Review by Heather Watson

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite, #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great read from Amy McKinley. I like how the story unfolds more with every installment she writes. The story continues but can be read alone, but to know more about the other characters and keep them straight I would read them in order. I like how as I read, I learn about each character, and how they are individual in their own way even though they are part of the Five Families. I am ready for the next book to see what happens next.

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite Series Book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Heather Watson

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Oath is the second installment to the Elite Mafia series by Amy McKinley and a good read to continue the story. I am glad that with the second book it focuses on a new set of characters but still has the ones from the first one. McKinley does a great job keeping me interested with this series. This maybe the second book to the series you can be read on its own, which I do like. I am ready to keep reading this series and see what happens next with the new set of characters as well as the characters that I have already read about.

Blood & Ravens (The Casket Girls Series Book 1) by A.D. Brazeau – Review by Heather Watson

Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance (The Casket Girls Book 1)Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance by A.D. Brazeau
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood and Ravens by A.D. Brazeau is the first book of the “Casket Girl” series as well as my first book by this author. Blood and Ravens is filled with vampires, demons, and Gods. I was pulled into this story wanting to know what was going to happen next. I was surprised at the twist in this story. I liked how the story took place in a late period, but I could still relate. I haven’t ever heard of the Casket Girls but was very interested in what these girls were carrying. I will have to read the next installment to see what happens next with the love between Greer and Theron and if we will see anymore twists to the story.

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending Book 1) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Heather Watson

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read by Nicole Baily, and I have to say it was not what I was expecting. I am not familiar with the original story of Apollo and Prince Hyacinth, so I believe that it made this reading a little easier for me to enjoy the story. Since reading this book I have had to look up the original story so I can see where the author got her inspiration. The writing and character development was great. I liked the fact that she changed the point of view throughout the story. It gives the reader a chance to learn about the main characters. The cover really jumped out at me, while not giving way any of the story. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series to see what happens next.

Sashimi (Evil Sushi #2)Sashimi by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Sashimi” is the second book of the “Evil Sushi” series by C. A. King. I was glad I did some research and read “Evil Sushi before reading this book. I would have been lost trying to figure out what was going on. This book picks right up when the first leaves off. The action continues in this story as we learn more about the characters. There are defiant unexpected twists and turns in this book. I will be picking up the next installment of this story. I have to know what happens next.

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Book 1) by C.A. King – Review by Heather Watson

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi #1)Evil Sushi by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Evil Sushi is the first book of the series by C. A. King. I haven’t read anything by King before. This book was very different from what I’m used to reading. It is a different take on the ocean life than I had expected. Reading this book makes me think about how the world treats our planet. This was an original story, and I was wondering where this story was going to. The author chose a good place to end this story but left enough for the opening to the next installment. With all the action in this book I will have to see where the story will go.

Ruthless Heir (Mafia Elite Book 5) by Amy McKinley – Review by Heather Watson

Ruthless Heir: An Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite, #5)Ruthless Heir: An Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This isn’t the first book of the series, but it’s the first one I have read. That being said I didn’t feel like I was starting in the middle of the story. Now that I have read this one and loved the story I will have to go back and read the first four. McKinley did a great job writing this story to where it could stand on its own. I want more of the Luc and Summer’s story so I am hoping that she will write more about them. I really liked how she worked all the characters into the story with a purpose. Evolving the women just as well as the men really added to the story. Can’t wait to read more by Amy McKinley.

Deacon (Saints vs Sinners Series) by CJ Warrant – Review by Heather Watson

Deacon (Saints vs Sinners Series Book 1)Deacon by CJ Warrant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first-time reading CJ Warrant, and it is a great way to start off a series. I don’t usually read books without a supernatural something in it, but this one was good. I was hooked to the well written characters in this book. It was hard for me to put down. This book is full of twists that I couldn’t wait to see where it was going to go. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next with Deacon and Olivia. This book does have triggers, but this author has a well written storyline. I will definitely be on the look out for the next installment to this series.

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack Book 1) by Nicole Howl – Review by Heather Watson

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack, #1)Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

  1. Claiming My Mate is the first book of the Wolf Hollow Pack series. This is the first time I have read Nichole Howl. I’m always looking for new authors to read. This book was an easy and fast read, and it didn’t take me long to get hooked. Lily and Jason’s story is a love story that leaves me wanting more. The story had me believing things were one way but as Jason is getting ready to take the throne, he wants things to change. The only thing I would like to see in the books to come is that the author slows the story down and offer more details. Otherwise, this is a great read, and I can’t wait for the next installment to see where the story goes.View all my reviews
