No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Helen Woodhull Parsons

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out by Amy McKinley was a pleasant surprise. I don’t believe I have read Mafia Romances before and found out I really liked the concept. There is something intriguing about rooting for the “bad guys” that makes the story more captivating.

Lily wants a way out of her father’s prison. She can tell there is something going down and wants to get a head of the game. She puts her trust into a new face and follows her instincts.

This book has unexpected twists and turns and is a great kick off to a new series.

Raven Woman’s Tavern by Laura Koerber – Review by Helen Woodhull Parsons

Raven Woman's TavernRaven Woman’s Tavern by Laura Koerber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is set slightly in the future in Warrentown. A baren place with very few residents and they are mostly the elderly.

One night the tavern gets a visit from a few militia members and that when things get stirred up. They get drunk and annoying and try to make a scene to spice up the boring evening.

The militia members get lost on the way home on the same road they drove to get to Warrentown. They are left battling each other and their surroundings to survive. As one member gets removed from the group he doesn’t realize it will forever change his life.

Raven Woman’s Tavern is the first book I have read from Laura Koerber but definitely will not be the last. Thanks for an Intriguing read.

Two very steamy quick reads.

Beneath the Sheets is a sexy reunion with two lovers that haven’t seen each other since prom. Upon seeing each other again the passion reignites.

LM Mountford can definitely ignite passion with words.

I am once again sucked into a wonderful suspenseful story about love and second chances. The leads characters in this book can be touched on a personal level and makes this book a must read! Suspense, love, action and history make a good one two punch combo that makes this a page turner.
Can’t wait to read more West books in the future!

A Divided Mind (The Divided Series Book 1) by M. Billiter – Review by Helen Woodhull Parsons

A Divided MindA Divided Mind by M. Billiter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I wasn’t sure what I would think about this book when I first picked it up.
Turns out, I had a lot to learn.
Reading Branson’s inner thoughts while he was dealing with his inner demons was a true eye-opening experience.
I really enjoyed getting two experiences through this book. Branson and Tara’s separate but same journey throughout this book had me reading this in one setting. One cannot assume or fathom what the other is feeling and why.
Turns our hind sight can really change the outcome of a story.
I hope to read the next installment of this story really soon.

Master Tuscano (Masters of the Consulate Book 2) by Sylvia Black – Review by Helen Woodhull Parsons

Master TuscanoMaster Tuscano by Sylvia Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forbidden Love, bad choices and second chances!
Master Tuscano is just as good as Master Descallia if not better.
In this book the Syndicate, witches, shifters, rogue vampires and Consulate seem to all have their own agendas. These additional characters add to the story very well.

Delilah ran off with the witches because she was denied the life with Christian that she wanted by the Consulate. She seeks refuge with the witches who treat her kind, even though they have a long-standing vendetta with the vampires.
When Christian found her after her abduction, he seeks revenge. He doesn’t realize she wants her own revenge. That is, until she keeps disobeying his direct orders and darn the consequences! (Even though she enjoys the consequences very much 😉)

The Syndicate, the witches, the shifters, rogue vampires and the Consulate seem to all have their own agendas. These additional characters add to the story very well.

Descallia: Dark Vampire Romance (Masters of the Consulate Book 1)Descallia: Dark Vampire Romance by Sylvia Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First you have a brave Heroin with attitude to boot! Lucianna jumps in feet first to try and find the missing women and finds herself attached to a Vampire Overlord in the process.
Salvatore has his work cut out for him with Lucianna and the desire to protect and save her, if even from herself. He is used to his word being obeyed without hesitation, until her.
There definitely is a plot twist that I didn’t see coming and hopefully it surprises you as well. I have read many Vampire Novels and Sylvia has made the Masters of the Consulate a series I do not want to miss a single Novel from!
Thank you, Sylvia, for the good read and keep this series going! Can’t wait to read what comes next.

Repair (Rescue Me #1; The Everyday Heroes World)Repair by Trish Williford
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Trish is a new author to me and she didn’t disappoint. Charlie and Tank’s story was a great quick read! The story is sweet and sexy with relatable emotions. The characters are intriguing and likeable.

Charlie felt she had the perfect life until she got blindsided. Once she gets out she realizes she had blinders on in her relationship and she wasn’t as happy as she thought herself. This opens her up to be Charlie again! Her move back home was exactly what she needed.

I will definitely be picking up more books of Trish’s to read.

Sinful Daughter (Dark Mafia Sins Book 1) by Emily Bowie – Review by Helen Woodhull Parsons

Sinful DaughterSinful Daughter by Emily Bowie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hello Mafia romance!!
I absolutely love a forbidden romance story. Aria and Theo are completely overtaken with their feelings for each other. They try to fight to that their romance is forbidden but cannot help themselves. You have suspense and unexpected plot twists. Emily nails it with her telling of Aria and Theo’s story. When you get so involved in the story that you find yourself rooting for the “bad guys” is the best kind of experience.
I hope her next book answers some questions that she leaves hanging with this book.

Avenging Devil Part 2: Satan's Devils MC San DiegoAvenging Devil Part 2: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Avenging Devil Part 2 definitely lived up to Manda’s nail biting ending that was in Part 1. Saffie and Niran have the biggest roller coaster of emotions throughout these two books. It is super easy to feel a connection to all the characters in this series and it makes you feel as though you are a member of their MC. Talk about learning the true meaning of club family! You will get a great glimpse of that by the time you finish this book. I will never hesitate to pick up a Manda Mellet book.
I love reading series that you get updates of previous characters you have already read about. Thank you Manda for always giving such wonderful characters to read about!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Avenging Devil Part 1 is the third in the Satan’s Devil MC San Diego series and WOW! This book is emotional and hits on some very sensitive subjects but that in no way deflects from the story. Saffie and Niran seem to have everything stacked against them. She is scared of MC’s and rightfully so. He cannot get his head around why it is so important for him to make sure Saffie is safe. Heads up: this book has a heck of a cliff hanger! I cannot read the next book fast enough!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Grumbler!! I cannot say how much I have fallen for this man and am so happy he has finally found his path in Life!!
I wasn’t 100% sure how I was going to feel about “older” main characters but between Being Lost and Grumbler’s Rider, I am impressed. I have found I do not mind the character’s ages as long as it is a good read. Manda has not failed in her story lines for the San Diego chapter and I am completely looking forward to reading more of her MC books!

Shield & Shade (Ascended Guardians Book 1) by Misty Hayes – Review by Helen Parsons

Shield & ShadeShield & Shade by Misty Hayes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Following Zoey’s emotional turmoil learning her family drama is quite exhilarating! She realizes what truly happened ten years ago when she got lost in the woods. Characters that you don’t like at first surprise you. This book is a wonderful YA read and needs to be given 5 stars!
It’s not a super-fast read but you won’t want to put it down.
I really enjoy when books switch POV during reading so you can get more than one characters inner dialogue.

I did not realize this was a spin off of the Blood Dagger books and now I can’t wait to read that series.

Forged by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #3)Forged by Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amy does an amazing job at captivating her audience with a book that is just impossible to stop reading once you start reading. Forged by Secrets is the absolute perfect ending to a trilogy about brothers and the women they have fallen in love with. Tyler is chasing the shot of loving a woman that is too scared to be loved. Malina is scared of her past but when push comes to shove she realizes the one person she can truly count on is the one person she is terrified to rely on because she is unsure she could handle him hurting her too. Truly recommend reading the entire series.
