Fiddle and Fire is Book Two in the Hearts of Gold series. It is a steamy MMF historical romance novel set in early San Francisco. The story centers around the characters of Suzette, Walter and Isaac who find themselves attracted to one another.

Walter and Isaac are best friends who have travelled across the country together and settled into San Francisco. Walter is secretly in love with Isaac but afraid to tell him for fear of the feelings not being reciprocated. At that time in San Francisco there were very few women so when Suzette blows into town both men find themselves attracted to her. Suzette is drawn to each man for different reasons and finds it hard to choose between them. She also seems to be the missing piece to their puzzle as she ignites the spark between Walter and Isaac. The solution seems to be for her to be with both men and that way she will not be forced to choose. The only problem is that Suzette has some dark secrets from her past that will threaten to ruin everything.

I loved the historical backdrop for the storyline and found the concept of MMF interesting for the time period it was set in. The characters were interesting and the added detail of Suzette having a dark past added a sense of mystery, danger, and suspense to the book. Her past threatens to destroy them all and puts all three of them in danger. I took away a star because this story was told from multiple points of view which I found a bit hard to follow at times. Overall, an interesting historical romance book.

You’ve got a nice period piece with MMF. This all happens I’m San Francisco when Suzette enters the city. Isaac and Walter have always been there for each other, and have always had this connection. When Suzette came in, she brought up the connection and had them all come together. Then her past comes in with a vengeance. So much happens and it’s great! I didn’t know it was part of a series, so this is a great stand alone!

Interesting historical romance
This ménage/why choose romance set in early San Francisco is filled with mystery, suspense, and old fashioned drama. Suzette, Walter and Isaac’s story, though a little disjointed at times, was entertaining. The author does capture the nuances of the era and presents and overall good story.

Fiddle and Fire has such a slow start for me. I did trek on and did begin to get into it. This was my first mmf based in a certain time period like this one is. I do like that it was a stand-alone but part of a series. The masculinity is so strong and never once do you question it. A nice read for those who love time period pieces and a bit of wild spice mmf.

This was an interesting historical romance. I haven’t read a historical romance with a MMF relationship before so that was unique given the time. The author does a really good job with all 3 main characters. All the information and backstories really helped to bring the characters to life for me. The romance was between Issac, Walter and Suzette is very powerful as Suzette can’t choose between the friends and the whole idea of not having to choose came about. The added danger and Suspense of events when Suzette’s past catches up to her gives this story another level making it more than just a romance.
I did enjoy this read, it was fast paced but at times I got confused when the pov narrative changed between the characters at random times of the book making it a little hard to recognise from who’s point of view I was reading from but overall it was enjoyable and a different take on a historical romance.
I would be interested in reading more from this author as the ideas were new and unique to me.

The Hussar’s Duty is the third book in The Winged Warrior series by Griffin Brady. This is an intriguing historical adventure story with drama, action, romance, angst, danger, family, emotion, plots, agendas, duty/responsibility, tension, loyalties, challenges, and more.
Jacek is one of the most fearless and dedicated winged warriors, and when his country calls him back to the battlefield he is torn between his honor as a formidable Polish soldier with a duty to his country, and love- his obligation to his family. It seems that no matter what he chooses the price will be high. What happens makes for an intriguing read.
I appreciated Griffin Brady’s attention to detail and wonderfully descriptive writing which brought the whole story to life right before my eyes. The historical detailing was on-point and easily captured my attention, pulling me into the story and transporting me to the 17th century where I stayed fully immersed in the developments as the story unfolded. It is apparent that the author has spent a lot of time researching the era and it shows in her attention to detail.

Wow what more can I say. This is the first book by this author I have read and man was I blown away. I like steamy romances and this really hit the spot. I found the author to have a very unique story line and really brought the characters to life. I also found that the author was able to use the character’s chemistry to enhance the book. By bringing historical romance added with the threesome really added to this. I was on the edge of my chair wanting to know how it all would end. There was enough drama added into the romance that it didn’t feel like it was too much. The characters really complimented one another as well as brought a depth to the book. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed reading their romance story. I look forward to seeing what is next for them. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. This is a story where the past comes to the present and safety is put in question. There is a suspenseful aspect to this story as well as the steamy romance. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world. They are engaging, supportive characters that added so much to the story. They had me coming back for more as well as sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. I enjoyed the growth of the characters as well as the plot throughout which made the story easy and entertaining to read. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it

I like period pieces, but at the same time I don’t. Being Fiddle and Fire was a period MMF romance, I figured I’d give it a chance. And you know what, I enjoyed it. I struggled at the beginning getting into it, but I pushed through and fell in love with these characters.
This is the second book in the Hearts of Gold Series. A series where, yeah I would like to go back and read book 1, but I don’t have too. I, personally, enjoy reading series in order. However, when I come across a series where each book could very well be a standalone novel, I do start out of order, till I have a chance to go back to the beginning and I read the whole series start to finish.
Suzette, Isaac, and Walter are 3 characters to love. Issac I loved from the get go. Walter seemed like a great friend. And Suzette to start wasn’t that pleasant. Each their own. Each brings a different personality to the table. Each personality compliments the other. They are perfect for each other. But how does one navigate this type of relationship? As Suzette finds out pretty easily despite some hesitancy.
No book is complete without drama, and one will always say. Unresolved past could come back to haunt you. Unfortunately for Suzette that wasn’t entirely her fault. It’s how they navigate that challenge to get through.

When orders are given that place the entire alliance in peril, Jacek must decide where his loyalty truly lies. I LOVE this series. The description of the characters, estates, and battles is sensational! I highly recommend this book, and the series.

This was a book I couldn’t put down. Jacek’s journey was tough and it kept me engaged it in this story until the end. He had to choose between career or family.That’s always a touch one. Well-written, this book takes you to a place that we have never been. It’s an amazing story that just left me wanting more more. I have read each of the author’s books in this series and they are so good. This is just as good. The characters are so uniquely genuine and even based in 17th century, they are relatable. This is a must read if you love historical fiction.

The Hussar’s Duty is book 3 in The Winged Warrior Series. It can be read alone, but you should start with the first book, The Heart of a Hussar. This historical romance is set in 17th century Poland in a time when there where an elite cavalry the Winged Hussars.
Griffin passion on the subject, history and time is clearly evident in the narrative in this intriguing story. The characters are fully realised and well written and it is hard not to get drawn into their journey in a time of war. Each page reveals layers of history making it a fascinating read.
Jacek is torn between duty and family when he learns of another mission.
Griffin’s narrative paints a multi-layered and vivid picture of life and times in this period piece. The story is original and unique.

What an enjoyable pretty easy read historical romance with a twist of the forbidden. <br />A great story based in the early days of San Francisco, where the men outnumber the women. <br />We follow Isaac and Walter, both men are strong individuals with a full friendship based on years together travelling and working. How music, construction, furniture building and friends can all play a part in the feelings, friendships and relationships. <br />When the newest lady to move to the area Suzette De Massey arrives from France with her brother, her past is not far behind her, and sparks sure do fly when she is introduced properly to Walter and Isaac. <br />The normality of tri relationships instead of couples, their immediate friends and love for music and each other all bring the story easy though from beginning to end, throw in the angst of kidnapping, shanghaiing of men to work the trade routes, missing family members, intrigue and suspense also have a part to play.<br />Will Suzette get away from her past, will her future be with one or two men, will her brother survive his gambling way and many more questions are answered. <br />I look forward to reading more from this author.<br /><br />

Women are hard to come by in early San Francisco, where attitudes are generally accommodating. Suzette de Massey enters the city like a wildfire amid this laissez-faire way of life, and Isaac Stark and Walter James are immediately drawn to the gifted French beauty. The two of them are opposite in many ways, but they have been best friends for years. They are deeply devoted to one another and owe one another their very life. Suzette is caught between Isaac, whom she perceives as a roughneck, and Walter, whom she perceives as a gentleman. She still has a lot to learn, but she is aware of her interests. Men. Together. Isaac and Walter’s long-simmering chemistry is rekindled by Suzette, and the three of them together become a fiery, passionate trio..

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a unique paranormal romance. The story brings passion into your life. I couldn’t put the book down. I had to binge-read the series.

This was a different choice for me. Not really into historic romances. This one was not exactly what I expected. It was good. Some surprises along the way.

Isaac and Walter have been friends since Isaac jumped into Walter’s wagon. They journeyed across the country together and settled in San Francisco. Together their friendship has grown. They are firefighters. They are business partners. They are BFFs. Isaac doesn’t know that Walter is also secretly in love with him. Walter doesn’t want to tell him in case Isaac doesn’t feel the same.

Suzette wasn’t even supposed to make the journey to San Francisco. She was banished to America with her brother, a rogue, to avoid scandal. Once in SanFran, Suzette falls for both Isaac and Walter. She won’t choose. Suzette believes she will never have love. Isaac and Walter don’t make her choose. They offer her a new option, love them both. Suzette explains that she can’t. She may or may not be married. Neither Isaac nor Walter care. They just want to be together.

When the missing possible husband from France shows, drama ensues. Problems arise. Pistols are drawn. Threats are made. When Isaac and Walter have to rescue Suzette from a ship bound for France, tragedy occurs. It is beautiful chaos.

This might not have been my normal but there was enough steam and fun to keep the pages flipping. If you like historical romances, you will like this one.

This memoir was a little disjointed to me, with seemingly random thoughts and words mixed in which made little sense. I felt like the author is telling this story in an oddly detached way. Maybe things were lost in translation. Despite this fragmented feeling, I found myself connecting to the author, Nadija, and her family. Going from relative normalcy to an all out war in such a short time, Nadija’s life is changed so drastically. Being so young and having to experience such horrific events would have been extremely difficult; my heart broke for the innocence left in young Nadija that was so quickly ripped away. So much death, hatred, fear, and many, many bombs. This book shows the strength of the human spirit, the devastation along with the innocence, and the toughness to endure hardships and war. Overall, a good, nonfiction read.

I really liked the plot and the unfolding events in this story. The author did a great job of slowly introducing us to a romantic situation that isn’t considered the norm. It helped us to see how something like this might have happened in this period of time. I really liked the way the characters are developed as well. I found this read to be original in not only the time we are reading, but the way the events unfolded. Great read!

Nadija Mujagic’s voice is so memorable in this memoir that I felt I was right there with her during the Bosnian War in Sarajevo. I was in tears as I read the true tales of her sorrowful experience. I cannot even imagine having to grow up so fast, due to all of the horrors she had to see and live through. What a fantastic job she has done in putting her experience into her own words as if she is right here retelling me the woes of her experience. I was in awe that someone so young could live to tell her story. This is absolutely a must-read tear-jerker tale of a fantastic woman coming of age in the most unexpected circumstances who grew well beyond her years. The tragedies that she had to live through are just so heartbreaking, this is the type of story that will stay with you and leave a lasting impression. The descriptions of everything are so realistic, and the development of the characters is beautifully portrayed, you will grow attached and then have to say goodbye so many times.

I’ve read books about war. I’m a history buff, it’s my thing. But reading first hand accounts of what it was like to go through a war zone and deal with the aftermath of war always hits different.

This is an amazing book. The author is very detailed, and it’s like walking through a room of memories and watching as the author gingerly shows you pieces of her life. This is a book about resilience, strength, and overcoming some of the hardest things in life, and I highly reccomend!

Nadija Mujagic recounts her teenage years growing up in Sarajevo during the war in the 1990’s. She tells of the harrowing days and nights when the shells kept coming and hearing the next morning of her friends who became casualities of this unnecessary war. The telling of the countless times she and her family had to move, often times seperated, just to stay safe. Nadija was denied an opportunity to attend school most of this time as well.

I am roughly the same age as Nadija and this book really put some things in perspective for me. While I was enjoying life in the US, she and her family were literally fighting for theirs. I had three meals a day while she was fortunate to get a crumb at times. This book will give the reader pause at times, in which time can be spent being thankful for the opportunities that have been experienced in a different place.

It’s been quite a long time since I have had a book touch my heart the way Ten Thousand Shells and Counting has. This is a heart-wrenching, compelling memoir of Nadija Mujagic’s experience through a horrifying war in Sarajevo. The inconceivable recount from Nadija is absolutely bone-chilling as she narrates what it was like to lose her childhood home, her family members, and life on the run. I found myself taking a few moments to reflect multiple times throughout this book as sometimes it just seemed impossible to find a new normal on the other side of this horrendous war. I must say that it was also the most inspiring to read the takeaways this young woman found in the face of adversity. This gut-wrenching memoir is definitely worth your time and reflection told by such a brave soul.

Ten Thousand Shells & Counting by Nadija Mujagic is a true story recounting the experiences of a young teenage girl in Sarajevo during wartime in the 90s. I could hardly put this book down once I started reading. This story invoked so many emotions for me. My heart ached so much for all the grief and pain Nadija endured during this time while still just trying to live life as normally as possible. As time goes on, she turns to acting out and taking to adult habits as her morale struggles to shatter under the weight of these confusing and saddening times. If memoirs on war interest you at all, I highly recommend taking this journey with Nadjia.

Ten Thousand Shells and Counting: A Heart-wrenching and Riveting War Memoir (Book 1) by Nadija Mujagic is a story about the author and her family living their lives in Sarajevo as it is besieged by war. This story is potent and heart-breaking as it shows how people have to go on with some semblance of life as they navigate death, destruction, and loss all around them. The author takes right along with her as she retells the story of her childhood that was stolen from her by the senseless violence of war. This is an amazing story of survival that everyone should read at least once.

This one was a huge struggle for me. The story seems disjointed at times and filled with displaced random thoughts. I struggled to stay focused and did a lot of skimming as the book moved along. I could not become invested in her life as a result of this. I don’t read a ton of memoirs and maybe thats the problem with my struggle to connect. I expected a timeline and not just randomness.

I did enjoy the last line or so at the end of each chapter. They seemed thought provoking. Chapter 23 was my favorite because it was written with feeling and it evoked feelings in me. The pictures at the end were a nice addition.

I absolutely love reading books that tell a story about the struggles, horror, and what it’s like going through the civil war. Ten Thousand Shells and Counting was a storying being told of a civil war that took place in the late 20th century. The book was beautifully written. The world building and details was amazing in this story. If you love a good book about what it’s like going through a war, I highly recommend this book.

Nadija Mujagic writes an incredible heartwrenching memoir about her tumultuous life as she survives the Bosnian war. The book was well-paced and well-written. It really opened my eyes to the impact the war had on the people. It was an honest portrayal pf the experience of the citizens within Bosnia as neighbors turned against each other and their worlds were torn apart. I would highly recommend this book.

Ten Thousand Shells and Counting is a very good read. As you read this memoir, you can actually imagine what the war was like for a teenager. The descriptions of what war is like is very eye opening.
