This is the first murder mystery book that I have ever read. I was surprised by the murder I was following. I had thought it was the one I started off reading then the story took a turn, and it ended up connected. I surprised myself by being able to read this one because of the old writing but I pushed through it. I wanted to see who really committed the murder then I couldn’t put it down. If you are ready for a murder mystery then this is the book for you, I really hope the author gives us more to the story to find out about the love stories that are brewing.

This was a really good book! While the mystery was fairly predictable in my opinion, it was well written and enthralling enough to catch my attention and hold it. I enjoyed the characters and I felt like the author did a good job keeping it historically accurate while also making the book easy to read. It didn’t feel like a quick read to me, but nevertheless I still enjoyed it and will definitely be checking out more books from this author in the future!

Murder on Oak Street is book one in the A South Shore Mystery Series. I truly enjoyed reading this Historical Mystery that once I started reading I had a hard time putting it down. I’m fairly new to this author but I’m definitely going to check out what other books they have written. This is a fast paced story that is packed with action, suspense, drama and so much. The twists and turns had me turning the pages trying to figure out what was going to happen next. What will happen when old files are open and new murder happens Are they both somehow connected? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I don’t want to give away anything. I think its better enjoyed going in not knowing what is going to happen. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

It’s like 3 different stories in 1. I truly enjoyed all 3 main characters and thought they were well developed. This was such a good well written easy read. I honestly can’t wait to continue reading this series. I was hooked chapter one, and it literally kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I read it in 2 nights and was honestly itching to get back to it during the work day. The writing was so engaging, I thought that I had figured things out a few times and yet was so off base each time. Can’t wait for book 2.

Road to the Mansfield is a 3 part story. Francie is the first story we read. If you have ever heard Fancy by Reba McIntire, that’s basically the plot to the story. She is basically sent to a whorehouse when her mom is dying where she is expected to work for her room and board. She has a beautiful voice and negotiates her freedom, by being the entertainment instead. She has a hard life but remains strong and breaks free. She then negotiates a deal for herself to be a singer in a nightclub. We then hop to the next story, of Rose. Rose is young, just 18 and is blinded by what she believes to be love. She is desperate to leave her Podunk town, that she runs away with a man she’s known less than 3 weeks. He turns out as we expect and treats her badly. Both Rose and her husband end up working at the Mansfield. As we see Rose’s marriage deteriorate, we see her friendship grow with Ruby. The last part of the story is quite different. It focuses on Beau, a lawyer. His story is a bit shorter, but eventually he too winds up at the Mansfield, but not yet meeting Ruby and Rose. The book was amazing and I loved it. I am not happy with the ending. Total cliff hanger…. but Book 2 comes out in 1 week so I don’t have long to wait for the continued story. While researching, I saw the author was inspired by Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson music video for Because of You… and it all makes sense. I can see it and she did wonderful expanding a 3 minute music video into what I anticipate to be a wonderful series.

This is book one in The Express Investigations series. Very well written. Perfectly paced, historical crime novel with plenty of suspense and drama. Great characters, it kept me interested the entire read and definitely wanting more. I loved that it was three stories, yet all brought together. An absolute must read.

Oh I really enjoyed this book! 3 different stories about 3 different people that all come together on one night. Having different POV’s is my favorite!! You get everyone’s thoughts and I love that! Makes a book great in my opinion! The way the author describes everything is absolute perfection and it’s like I can feel what the characters are feeling. The twists and turns…I’m here for it. I was hooked on this book and I’ll be looking at more of this authors writing. Huge page turner for me and I’m so glad I gave this book a chance. This genre isn’t usually one I read..but I’m far from disappointed!

Part 2 blew part 1 out of the water! This author is an amazing story teller and has taken us on such an exciting journey in part 2. Thrilling, suspenseful, dramatic, and intriguing. Nick and Julia are a great couple and as they stick together and continue to be thick as thieves in this adventure you can’t help but be as excited and determined as they are to find a solution and to free his beloved Della. After this book Italy and art will never look the same again.

I didn’t like this book. I loved it! The magic, the beauty, the history, the incredible writing, it was great! This book grabs you from the start and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Very hard to put down! I read this alone, not following the first in the series, but now want to check out the first. I also will be looking for more books by this author for sure!

This is book #2 in the series and it definitely did not disappoint!! Highly recommended to read the first book before picking up book two as this story really evolves and flows into the second book. This book makes me want to visit Venice…the art and culture itself!!
Nick and Julia O’Connor have been captured! Going home was the goal but Interpol had other plans. This book is full twists, turns, history, art and action!! This authors attention to detail is just phenomenal and I am looking forward and being hopeful with a 3rd book :).

This is the second book in this series which I enjoyed just as much as the first if not more. This is a well written story where the author used details to make the story realistic. A story that is fast paced, engaging and hard to put down. A story with mystery and where the past may have a link to current events. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story from the start. I found them to have great growth throughout the story. You don’t want to miss what happens in this story. This book is a ride and is definitely not long enough. Even though it is set in 1904 New York, Daniel O’Halleran, a coroner’s physician, proves to be a relatable character, nonetheless. It is not hard to slip right into the mind of Daniel and experience the plot right along with him. You will be just as surprised as he is with the twists and turns this story takes. It definitely has all the elements that a good mystery should include. I had never read any work by this author before I picked up this book, but it will not be the last. Even if you don’t usually pick up a mystery, I would suggest giving this book a try. I will be eagerly awaiting the second book!

I enjoyed reading this mystery. This is a shorter story that packs a lot of mystery. This is my first book by this author which I look forward to reading more from in the future. This is a story that takes place during the 1900s. Daniel is looking into a mystery in his spare time until a second murder happens. Now he is wondering if they are both connected. He is a great character, strong and kept the story engaging. He brought so much to the story. This is a fast paced story that is both entertaining and easy to read. I read this book in one sitting and enjoyed the twists and turns. You don’t want to miss what happens in this story. I highly recommend this book.

Murder on Oak Street seems to be a typical who dun it? Well that is till you get into it. Reality it’s an investigation within an investigation. The author keeps you guessing, especially when you think it’s about one death yet about 40% of the way through the meat of the story happens. It gives me Agatha Christie vibes. Though I’ll be honest I struggled at the beginning. I couldn’t stay interested but I pushed on. Once I start a book I do everything in my power to see it through. The author kept me invested as it went on. Dr. Daniel O’Halleran just recently transferred to this Long Island town, needing a change of scenery. Little did he realize a case that he worked on two years prior that left him unsettled would be coming right back to the forefront. This was his chance to get it right. But when Thomas Brissedon is found dead he’s tasked with being the lead to find the answers. Unfortunately he feels strongly that Cornelius Desmond’s demise is connected. So now we circle back to who dun it? Was it Colin Brissedon? Thomas’ son who was promiscuous and an uncontrolled gambler. Was it Patrick Desmond? Thomas’ troubled stepson who strongly believes Thomas had something to do with his father’s death? Was it Jeremy Radcliffe? Nephew of the deceased who is a drunkard and just as promiscuous as Colin. Was it Kathleen Brissedon? Thomas’ daughter who is a kind and gentle soul, who loves her father unconditionally. That’s just a few of the prime suspects, now who do you think it is? If you like murder mystery books then jump in and decide who you think brought Thomas to his demise. The author’s witty take in the novel makes it a worthwhile leap to take.

I didn’t know what to expect from this book, but I thought it sounded interesting, so I gave it a shot. The author is a historian, so the historical aspects are done well. Unfortunately, I had difficulty sticking with the book, as the story felt like it was dragging in some places. I found myself wanting to skim through to get to the more intriguing parts. This book was not a great fit for me, but if you are a fan of historical mysteries, this will likely be a must-read to put on your TBR.

This was a great continuation of the series. I am so glad I got the chance to read both. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I had a hard time putting it down and doing other things, I was so invested in what would happen next. My favorite is the vivid descriptions, I hope I get a chance to see Venice one day.

I really enjoyed this book. This is a new to me author and I really liked her writing style, I found it to be really engaging and my interest was definitely kept from beginning to end. I love historical reads and a do love a good murder mystery so thought I would give this book a go and I’m so glad I did. Daniel was a great character to read about – I really liked him. The time period and setting for the story was really great, I’ve not read many historical novels set in New York. Overall this was a gripping read and one that I would highly recommend to other readers who enjoy a good murder mystery!

Painter of the Damned is not the typical genre that I read. I was pleasantly surprised about how much I enjoyed the book. This is the second book in Rob Samborn’s series Painted Souls. I could not put this book down for fear of missing some amazing action. Samborn takes the reader on an action-packed adventure set in 1589 AD. Painter of the Damned includes historical aspects that draw the reader further into the story. If you are looking for a great action-packed adventure, look no further! I promise you will not regret reading the Painted Souls series.

Painter of the Damned is the second book in the Painted Souls series. The series should be read in order for a proper understanding. In this continuation, Nick continues on his mission to attempt to rescue the souls which have been imprisoned in the painting Paradise. Nick makes a deeper connection with his past life Angelo, and all Angelo wants is to be reunited with his love, Isabella, who is in Paradise. Julia, Nick’s wife struggles with accepting what seems like something that can be real, but is actually happening. Della Porta is busy with his mission to advance the Order’s power to become a world religion. Will Nick accomplish his goal, or will Della Porta continue imprisoning more people for eternity with the help of the new painter, his nephew, Carlo? This story balances a good amount of angst with excellent world building. I’m looking forward to reading the third book already!

This was a really good sequel! I think this one was just as good as the first. It had the thrills, suspense, mystery and action all like the first one did. I’m not sure exactly which one I enjoyed more, they both have great qualities to the story that made it enjoyable. I actually missed this little historical adventure after the first book so I was very excited to get to dive back into the world. If you like historical crime mystery books, then these are definitely for you!

I had a hard time believing that this book would be better than the first since it was so amazing, but Painter of the Damned was absolutely stunning! I was engrossed in this book from the very first page to the very end.
Nick and Julia leave Venice with hopes of returning to a somewhat normal life after their terrifying ordeal called their honeymoon. With peace of mind setting in as they start heading home, they are apprehended before they can truly start their journey. They find out the person behind their capture is Salvatore, their worst nightmare. Salvatore intends to use Nick to obtain an all-knowing powerful book. Julia tries to help keep her husband sane in midst of this horrendous experience, but is her love enough to keep him tied to this world?
I can’t recommend this series enough! The author has woven an intricate blend of history and other worldly things that command your attention to the last word. You won’t be disappointed picking this up!

Painter of the Damned is the second book in the Painted Souls series. Let me recommend reading the first book in this series before delving into this one. Nick and Julia are back and trying to get out of Italy but get waylaid. This is a fantastic book that kept me up late into the night. There is a dual timeline between the current day and the 16th century. I enjoyed the story and how it continued developing from the first book. I won’t say more about the plot because I do not want to take anything away from anyone else reading the book. If you enjoy historical fiction, art, thrills, and chills this is a great read to grab. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Painter of the Damned (Painted Souls Book 2) by Rob Samborn. I loved this first book and this one was no different. I flew through the pages as fast as I possibly could. Its such a good thriller. Its the story of Nick and Julia O’Conner who are trying to make it back to the USA from a vacation from hell. They have been thru murders, arrests and all kinds of mayhem. They make it almost to the border when they are arrested. Julia is freed but Nick is charged with murder and sent back to Venice. Nick sends Julia to find Carlo to help her find an attorney for him but little does he know he’s sent Julia right to the enemies camp. Carlo is the new painter for the new order and he may be behind all the chaos. This book has flashbacks of Nick’s life and tells parts of the story. You need to really pay attention to know what’s going on and also I highly recommend reading the 1st book before this one. It makes it so much more enjoyable. Pick up a copy of this book and get ready for a high speed ride you won’t soon forget!

Nick and Julia O’Conner are on the run trying to return home to the United States to put an end to the hell of a vacation that they have experienced: murder, arrest, fights, running from the cops. The O’Conner’s were just about to reach the American consulate when the two are arrested and taken into custody. Julia is released from custody and gets to follow along as Nick is transferred back to Venice where he is detained for murder. Nick tells Julia to go find Carlo, their friend in Venice, and have him help to find an attorney for Nick. Little do they know that Carlo is the new Painter for the Order and warden of the dammed spirits that reside in the painting Paradise. We get flashbacks of Nick’s previous life and find out that he may or may not know the location of a book lost that can bring about world-changing power. Will della Porta find be able to use Nick to find the book? Does Nick remember where the book is? Should Julia just return to the States by herself and not believe this nonsense that her husband speaks of? Read the book because I give no spoilers into the outcome! It is a great read full of thrills and mystery and mayhem! The characters are wonderfully written and I find myself able to quickly fall into step with them and experience what they are. This book had me on the edge of my seat and I highly recommend that one reads it!

Nick and Julia come home from Venice and is trying to get back to ‘normal’. Nick’s soul mate from another lifetime is stuck in a Tintoretto painting along with others. The Order thinks that Nick knows the hiding place of a particular book and is willing to do whatever is needed to get their hands on it.
This book was just as good as the first, keeping me on the edge of my seat!

Painter of the Damned is Book Two in the Painted Souls Series and picks up where book one left off. Nick and Julia are determined to end their nightmare vacation and return home. They have managed to escape Venice and have almost made it to the American consulate when Interpol captures them and swiftly returns them to Venice. Nick is detained and brought forth on charges, but Julia is allowed to go free.
Determined to rescue her husband, Julia enlists the help of Carlo, the young artist that her and Nick met in Venice during their vacation. However, Julia does not know that Carlo is the order’s new painter, and he now controls those damned to spend eternity in Tintoretto’s Renaissance painting, Paradise.
After reading book one, the Prisoner of Paradise, I knew that I needed to read book two. Book one followed both Nick and Julia, but mainly focused on Nick as he was determined to free his soulmate from the Renaissance painting, Paradise. In this book there are multiple point of views, but the story mainly follows Julia as she fights to save Nick from Interpol and the charges brought forth against him. Julia is strong, smart, determined, and will do anything to save him so they can return home and leave this nightmare behind them.
There is non-stop action and suspense throughout and you can feel the sense of danger that lurks around every corner. The author does an exquisite job of describing each scene in detail so vivid that you can visualize it and feel as though you are there with the characters. A heart-pounding, edge of your seat thrill ride that you must read!
