This is the second book in the Painted Souls series and wow these books just keep getting better. These books are a perfect mix of history and mystery all wrapped up. The story flows really well and doesn’t get confusing when it switches between the past and present.

Nick and Julia are our main characters, however the story mainly revolves around Nick and his past life. I would really recommend reading the first book in this series so you get a proper understanding of Nicks story and why him and Julia are in the situation they are now.

After their trip to Venice turned into a scary disaster all they want to do is return home and as far away from Venice as possible. They head to the American consulate however they get stopped and captured before they get there. Interpol is convinced that Nick is hiding secrets from his past life and they plan to get to the truth.
Now it is a race against time for Julia to try and save her husband but without knowing where to turn and who to trust will she even be able to do that? What does Nick remember about the past and is it what his captures are after?

The story is really well woven with past meeting present. The descriptions really bring the characters and Venice to life for me.

Intertwining timelines, thriller, history, magic, and of course romance. This book has it all!

Nick and Julia O’Connor are taking a dream trip to Venice, well due to Nick’s head injury, it was a much needed trip anyways. They find a painting named Paradise and a woman’s voice reaches out to Nick. This voice is a soul mate from a previous life. Julia doesn’t know what to do and thinks it’s all due to Nick’s head injury.

Very well written and it definitely kept me interested to read more!

Road to the Mansfield (Express Investigations Book 1) by CB Laurence

Road to the Mansfield is the first book in the Express Investigations Series and is a suspenseful read that one you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. This is a new author to me but I must say im a fan already. This is one of those books that will have you turning the pages while on the edge of your seat trying to put all the pieces together. This authors style of writing along with their characters make for a wonderful story. This is about three different people and three different stories but one fateful night there worlds collide and no one saw it coming. This is a fast paced story where there’s alot going on but this author did a wonderful job bring everything together . I’m not going to give anything away but I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t hardly wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. I look forward to reading many more books by this author.

This was such a great read. It’s not something I would usually choose to read, but this book I couldn’t put down. I wanted to know what happened next. I highly recommend this book. This story was beautifully written. If you love to read books with thrillers, history, and romance, then this is the book for you!!!

When I started this book I honestly didn’t know what to expect but I was blown away by how fantastic it was. Firstly, I loved the era it was set in. I really felt like I was transported there while reading the book. The fact that the book was also telling three different stories just added so much extra depth to the story.
All of the characters added so much to the storyline. They were interesting and unique, offering a great dynamic between them. They all fit with the timeline and the story that the author was telling. As this first book in the series I feel that the author has started as they mean to go on. This was a strong opening and has enticed me enough to want to read more. I can’t wait to see where this series is going.

Nick and Julia have had enough, trying to get to the American Consulate to get home from the horrendous trip away, but unbeknownst to them Salvatore is hiding in the wings ready to get them transported back to Venice.

Salvatore is convinced that Nick has the lost knowledge to find the location of the manuscript, but can Nick get the information required before he is consumed with his past life. Julia must work to try and help her husband release his past life and take Salvatore down in the process.

Can Julia help her husband and bring him back from the past, you will need to find out?

Oh, my lord, I have come into this series with this book and although I did struggle with some of the back knowledge from the first book it did not distract me from the utterly mind shattering story. The story was captivating full of magic and mystery with a sprinkling of ancient Italy. The added complexity of past lives and twists and turns leaves you wanting more.

The story is fast paced and will draw you into worlds of treachery and mysteries of the past which will have you turning the pages to try and discover more. To be fair this would not be a book I would instantly be drawn too but was recommended by a friend and oh my I can’t wait to read more by this wonderful author and this wonderful series.

Painter of the Damned is the second book in the Painted Souls Series and is a wonderfully written Historical Thriller that will grab your attention from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. I’d highly recommend reading the first book in this series if you haven’t already as it gives you a better understanding of what is going on and you get to know the characters better plus its just as amazing as this one. Nick and Julia are just trying to get home Venice and leave behind the nightmare of a vacation but before they make it to the American Consulate they are captured by Interpol and returned to Venice. Della Porta believes Nick knows the location of a book that will give him world changing powers. As the past seems to take over nick its completely up to Julia to take down Della Porta and save Nick. Holy Cow this book is packed full of action ,drama, suspense and so much more. I have recommend reading this nail biting thriller to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to seeing what he brings us next.

5 Stars!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is a new author to me and when I read the synopsis I decided to dive into this book and I am so glad I did!! Wow…this story, while having 3 different parts to it and then how the story intertwines the characters at the end….fabulous. While the years of when the stories take place are around 1920’s and 1930’s, this is not my normal range to read as far the timelines…..I was so pleasantly pleased and I devoured this book and could not put it down. Turning each page to see what happens to Francie, Rose and Beau.

Francie Roubideaux is a young 17 year old girl living in hardship with her mother and younger brother as her father is in jail. When an opportunity comes along to Francie’s mother to give Francie a life that she deserved by Madam Claire, Francie’s mother does so. Francie befriends a girl named Lula and they are both joining Madam Claire to be proper women….but when tides turn and her Francie’s life is turned upside down….can Francie survive once she ends up at the
Mansfield Supper Club?

Rose Donovan has dreams of leaving her small town for big city dream with her best friend, May. When Rico Valentino enters the Fenders Shake Shoppe..he is already has his eyes set on Rose. The more time Rico and Rose spend together, the more Rose falls for Rico leaving her best friend behind. Nothing is what it seems behind closed doors between Rico and Rose once they are married and set to live in Hollywood. Rico has his eyes set on fame for Rose at the Mansfield Supper Club as a singer.

Beau Hartwell is an up and coming lawyer in Atlanta with a beautiful socialite wife at his side. When Beau’s childhood best friend, Poke, sends his sister Annie to Beau in need of help after being accused of a crime he did not commit…will Beau be able to defend Poke especially after the injustice being ensued by both the judge and officers that are only out for blood?

All 3 character stories really tug at me for different reasons. There are some parts not easy to read for sure…murder, intrigue, abuse, injustice, heartbreak for all….but Beau, Rose and Francie all end up together at the Mansfield Supper Club for one reason or another…..

I cannot wait to get my hands and eyes on book 2!! I need to know what happens next…….

This book makes me think of reincarnation. Also if déjà vu. Having multiple lives and still have memories of the past life. What amazes me is that Angelo takes over Nick body. Though Nick is trying to take back over. It was a good big I couldn’t get enough of flipping pages to find out what was next.

Murder on Oak Street is a historical crime novel set in 1904 New York. We follow Dr. Daniel O’Halleran, a Coroner’s Physician who is fed up with the politics of the job. When he is left at the altar on his wedding day, on opportunity to work on Long Island is just what Daniel needs.
When Dr. O’Halleran is presented with a case by a young woman; he realizes it has connections to his last case in New York City. A murder happens not long after he arrives. Daniel investigates the house full of family members and learns that not everyone is as they’re portrayed.
This book is full of twists and turns and the writer had me guessing from beginning to the end. The details in this book make you feel as if you’re investigating along with Daniel. Murder on Oak Street is the first in the South Shore Mystery series, and I look forward to reading the next book.

Full of lovable and relatable characters, readers feel right along with the emotions running rampant throughout the book. The descriptions make the reader feel as though they are right alongside the characters. I would not change a single part of this book. It does end in a cliffhanger, making me yearn for more.
If you are looking for a fast-paced book filled with mystery, romance, tragedy, action, and historical fiction look no further. Painter of the Damned is the second installment in the Painted Souls series.

Suspenseful and intriguing
There are plenty of twists and turns in this historical mystery. Daniel O’Halleran is an easy character to connect with and the cases kept my interest until the end. This book has drama, angst, suspense and murder. The historical setting is well done too. This is a strong first book in the series and I am looking forward to reading more.

This is such a rich and detailed story that I couldn’t put down once I had started reading. Everything about the book is well thought out and just amazing. I was caught up in the stories and the characters, both complimenting the other.
The author has packed so much into this book and he has really captured all the detail so well. As a new author to me I still don’t fully know what to expect from his books but I hope it is more of this in the future!

I’ve really enjoyed this historical crime story. It is a story that grips you from the beginning and doesn’t let go. I loved the main character Daniel. He’s a very smart determined man and when he senses something is wrong he is determined to not let anything stand in his way of the truth.

Daniel is a coroners physician. He is fed up of people not taking him seriously and his opinions not counting. He also doesn’t like the way that murders are swept under the carpet and not investigated. The final straw comes when he is left at the alter. Taking this as his sign he leaves New York and heads to Long Island.

This could be just the change he needs. A slower pace and a job where he is taken seriously. However the pace changes when he is asked to investigate a case from 2 years ago and when there is links between this case and his first case in New York Daniel starts to wonder if they were committed by the same person.
Could there be a serial killer out there or is it just coincidence? When another murder happens Daniel is in a race against time to solve this case.

This story is gripping, full of twists and turns, danger and mystery. I love how the author incorporates history and themes of the era which really brings the story a sense of reality.

Daniel O’Halleran is a coroners physician in 1904 New York. He is dissatisfied in his job and feels no one takes him seriously – they’re always rushing his work, hoping to get more cases “solved” by pushing answers through quickly. In the midst of his unhappiness at work, he gets stood up at the altar by his fiancee and decides he has finally been given enough signs – it’s time to move on from here.

Soon, he accepts a coroners assistant position in Long Island for a change. Daniel’s new boss warns him life is much slower in Long Island than in New York, but he’s happy for a new routine and having time to give answers. Before he even gets an opportunity to settle into that new routine, the local librarian suggests Daniel check out a local two year old murder case. In a twist of fate, it turns out to be the first case he had ever worked on and the first one to ever make him feel something was wrong.

Excellent descriptions, characters, suspense, dialogue, and sticking to era appropriate reactions. Wonderfully written, enjoyable historical mystery. Highly recommend!

This book is by an author I hadn’t heard of but the storyline sounded interesting so I decided to give it a go. This is a historical murder mystery novel which only adds to the intrigue and takes you back to a time and place where things were done differently.

Daniel is fed up with his current role in the city, I mean what’s the point of submitting your findings as coroner if they will just be brushed under the rug in favor of a quicker outcome. So 2 years down the road with many unsatisfactory cases, when Daniel is left at the altar he finally decides that he needs to shake things up a bit. So he takes up a new coroner job on Long Island and it doesn’t take long for the very first case he worked to come back for a visit when the local librarian brings it up. Daniel is eager to once and for all solve the case that has puzzled him for years. Will he be able to solve the case and catch the killer? Or will he bring more death to Long Island by poking a sleeping giant?

This book was very intriguing and I did enjoy reading it. At times it was a bit slow for my taste but that is to be expected in a historical plot line. Back then they took their time with everything. The characters were well thought out, the story itself was interesting, and the historical aspects were on point. If you like historical fiction mixed with some murder mystery whodunnit then you should definitely give this book a try. You may find this one is right up your alley!

This book, to say it was good, would by far be an understatement! I was amazed and full of intrigue as I read. I was left in suspense, I loved the author’s way of writing, and the historical mystery that took place.

I love mysteries. I grew up swearing I was going to be the next Sherlock Holmes SO of course this book greatly appealed to me. The more I dived in, the more I wanted to know. A mystery that even I could not put together-and I am quite good at those things. I was intrigued all the way through. I enjoyed the build up of the story very well and could not get enough. Great characters and suspenseful writing. Nothing was what it seemed. I found the read thrilling, and cannot wait for book 2! Freaking loved it!

Wonderful read, and not one to be passed up for any reason. Seriously! A must read book and author! Needless to say this is a high recommendation from me, if not a high priority to be read book and author!

What more could I ask for from a book. Murder, suspense, Historical setting and all the mystery. I really enjoyed this book and was intrigued by the authors skill at spinning a thrilling tale. I enjoyed her characters and truly enjoyed how this story built. I don’t believe I have read books by I.M Foster however she has won me over completely. I couldn’t put the book down and was thoroughly invested in solving the mystery! Great read, will definitely be looking for more like this!

This is one of those books that really has a bit of everything. It is well written, full of mystery and suspense and I thought it was so intriguing. I loved the way the author seemed to connect everything, for me it pulled me into the story so much more. I couldn’t wait to see how things would unravel and what the outcome would be.
As the first book in a new series, I thought this was a really strong start. The characters were interesting, and really fit the storyline well. The author knew exactly how to capture your attention. I am very much looking forward to book 2!

Soliloquy is a moving time travel story with a musical thread running through it. After inheriting a mysterious box from her grandmother, Erin is transported through time and space to France in WWII. She has to balance surviving the time she’s in, finding a way to get back to her own time and keeping those around her safe.
It’s a great read! The historical setting is vivid and well-researched, and it’s interesting experiencing it through Erin’s modern perspective. There are plenty of mysteries to unravel, as Erin learns more about her grandmother and great aunt and comes to understand the situation she’s in.
I particularly loved the descriptions of music, as well as the focus on the experiences of musicians in WWII. Erin is valued for her musical abilities and can use them to her advantage, but this is also a source of pressure and puts her in danger.
I would recommend this book to fans of time travel romance, particularly those with an interest in music or WWII. This book gets five stars from me!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I felt that it was well written. The story will keep you guessing until the end and it definitely keeps you on your toes. Daniel O’Halleran is fed up with how things are being brushed aside by the police in New York City for the sake of quict arrests. After being left at the alter he decides to start anew in Patchogue. When he is asked by the local librarian to look into a case that happened there 2 years prior he finds it was the first case he had ever worked on. This is book one in the series. The front of the book has a map of Patchogue which is helpful to orient the reader during the story. Murder on Oak Street has proved to be a well-woven and intriguing historical crime and investigation story. A murder mystery that keeps the pages turning and wondering who committed the crime. The author holds the readers attention through wonderful dialogue and scene description. I enjoyed reading this first book in the series and look forward to the next!

If you love a good mystery full of plot twists, this one is for you! The author keeps you guessing right up until the very end, which will keep you engrossed in the story.

Daniel O’Halleran is tired of people overlooking theories and facts regarding murders. What point is there in working a case if they are going to come to the conclusion that they want regardless of the actual events? When his fiance stands him up at the altar, Daniel knows it’s time for a change. When he starts looking into a two year old murder case for a new acquaintance, he realizes it’s the first murder he ever worked and nothing seemed right about it to him. Then another murder takes place, practically in Daniel’s backyard and it’s just too uncanny for him.

This is a new-to-me author and I wasn’t sure about this book at first. I’m so glad that I gave it a chance as it’s highly enjoyable, and as previously mentioned, will keep you guessing on the mystery of these two murders.

Really enjoyed this historical suspense. A murder investigation gets pushed aside even though the coroner’s assistant doesn’t think the facts line up. When he takes a job across the river, another death ties the deceased with his first case, and he tries to untangle all the lies and get to the truth in both deaths. A house full of people leaves plenty of suspects, but can he sort out what happened before someone else gets hurt? This one kept me on the edge of my seat, with lots of twists and turns. I really enjoyed the historical notes at the end, which made the story feel like it could have happened in that very place.
