This book is the first book in The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride Series. Joy and Jack’s story was very sweet yet full of suspense. This was not where either thought they would end up, but the circumstances in both of their lives have left them on this path.

Joy’s Christmas Escape (The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride Book 1) by P. Creeden is a great historical holiday book

Joy Stewart, a teacher, has never been fortunate. Her father passed away prior to her birth. Her mother moved far away and remarried, leaving her in the care of her grandma. Therefore, her debtors call her once her grandma passes away from sickness. And as recompense for his debt, one of them is determined to marry Joy. Joy’s misfortune looks to be getting worse; she needs a Christmas miracle, and her grandma is working on one. Marshal Jack Bolling has discovered that he needs a babysitter. He now has custody of his four-year-old twin niece and nephew following the untimely deaths of his sister and her husband. He has been looking for a suitable nanny for them for more than a month, but he hasn’t been able to find one that can afford what a marshal makes or on his pay.

Every page had you hanging on every sentence and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even compelling people. The story really transports you into this world. I couldn’t put the book down

Joy Stewart is a young lady grieving the recent passing of her grandmother, a woman who raised her from a young age after the passing of her parents, so when she is confronted by a hulking man escorting her from the graveside to speak to a man she has never met, Joy is astonished. Unfortunately for Joy, this is not going to be a nice conversation because the man who wants to speak to her, kindly lets her know that her grandmother owed him a lot of money in the form of past loans and he demands that Joy pays the rest of the owing’s, or becomes his wife, but her grandma has made other plans for Joy.

Marshall Jack Bolling is the law enforcement in the small town of Virginia City and so lives above the jailhouse with his mother, as he is out checking on one of the residents, he is heading home and sees smoke in the distance and as he saddles his horse he starts to organise a bucket chain, however, as he approaches the scene, his worst fears are realised, it is his childhood home. He is relieved when he sees his niece and nephew alive and well, but he is devastated when he finds out that his sister and her husband were not so fortunate, so he takes the children to live with him and his mother, but looking after them takes more of a toll than he expected and he tries to look for a nanny, with no success.

As Joy tries to process her situation, she falls on more bad luck and needs to make a decision, stay or run, meanwhile, Jack is advised that there could be another way to bring in help with the children, a mail order bride, but he is reluctant, especially with it coming up to Christmas. Will Jack find someone to be his wife before the holidays really begin and will Joy find her escape from the threats when she follows the plan her grandmother set out and will she be able to run far enough to not have to look over her shoulder? This is a slow burn romance set to a backdrop of emotional turmoil, despair and hope where two decisions can either make or break lives, as danger lurks in every shadow in this engaging historical romance.

Joy’s Christmas Escape (The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride Book 1) by P. Creeden

Joy’s Christmas Escape is the first book in The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride Series is ia Historical Holiday Romance that I absolutely loved reading. I’m a fan of Historical Romance and I love reading Holiday romance as well this is just what I needed. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m super excited to check out what other books they have written. This authors style of writing and attention to detail along with fully developed characters make for a wonderful story. This is a story about Marshal Jack and Joy. She’s a schoolteacher who last her grandmother and now is being hounded by a man about her grandmother’s debts. Joy can’t pay so he suggests her becoming his mistress. She doesn’t want to do that. Jack finds himself in a situation where he now has his sister’s twin girls due to a house fire. Jack has a lot on his plate and isn’t sure how he’s going to manage it all. Can he be what she needs and can she be what he needs? This is a sweet romance that I highly recommend reading to find out what happens next. I’m super excited about this series and look forward to reading the next book soon.

Joy’s Christmas Escape was a great book, P. Creeden is an amazing author who brings such a sweet romance with a beautiful gospel touch to it. It made me feel so good to read of how important Joy’s religious beliefs were to her, and the power of her faith in every trial that was thrown her way. She was such a strong woman to have gone through everything that she did and still endured through it all like a warrior. Marshal Bolling was the perfect companion to be matched with Joy, his mail-order bride, and what better timing couldn’t have come for both of them? I adored the attention to detail that the author took in developing the characters, and showing how much, they needed one another, whether they knew it or not. The setting in this story was one of my favorite time periods, when the world was so much more relaxed, and you could feel the friendliness of everyone around the town. The whole atmosphere reminded me of small-town living back in the days when everyone was neighborly, and you didn’t have such a huge issue with crimes. This was a great book to enjoy during this holiday season, it just warmed my heart. I have already started on the next book in this series and am excited to read about the next mail-order bride’s story.

Joy’s Christmas Escape (The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride Book 1) by P. Creeden. I loved this book so much and can’t wait to read the next one. Joy finds out from her minster that her grandmother had planned for this all along and has set her up with a matchmaker in Denver. Jack has been dealt a crappy hand, his sister and brother in law in a horrible accident he comes into custody of his 4 year old twin niece and nephew. Back during a time period where God centered lives, men carried guns, and women took care of families; life may have seemed simple and easy but for Joy, life had never been easy. Living her sheltered life in the city of Memphis, with her grandmother, didn’t do Joy any favors. After a series of unfortunate events, Joy must escape the city to Colorado. What she finds in the west is Marshall Jack. Jack is the lawman in town and he takes his job seriously. He loves his family and is trying his very best to make everyone happy. He realizes he needs help. Joy and Jack’s circumstances bring them together in a sweet love story. But like life the bad guy tries to ruin everything.

This story is a sweet western romance. A quick and easy read with a well written plot. Joy, Jack and the others are lovable characters. Looking forward to reading more of the Mail Order Bride Series.

Joy’s Christmas Escape by P. Creeden is the 1st book in The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride Book series. Joy Stewart is a schoolteacher who has just lost the grandmother who raised her. She finds herself homeless and being harassed by her grandmother’s horrible debtors. She soon escapes to Virginia City to be a mail-order bride to Marshal Jack Bolling, a sweet, kind lawman. I really enjoyed Joy and Jack separately and together. Joy was such a warm but strong young lady. It was very easy to root for her. Jack was no-nonsense but kind and loving. They were perfect for each other. The story has a clean sweet romance. I really would have loved Jack and Joy. The side characters were also lovely. The way the town took care of each other was inspirational. This is a great story with a nice plot. I look forward to the other books in the series.

This book is a heartwarming and sweet read that I enjoyed more than I thought I would. Clean reads aren’t usually my favourite as I find I get a little bored of them. However, it worked so well throughout this story as it allowed us to get to know the characters even more.
I connected quickly with the characters and loved watching their stories unfold. They each had so much going on and history that seemed to linger but they did everything they could to find a way forward. This is such a sweet romance and I honestly enjoyed very second of it. I am glad this is the first of the series as it means I have more to go!

This is the first book I have read by this author. I don’t usually read books in the genre of historical romance. I thought that this story sounded interesting so I took a chance and I’m glad I did. Joy hasn’t had the best of luck in her life and she is trying to get out of a bad situation so she decides that being a mail order bride is the lesser of the two evils. Jack finds himself raising his niece and nephew after losing his sister and her husband in an accident. Jack, knowing he needs help, decides to try a mail order bride. Will these two find love? This story has a little bit of danger, romance, holiday elements and great characters. I enjoyed the author’s style of writing. I enjoyed reading this sweet romantic story. I recommend this book.

Jack and Joy’s story definitely has a different feel to it. It isn’t a love story that starts like most. Both were in a desperate place, and were joining forces out of necessity. After being around each other for a few days, they like the energy each other gives off and you can see a romance building. Joy has some loose ends that will need to be tied up first though. It makes for a great romance with a little danger. I loved the way these two came together and the way the romance builds. Great story!

Joy’s Christmas Escape
By: P. Creeden
This is a fantastic Historical Fiction novel focusing on a mail order bride. I definitely loved the character development and the depth that was given to Joy. Her story was truly amazing and she definitely was a character that won over my heart. The story of Marshall Jake was also fantastic. I definitely could not imagine myself being in Joys position. And to turn to a mail order bride service to find a husband or truthfully for a wife is such an interesting thought to me. However, this story really makes it all seem relatable. I definitely recommend this book and I will be reading more of this series. This is really an amazing historical novel and I highly recommend it!

I was drawn into this book straight away when the action really does kick off as soon as it starts. I really enjoyed the book overall and thought that it was a great introduction to this new author! Her writing style was great, really engaging, easy to read and the characters were brilliant. I liked Joy I thought that she was a sweet, kind and relatable person. All (well majority) of the characters in the story were really sweet and relatable. I loved the setting and time period for the story – historical romance is my favourite genre so to find this book was great and added in is that bit of Christmas magic and it was a perfect book for me! I can’t wait to read more from this author again in the future.

P.Creeden has built a magnificent and rustic world for us to become entangled in. I am in awe of the strength and determination of Joy as she navigates the ups and downs of life after losing her grandmother. So much happens. You should absolutely read this book if you love a good story, a mail order bride plot, a historical romance, because this story has it allllll.

Joy Stewart is a woman who has just lost her grandmother, the last family member she has. As the funeral is wrapping up, a man claiming to be owed money by her grandmother makes her a proposition of forgiving her grandmother’s overinflated debts, if only she would agree to be his mistress. After Joy’s reputation is trashed and her job as a schoolteacher is ended due to the influence of the “business man” in question, who has local law enforcement, and judges in his pocket, Joy runs away from Memphis, the only home she’s ever known. At the same time, Marshall Jack Bolling is becoming the guardian of not only his 4-year-old twin niece and nephew, but also the caretaker of his mother, after his sister and her husband die in a fire. Both reach out through their pastor’s to a matchmaking service to try and solve their respective issues. What neither of them expects is to find a happily-ever-after. This is a good book, and I don’t even normally like historical fiction, but I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one day. This book does have a Christian basis to it, but it’s not so much a part of it that it feels “overdone”.

This was a heartwarming romance with a festive feel which I thoroughly enjoyed. Schoolteacher Joy Stewart is looking for a Christmas miracle following the death of her grandmother who raised her dies, leaving her with debts to pay. When the man she owes money to says he will take her as payment Joy needs to find another option, and then discovers that her Grandmother already had a plan. Meanwhile, Marshal Jack Bolling is left bringing up his four year old twin niece and nephew following the tragic death of their parents. He’s struggling to find a nanny especially on his Marshal’s salary, but then his friend Pastor North suggests that he look for a wife instead. With it being so near to Christmastime he could also do with a Christmas miracle to find a suitable wife and quickly. This was an enjoyable and engaging read, and I felt fully immersed in the storyline as both the characters and setting were brought to life by the descriptive narrative. I look forward to reading the next book in this new series. This romantic story also had a lovely festive feel about it which has put me in the Christmas spirit!

Joy’s Christmas Escape is the first book in The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride series by new-to-me author P. Creeden. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Creeden, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her books, but the blurb intrigued me enough to want to find out, and I love a good historical romance. So I let my one-click finger loose and snapped up a copy to set off on the adventure.
I am excited to find that this is part of (what appears to be) an 8-part series, something to look forward to. The author also has numerous other books to her name, so I can feel a book-binge coming on.
This was a sweet historical romance with all the ingredients needed to make it a great read:
-Down-on-her-luck mail order bride ✔
-Hunky lawman who desperately needs a nanny ✔
-Cute kids ✔
-Emotion ✔
-Superb historical detailing ✔
-Set at (in and around) Christmastime ✔
-Immersive scene setting ✔
-A damsel in distress ✔
-A touch of drama ✔
-A little angst ✔
-Christmas Miracle ✔
-Finding love unexpectedly ✔
And more…
A sweet story that is well worth the read.
Well done.
Happy Reading…

Thank you P. Creeden!

Joy is a schoolteacher who loves her pupils very much. When her grandmother falls ill and subsequently passes away, Joy isn’t sure what she’ll do. A very vile man comes at her and demands a large sum of money to pay off her grandmother’s debt, a debt that Joy cannot pay. When she tells him this, he says he’ll take her as his mistress instead. Joy isn’t about that life and does everything she can to get away from him.
Marshall Jake is alarmed when he sees fire coming from the direction of his family’s home, a home that his sister and her family now live in. When he arrives, he sees the twins, but not his dear sister or her husband. It doesn’t take Jake long to figure out that they’ve passed on and he’s now responsible for these two precious souls. How can he maintain his role as the town Marshall, take care of his mother, and raise these two kids?
When Joy’s minister suggests to her that her grandmother set her up with a “mail order bride” service in Denver, Joy’s first thought is “no way”. However, with Pomeroy and his goons after her, she decides that maybe grandma was right after all and knew she would need an escape. Joy takes a chance and answers an ad for the Denver agency. She immediately falls in love with Nate and Natalie and life in Denver. Would she be able to fall in love with the Marshall though?
I LOVED this book! It is in my top reads for this year. I’m a huge fan of historical novels and especially ones with mail order brides. This was a clean read, which I also much prefer! I will be looking for more titles by this author in this series.

I loved this story. Joy and the Marshall both needed each other and it seemed like divine intervention. The writing of the story was such that you felt like you were write in it. I do have to say that after the scene with the bad guy, I felt like I needed a shower. That man threw such shade that you felt it coming out of the book. Joy and the Marshall had a big adventure to undergo and they had a lot to go through. I found the story made me smile. It’s a Christmas theme, that always makes for a wonderful story. The characters were well-written. It’s a great book that is a must read for me.

I have not read anything by this author but it looks like she writes in a few different genres which is good because I really enjoyed this book and her writing style so I will be more than happy to read more of her work.
Eight mail order brides for eight Marshals I can’t wait to read more.
Joy’s Christmas Escape is a sweet, heartwarming historical romance story. This captivating mail order bride tale is fast paced, interesting with plenty of drama, some suspense and tension and a little danger in the wild west. It is the first book in The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride series.
This is Joy and Jacks story and add in a little Christmas elements and it’s a winner in this new series from Ms Creeden. The characters were wonderful. The plot and the characters were well thought out and well written.
Luck has never been on Joy’s side. Now she needs to escape the clutches of a man she wants nothing to do with and becoming a mail order bride may just do the trick. She hopes against hope that she is not going from the pan to the fire.
Marshal Jack finds himself in a situation he never thought he would be in. However, that necessitates him to step outside his realm of comfort to find what he needs. What he finds is something he never thought he wanted nor needed.
I look forward to reading more books in this delightful series.
