Great story connecting these two! I enjoyed hanging out with them as they meet, greet and learn how to be together. There is humor, sincerity and lots of skating in this book. My favorite thing is that he is Russian. Has Russian euphemisms and language translation that add some fun to the story. I love Chloe and all her experiences. From former hockey player to teacher to coach she rocks at everything she does. Plus her adorable relationship with her Dad made me smile. Secondary characters add so much to this one. His team and family as well as her parents and teammates of her Dad’s team. Put them all together and this is one well rounded story.

Chloe and Nikolai meet by chance at a bar in Toronto during All Star week. After sharing a flirtatious evening and a scorching kiss Nikolai is reminded of his reality by an ill timed phone call. He must remain focused on fighting for custody of his daughter and tells himself he doesn’t have time to pursue a relationship with anyone. Back in Tampa Bay he finds out that Chloe is his coach’s daughter, which means she is off limits to him. Chloe is just starting to get her life back on track after losing her husband. When Chloe ends up helping Nikolai with his custody case and becoming a temporary nanny for his daughter, Ayana, lines become blurred. Will Nikolai be able to let go and allow himself to love Chloe?

I loved this storyline and absolutely am obsessed with this book! Chloe and Nikolai were so well written. I enjoyed their banter and their chemistry. It was so refreshing to read a book featuring a female main character who is strong, beautiful, and over 40. I could not put this book down and when it ended I wanted more! This was the first book I read by this author duo and I will definitely be going back and reading the first two books from this series as well.

This was a hilarious rom-com. I loved the mix of characters in the story. The whole grumpy/sunshine made my day. It’s my favorite trope. I found that the story had a great flow. It was nice seeing old faces in the story. This has been one of my favorite series.

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets is book 3 in the series. Each book can be read as a standalone however, it’s best to read in order so you don’t have any spoilers from previous books.

This books is about Coach Bowman’s adult daughter Chloe Cooper who recently became a widow and the best goalie ever who is currently with the Storm Chasers Nikolai ( Niko ) Drugov. Nikolai is going thru a rough custody battle with his ex wife over their daughter Ayana. He currently needs to find a nanny to show he has proper childcare for her. Chloe and Niko shared one kiss on Toronto which could’ve led to more if he didn’t get a call from his lawyer.

Niko didn’t know she was coaches daughter until they get back home but they seem friendly enough and she offers to help him out as his nanny until he finds someone he trusts to care for Ayana. She ends up being a live-in nanny when there is a flood at her place.
Of course she keeps flirting with him but he does well keeping his distance until he can’t take it anymore. They both agree it will be casual and nothing serious.

Both are on board with that until one of them isn’t. Will they be able to remain friends when Chloe moves back into her place or will they grow apart and regret their time together. Another great read in this series. Cannot wait for more!

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets (Hot Flash Hookups #3)Night Sweats and Hockey Nets by Marika Ray
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging romantic comedy which kept me happily turning the pages. When pro hockey player Niko shares a passionate kiss with Chloe in a crowded bar, he didn’t know she was his coach’s daughter. However, having realised she’s off limits it’s proving harder than he thought to resist her. Nico is embroiled in a custody battle for his young daughter as well as coming to the end of his hockey career. Meanwhile, Chloe is a widow who is starting a new chapter in her life, whilst trying to ignore the annoying signs of impending middle age. Having decided to focus on fun and adventures she continues to flirt with Niko and show him her own impressive hockey skills. Chloe becomes Niko’s daughter’s nanny when he needs to prove to the judge that he can take care of her. With Chloe moving in and filling the house with her vibrant personality and fun energy, she’s soon winning over both Nico and his daughter. I loved the likeable and relatable Chloe and Niko and their chemistry sizzled off the page, leading to some steamy scenes! I loved the developing relationship between Chloe and Niko’s daughter. It was particularly nice to read a romance where the main character, Chloe is in her 40’s and slightly perimenopausal, as this made her a very realistic character, and one who I could relate to.

I have been seeing this series circulate my social media pages and book review group, but I thought that it wouldn’t be of interest to me because of the age group targeted, and myself not having anything experience wise to relate at all, but how wrong I was. I ended up picking up another Marika Ray Novel, and I loved it, so when I saw this book come up again I immediately wanted to read it. I now have to play catch up with book 1 and book 2. I started with book 3, and while there were references to previous books in the series and the characters were the same, the main characters were the focus of the story, I still would recommend reading the books in order, although I didn’t feel lost or anything, I definitely felt like I was missing out on vital information. Night Sweats and Hockey Mets has a few familiar tropes such as grumpy/sunshine, the ever popular hockey star, both parties fight their attraction, single dad needs a nanny, but also some fresher tropes as well like characters over 40, plus size and confident, etc. Between Nikos random Russian sayings, and Chloe’s confident flirting I found myself laughing out loud at the banter between the characters. I also found myself truly not enjoying Peyton and her attitude. This was a wonderful read, a fun, cozy romance, and you can’t go wrong with a Marika Ray novel and now I’ve been introduced to a new author, Sylvie Stewart, as well.

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets (Hot Flash Hookups #3)Night Sweats and Hockey Nets by Marika Ray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Niko is a loner on his pro hockey team and never really associates with the other guys on the team. Chloe is the coaches daughter who had decided she was tired of missing out on life and wants to have fun while also using her talents in the rink to teach kids how to play hockey. Part of her choice of having fun includes flirting, heavily, with Niko. While coach has deemed her off limits, Niko can’t seem to help himself when it comes to her charm and beauty.

Chloe is drawn to Niko’s grumpy personality, and when she finds out part of his grump factor comes from being in the midst of a court battle for custody of his daughter, she offers to help. The offer comes just as he needs to find a nanny for his daughter Ayana to prove to the court that he can provide proper care for her with his professional hockey schedule. So, before they know they have too much time to think about it, Niko and Chloe come up with a plan and Chloe moves in with Niko and Ayana. Before he knows it, Niko’s house has been taken over by Chloe’s beauty, warmth and personality. The rest of this wonderfully written story is a whirlwind of chemistry, spice and ends with a wonderful HEA.

This is book 3 in a series but can be read as a standalone.

This is a very easy fun read to occupy your mind from the reality of life. It does have humorous parts, and some seriousness to the story. The author does well in having the main characters, and even the minor ones, complement each other really well. I love how the other characters in the previous books are intertwined in this book, however little it may be. Overall, it’s a very great read.

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets is the third book in the Hot Flash Hookups series by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart. I really enjoyed this book, it was refreshing to have a main character in a romance book who seems real, Chloe is 42, perimenopausal, and not a size 2, and I loved her for it. A lot of the time main characters are not the easiest to relate too but Chloe would be my friend. When Chloe returns to live in her hometown after the death of her husband, she throws herself into her passion, starting her own junior hockey league. As her dad is the head coach of the local NHL team, hockey is in her blood. Niko, the star goalie for the team, is struggling in a custody battle with her ex wife and doesn’t want any distractions, however after a chance encounter with Chloe, he is definitely distracted, and when Chloe suddenly becomes the answer to his childcare problems he is unable to stay away from her. I thought this book was heartwarming, sexy and laugh out loud funny at points. Definitely recommend.

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets (Hot Flash Hookups #3)Night Sweats and Hockey Nets by Marika Ray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets is the third instalment of Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart’s Hot Flash Hookups series, and follows Nikolai Drugov, a hockey player in the midst of a custody battle with his ex-wife over their young daughter, and Chloe, a widow who has recently moved to Florida and is currently going through menopause. Like Mood Swings and Hockey Flings, it was really refreshing to read a romance story focused on two leads in their late thirties/early fourties rather than their twenties. Chloe feeling like she was starting over so late in life and still finding happiness, and everything she’s ever dreamed of, can and should be an inspiration to all. My favourite character was Chloe and my least favourite character was probably Peyton. I recommend this book because it’s a refreshing read and a good love story with a happily ever after. I also feel like the authors did a good job of portraying the voice of someone who speaks English as a second language. ‘My voice sounds foreign—a sharp strum on a cable stretched tight enough to snap.’

I should have read the description of Night Sweats and Hockey Nets before I read it. I usually choose books simply off the cover and title. This book is pretty steamy, which it is warned about (again, had I read the synopsis). It is the 3rd book in the series, but the only I’ve read. It can be read standalone. Overall I enjoyed the story and the little details the author added. The characters really came alive and their friendships and relationship shined off the page. Despite the detailed scenes that are beyond my typical reading, I would read the others in the series.

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets (Hot Flash Hookups Book 3)

Romance has always been my preferred genre, young couples falling in love and figuring it out. As I have aged I find myself comparing the characters to my adult daughters. This series is the first one in quite a while that I can relate to the main female characters.

Chloe while younger than me is starting to go through that change so many of us women dread while she is also starting over after so many years away from home.

Nikolai the broody goalie for the Storm Chasers is focused on his daughter and playing. He doesn’t feel like he can divide his time more than that.

Lots of build up between the two and some incredibly hot moments after the succumb to their feelings.

I have loved each of these books, but think this may be my favorite so far. Looking forward to the next one. Hoping it will be Rhodes that falls next.

This extremely talented writing combo never fails to captivate their readers! I am so totally in love with this series and I really hope there is a lot more to come! I really enjoyed the story of Chloe and Nikolai. They are such wonderful, loveable and more importantly relatable characters that drew me into their world immediately. Ayana is a sweetheart too! This truly can be read as a stand alone but why just read this book when you could read the whole series!! Trust me you don’t want to miss a single book.

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets was the 3rd book in The Hot Flash Hookups Series by Marika Kay and Sylvie Stewart and definitely did not disappoint! I didn’t want to put it down! There were lots of scenes that literally made you laugh out loud!

I loved the instant chemistry between Nikolai and Chloe from the moment they met in the bar. Chloe, a recent widow, is wanting to find a little fun. Nikolai is a loving dad that is  fighting for custody of his daughter, Ayana, and not at all  looking for romance. Little does he know, she’s actually his coach’s daughter! He needs a nanny and she steps up to help. They try to deny their feelings but Ayana has other plans.

And Nikolai’s accent – definitely hot! And you could hear it through the whole book!

The scene at the end with Rhodes has me thinking that we might just get a Book 4 and I can’t wait to read it!

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets is the third book in the Hot Flash Hookups series by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart. These two authors make a great writing team as their styles blend together flawlessly into a witty, engrossing, sexy, and fun read/s.
This is another wonderfully fun contemporary romantic comedy with forced proximity, grumpy-sunshine factor, 2nd chances, reverse age gap, a forbidden liaison, chemistry, steam, funny quips, banter, antics, family, a pesky ex, drama, emotion, and angst- starring a perimenopausal widow and a sexy single dad/professional hockey player.
What happens when the sexy woman you kissed at the bar turns out to be your hockey coach’s daughter? And what happens when she becomes your daughter’s nanny? Keep things professional. No problem. Right? Well, things don’t always go according to plan- and what ensues here makes for a really entertaining, fun, and spicy read- with just enough drama and angst to keep you hooked. Let the fun begin!
I think this instalment might just be the best of the bunch, so far- can’t wait to continue this madcap romp of a series.
This series consist of (so far):
-Hot Flashes & Hockey Slashes (Book #1)
-Mood Swings & Hockey Flings (Book #2)
-Night Sweats & Hockey Nets (Book #3)
-Sleepless Nights & Hockey Flights (Book #4) – due to be released in March 2025
Happy Reading!

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets is book 3 in the Hot Flash Hookups series by Marika Ray and Sylive Stewart. I was very excited for this book as Sylive is a great author and I’m totally in my “hockey romance era.” That said, this one did not disappoint AT ALL! Each book is what I assumed would be intertwined however this was my first in the series and I didn’t feel left out of place. There was enough detail that I felt like I knew the other characters but also that I totally want to read the rest! Niko finds himself nearing the end of his hockey career while also fighting his awful ex for custody of their daughter. Not one to be life of the party, he still meets a woman at a bar. He can’t get her out of his head until he finds out she’s off limits. Chloe is the coaches daughter and looking for her next big thing. After her husband passed she move away and is wanting a fresh start. She winds up becoming a nanny for Niko as he needs to prove he can care for his daughter with his busy schedule. The flirting between these two characters is so fun and it’s nice to read about older characters. One thing is for certain, their no strings turns into so much more. This funny, relatable and saucy story was definitely a great, lighthearted, easy read!

Sylvie and Marika teaming up to write was an excellent decision. Their writing style is hilarious. “Night Sweats and Hockey Nets” is the second light-hearted book in the quirky Rom Com series “Hot Flash Hookups.” It’s a feel-good story featuring forced proximity and the single dad trope, filled with witty banter that will leave you wanting more.

The journey in the book is flirty, sexy, steamy, and realistic. The characters are older than usual, which I appreciate, as Sylvie and Marika handle it so well. Chloe is determined to start anew despite menopause, and Nico might just be the one to help her. However, he must convince a judge that his daughter should live with him. Let the enticing and charming adventure begin!

This story is a delightful mix of drama, romance, and laughter.

One’s famous last words. “Never again.” Niko said those last famous words when he realizes that he has kissed his coach’s daughter and vows to never do it again. Well…. Never say never hun. I love how this story has an older female lead. Most romance stories have the younger youthful woman and the male lead is the older one. But to have one with an older female has been a breath of fresh air. The father/daughter relationship that Niko and Alana was amazingly sweet. T see that he is trying everything to get custody of her is something you don’t see everyday. The chemistry between Chloe and Niko was whew! I could feel my face heating up every time they encountered each other. I was not disappointed when I started reading this book. I greatly enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down once I started reading.

Night sweats and hockey nets by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart, book 3 in the hot flash hookups series. This is a book that will make you swoon. We follow a single dad trying to get custody of his daughter and a widowed woman trying to start a new life. Nikolai is swoon worthy, he cherishes and dotes on Chloe. He is a big marshmallow on the inside but is tough on the outside. Chloe loves children and was a teacher before moving back home. She is the daughter of Nikolai’s coach. This book will have you kicking and screaming. I got to fall in love with not only Nikolai and Chloe, but also his daughter Ayana who is funny and gets to become best friends with Chloe. We get to watch her scheme and be a kid. I loved this book so much and would read it again and again.

I was so excited for another book in this series! This book follows Nico, the goalie for the hockey team, who is in a custody battle to get to see his daughter. Chloe is a widow and used to be a 3rd grade teacher but she is moving back to Tampa to be near her father and start her own hockey league for kids. They don’t know each other but travel to Toronto for the All Star Game and meet in a bar and share an amazing kiss. Life happens and so they don’t take it any further. Chloe knows who he is but Niko does not know she is his coach’s daughter. When they are back in Tampa, they keep running into each other. He doesn’t have time for a relationship and she is trying to start a new life, but he calls for help when he needs a nanny to show the court he is ready for custody of his daughter. Chloe jumps right in to help him. I love Niko’s Russian sayings that don’t always make sense. I love how Chloe fits well into Niko’s family with his daughter. I love the slow burning romance becoming a few spicy scenes. I love that these characters are in their 30s and 40s. I hope that more keep coming out because this has been an awesome series!

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets (Hot Flash Hookups #3)Night Sweats and Hockey Nets by Marika Ray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is wonderful, hilarious, fantastic!! These authors hit us with another tale of love the 2nd time around. Having characters in their forties is super relatable. We can’t all be 20-somethings anymore. 😁

Chloe is still grieving the husband she lost to cancer but is ready to reclaim her life. Being 42 isn’t old. When Chloe kisses a stranger in a bar, she knows it could never be more than that random stupid moment.

Nikolai is a dedicated goalie facing the end of his career. He is embroiled in a nasty custody battle for his young daughter. Nikolai also supports his family back at home. He has no time for relationships, especially if they would put his custody in danger. Not even for that raven-haired beauty he kissed in the bar. When she turns up unexpectedly at his coach’s house, Nikolai must find a way to avoid the biggest distraction he has ever met.

When Chloe makes an offer to help Nikolai out as a temporary nanny to help his custody battle, Nikolai refuses. When the professional nanny he found doesn’t work, Nikolai is stuck and asks Chloe to help. After some initial flirting, Nikolai and Chloe agree to keep it platonic and be friends. That only worked for so long. They gave into the heat, the sparks, the chemistry between them.

Nikolai and Chloe have some hurdles to overcome but the biggest ones seem to be themselves. They just can’t believe that they deserve to be loved and/or happy. Will they figure it out??

Loving this series!!

As soon as I saw this pop up, I new I had to read it. Sylvie Stewart is a great author and I was excited to see they collabed with a new to me author. I thought this was a great weekend read and I didn’t want to put it down. The two main characters are older than most of the MCs in books that I read and I loved that. They had a whirlwind meetup that ended badly. The feel good nice feeling turned into a long period of dislike. The banter between the two was fantastic and I enjoyed their story of finding each other again navigating their tricky relationship. I was rooting for them and was happy to follow them to their HEA.
I am looking forward to reading more by both of these authors and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good book to read!
Happy Reading!

Kaitlyn and Bennett met around a decade ago in an airport and lost contact, but now they are back in each others lives. Bennett was on the verge of renewing his contract when he was dropped by his agent. A friend calls in a favor to Kaitlyn when no agent was willing to represent Bennett. She’s at the top of her game in a field dominated by men. Sealing an epic deal for her newest client will ensure her the top spot. Aside from wanting to unalive him for dumb stuff that makes her job harder, these two are insanely attracted to one another. Of course dating is out of the question. Or is it? These two together were a rollercoaster of emotions at times but they were good together. Even though I haven’t read the first book in the series I plan on doing so in the near future.

I LOVED this book! What more could you ask for? A RomCom full of witty banter and relatable characters.

I was so excited when the book began with a meet-cute! Only for things to take a turn after a single interaction. Ten years pass and the pair is forced into a last resort situation that both Kaitlyn and Ben claim to both hate but neither want to end. The banter between the pair had me laughing out loud.

I love the authenticity of this book. It wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies, but neither is real life. Perceptions of people change and forced proximity forges new relationships.

If you’re looking for a quick read with a show burn and forbidden love, this one is for you.

I can’t wait to read more from these authors!

I love this series so much. I was so excited to see that this is a series because I really loved Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes. I really love this series because it’s about women in their 30’s-40’s going through life as single women and fighting for love. This book really drew me in because Kaitlyn with a “K” is a career woman and reality starts to change right in front of her eyes and VERY quickly. As a single career woman myself, I found it so fun to sit down every night and read a little bit more about how she handles her career, her heels, and her dating life. I think this book is a GREAT read for all ages, but especially single women in this age range. It gives me a little bit of hope that a Hockey player will come and sweep me off my feet. (Kidding…kinda)
