The Earl’s Scandalous Wager by Wareeze Woodson – Review by Kerry Carr

The Earl's Scandalous WagerThe Earl’s Scandalous Wager by Wareeze Woodson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. It is a historical romance and as such the writing and the language reflect that. It was interesting to read a story that contains a lot of the social etiquette that was the normal in years gone by. The characters reactions to things and how they respond to situations were so different to how a person would respond in the present day and that all added to the charm of this book. The author does an amazing job of transporting you back to that time period and keeping you there.

I love the character of Emily. She starts out so scared and unsure when she is won in a game from her stepbrother. The person who wins her is  Lord Lenbridge. She knows nothing of this man but as the story progresses you feel her confidence and her love for him grown.
The little extra added into this story which makes it different to being just a romance is the element of danger that is present. Someone is out to get Emily, to ruin her life and destroy her marriage but who could it be? Could it be the jilted lover Phillip originally planned to marry? Or his family that don’t approve of their marriage? Or could it even be Emily’s step brother who has feelings for her that are strictly feelings between siblings? The story has you guessing to the end.

The Don (Her Three Immortals Book 1) by Hazel Storm – Review by Jessica Phillips

The DonThe Don by Hazel Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Don, book 1 of Her Three Immortals series by Hazel Storm was a quick read but left me wanting more!
I was not ready for it to end!! I love the multiple point of views from several of the characters.

Vanessa is a hairdresser and loves being able to bring out the inner beauty of her clients. It is what she’s good at. But it could also mean competition to others in the beauty industry.
Grey is The Don of the Underworld and is in town on business. Moving in across the street from Vanessa is just a perk.
Raef is Grey’s half-brother, a very sexy billionaire that is proving to Vanessa that not all financially successful men are A-holes, or are they?

Vanessa has some issues in her home life and just as these interesting men walk into her life her work life starts to suffer as well.
Can they help her? Is she willing to pay the price?

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

I was hooked from the first page! I didn’t realize how much I love suspense romance stories until I was brought into the world of Riley and Zander – I’m not typically one to love fast romances either but the author made their relationship so easy to love and cheer for. I really look forward to reading the next book in this series! Very well written with unexpected scenes which make you keep turning the page!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Moonlit Kiss: A Venice Romance is part of the Moonlit Destination Series by Amy McKinley.

I am already a huge fan of this author, but I think this is my favourite book so far. I was hooked right from the start by the beautiful descriptions of Venice, I was transported to Italy and dreamed of listening to orchestras.
The storyline will keep you drawn in right to the end. I loved the wonderful characters, and there was tonnes of chemistry.

I would definitely recommend this book and author, especially if you are yet to read anything by Amy.

Forbidden Wolf (The Shadow Chronicles Book 1) by CR Robertson – Review by Lianne Probert

Forbidden WolfForbidden Wolf by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forbidden Wolf is the first book in The Shadow Chronicles series by CR Robertson.

This story is a paranormal romance, and I was thoroughly invested right from the start. The main characters, Tasha and Levi, are from very different worlds. They should only be acquainted as enemies, but they soon realise they have so much more. With so many obstacles to overcome, their relationship should be doomed from the start, but they are strong-willed and full of passion.
I really enjoyed this story. I thought the author did a great job on a new take on a paranormal romance, and the characters are so well written it really keeps you hooked until the end. I will definitely be reading book two!

WILD VAMP (JADED VAMP BOOK 2) AUDIO BOOK by L.D. WOSAR – Review by Bridget McCullough

This is book 2 in the Jaded Vamp series and the action in this one takes place 50 years after the events of the 1st book. This is definitely a fast paced book, if you enjoy fast paced stories, this is for you! I personally would have liked to see more in each scene as these characters are written with such great intricacy that I’d like to see more of their thoughts and emotions.

I particularly loved Kaysee. Her character felt very real and raw to me. She wasn’t written to make every correct decision but she also didn’t fall into any of the normal tropes of female characters who make bad decisions. She generally made good and logical decisions but we got to see the why behind them and really experience the dark thoughts that make us all human even though we’d never admit it.

Then there was Dom. As a character he reminded me a lot of a high school jock who grew up to be a biker. Not that he was either of those things being an immortal vampire, but the personality was there. At different phases of the book I wavered between despising him and empathizing with him while agreeing with the decisions he made even though I didn’t necessarily like them. It’s rare that I find a character who elicits such complex emotional feelings in a book and I really hope that in the next one we get to see more of the inner turmoil of all of our characters.

There were of course several other characters in the book including our bad guys and with the head hopping writing style, we get a glimpse into all of them which affords us a unique perspective of not just the good but also the bad characters and what fuels them as well. It brings a unique perspective of humanity to the villains rather than just painting them as evil and writing their feelings off.

All in all, I quite enjoyed the writing style of this book; my only complaint was that there wasn’t more of it!

Red Coat by Isobella Dunn – Review by Erin Clemence

Red CoatRed Coat by Isobella Dunn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sara Flemming knows what it’s like in the foster care system, after a troubled childhood spent running away from various group homes and care facilities. Now, as a social worker, she feels a special connection to the children she cares for. When she meets fifteen year old Rachael, a young teen in foster care, she sees parts of herself reflected in Rachael and knows she must do what she can to help. Sara reluctantly agrees to return to her hometown of Victory, in order to collect Rachael, who, after being arrested, is waiting for her in the local police station. As Sara bonds with Rachael, she finds out Rachael is on the run from her abusive foster father, and both Sara and Rachael agree that Victory is the safest place for Rachael, even though Sara is reluctant to reconnect to the town (and the people) she once called home.

Isobella Dunn is a relatively new author, and “Red Coat” is her newest romantic suspense.
The novel covers issue of foster care and physical and sexual abuse, so it may be a trigger for some.

This novel played out like a Hallmark or Lifetime TV movie, complete with a quaint little town and a completely predictable ending. The simplistic language was a struggle for me; I would’ve preferred more developed and structured conversations. Dunn ensures every character has all of their inner thoughts put on paper, and there was definitely a need for stricter editing.

I enjoyed Sara and Rachael as characters, and right from the beginning you could see they were perfect for each other. It was obvious what the outcome was going to be between these two, and it definitely ended on a happy note. Right away, I found the character of Colin to be brash and forward, and honestly, he bordered a little on abusive and harassing. At the end of the novel though, Colin is more likable, but I think with a little more time for relationship history and character development, especially when it comes to Colin and Sara, I would’ve seen him the way the author intended. There seemed to be a giant gap missing between Colin and Sara’s relationship, and I needed more from them.

There was a lot of action in this novel, which was refreshing. When Rachael’s former foster father comes into the picture, even though the outcome is predictable (and some of the events were completely unrealistic), it was great to see Sara run to Rachael’s aid and overcome the predator.

Dunn’s novel is uplifting and light (even though the subject matter can be dark), and it was an easy read. I immediately cheered for both Sara and Rachael, and found the ending to be completely satisfying. “Red Coat” shines a light on the length that humans will go to in order to protect the ones they love, even when faced with hardship and trauma.

Travels Through Aqua, Green, and Blue: A Memoir by Mary E. Gregory – Review by Kimberly Shirah

Travels Through Aqua, Green, and Blue: A MemoirTravels Through Aqua, Green, and Blue: A Memoir by Mary E. Gregory
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Travels Through Aqua, Green, and Blue: A Memoir by Mary A. Gregory is an intensely readable book. While sometimes the writing style can obsess over small details, other times the style is hauntingly poetic. Mary takes us through her life, letting us see all the struggles that she faced at such an early age. This story also touches on mental illness and the effects that it has on the ones close to it.

This is a very powerful, inspiring story. I laughed, I cried, and I got angry throughout certain parts of this book. All in all, this book touched my heart, as I’m sure it will others. It should be noted that while I experienced all this throughout the book, you may not. There are some dry, long parts that, at times, are hard to get through, and sometimes not everyone will like the end result. I know I did though.

Wild Vamp: Jaded Vamp Series Book 2Wild Vamp: Jaded Vamp Series Book 2 by L.D. Wosar
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

All hail Queen Kaysee! I love a novel that has a strong female lead, and this certainly delivered on that! I found myself pulled into an alternate world, where humans are no longer the alphas and the fight between different vampires, and hybrids, and witches comes into play. Vycans are starting to take over, and it’s up to Kaysee to pull herself together after a great loss, to bring her Coven of Vampires to battle. Wow! I was blown away by the buildup of the characters, the description of the weak/strong minded, and the family ties that have you rooting for them until the end. Though this isn’t a genre I tend to read, I’ll be looking forward to Book 3 of this amazing trilogy. Well done, L.D. Wosar!

I’ll See You Again (Reigning Hearts, Book Four) AUDIO BOOK by KG Fletcher – Review by Angela Shirley

When you arrange the perfect weddings for people, Nicky can’t wait for her special day. Will it ever happen or will be she organising everybody else.

Nicky is a successful businesswoman who has always been professional and is a brilliant wedding organiser until Reid comes into her life will the chemistry between them be enough to spark a relationship they both crave.

Reid is a famous singer and has concentrate on his singing and his band but when a meeting with Nicky instantly creates chemistry will he be able to accept the attraction and can they have a happily ever after.

I love this series and I have read numerous books by this author and they do not disappoint. Each book within this story can be read as a stand alone but there is some crossover in some of the characters but this does not deter from the story.

The story is well read and the characters spark chemistry off the charts, this is also enhanced by the narrators love of them as people. I love the character of Nicky she is sassy and a strong female character which complements the character of Reid brilliantly. I would recommend listening to more by this wonderful author as her stories are always well constructed and have warm and brilliant characters, I can’t wait to read the next book in this instalment.

When I looked over to my new neighbour my heart picked up, he is so alpha male it just oozes from him. When Mac first saw his new neighbour running he can’t get her out of his mind but his job is dangerous and does he really want to put Serena is danger.

Mac is an elite SWAT commander and his alpha male sexiness is always in the for front but Mac is always wary regarding his love life as he is always a target and would not want to put anyone else in that world.

Serena has seen her hot neighbour and fantasise about having just on night with him but when an encounter where she worked rouses more that anger within Serena she then tries to get closer to this sexy man.

This story explodes from the first words spoken, the story is brilliant and although I did feel at times that the character of Serena was out of character with some of the interactions with Mac I still enjoyed the overall chemistry between these two characters.

I did enjoy the narrators who I felt gave these characters a great voice and personality, I will definitely be listening to more stories in this series.

Elle is running from her past which she wants to keep very well hidden, but she has an opportunity to become Director of Equine therapy at a brand new training facility but she is worried that her past may come to find her as she always is changing to a new location. Although she is trying to survive in walks a man who she has instant attraction to but can she stay away or risk him knowing her past and history.

This is the fifth book in the series and although you could read the story as a stand alone, although I would recommend reading the series to just understand the dynamic of these beautiful men and their ladies.

The story draws you in from the first paragraph with the interactions between Wes and Elle are hot and smouldering. I loved the way that these two characters needed each other at the greatest time in their lives and with both having flaws it just makes these two characters more interesting to read. The twists and turns with in the story will have you reading this story with out a breathe but with Elle’s history and past you will be wondering how this beautiful woman is still so open and caring is wonderful to read. The characters are well written and I would love to be friends with these people.

I can’t recommend this series enough, you will not be disappointed and I can’t wait for the next book in this wonderful series.

The action starts straight away and as Lillie comes to understand the Zayed she discovers more than she bargained for. The writing and world building is fantastic and Lillie goes from strength to strength. I really enjoyed her character and how she stayed true to herself. I highly recommend this series.

This is definitely a case of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. I hesitated going into this book and I was so wrong. This is wonderfully written and takes the reader on a journey through self-discovery and the unknown areas of space. The author creates a whole new world and species and does so seamlessly. I enjoyed this read. Donovan Trait, known as a lawyer who wins, is charming, and a womanizer; not know for being a vampire. When someone tries to kill him not once… but then a second time he goes into hiding. It seems though that he was not the only target. Can he help find out what is behind these killings? The only thing that seems to link them is a single text to all of them before their demise. Can he get to the bottom of this so he can go back to living a normal life? I loved the personality of Donovan and the people he surrounds himself with.

I basically jumped right from the first book into reading this one because I just had to know what happened. This was an excellent read! The Zayed community was fun to imagine and the pictures in my head gave me small town vibes, and made me wish I could meet all of them. The relationships highlighted the differences in each of them in a way that in real life, they would be teased by their friends for being too cute, and gave some diversity in the relationship as well as inclusivity in the type of relationship. The diversity between the friends was also very prevalent and was awesome to see, because it’s relatable in that most of the time, we don’t become friends with people just like us. If everyone were the same, life would be boring. Also, seeing the evil sorcerer and the way they all plotted to keep him from winning was definitely fun and kept me engrossed throughout the entire story.

R.L. Dunn did an amazing job when writing this book. I had troubles putting it down! Dunn’s ability to make me feel like I not only know the military-type terms and situations but also medical situations was outstanding. I really felt like I was there with the characters seeing everything unfold.
As soon as I met Ellie, I was hooked! She is such a relatable character in so many different ways. As Wes’ character developed alongside her, I fell in love with the two. Several times I wanted to yell at Wes and Ellie! I felt their frustrations as they went through daily work life at the Chase Center for Training as well as personal life struggles.
The book is a stand alone, but I am definitely going back to read the previous books of this series!

As a new author to me I never know what to expect going in or if it will take a bit to get into their writing style. Well I was captivated from the first page and i was immersed into this story the more I read.
Katie, well she seemed from the outside to be superficial and a daddy’s girl, but we learn the truth pretty quickly through the eyes of Ramone and also getting her points of view throughout as well.
This book had me holding on for all the ups and downs and the gut punches it held.
I still have many questions left at the end of this one so I cannot wait to dive in to book 2 as I really need to know what happens .

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It has been quite a long time since I read a MC book, and this book was fabulous. I was totally sucked in from the beginning to the end. My heart really went out to Sophie and the story of why she ended up with a horrifying physical injury. You wonder what kind of monster would intentionally try and harm another human being, I could never imagine. Then we have Wraith, what can I say but wow holy hotness. I believe Sophie really took him by storm. Sophie needed protection the most as someone is out to get her. Horse and Cut (other characters) are there to rescue Sophie from a threat and they take her a MC in Arizona where she meets the gang including Wraith. One of my favorite characters as well in the story is Peg, just made me laugh and also a protector. I believe Wraith and Sophie together is pure hotness. If you like a MC story with mystery and pure hot moments, this book is definitely for you. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Blue Summer Part Two is the second book in the Blue Summer series by Everly Taylor. This paranormal fantasy is a short read that I couldn’t put down. This book is filled with action just like the first, and we learn more about the characters, which just makes me want more. I was really enchanted with how this book ends, but I hope that Ms. Taylor will continue to write about the Zayed people in future books. I recommend that you read part one before you dive into this book or you will not have all of the important backstory. These two books were a prefect start to my summer reading.

This may be one of books that help a parent with special needs children, not feel so lost and even answer some unasked questions. Full length and loaded with information for parents as well as siblings. I found this book to be very informative and only wish this came out when my sister was born. I hear quite a few children are lost in the process of parents who struggle with everyday challenges. But when you add injury or illnesses to the mix. All they knew goes right out the window. This is a Must Read!

Thank you Marcia Nathai-Balkissoon. You have put some great information out there for all to read. As a sibling to a special needs sister, I’d say this book is spot on. It thrills me to see such a great book. This story is well written and a fast paced book. One I will be sure to have all my friends take time to read this jewel. Well Done Marcia Nathai-Balkissoon! WELL DONE.

Motherland (The Tom Grant Series Book 3) by Samantha Adair – Review by Erica Shoebridge

Motherland (Tom Grant #3)Motherland by Samantha Adair
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, so much action! Tom Grant is back to showing us all just how much trouble he can get into in the 3rd book in this series, Motherland. I found this one to be more like the first book in how fast and thick the plot came, and ratcheted up with some steamy romance scenes. Isabella is back in action as well, reminding us she is as smart and deadly as she is sweet and beautiful. Great juxtaposition in her character, it makes for some interesting plot points. I also love me some smart heroines who can handle themselves and do what needs doing in a crisis. Great series, lovers of action, suspense, thriller, spy and even romance will be thrilled with the pace of this narrative. Keep it up Ms. Adair, this is some great writing.

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series #1) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Jessica Leombruno

Mountains Wanted (Mountains #1)Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This isn’t my first book by Phoebe Alexander and it won’t be my last. Phoebe’s writing always knows how to draw a reader in and gets the readers attached to her characters. Oh, let’s not forget she knows how to steam up the pages!

Mountains Wanted is the first of 3 books (hint, you are left with a cliffhanger) that follows the love story of James McAllister and Sarah Lynde. Do these friends with benefits take to the next level or are they better as friends?

Sarah might just be my favorite heroine by this author, she is strong, speaks her mind, and confident. I can’t wait to continue their story in Mountains Climbed – because who won’t want to climb James like a tree.
