Wayward

I love this book! This is the first book in this new series for this author. Her writing style is creative and engaging. The characters pop off the pages and make the story seem real. They are connectable and relatable, they make the story. In this book, we get to see Jay’s story and what a story it is. He meets Sasha, the problem is she has mafia connections. There is just something about her he can’t get out of his mind. Will he be able to move past that and take her heart? A must read!

Undercover

I loved this story as it is engaging, creative and certainly brings the heat. This author’s characters pop off the pages as well as make me feel as if I was right there with them. This is one of my favorite authors because of the way she is able to tell a story that makes me come back for more. This is Matt and Marenah’s story. One a security guard and the other a granddaughter of the Russian mafia. Will they overcome the struggles they face or will it all be too much? A must read!

Grave Digger Academy III (Grave Digger Academy Series) by C.A. King – Review by Donya Pedigo

Grave Digger Academy IIIGrave Digger Academy III by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third installment of the Grave Digger series and while you can read it as a standalone, I’d definitely recommend reading the books in order, as a lot happens that you don’t want to miss out on. C.A. King has written this amazing, enjoyable YA paranormal series that encompasses not only magic, secrets, and dangerous adventures, but fun to get to know somewhat quirky characters.

Book three has Makayla returning to GDA for her year three with her brothers in tow as her protection detail. They feel they need to watch out for her, especially after her year-two trials and tribulations. But Makayla realizes things are amiss right off the bat, with missing entities and people. Is GDA safe? What happens when more people start disappearing? Will Makayla herself be next if her brothers aren’t allowed to stay with her? Will she be left all alone since her unique group of friends seems to have bailed on her, or will she encounter others to help her along the way? Can she solve the mystery, stay safe, and make it to her year four at GDA, or will the shadows close in as people question whose side she is truly on? Find out these questions and more in the fast-paced magical tale!

I’m so glad I found this series and can’t wait to see what happens next! Be aware going into this series that these books often end on cliffhangers that leave you salivating for more answers, adventures, and just plain great writing!

Finding out the details against Sasha, he strives to help the one person he feels compelled to protect Marenah although they are both running from the Russian and Chicago Mafia’s will he keep her safe.

Marenah holds a powerful secret which can destroy the two families of the mafia, but they are determined to she her dead. Can the one person she has trusted help her keep alive and can she push down the feelings for this man or will they destroy each other in the process.

OMG I have come to believe that this author is a genesis in the suspense and thrilling nature of her books and these two books do not disappoint. The books are well written as always and holds just enough sexual chemistry, intrigue and thrilling turns to hold your attention all the way through each book. I could not put these books down.

I always love the powerful female characters and Sasha and Marenah are no exception with the vunerability with the added strength is beautiful to read and although Jay and Matt are Alpha male character you have to love a flawed hero at the best of times and these two are said males.

I can’t wait to read more books in this series or by this wonderful author, thank you.

Whispered Surrender is the first book in the Sinful Duets and is a Dark Mafia Romance/Romantic Suspense/ Billionaire Bodyguard Romance that grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. This is two wonderfully written stories in one book. We get Wayward (Sasha and Jay) Undercover (Matt and Marenah) . Both these stories are packed with drama , action, secrets, danger and so much more. This author is one of my favorites and I never hesitate to read whatever she writes. Both of these stories the chemistry between the characters are off the charts. I don’t want to give away anything. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m already ready for more from this Author.

Quick Affirmations for Children is a wonderfully written children’s book that children ages 3-6 will enjoy reading. This teaches children positivity, helps them to be brave, happy and confident. This is a fairly new children’s author to me and I’m definitely going to check out what other books they have. My five year old son loved this book so much we read it four times in row. The illustrations are colorful and tell their own story. We are learning to work through our emotions and this definitely helped. I highly recommend reading this book and we look forward to reading more from this Author.

Be True with Me (Be with Me Series) by CA Miconi – Review by Brandy Rymer

Be True with Me (Be with Me, #3)Be True with Me by C.A. Miconi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a wonderful story about Lauren and Jake, college sweethearts who have not seen each other in years due to a traumatic event that caused them to part ways on bad terms due to no fault of their own. Lauren went on to become a social worker, and Jake a police officer both working in the same community for the past couple of years without ever crossing paths until one sad night. Both were called in on a domestic violence case, where they are shocked to be reunited. The twin’s mother is sent to the hospital to seek medical attention, and their abusive father is taken to jail to await his trial. Lauren understands that there is nowhere to take the twins, so she volunteers to take them into her own home. Jake sees this as a perfect opportunity to reconnect with Lauren and to talk to her about what happened in the past in hopes of rekindling their relationship. This story is all about hope for a better future, and the fact that true love can conquer all obstacles, even time.

Slay It With a Diamond (Diamond District Mystery Book 3) by Rob Bates – Review by Maikalani Alexander

Slay It With a Diamond (Diamond District Mystery Book 3)Slay It With a Diamond by Rob Bates
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Slay it with a diamond peaked my interest because of the murder mystery. It was a bit hard to fall along with the transitions of characters speaking in first person versus third. The mystery was a good one but the ending became overwhelming with its information. An entire chapter or 2 dedicated to a couple that weren’t the main.
I enjoyed the female characters quirkiness and her love for solving mysteries, being a good daughter, and striving to become something great.

The last few chapters of the book could be considered an epilogue there really wasn’t much warrant to them other than providing insight to what happens to the non main characters and to the main character. Wrapping up a few ends to something mentioned at the beginning of the chapter.

Overall the mystery was great, I could do without the considerably detailed ending of their life after the mystery’s been solved however I’m sure some will enjoy that.

Lina used to be Army Intelligence but now works security for the band Canis Major. The bassist, Curtis Bisset, witnessed something that he shouldn’t have and now someone is out to get him. Falling in love may not have been in the cards but being in such close proximity and trying to stay one step ahead of the bad guys makes that impossible. Can Lina keep Cutis and both of their hearts safe? Or will they end up broken hearted or worse? This was a great read. I think I read book two and enjoyed that just as well. It was nice to read a book where the female lead was the badass doing the protecting and not the other way around. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice to read about a former Navy SEAL protecting his loved one, but a woman in that role was like a breath of fresh air. The author did an amazing job.

This was a pretty quick read at only 19 chapters but it was well developed. I do have to say that this book does talk about a sensitive subject in one of the early chapters so read at your own risk. Lauren has a rough upbringing but was adopted by Miss Renita and went on to become a social worker. Jake was her first love and she trusted him beyond words. It took a lot for her to open up but that was all torn away in an instant. Now several years have passed and they’re in the same town, working in the same circle, and Jake wants to make things right. He had been looking for her the whole time and now that he knows where she is he’s determined to carve out a place in her life once again. Will Lauren be willing to listen to what really happened and forgive him?

Whispered Surrender is the first book in the Sinful Duets series by Via Mari. This is a fantastic romantic suspense duet that contains two standalone stories- ‘Wayward’ and ‘Undercover’. I love the way Via Mari weaves her stories with plenty of chemistry, sizzle, danger, secrets, hidden agendas, action, mystery, a whole lot of intrigue, emotion, and so much more. I’m always guaranteed of a unputdownable read when I dive into one of her stories, and that’s certainly the case for this book too.
I love that we get a duet, two fantastic stories together in one book- it really allowed me to sink my tenth into some ‘meaty’ stories. I love the Billionaire Bodyguards, and this is a great way to immerse yourself in their world.
Via Mari is one of my ‘go-to’ authors, and her superb romantic suspense stories come with gripping suspense, intrigue, palpable tension, and sizzling chemistry- while balancing everything with believable emotion.
Another riveting read from this talented author!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Via Mari!

Dark Moon Secrets (The Witch Moon Series Book 1) by Lilliana Rose – Review by Ayla Phipps

Dark Moon Secrets (Witch Moon #1)Dark Moon Secrets by Lilliana Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fate or choice. Everything is about to change. This is the first book in the new series by the incredible Lilliana Rose. Having read her Protector Wolf Shifter Series, I was very excited and looking forward to this new series. Dual perspectives of Tanjie and Alaric as they face life altering changes that lead to them meeting and so much more.
Tanjie has had a beyond tragic and painful past year and seems the fates weren’t done with her when she sadly finds her elderly neighbor Maria had passed away in her apartment. Since her parents’ “accident” she had focused on finding her own path and making her own choices. Her entire life she rejected her parents “hippie ways” and though odd she found comfort with her neighbor Maria. Like her parents she too had “hippie ways” and rejected tea and tarot card readings at every mention. Only after Maria’s passing and finding her will leaving Tanjie with a “bookstore” is she forced to confront the path she rejected long ago. Alaric is the son of the alpha and is set to take charge of the pack when the time comes but he wants it now. He is restless and always searching for something more when a scent quickly becomes an addiction. The new owner of the “shop” Tanjie draws him in, unable to fight the desire and pull just her smile urges him to finally open his eyes and understand his father’s warnings of power and respect. Tanjie demands to know the truth from Luna, Maria’s friend that was running the shop, but nothing prepared her for the truth. With the help of the sexy bad boy Alaric that drew her to him and the urge to learn more about her power she was finding more reasons to stay. No longer wanting to run back to the city and forget the little town with its secrets.
What will happen when the wolves finally strike demanding power over themselves? Can Tanjie defend herself when the “war” begins? Will Alaric and Tanjie find balance in their species to overcome being forbidden lovers? This author always makes a “normal” world seem so much more when the blinders are pulled back and the supernatural thrives in the shadows of everyday life. Forbidden love is always a favorite troupe and more so when it involves those going against “the rules” and finding their own path, making a better world for all. I was left speechless and breathless by the time I reached the end and instantly began hunting for a release date to book two, New Moon Fate, to see where Tanjie’s story continues. Will she see her wolf again? My eyes are open and waiting for updates. This series is an instant favorite with just book one.

Doombringer is a dark LGBTQ fantasy story that was intriguing and I really enjoyed the story.
Magic, crystals, secrets, war and fate brought this story together of Oden and what is to come. Knowing a war is coming with the Mages of Red Hunger upon the village of Shard Moure, Oden will do anything to protect his daughter, especially after losing his wife. The village is scared….but destiny steps in…..but will it be enough for everyone in Shard Moure to survive…

Will Oden be able to protect his daughter….

Definitely read and find out. This is a very well written fantasy I am looking to more future stories from this author.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A Christmas Amish Courtship is the third book in the Amish Courtship series by Jennifer Spredemann. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Spredemann, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But I do love a great Christmas story, and this looked like it would bring something a little different to the table, so I took a chance and jumped in.
What I discovered is a really sweet Christmas romance woven with faith, emotion, heartwarming touches, forgiveness, family, community, God’s plan, and finding love unexpectedly.
Anne and Andy have both been spurned by love. But can some anonymous love letter’s help bring these two the love they have been searching for? What happens? This makes for a charming read to find out…
If you love faith-filled romance, with a sweet connection, Christmas settings, emotion, and heartwarming developments- then this is definitely the book for you.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Jennifer Spredemann!

Slay It With a Diamond is part of the Diamond District Mystery series by Rob Bates. This was my first introduction to this author but it did seem that the stories are interconnected. It was fine as a stand-alone though.
This story follows Mimi as she and her father buy a supposedly cursed black diamond. Bad news follows the diamond causing Mimi to investigate the murder of a once-close, now estranged friend. As threats continue to mount, it puts pressure on Mimi and all her close relationships. The Book was a lovely who-done-it with some fun twists.

This is an awesome duet. Two books in one is the best of both worlds. These books have hot bodyguards, action, romance, danger, feisty and strong woman characters, and so much more. These stories will keep you glued to the pages wanting to know what happens next and just when you think you know what’s going to happen there are unexpected twists and turns that throw you for a loop. I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author and these ones are no different. This author has a way of engaging the reader and making me invested in the outcome of the characters. There are ups and downs, times when I’m on the edge of my seat and character growth. These books have everything I want and need out of a good story. Via Mari is such a well reviewed author that I felt confident that I would enjoy reading one of her books and I’m glad I took that chance. Whispered Surrender is actually two books and not just one which was nice. We get to read about two possessive, alpha male, mafia bodyguards, and the woman they fall in love with. Jay and Sasha, Matt and Mirenah are the dynamic couples in these two novels that were full of drama, suspense, intrigue, and fast paced with a dash of spicyness. Sasha and Mirenah are actually twin sisters which was really unexpected but a neat twist. I’m looking forward to picking up more books by this author.

Be True with Me: A small town steamy, second chance, interracial romance (Be with Me Series, Book Three)

Another trip to Green Springs to catch up with our previous couples and to get to know a new one.

Lauren is an absolute angel, after a less than ideal childhood she has become to person to help kids and families going through a rough time. Her work as a case worker causes her to see the bad, while trying to protect her clients.

Jake is another angel, but he has a badge. He too sees the darker side if things. He runs into the one who got away on the scene, he decides then to help Lauren and the kids who are now in her care.

Being a social worker is really a thankless job, she sees these families dealing with some difficult times and full of emotions. I have dealt with case workers in my youth, they definitely left a lasting impression on me.

I adored this book, Lauren, Jake and those precious babies. I hope we get to reunite with them and the other good people of Green Springs soon.

Wayward
Via Mari has a talent for crafting hot and steamy chemistry between characters with strong storylines. I used to have a preconceived notion that if a book was sexy it couldn’t have substance too, Via Mari shatters that misconception with each book I read.
I have to say I loved Wayward and it may have been my favorite Via Mari book thus far. I look forward to seeing what more is to come.

Undercover
How I could go from never reading a particular Author to becoming hooked on multiple series at once is beyond me, but Via Mari has me completely hooked.
With likable characters and intense passion, each book I read by this author impresses me through and through. I had a preconceived notion that steamy romances meant the storyline wouldn’t have depth or substance. Via Mari has shown me this couldn’t be further from the truth. Undercover has twists and turns that kept me interested from start to finish. Looking forward to reading more from Via Mari, as usual.

This book is such a great way to get into the holiday spirit if you aren’t already or to embrace the holiday spirit more than you already are. This is the collaboration of 11 short stories all centered on the holiday spirit. I wasn’t quite sure what to think when I started reading because of the different authors. Each author has their own writing style and even though this book is composed of short stories, I just didn’t know if it would flow like it a normal book. I was incredibly impressed. The book flowed from story to story but it also had the feel of the same author writing each story. It was a really quick read because of the short stories. I felt like I was on an adventure and making new friends with each story. I highly recommend this book if you are looking to just get lost in a story but maybe not have the time to commit to a full book. These short stories allow for you to leave and come back. I however, couldn’t put it down and kept reading till it was on the last page.

I love everything about this book! The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and the affirmations are short for kids to be able to remember if they aren’t looking at it. My 8- and 11-year-old had a blast saying/singing these to each other and made it a fun game as well. Little ones already have so much going on with their emotions and finding themselves that affirmations can help build their self-esteem and mindfulness. I enjoyed these even as an adult! I wasn’t sure what to expect as this was my first book by this author, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful blend of sci-fi and fantasy. Something I very much appreciated was the names and descriptions of the characters at the beginning of the book. Books play like movies in my head so to have the cast set out from the start earned many brownie points from this reader! The characters are all very relatable and had me very invested quite quickly. The author goes into great detail about the world and the scenes which truly pulls you into the experience fully. I can’t think of anything I would change in this book and I can’t wait for the next in the series! I highly recommend picking this up if you love sci-fi and/or fantasy because this checks both boxes!

Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets Book 1) by Via Mari – Review by Tausha Treadway

Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets #1)Whispered Surrender by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets Book 1) by Via Mari. I love anything by this author and anything Mafia so this was a book made in Heaven. I loved every second of it. The first story is Wayward about Sasha and Jay. I thought Sasha was a snot because she is a beautiful ballerina but when you really get to know her she’s not. Jay fell for her the minute he saw her but she only had eyes for her boss. How will Jay every get her to see him for the decent guy he is? Sasha is wrapped up in herself and Jay is doing security for the Mafia. Will the good guy win in this romance? The second story was Undercover and its the story of Matt and Marenah. Marenah is Sasha’s twin sister and is a lot nicer than Sasha. Many people are after Marenah to kill her. Matt and Marenah meet when the Chicago mafia kidnap them and meet back up in Russia. Marenah has a huge secret and she will do anything to keep it. Matt finally figures out who Marenah is and their chemistry is off the charts. He tries to dig as deep as he can to get to know her to find out her secret. Will he ever discover the truth and if he does will he feel about her the same way. These stories will keep you flipping pages until the very end. Amazing book!

Quick Affirmations for Children: A to Z of Easy Motivations for Creating Better days - Positive Affirmations for Happy ChildrenQuick Affirmations for Children: A to Z of Easy Motivations for Creating Better days – Positive Affirmations for Happy Children by Kim Ann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Quick Affirmations for Children (Quick Affirmations Series) by Kim Ann & Yobe Qiu. This is such a awesome book for children aged 3-6. Life is so hard anymore especially for kids who have had to deal with this crazy world we live in. This is a book with affirmations starting with the ABC’s. Its easy for kids to understand and it lifts them up. My 5 year old nephew lived thru COVID and started school shortly after so he has a lot of anxiety. This book has helped him immensely. The pictures are vibrant and so cool, he loves it so much. It also promotes other learning tools such as vocabulary. The discussions at the end of each day is amazing. I loved this book so much I bought the Affirmations for Women! Such a great book for your child’s library and would make a great gift.
