This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. This is a series that I would suggest reading the previous books as well. This will help your enjoyment of the characters as well as the author’s writing skills. I enjoyed how the author uses details to pull you into the story from the start. She gives her stories a realistic feel. This one is no different. This is the fourth book and a new year of students. There is a new headmistress with new ideas. As students come up missing Makayla finds herself alone and not knowing who to trust. What is happening to those that have disappeared? This is a fast paced story that you don’t want to miss. It is a shorter story but it packs a lot into a short amount of time. The characters are creative, strong and engaging. They had me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. They added to the enjoyment of this story for sure. I enjoyed the growth of the plot which made the story easy to read. I enjoyed reading this book and series. I think you will enjoy it as well. I highly recommend this book and series.

Killer Lawyer is book three in the Jake Wolfe Thriller series. Jake and Cody have returned for more adventures and danger, reminiscent of the previous books. This time around, Jake is a lawyer who also works in a secret agency, trying to find a killer who murders at random. The story is more complex than the previous two books, but still plenty of action and danger. As Jake gets more involved, the killer turns his sites on the main character, and his loved ones. This book is told in multiple POV so you get insight into the antics of different characters, including Cody the dog. I think my favorite part of this series is the dynamic relationship Jake and Cody have, and how they work so well together. Reviewed by @zoltrixes

Themes of Kismet is a sweet romance about fate and second chances and more. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely a fan already. Their style of writing and attention to detail made it easy to engage with the characters and I felt like I was a part of the story from beginning to the end. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Let me just say the cover is absolutely stunning and I could stare at it for hours. Our main characters met when they were younger then once again a bit later and again a few years later. Is it fate? Get ready to be taken on quite the emotional journey with the main characters as they face secrets , drama and a bit of danger. Can these two get there chance at happiness? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Im already looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Vigilante Assassin is the second book in the Jake Wolfe Thriller series. Book two returns with Jake Wolfe and his very clever dog, Cody (who may be my favorite character). Cody is extremely smart and an amazing service dog that gets in the middle of the action and wins you over quickly. Jake, an ex Marine with has seen his share of action, continues to bring more to the plate. The book starts out fast and never slows down. There is A LOT of action and scenarios that happen in this one and is more fast paced than book one, which I did enjoy. My only complaint are the scenarios are very far fetched and unbelievable. For instance, Cody alerting Jake about a man approaching with a grenade launcher…who has a grenade launcher!? I do love reading multiple POV books and seeing things from different angles and there is plenty of that to be had with this series. You even get inside the head of Cody (the dog) as well and I found that to be unique. Overall, it is a nice read if you love action and military cat and mouse style books, and would give it a try for sure.

Dead Lawyers Don’t Die is the first book in the Jake Wolfe Thriller set, and also the first book I have read from this author. Former marine and current photo journalist, Jake Wolfe, accidentally comes across “The Artist”, a local murderer. Now that is is involved, the inevitable and predictable game of cat and mouse begins. The story was entertaining and kept me turning the pages, but was not my favorite, as I found some instances unbelievable and pulled me from the immersion. Some things seemed a little TOO conveniently set out for the elusive murder and while his games were fun to follow, they were also a bit cliché at some points. That being said, I enjoyed the characters and their many very different personalities, and that they were well written. I especially loved Cody, a very clever dog, and you get to see some things from his perspective as well! Some dialogue was left hanging, but let’s be real, conversations can sometimes be hard to write. I did, overall, enjoy this book, and will give his other books in the series a try and see if the story continues to develop and grow on me. Reviewed by @zoltrixes

Luna the Howling Husky Finds Her Howl (Jake the Growling Dog World) by Samantha Shannon is such a cute and feel-good children’s book- suitable for all ages. The illustrations are just delightful and really make this story come to life. The are interesting, bright, and beautiful- all together, making a charming read. After reading Ms. Shannon’s ‘Jake the Growling Dog’ series with my grandson, and enjoying them so much- I knew he would love this one too. I think this is my favourite of her books, so far- and my grandson was captivated by Luna too. It’s a cute and sweet read with some adventure and wonderful lessons along the way, such as: finding our voice/speaking up, kindness- and how one small act of kindness can change someone’s day or life for the better, love, family, and friendship. It also promotes empathy, kindness, and acceptance. There are also some fun activities to find at the end of the book- a word search puzzle, conversation starters, a counting page, a kindness page, a critter search that spans the book, and a see-and-find-puzzle. Murky Murder is the fourth book in the A Maid Ivy Cozy Mystery series by Hazel Smith. This is my first read from Ms. Smith, so I didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories- but I love a good cozy mystery, so I jumped right in to find out what happens. I also came into this series a little backwards, as I didn’t realise that this is the fourth book in the series- but thankfully, it can be read as as a standalone without feeling like you are missing anything. But, having said that, I enjoyed meeting these quirky characters and am curious about what they got up to in the previous books, so I will go back and read the first three books before continuing on with the rest of the series.
This proved to be a fun cozy murder mystery with a bit of a whodunnit feel. With quirky characters, hotel capers, banter, a little drama, intrigue, and some suspense made for a light-hearted, yet entertaining read. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Happy Reading…

Brilliant series starter The first book in the Witch Moon series, Dark Moon Secrets was a strong start. With immersive world building, strong characters and a solid story line, this engaging paranormal fantasy had me hooked. The scene has been set for so much more to come and with a range of different characters which I feel will all play a role in Tanjie & Alaric’s future. I eagerly await book 2. Highly Recommend.

This was a good 4 star read. Reverse harem is a favorite genre of mine and this series definitely fills that bucket for me. This is the 5th book in the series. We get action, hot sexy scenes, violence and so much more. I like the multiple POV so you can see what others are thinking. I really like all the characters, they add a great element to the story. There were many twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was next. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. You can read as a stand alone but I suggest starting from the beginning. I will warn that there are some things that could be triggers for some. If you are looking for a good dark, reverse harem this is the series for you. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.
To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.
People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.
I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you differently.
I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

The Cannibal Caper is the second book in the Sparky of Bunker Hill Mystery series by Rosalind Barden. It is another fun historical cozy mystery set in the 1930’s Las Angeles following along with Sparky- our MC, who is a spunky, street smart, precocious tween- and amateur sleuth. Even though she is only 11, she has been through quite a lot. Her adventures have been much more than most people would deal with in a lifetime. So you would think that would dampen her spirits- but not Sparky- she has a zest for life, a bit of a magnet for trouble, too. This is a cozy mysteries with interesting/quirky characters, historical detailing, crime & investigation, adventure, action, and a cannibal. Did I say cannibal- yes, yeas I did- and if you want to know where the cannibal fits into this capper, then you really should read all the developments for yourself. It makes for an intriguing read. As with the first book, the story contains all the historical detailing, language, sights, and societal norms that you would expect from the 1930’s era It’s richly descriptive and detailed. While the characters have been crafted into quirky and ‘colourful’ individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. And again the author did a great job of bringing everything to life. From murder to mobsters, movie stars, and a little mayhem this turned out to be an intriguing and fun read. I was intrigued by the quirky cover and decided to give this book a go. I have not read any work by Hazel before and quite enjoyed myself. I will have to go back and read the other books as they can be read as standalones which is no hardship. Murky Murder is a clean cozy mystery and part of the A Maid Ivy Cozy mystery series. It is a quick but fun read. Not only that but there is some culinary delights to be had along the way. Ivy the maid is back in another adventure that sees her and her cohorts, the four-legged kind as well as the two, legged kind diving in to yet another mystery. The characters are quirky and eclectic and bring the story to life. Set in London at the LaFontaine Hotel can Ivy find the person behind the letters and a killer before another one bites the dust. There is a cast of many and a plethora of suspects to work through and Hazel leads them on a merry and twisted chase to find the one responsible for the murder and mayhem. Hazel has given readers a well written, clever, charming, suspenseful, fun cozy mystery that will delight one and all. If you like murder mysteries and whodunits with some humour like Ms Marple, Father Brown, and the like you will enjoy this series. Enjoy!

I love this author! I also love that all the books in this series are intertwined in a way it works magically. Also all the books work extremely well as standalone novels, which is a nice change of pace vs other books that don’t. Secrets at the Cafe are no different. It’s another drama that sucks you in and keeps you wanting more. Tell that to the main character Karina, she hightailed it home when her grandma was fighting for her life. Now with her gran gone she’s running herself ragged. Causing her to confuse people, needing to help all others around her gets her in trouble. So when gran’s notes and knick nak’s started to disappear, Katrina was determined to find them at all costs. But as things start to unravel, is it now time for her to stop or push forward for the answers she seeks? I know I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again. This is probably my favorite book to date. Each book seems to get better and better! An author worth digging into! A story definitely worth the read! Enjoy!

The Inquisitor (WaterFyre Rising Book 4) by Nadia Han – Review by Jessica Stone
So first off, this book is part of The WaterFyre Rising series, but can be read as a standalone, I didn’t realize until I was halfway through this book that I missed reading one of them super I’m super thankful that it can be read as a standalone. That being said I have read the first two books in this series and this book, just like thoes, did not disappoint. The heat between Forrest and Keira is immediate, though there interactions take a bit of time to really combust, the chemistry is already there from a previous meetings, and being part of the same circle and it has not died down at all.
Forrest is a Doctor, thanks to growing up with his supportive grandma he’s grown his career into a successful life. Now he’s back in Texas for revenge, his father was killed brutally by a gang when he was a young child, he’s made it his life’s mission to avenge his family.
Keira is a fashion photographer, who’s just trying to make ends meet, after a accident at her moms work causes her to fall severely I’ll Keira’s taking every possible job she can, on top of her already busy schedule to pay for her moms medications and treatments. The last thing she has time for or interest in is a relationship or fling, so why she can’t seem to get Forrest off her mind. In a chance meeting the both wind up in Texas at the same time and things just take off from there. Keira gets kidnapped and it’s up to Forrest to choose between his vengeance and saving the girl he can’t get off his mind.
Ok so their chemistry is off the charts, it actually makes me giddy little a little girl, I can barely stay in my seat. I love how straight forward Forrest is about wanting Keira right off the back. The she’s mine, touch her and die vibes are strong with him. Keira has the best intentions with the worst execution, she’s got the biggest heart and with that big trusting heart sometimes comes pain, but that’s a chance worth taking I believe.
I’ve enjoyed this series so far, I can’t wait to see the next book and I’m interested to see more come from a certain situation that ties all the male protagonist from this series, I feel like every book gets a bit more exciting and I’m so excited to see everything come to a head and to read about the next couple. I would definitely recommend this series, but I would highly recommend reading the first 3 books just to get a little insight into all the characters and how they interconnect and their own personal stories.

Loved the cover and I loved the book. There’s topics and descriptive scenarios that could be triggering to some, so check the trigger warnings. It’s very graphic. I enjoy psychological thrillers and I’m so glad this one didn’t disappoint.

This story was fantastic!! Magic, mayhem, drama and darkness… this fast paced story has it all. I very highly recommend listening to Book 1 as this is Book 2 in the series and picks up a couple of years later where Ian Troy wakes after being imprisoned for 2 years….
Drugged and beaten… Ian is tortured and comes around unbeknownst to him…a prisoner after 2 years….not remembering what happened. Of course King Draken is at his full rule and cruel and dark as ever. Ian Troy is rescued and trying to put the pieces back together especially trying to find the truth still in the Crown of Stones….
If you love a gripping fantasy story I very highly recommend this audiobook. I cannot wait until I listen to book 3 in the series.

What a wonderful story and such beautiful eye catching illustrations. This story can be enjoyed from the young and also the young at heart like me. I know my great nieces and nephew love this story as much as I do…..and we all can learn a great message from Luna the Howling Husky. Perseverance, kindness and friendship…this story of Luna is one of the best.
When Luna cannot howl like her brothers and sisters, Luna feels like an outsider. A chance encounter with Nemo the cat, Luna makes a new friend and they have so much in common. The bond of friendship between Luna and Nemo builds with kindness. Will Luna be able to be brave and find her “howl”?
This is a truly a heartwarming and fantastic story. I highly recommend this to anyone…

Luna the Howling Husky Finds Her Howl is another cute tale by Samantha Shannon. This is a wonderful children’s book that I am going to share with my grandsons, I know they will fall in love with Luna’s story as they loved her in Jake the Growling Dog. I enjoy reading with my grandsons, and especially the closer we get to Christmas as I am looking for presents for them so when this book came about, I jumped at a chance to grab it. The cover and illustrations are beautifully done and really bring the story to life. Finding your voice, making friendships and being kind to others are wonderful messages that not only young can learn about but adults as well. This book is 30 pages of fun and interaction and most definitely worth the read. It is aimed at children aged 6-10 but even those younger would love the story. A great story not to be missed.

4.5 stars Be True with Me is the third book in the Be with Me series by CA Miconi. I have not read anything that I have not liked by CA and this one may be my favourite so far. It is a wonderful small town second chance interracial romance with lots of feels, a bit of drama, a little humour, and sugar and spice. It was easy to lose myself in the story, that I was engrossed in from beginning to end. I read the story in one sitting for some much needed me time. I loved the characters who captured my heart and loved that we met with old friends from previous books. Make sure to read the other books first as the characters cross over but it could be read as a standalone.
Lauren knows what it is like to have nothing, and she vows she will do everything to help and make this Christmas the best Christmas for these two in need can have. But can 10 years erase the heartache that feels so fresh when you come face to face with the one who betrayed you? Can she open her heart to let trust in?
