After reading book 8, though fully intending to go all the way back to book one to begin the series, that is what people recommend, I haven’t done that yet, I went to the next book in the series, book nine. This series focuses mainly on one person, Logan McKenna. She frequently has to lay it all on the line to solve the mysteries and the suspense is palpable. Lost and Found was an intriguing novel that I’m glad to have read and can recommend to others.

The Catford Catastrophe Zone by Petra Jacob was a lot more intriguing than I expected. I mean I knew it would be good because I was quite engrossed by Ms. Jacob’s ‘Peddling Doomsday’ story- but this book is even better. This has so many great ingredients- from a dystopian theme, futuristic setting, sci-fi elements, thriller-esque details, dramatic developments, a little satire, secrets, agendas, politics, social commentary, rebellion/rebels, mutants, danger, subterfuge, some action, adventure, a DNA-enhanced crime fighter, some mayhem, interesting characters, and a fight for survival. The story wasn’t what I was expecting, in a great way. It was very intriguing, well-developed, and thought-provoking- but as expected from reading her previous book, Ms. Jacob has also set the tension and anticipation on high. The plot is complex, and layered- with a lot more going on between the covers than first meets the eye. As with her other book, the characters were quite interesting individuals who were really well thought out, and all had their own quirks, flaws, and unique personalities. The setting and world-building were great and gave the story a unique ‘feel’. The world-building was really well-crafted- but, in saying that, I think it was the characters who really drove this story, pulling me in and keeping me turning the pages, following along to see how it all turned out in the end. They certainly made it more interesting, for sure. If you love dystopian stories with more than a few surprising developments, then this is definitely the book for you. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Jacob’s work. Happy Reading…

I have read a lot of the Notebook Mysteries series by this AMAZING author so when I saw this new book I did not hesitate for even a single second. I knew that she always creates such fantastic and completely captivating storylines and Mark Sutherland absolutely did not disappoint in any way. The vivid imagery created puts you into those pages and situations as if you were standing right there yourself. No I am not giving any details away. you simply have to read it for yourself! There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked and I really can’t wait to follow Mark on more adventures!

Danger is near and threatening to hurt her. Throw in a crush that is blossoming with Zach Wren and it looks like everything’s is going to implode around her.
I liked this, very different kind of like glee meets izombie with a twist. I think young adults will get a kick out of this one and I liked that CeCe was relatable, definitely spot on for a teenager. Great beginning, I hope to see this becoming a series.

This book was really good. It is the third book in the series. Elena leaves home to go after her brother’s murderer and to find the person that destroyed her family. She quickly discovers that she may have bit off more than she can chew. Sean is working as a horse trainer when his sister goes missing. Theresa two of them team up to find her before anything bad happens to her. Do they find her in time?
My son and I have read other Caspian books, and we always love them. He is 7 and I read this book to him, because he was a little overwhelmed with how many words were on each page. I thought this book was super creative and magical. Caspian and his grandpa celebrate is UnBirthday. This year he asked for a bicycle, but his UnBirthday gifts are never anything normal. I love that Caspian had to plan how to make his wish come true, and had to put in some hard work to make it happen. The illustrations are colorful and fun. Great story for young readers.

This is the first time reading a book by this author. I decided to read the book because it takes place during the California gold rush. I would think it was a exciting but also very dangerous time. I thought it was interesting to see Elena was heading into possible danger to fulfill her mothers wish on her death bed. What kind of danger will Elena face as she hunts down the man who killed her brother? The author does a beautiful job of world building and character building. I could connect with the characters and get a feel for what they were thinking and struggling with. Overall, I enjoyed the book and will likely be reading other books in this series very soon.
Well this author definitely has a new fan in me!! This fantastic book had me extremely reluctant to put it down when the family insisted on being fed! LOL! Filled with wonderful characters, who are so relatable, even though you will love some and dislike others, this storyline will keep you completely captivated from start to finish. Sue is one very determined lady and I love her!! I can’t wait to read more from this Amazing and very talented author.

Another Lois Wickstrom picture book that doesn’t disappoint! Baking a Bicycle is a whimsical story that sparks the imagination. The use of wordplay creates a light and playful tone throughout the story. I enjoyed the unique premise of the story, which involves a boy who wants a bicycle and is confused when his family gives him something else.
The illustrations are commended for their bright and vivid colors, which complement the lighthearted nature of the text. I was impressed by the attention to detail in the illustrations, which added an extra layer of depth to the story.
The book is a fun and entertaining read that would appeal to both children and adults. The book has a valuable message about finding creative solutions to disappointment to find a joyous journey at the end.

I’m torn when it comes to picking up books already in the midst of a series. Some can be considered stand alone and have such a pleasure reading. This one can get you a bit lost in the past story content but overall it was still a good read! I absolutely loved Elena! Such a strong, determined female character. Story takes place in the 1800s in the Old West of California. I really love how they embrace the Spanish language, its American immersion to the Old West atmosphere and historical places. Elena is on a quest to grant her mother’s dying wish to murder her brother’s killer. With her trained mind and skill set, there is nothing stopping her to get to the bottom of this. She ends up meeting Sean during her travels, who is a former spy and now a horse trainer. He already suspects Elena may have ulterior motives, which makes him even more intrigued by her presence. What they find along the way and rely on each other end up being a journey they will not forget.

I have never been a huge believer of fate, but it seemed like fate when I decided to pick up this journal. I didn’t realize how much I was actually carrying that was weighing my heart and soul down. This journal and the affirmations helped to open and ease the burdens on my heart and lighten my soul so much. I loved the affirmations and I felt like they absolutely helped me to reflect on how I was feeling and process my emotions. I am very grateful that I picked up this book and I absolutely plan to send copies to some of my friends and family, because I think this is a beautiful book to help people unburden their hearts and find their way.

The illustrations were cute and the story flowed nicey. The story reminds us that it’s important not to trust everyone. It teaches us that trust should go hand in hand with a bit of caution, and we should be aware that not everyone we come across has our best interests at heart. My 4 year old was pretty upset about the cuckoo birds actions and as a result didnt enjoy the book much after that. It may be suited best to older kids.
Devil’s Claw is the third book in the Logan McKenna series, and so far my favorite of the first three books. I am coming to find out each book focuses on a different social issue and is well presented in how it is handled. I never feel lectured or forced to see things from the author’s POV, but rather shown that the issue exists, and how to navigate through that. Devil’s claw taught me a bit about sea otters and rescue as a side educational portion to the actual storyline. The author paints vivid pictures describing her scenes and characters and the character development is believable and easy to follow. When a new sea otter rescue is presented with legal battles over who the real owner of the property is, greed and complications come out in full swing. Many people come forward as the owners, and the hostility amps up quickly. Inevitably, someone turns up murdered. With so many people involved…some with everything to lose, and everything to gain…who is the culprit? Very fast paced and edge of your seat writing style, and I liked this one the best so far. Forest Park is book two in the Logan McKenna Mystery series. Logan McKenna is back and this time we see things from different perspectives and thoughts of different characters. there was not much transition from one character’s thoughts to another, but I was able to easily follow who it is we are are meant to be in the head of. I enjoyed that sensitive topics were handled well and not shoved into the reader’s faces, and was not presented in a way to come across as lecturing. While this is a continuation from book one (about 6 months after the last book), I think this could easily be read as a standalone. Their are two stories happening in Forest Park. One is dealing with a Vietnamese food truck that was bombed and the other is a homeless veteran with PTSD and it somehow works that both storylines come together smoothly. I wouldnt really say this was much of a mystery, and more of a thriller, but I still enjoyed the story and the way it was presented and I do think the writing, overall, is well done.

Shattered is book one in the Logan McKenna Mystery/Thriller series and my first read from this author. Logan’s life is falling apart around her. She has lost her husband to a car accident and sold her business to become a school teacher. Other teachers began accusing her of helping her students cheat, so now she might lose that as well. To try to escape from everything and get her head back in the game, she goes to South Cali for the summer. The fresh air and familiar faces will do her well….until a body shows up at the art festival she is working at. Now Logan McKenna has to help solve the murder to save her and her friend from false accusations. I love the strong female lead character quite a bit, and the story progressed well without too many slow spots or unbelievable moments. I still have 8 more books in the series to read so I am curious where it goes next.

I’m such a fan of this series and yet again I was gripped throughout with this mystery, crime thriller. I loved being back with our heroine, Logan McKenna who feels like an old friend now. This story is set on the Oregon coast where commercial crabbing is big business but also a dangerous one. Logan is asked by Sam to defend a friend who she says is innocent, but with a murderer on the loose Logan needs to find the killer. Logan finds it difficult to unravel the fact from fiction in this case in order to get to the truth. With one dead body and more than one other life at risk she’s determined to investigate, however, this then puts her in danger and in the killers sights. As usual Logan is a great main character and definitely a strong female protagonist. The descriptive narrative brought both the characters and the setting vividly to life, which made me feel immersed in the storyline and engaged with the characters. The plot was full of twists and turns whilst the suspense built with each chapter, keeping me hooked!

Gibson’s writing style is descriptive and vivid, painting a clear picture of the settings and immersing you in the story. Baking a Bicycle is the seventh wonderful tale in the Invisible Magic Wand series an original and imaginative tale for children between the ages of 6 to 8 years. It is a delightful, and fun fantasy story. My grandsons were entertained and engaged and loved looking at the colourful illustrations. It is another UnBirthday adventure for Capsian and his exciting gifts from his quirky Grandpa. If you want to know what happens with the Baking Up Dust and Caspians wish for a bicycle, then you need to grab a copy and a snuggle buddy or two and journey along with the adventure.

Another good book from this author for kids. I really enjoy how this author brings learning to children and makes the stories fun and enjoyable. I really do wish my children were smaller and could enjoy these books by this author. I am sure when I finally do have grandchildren that they also will find joy in this author’s stories. The author is able to bring subjects to kids in a very creative way that helps develop their imaginations and influence learning. I really do highly recommend this author’s books and will definitely be reading more from her.
Baking a Bicycle is Book 7 in the Invisible Magic Wand books and it is a wonderful story that can be enjoyed by the young and young at heart. My great nieces and I loved what Caspian and his grandfather have in store yet again!
What can be better than asking for a bicycle on your unbirthday? Of course baking a bicycle instead as Caspian and grandfather mix up some ingredients…what will come about?

I fell in love with Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart from the very first chapter. Olivia and Roman are fun, relatable, and hilarious characters that capture your heart immediately. The fact that Olivia is menopausal and a little bit of a hot mess is fantastic and made her so lovable. And as a sports fan myself, I loved the hockey player Roman and his ability to step in and help his daughter when she asked him for a big favor. Humor and spice makes everything nice. This is a great read about hockey, hot flashes, family dynamics, and finding love again.

I was so excited to get my hands on this book and start the next in the series. I was pulled straight back into these characters and their lives and couldn’t wait to see what was in store for Shane and Winter. This author seems to be able to create an incredible story no matter what she turns her hand to. I have already read the previous books in this series multiple times and this one is going to be exactly the same. It has made me even more excited for the next book and everything else this author has to offer.

AS soon as I saw the name of the author on this book, I picked it up immediately without reading the description. When I started reading I was so surprised by the type of book this turned out to be because it is not what I have come to expect from her. I was so intrigued that it kept me reading and I am really glad I did. This book is a collection of thoughts and observations that will help to guide and offer an alternative perspective to many every day things. I loved how it was written in a journal style. It felt like it gave us a real insight into the author. You could feel the emotion, which just made me connect all the more with this book. I thought this was heartwarming, inspiring and uplifting and I would urge everyone to read this book.

This book follows Deborah along on a journey, taking back her life. She recently leaves an abusive relationship and finds herself lost. She doesn’t know how to act, what to do, with her newly found freedom.
The story is intense in some parts, but does not disappoint. Alexandra did an amazing job detailing this poor woman’s thoughts and feelings; breaking my heart in some chapters and having me rejoice in others.
The Men of Eden Cove Manor is an enticing paranormal romance, set around Halloween. I’ve enjoyed this author’s books in the past – some fantastic LGBT+ paranormal stories – so was excited to read this and it didn’t disappoint!
The story draws heavily on the Gothic which I love! Curious Lucifer sneaking around a supposedly haunted house, stumbling into something he shouldn’t have seen and then being caught up in a dangerous and wonderful world feels classic, but there’s plenty that’s new and unusual about this story as well!
While it’s in many ways a lighthearted paranormal romance, this story also explores grief. Lucifer has recently lost his mother and is trying to honour her by living his life to the fullest. Meanwhile, Mordecai and the others at Eden Cove Manor are still affected and motivated by bereavements they suffered long ago.
If you’ve enjoyed other books by this author, you already know you’re in for a treat! I’d recommend this to fans of Gothic literature and M/M(/M/M/M…) romances. It gets five stars from me!

This is the 9th book in The Logan McKenna Mystery series. Even though these books can be read as a standalone I personally recommend reading them from the beginning as we learn so much about Logan as the series progresses and it gives the reader a complete understanding of who she is, what she has gone through, and how she has become the woman she is today. This author’s writing is amazing. Every story is unique and full of so many twists and turns that I’m kept guessing all the way through. I am always gripped by these stories and I can’t put them down until Logan had found out the truth. This book was no different. Yet again a murder had occurred, and with so many stories and lies and so much deception it is going to take everything Logan has to be able to unravel all these lies to get to the truth. Can she figure out what’s going on before its too late? With so many characters that are so well written you will be guessing who is to blame all the way through.
This author and this series just keeps going from strength to strength. If you love a good Thriller, with a strong and determined female lead then you will definately enjoy this series. I can’t wait to see what else the author has in store for us.

Book 7 in the Hidden Valley Elite Series, Wicked Games exceeded my expectations. After reading the first 6 books in the series, I had high hopes for this one, since it seems to be coming up on the end of the series. Isla Vaughn did not disappoint. Excellent world building and solid, fluid writing, coupled with suspense, drama, and so many twists and turns make the world of Thane University come to life. The same great characters return and are, once again, thrown into some heavy stuff. Shane and Winter not only have a wicked history with one another, but seem destined to be torn apart before truths can be revealed. The cliffhanger at the end of Wicked Games took me by surprise and left me biting my nails until the 8th book is released!
