On the surface, Maldarehm was the perfect place to re-supply after a lengthy voyage at sea. Yet underneath this port city’s vibrant, bustling atmosphere, something was wrong. Ian Troy could feel it. After barely escaping the Wandering Isles, he was reluctant to go ashore. Ian was content with a slow, solitary ride along the coast.
Jarryd Kane, however, was anxious to explore a new land, especially one known as a haven for pirates. In the mood for adventure, he heads straight to Providence, the city’s infamous gambling house, and to a game with stakes unlike any other.
Two different paths lead both men to the same dangerous outcome, as Ian and Jarryd are caught in a brutal local tradition rooted in ancient beliefs and fueled by magic. Risk and sacrifice, death and reward—fortune and misfortune—ride on little more than a roll of the dice in Maldarehm. But what do you expect when you’re playing with gods?

Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra is an award-winning author with a unique point of view: to give her readers and fans thrills and kills, with a twist. Her characters are placed in danger in ingenuous ways while, at the same time, her novels are set in locales across Europe and the United States, reflecting her international upbringing and extensive time as a Cuban exile and global traveler.
The author’s writing career began circa age thirteen with a very juvenile science fiction short story; but the writing bug hit, and she has been writing, in one capacity or another, ever since. She has worked as a professional dancer, singer, journalist, and literature teacher in both the university and middle school levels (and not necessarily in that order) and holds a Masters in English literature.
All her novels have received different accolades, including gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as honorary mentions from respected book award institutions. Ms. Alonso-Sierra is currently writing full-time and loves to hear from her fans and readers. When not writing, she roams around to discover new places to set her novels.

Tami Lund is a first time author for me but I was certainly not disappointed. Although A Way Out is the second book in The Rock Star Series, it can be read as a standalone. Reading this does make me want to read the others in the series. This book kept my interest from start to finish with a great story line and world building. There is just enough drama, angst, and romance to keep the story going. The characters are realistic, relatable, and believable and the banter between the main characters, Maria and Oz, is very intriguing. This was a quick read but was so full of substance. I can’t wait to read more by Tami Lund!

This was a great 5 star read and second chance romance. I really liked this couple and their story pulled me right in. Maria is finally free and when she shows up at her sisters for help she gets an unexpected surprise. Oz is surprised to see Maria at the door. As they spend time together traveling to her sister’s wedding they get to know each other better. Maria offers to help Oz. Will Oz be able to keep his feelings out of it? Overall, I really enjoyed this read. All of the characters added a great element to the story. My heart went out to Maria and all that she was struggling with and Oz has such a huge heart and what he did was so great, tugged at my heartstrings. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in. If you’re looking for a great series to read, 1-click and get started today on this one. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I really enjoyed Falling Again, the 3rd book in the Buckeye Falls series. There are crossover characters from the previous two books, but this could be enjoyed as a stand alone book. The whole series are cute books. This book focuses on Anthony and Natalie. Anthony is the mayor of Buckeye falls. The previous books portray him poorly, being a grump and a pretty stuck up. While Natalie is one of Cece and Ginny’s best friends and a sweet mom to two rambunctious kids. This book gave us a better look into each character, and we find out Anthony is a good guy who is just overworked and stressed out from living under his father’s shadow. The book is very sweet, and romantic. Being a exhausted mom, this book is very realistic. I hope there is another book in the series, as we got to see a bit into Anthony’s sister Alice this time. I would love to hear her story.

I wasnt sure how this one would go with how the previous book ended. (if you haven’t read Brutal Days do that first and that’s not a suggestion that’s a requirement lol)
Damon and Skylar, what a mess things have become and with being their age their feelings are strong but neither know what to do with them and then they worry about the thoughts of others around them (don’t we all at that age)
I won’t spoil anything here as this book was packed with lots of eventful things, reading them makes the story understood and it’s highly needed to make sense of it all.
Cannot wait to dive into Cruel Start! This series is one of my favorites.

Finally, Princess Arcelia gets to be the focus of the adventure! I’ve been a bit of a fan of her from the beginning and I’m glad that her story is finally coming out.
I do recommend reading the previous 3 books and reading them in order to fully understand the context of this adventure series.
Continuing to learn that there are more secrets, lies, and betrayals, Princess Arcelia and Prince Rodderick continue on their adventures to better their countries and lives. This world that the author has created is very interesting as it’s a mix between a modern and a futuristic world full of hybrid beings. Princess Arcelia is determined to find out more about her mother and her deeds and begins to find out that things are nothing like she thought. There are many twists and turns in this one, making it hard to put it down!

This kicks off right at the end of the last one with Gia discovering Damon and Skylar in a rather intimate moment.
Disregarding any crumb of friendship Gia is on the war path to make Skylars life miserable. what’s worse is she won’t let Damon protect her or retaliate as she feels she deserves the treatment she’s getting.
They concoct a plan to have a “fake” relationship so the buzz will die off but boy they both catch feelings real quick and the chemistry continues to build.
Real danger comes a calling from Skylars dad and she will be forced to come clean with her feelings and Damon may just learn how much like his brothers girlfriend Skylar really is…and may even shut down some demons he’s been carrying because of it.
Will they make it? Will Skylar stay or will her and her mom run and hide.. can Damon protect her and keep her like he’s wanted the entire time… and what of this obnoxious Gia…can her and Skylar kiss and make up?

This is the third book in the fantasy series featuring Prince Rodderick of Diar and his girlfriend, Princess Arcelia. It would be best to read these books in order as there is a lot of background information that is essential to understanding the progression of the story being told.
There continues to be a lot of family drama, more secrets, adventures and betrayal. This time, the Space Acolyte Caro is missing. She is beholden to the help from Time, Life, and Death, as well as assistance from Rodderick to escape her captors and restore order.
This is a fast paced read that will be hard to put down and I’m excited to read the next installment of this fantasy adventure series!

This is the second book in The Millers of Marietta series. I did not read the first book but had no problems figuring out the “extra” characters. This book focuses on Annie and Craig. Annie and her siblings have moved to Montana after their parents unexpectedly passed. Annie is using some of her inheritance to open a B&B. She loves to cook & feed people. In comes Craig, a marketing hotshot from Portland. Both Annie and Craig claim to not be interested in each other but it’s soon evident that they have a connection that they can’t ignore. Overall the story moved along and the setting was well written. The main characters were easy to connect with. I will be reading the first book in the series soon so I can delve into Annie’s siblings story.

I highly recommend reading this series in order. If you are unable to for some reason, at least read the first three short stories in book 1 before proceeding to read this one or future books. Having a background in the different types of beings and how they present will be vital to your understanding of this story. The background from book 1 will also help tremendously.
Rodderick is teaming up with his brother Rayden to try to prevent massive destruction all for nothing. Rayden has a history of drug abuse and doesn’t have the best relationship with his siblings but sees the need to try to mend fences for the sake of the country and his family. There are so many secrets that are being kept within and from the family and these secrets are causing decisions to be made that probably shouldn’t be.
This book has a bit more adventure than the first one and will keep you turning the page to find out more! Also, check out the cover art on this one. It’s brilliantly gorgeous and really drew me into reading this series!

Told from multiple points of view, this story is about Rodderick, who is the Prince of Diar. He is an Acolyte of Time as well as a dragon/human hybrid.
This story is full of adventure that is happening around Rodderick and his country of Diar. His dad, Demon King Ryder, has been thought to be dead all these years. However, Rodderick finds out that this is not so. This poses a bit of a problem because King Ryder would like nothing more than to have Rodderick dead.
Rodderick and Princess Arcelia are forced to go into hiding to prevent King Ryder from finding them. Rodderick has a lot more to learn about his country and isn’t get much help from his drunk mother to learn important things he needs to know.
This was a super fun book to read about hybrid creatures, princes, princesses, kings, queens, war, and lots of family drama! It was an entertaining afternoon for sure!!

5 Stars Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite) by Isla Vaughn
Cruel Start is part of the Hidden Valley Elite (Book 5)and is the prequel to Phoenix and Aspens Duet Cruel Hate and Cruel Love. You guys this author is killing me slowly with this teaser and cliffhanger. I devoured this book in no time and absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on Cruel Hate. I highly suggest you start with book one and read this series in order as you’ll get to know the characters better and the back story of what has been going on. Phoenix and Aspen holy moly these two. He’s heading off to play football at Thane University. He’s all about football and getting the grades to. He’s having one last summer of fun before college starts. Aspen is new in town and all about taking risks. These two have one night of off the charts passion and now both of their lives are about to drastically change. I highly recommend reading this NA bully romance to find out what happens next I’m already ready for more from this Author and this ridiculously good series.

I tend to gravitate toward psychological thrillers to get me out of a reading slump and I was drawn to the cover of this one! I’d never heard of this author before stumbling across this novel but the synopsis coupled with the cover work drew me in. The storytelling hit the ground running from very first page and I found myself on edge as the story progressed. The writing was strong and the love to hate main character was written even stronger. This was a book that left me wanting more in all the right ways following a ride full of twists and turns. Definitely a well written thriller worth reading.
A contemporary romance playing on the tale of Eros and psyche. Modernized to show a strong female lead that is deceived by her sisters. Kay is the head of her family’s company that’s worked hard to keep it this way seems to have caught the wrath of Aphrodite. (Although it’s unsure why she caught the wrath till the end of the story. ) unbeknownst to Kara and her sisters. They purchase an “seduction abduction” vacation package to whisk Kara away for a month long trip.
Plotting behind this scheme is Aphrodite to take control over their company. While away on vacation erik and Kay bond deepening their relationship and pushing the bounds / limitations of the contract. Till everything comes crashing down.
Does Kay have what it takes to overcome Aphrodite’s wrath? Will her sisters gamble everything away?

Skylar and Damon have been caught in her bed by her mother and Gia. When Skylar had gone into the living room to talk to Gia, Damon dressed and followed. Gia slapped Skylar and Damon intervened to prevent Gia from slapping her again. Skylar felt horrible that Gia wouldn’t talk to her and she was pretty sure Damon didn’t talk to her either. The following day, she went to work, Gia entered with her new friends. Gia taunted Skylar with remarks “I don’t know what he saw in you other than a cheap f*ck” :Bring me a Diet Coke, and don’t touch the straw, who knows how many diseases you might have after screwing half the guys in our class.” When Skylar exited work, her car tires were flat. Damon picked her up and took her home.
School wasn’t any better because there was a group wearing #TeamGia t-shirts. The laughing, rumors, and Gia even being so bold as to shove Skylar in the hallway made life almost unbearable for Skylar. Damon didn’t take too kindly Gia’s antics and plotted payback. However, Skylar tied his hands because she still cared about Gia. Just when things couldn’t be more stressful, Skylar noticed a strange car was appearing down the street from her house and then in the parking lot at her job. Her father was supposed to be released from prison soon. He had gone for almost killing her mother and hurting her. Only Gia knew this secret, but with the turmoil possibly ending their friendship, who could Skylar turn to.
Watching Damon change from being called Demon into someone with more compassion was entertaining. This book has all the witty remarks, justifiable revenge, and steamy scenes for that any romance novel would have. However, realistic elements of possible danger, destroyed friendship, and unpredictable twists are also included. The details are vivid and the alternating view from Damon to Skylar gives this book a full 5 stars. I recommend this series to anybody who likes relatable adult stories.

Phoenix hates Tracey, Shane’s girlfriend of two years. He knew she was a gold digger. While playing football on the beach, Shane’s shoulder is dislocated. Instead of riding to the hospital with Shane, Tracey hangs back at the beach. Phoenix intercepted Tracey when she finally showed up at the hospital. Instead of letting her go back, he lied and said that Shane’s football career was over. Tracey didn’t show up for Shane’s physical therapy appointments. When she tried to visit Shane at the house, Phoenix repeated his lie.
Meanwhile, Aspen was trying to escape the constant fighting at her house. Her sister had moved into her boyfriend’s house. Aspen overheard her father shouting how his life would have been different if her mother hadn’t trapped him with the pregnancy. A party was being held at the cliff that Aspen liked to dive at. Her friend Erin introduced Aspen to Piper, Teagan, and Tracey. Piper thought Aspen looked familiar, but Aspen said they had only arrived in town. The girls were friendly, except Tracey was still standoffish. Phoenix hit on Aspen at the party. Piper encouraged her, so Aspen followed Phoenix to a secluded spot. Aspen lost her virginity that evening. However, Phoenix then walked away afterwards. Unfortunately, Aspen does not have the chance to walk away.
This novella left me wanting to dive right into the next book. This is the perfect teaser for this series and it leaves a lot of scenarios in the air. Phoenix, the always quiet and reserved one of the entire group getting into a bind with a poor girl depending on her scholarship to stay out of the toxic life her parents had is definitely worth reading.
Ladies of the Links #2 is the second book to this series by Haley Rhoades. While I did not read book 1, it was still easy to dive into this story and enjoy the storyline between Christy and Ryan. It was obvious from the intensity of the beginning that this story would be filled of passion and regret, and it only grew stronger as the story progressed. I absolutely enjoyed it. Christy was a joy for me from the beginning as a favorite character. I loved the writing and absolutely recommend. Perhaps would be even better if reading book 1 first. But either way, definitely worth it! Writing and plot was spot on!!

Brutal Nights is the next book in the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn, this book carries on from Brutal Days, which needs to be read first or it will make no sense. At the end of the last book Damon and Skylar’s relationship was discovered by her mum and best friend. This instalment follows the two characters in the aftermath of this, trying to work out what their next steps are while also navigating the complexity of high school friendships (and mean girls) while also dealing with an unwanted visitor from the past. I am really enjoying this series, looking forward to the next book already!

5 Stars The Finding (Berrycreek Heights Series Book 1) by A. M. Porto
The Finding (Berrycreek Heights Series Book 1) is a YA/ Thriller that is packed with suspense, action, drama, violence, secrets, pain and so much more. This is this authors debut novel and holy cow I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. I was pulled in from the beginning and found myself on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I will warn you there may be some parts that might be a trigger for some but I recommend reading through it if you can. The characters are raw ,creative and developed. Get ready to be taken on quite the emotional journey. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this Author in the near future.

5 Stars A Match Made in Montana (The Millers of Marietta Book 2) by Elsa Winckler
A Match Made In Montana is the second book in The Millers of Marietta series and is a wonderfully written Second Chance Romance/Contemporary romance that I loved reading. I was hooked from the very beginning and had a hard time putting it down. This is a fairly new author to me but I enjoy her style of writing and attention to detail. Her characters are fully developed and relatable plus they make the story come to life. Although this the second book in this series it can be read as a standalone. Craig and Annie had a brief meet couple months back but now her sister Vivian is getting married to Craig’s cousin Aiden. Annie moved to Marietta after her wedding was called off. She wanted a freshstart so she bought and renovated a house she would turn into a B and B. Craig works for a marketing firm and is in town early to help with wedding stuff or that’s what he thought. These have some serious chemistry between them. They’ve both suffered loss of some sort can they be what the other needs? This is a sweet romance I highly recommend reading to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series I can’t wait for Mitch and Riley’s story.

This story has historical fiction, romance, paranormal, and is set in the New Orleans. There’s just the right amount of romance between the two main characters and a strong female character. The reader comes across vampires, goddesses, and magic. As the reader is drawn into the story you soon find out that not everyone is who you think they are! You’ll love this action-packed original story and an intriguing read to the end.

This is a really beautiful emotional romance. The author gives these characters and their lives so much depth that you are completely immersed in their story. This is definately a story of a chance meeting turning into a romance that changes and consumes the lives of the people involved. Simon and Tessa are so different that it makes the whole opposite attracts saying so true. Although as the story progresses their differences also causes them problems as Simon wants to settle down and Tessa is enjoying her jetting life too much. Their story of meeting by chance and the subsequent meetings and leavings makes this story such a moving read. Your heart breaks for them everytime they part and makes you wonder if they will ever just compromise so they can be together. It’s not a straight forward romance and with loss, and circumstances in their separate pasts that they need to work through you are always wondering if they can ever make this work or if they are doomed to constantly say goodbye to each other. This was a very emotional read. My heart cried for them several times during the story and I wasn’t able to put it down. Such a beautifully written story and it was nice to travel the world with this amazing couple.

Book four in an eight part series is here and it was another good read. Damon and Skylar are still dancing around one another, but the attraction is too intense to ignore. Skylar finds out that her father, who has been in prison, is set to be released and he wants revenge. Damon, understanding what is about to happen from the experience with Riley and her mom, asks the one person he truly loathes for help. Will Damon be able to save Skylar in time? Each book in the series is good on its own, but to get a better background you should read them in order. Damon has always had to be tough and act like he didn’t care, he is your typical bad boy. I felt like he matured a lot over these last two books and we finally got to see that vulnerable side we have all been waiting for. I can’t wait to read the next installment of this seires.

View all my reviews

Most promises aren’t too serious, or we don’t remember as time passes. Laurent and his friend Phoebe promise to get married to each other if they were both unattached at 40. Phoebe turns up after a significant amount of time to cash in on that offer. Laurent isn’t so sure he wants to make good on the promise after she left him behind without so much as a goodbye. Will they get a happily ever after? This was a good friends to lovers, second chance romance that can be read in one sitting. I have never read anything by this author before and I did enjoy her writing style. I look forward to reading more of her works in the future.

View all my reviews

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed and look forward to reading more in the future. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. An engaging story about Logan and his trip into the dark world of abuse, violence and a twelve year old that is in need of saving. I enjoyed Logan’s character and what his character brought to the story. This is a fast paced, engaging story that has twists and turns that are like no other. I enjoyed watching the growth of the plot as well as the characters throughout the story. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to see what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book.

M. Porto – Review by Bobbi Wagner
This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. I enjoy this author’s writing skills as well as their ability to keep me engaged throughout the story. This book is no different. It is a well written story with immortals, magical powers and a woman who has been hidden until she is able to join the vampire army. This is a story that has much going on but the author did a great job keeping me coming back for more. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world with ease. They have great growth as well as growth with the plot. They also kept the story interesting and entertaining to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story that you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed reading this paranormal story. I highly recommend this book.

Two sets of wounded families collide in Montana. Typical small town living assures readers of some hilariously awkward moments! The protagonists face some seemingly large obstacles to their potential happiness. One has a gaping wound in the psyche left over from childhood. Another has a more recent adult-sized hole in the heart. The author brings the loveable characters of a small town to life to witness life-altering events among the ho-hum of the everyday.
