This is the first book I’ve read by this author and he didn’t disappoint. This was definitely a page turner for me. It was hard to put the book down because I wanted to know what happened next. The world building and characters was well thought out. I loved the detailing that was put into the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone!

Angelo had loved Lucia since the first time he saw her, but being her brother’s best friend, he always put himself in the role of protector until one night Lucia asked him for the thing he could not give. Lucia was devastated with the rejection from Angelo but although heartbroken she will carry on with her life and leave him and their friendship behind.
Months go by without them speaking and Angelo is becoming more agitated that he has not spoken to Lucia for ages until the summer when their family’s holiday together and there she is more beautiful than ever and still stirs the attraction within him, but he has to keep it in check until he is more stable and reliable in his work and life to offer her the vey best she deserves. Lucia is nervous to see him but as the holiday goes on the slip back into the ease of friendship until one night when he kisses her all her worlds come together only to be rejected again and heartbroken all over again.
Years later, water under the bridge Lucia discovers something which turns her world upside down, but all she can think about is the only person who can help her make sense of the situation and take care of her is Angelo, but will he be onboard for the long haul.
This is not the first book I have read by this author, and this certainly won’t be the last, although this is the third book in the series this book can be read as a standalone. The story is about a bond which although we try to dismiss seems to guide us back to the light which shines. Angelo was a great character full of honour and morale’s although through the story his loses his way with Lucia in the end it works out brilliantly. Lucia’s character was strong and resilient and even though she was rejected a couple of times by Angelo she knew he was the one for her and pursued until the end.
I thought the tragedy in the story was written brilliantly and with compassion for someone who has never been through such tragedy the emotion through the writing was gut wrenching and my heart just hurt with the emotion. The writing was engaging, and the story flowed easily, with me not want to stop until I had finished the story. Thank you for a wonderful book and can’t wait to read more in the future.

The characters, and their chemistry, is everything about this book for me. I loved how interconnected they were and just how strong their bond is. Even after so many years it was obviously still there. I thought the story was really well written. Usually, this type of book is fairly predictable but with this specific one I found myself unsure as to how things would play out a few times. I enjoyed getting lost in the story and the characters and I am looking forward to the next book from this author.

This book has to be one of the better developed books that I have read this year. From the moment I started reading to the moment I finished, I was fully taken on the journey the author wants you to go on. The characters are well thought out and it was lovely to see the connection build between them over time, rather than have it all instantly fall into place. The story was a really interesting one as well. It could have gone a number of ways at anytime and yet the author never seemed to lose control of it. I was fully invested in it and the characters, especially Cressida. I fully enjoyed reading this story and cannot wait to see what is next from this author.

I swear every time I read a book by this author that it couldn’t possibly get any better. Then there’s a new book being better, ok maybe not better but I swear I love them all. If you asked me to choose a favorite by this author it would be impossible. Each book I’ve read has had the characters steal pieces of my heart, Hank and Ella were no different. From start to finish I was completely hooked. They just pull you into their world so effortlessly and you find yourself never wanting to leave them. I promise you they will live rent free in your mind long after you finish the book. It’s well written and you can feel every emotion written into it’s pages. I’m a huge fan of this author and all the characters created. Five big stars and highly recommended!

Elise Carlson continues her Ruarnon Trilogy with Secrets of the Sorcery War (Ruarnon Trilogy #2). She does an excellent job drawing you into the storyline right away, with such well-developed characters that you will have loved from the first book. I love the details that Elise Carlson includes in her books, which helps the reader to be drawn in and engaged with the characters, their lives, and the lives of their friends they are trying to protect while seeking to free Ruarnon’s parents. This book takes many unexpected twists and turns and keeps you wanting to more of the storyline. This book was a good read with a unique storyline. Debbie did an amazing job at developing the characters and the locations for this story.
This book follows the story of Lucia and Angelo. Lucia and Angelo have been friends for their entire lives. With families that are so close, it is not a surprise that they would be best friends. Unfortunately for Lucia, she falls in love with the one guy she feels she can never have.
Angelo is determined to protect Lucia and keep her out of harm’s way. However, how can one do that when they are not around all the time like they were in the past? With life events cause them to drift apart a little bit. There is nothing Angelo would not do for his best friend.
What happens when Lucia shows up to ask the man she loves to help her since she is pregnant by the one person he told her to stay away from? Would things have been different if that one night Angelo’s answer to her question was different? What is going to happen with the baby daddy? What happens when you put two best friends in close quarters for a while?
Read this book to find out what happens with Lucia and Angelo. This story is a great read and was hard to put down. I suggest reading this book after the first two in the series.

Music is the words of the soul. In saying that I love this series! And I think Breathless Love took the cake for me! My favorite book in this series. I had a feeling Hank’s story would be special. Since he’s different. Restless in his job in the family business Hank is destined for more. And with the help of Ella Mae, that destiny could become a reality. However you know how these books go. Nothing is ever cut and dry. There’s always some sort of drama. This time it’s family/fame. Ella Mae’s brother Travis is a wildcard. Will he derail everything for Hank? How will his behavior affect Ella? The author puts forward a beautiful story about rising out of the shadows. Filled with wonderful character growth by not just Ella but Hank as well. However I think this author is saving the absolute best story for last. The Bennett boys’ stories have been told, now all that’s left is Becky. And you know what? I can’t wait! If you enjoy a book series that revolves around a big loving family, this series is perfect. You can read the books in succession or however you want. Just because they are a series, they work very well as standalone novels as well. Book 3 for now is my favorite, which ones yours?

Eye opening. Before this book I had never heard of John David Latta and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from his first book. The title is what drew me in as June is personally a very hard month for me. This year marks the third anniversary of my Irish twin’s death and people are never prepared for the longer lasting devastation that loss leaves on your mind, body, and soul. Be it physical loss, or the loss of a marriage, the lasting effects of seldom talked about beyond the materialistic or more so the loss of the connection to the relationship. Quickly I realized that this was much more than just a book or even a memoir, it is a physical book on accepting that everything is not okay. That you can feel like your world is falling apart and as habit human beings cling to what they know. Order, to do list, tight schedules. The author mentions these early on how he found a type of comfort in the rigidity of what he knew. Until one day he finally took a chance on what he was being told in his groups, he is good at “doing” but he needs to learn how to “being”, to slow down and just be in the moment. Achieving this he finds a deeper connection to his son, and an understanding that the women telling him to do so might be onto something with it. Like David I find comfort often in keeping busy, having a list, and completing it but seeing the glimpses of my sons’ growing up faster than I emotionally can handle sometimes I have learned to take a break and let myself just enjoy the little moments. I have always been good at using the phrase but in recent years I have been slipping on living by it. In reading this book over the past several days when given a chance to sneak in a couple of chapters I have begun to focus more on myself in the quiet moments after bedtime. Not just for myself but for my two little boys that deserve to have a fully present mother that can let go of the things that shouldn’t be poison inside my mind, body, and spirit. The three seeds David mentions in chapter one were planted within me and I look forward to seeing how they grow and what other insights will come from the book as I reread it again not just reading the words but processing them deeper and finding how I can become more entuned with myself and learn to love unconditionally in all things to let go of the argumentative, competitive and deep anger for my pain that I hold so tightly within.

There is nothing about Secrets of the Sorcery War that I would change! This is the second book in the Ruarnon Trilogy, and I really didn’t think the author would be able to top the first book. Somehow they seamlessly pulled it off! I always love it when authors put things in the front to help give you a cheat-sheet, so to speak. Elise puts a map in the beginning as well as a list of characters to help get you on track. That being said, I would say it’s best to read the first book before jumping into this one because this is an incredibly in-depth world with multi-dimensional characters and plenty of drama. We continue the magical adventure with plenty of action, a diverse crew, and all the secrets being revealed. I highly recommend this YA fantasy trilogy. I just can’t wait to get my hands on the last book!

What and emotional book! The author wrote in such a way that I could feel the frustration that Julie, a flight attendant, who is dealing with an experience she can never forget. Julie told 5 families with very young children to put their babies on the floor of the plane during an emergency. What happened to those babies and the families when the plane crashed? How can Julie live with her knowledge of that experience and knowing nothing has changed in the 20 years since that crash? What if anything can Julie and the families do to change the emergency training or process so families don’t have to go through an event like this again.
An emotional story of sadness, hope for changes, strength, and so much more the characters work through after this tragedy they never expected to face during their lives.
This was an enjoyable take on the story of the three little pigs. I like this author and I enjoy this series. The author has created fresh takes on the old standard fairy tales and it’s refreshing. I recommend this book to anyone with children that love to read. The author has found a way to give new life to the classic children’s stories and created a new exciting world.
In a nutshell this is the story of 3 people torn apart by some huge misunderstandings, who come together again years later. With some twists and turns along the way they prove they are meant to be. It was a great read by a wonderful author and I really look forward to reading more from this author.

I absolutely LOVE this series! This truly wonderful author always creates such relatable, heartfelt characters and interesting storylines that you are completely hooked right from the start and this book definitely delivered that and more. I was instantly captivated by sweet Hank and sassy Ella Mae and I loved reading about them, their lives and seeing their relationship develop and grow into something really special. I was suspicious of Travis and his true motives right from the start even while my heart broke for him but I wont say too much as I don’t want to give anything away. Do yourself a favour and don’t just read this book but read the whole series!!

Heir Ruarnon has just returned from brokering peace treaties with some of the kingdoms surrounding thier home of Tarlah, but just as they are settling in, they have a visit by an ambassador from a community which has not had much communication with them since the Sorcerer’s War. This is surprising to Ruarnon, especially when the discussion turns into an invitation to visit this estranged kingdom and it is one they readily accept.
As the party prepare to leave, Ruarnon converses with their new found friends from Australia to explain their reasons for leaving their palace and not taking the four adventurers along, however, they promise that of there is a next time, that they are more than welcome to join them and woth that says the party set off on their travels.
While they learn more about what is known of this reclusive community of the Urai, Ruarnon is keen to learn more about their traditions and the reasoning behind the estrangement, however, they are also careful not to offend their hosts at the same time. All is proceeding well during their visit, until a messenger arrives with urgent news of a sighting of the dreaded Damars off the coast of Urai and Ruarnon is all too familiar of the dangers this poses to them all, so they advise the Urai of this and agree to consult with their councils on what to do and to report back to each other on their decision.
After these debates have taken place, a course of action is decided upon and the Urai turn out to be unexpected allies, as do the Australian quartet who decide amongst themselves to travel with Ruarnon and if possible speak to their adversaries to gain knowledge of the possibility of returning home.
When they all find themselves embroiled in a battle with the fearsome Damars and sorcerors, this both terrified and excited the four strangers, especially when after the Battle is won, they have the chance to speak to them and find out more about both the sorcerer Nartzeer, his plans and the reasons he attacked them. However, what they find out just leads to more questions than answers and more worries are heaped onto Ruarnon’s shoulders, but what do these new revelations mean and how will they affect the future of Uranimaris? This is an epic fantasy adventure across land and sea, to unravel the secrets which lie across the seas and untangle the webs surrounding the history of the many lands to reveal the future, or at least the many iterations of what it could be as this story hooks you in and keeps you guessing throughout.

Huff… Puff… Grind! The 3 Little Pigs Get Smart by Lois Wickstorm is a great unique children story
Another science- and STEM-related picture book has been created by Lois Wickstrom! The Three Little Pigs story has a twist since each pig attended school to study architecture. They start out making their homes to see whether they can develop wolf-proof ones. The pigs go through the process of drawing blueprints for their homes before starting to construct them individually.
Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even more one-of-a-kind characters. The story really transports you into their world. I couldn’t put the book down.
Huff… Puff…Grind! (Science Folktales) by Lois Wickstrom 4 Stars
This is the story of the three little pigs with a new ending. The wolf is hungry and comes to blow down their houses. Little does he know that they are architects and have built their houses strong and unbreakable. The three siblings put their heads together and come up with an ingenious idea to put all that hugging and puffing to good use.
The story encourages children to be kind and to be helpful even towards people who they think are mean. This is another fun addition to the author’s science folktales series.
Secrets of the Sorcery War is Book Two in the Ruarnon Trilogy. This book continues where the first book left off, so I highly recommend reading Book One so that you get an idea of the backstory and who the characters are. It is a YA fantasy that focuses on Ruarnon who feels pressure to live up to their parents’ expectations to take roll of successor to the throne of Tarlah. Ruarnon is young but wise beyond their years, as is the secondary character of Linh. When their parents are kidnapped Ruarnon must take charge and plan a rescue mission. Will they be up to the greatest challenge of their life? The author does a great job of transporting the reader into the fantasy world of Ruarnon and captivating us with descriptive scenes that immerse you into the scenes with the characters. A great read full of mystery, drama, action, danger, secrets, lies, and suspense.

This is a work of fiction but is inspired by real events that have taken place. Desert Flower is only 7 years old when she is abducted by her grandfather to join his tribe of the Chiricahua. She doesn’t understand their ways at all and misses her family, who perished, as well as her friends left behind in her original tribe.
As custom is, Desert Flower receives a new name once she’s been assimilated into her grandfather’s tribe. She becomes Talks Like Thunder and oh, does she!! Thunder is a force to be reckoned with whether its from her own people or the Blue Coats.
This is a very emotional read. I have studied Native American history to some extent but reading these stories, even though fictional in nature, provides some context as to the treatment of these people. I found myself cheering for Thunder throughout all her trials and look forward to reading more about her people in future books.

This book is the second book in the ‘Ruarnon Trilogy’ and a continuation of the first book so I would suggest reading the first book before delving into this. Although, it is detailed enough that you COULD read it as a stand-alone but will make more sense as a sequel.
Ruarnon, the first non-binary ruler, is at it again with their friends. They are still trying to prove their worth to the haters all the while trying to find allies to help them defeat the Sorcerer King. Ruarnon is introduced to their mothers heritage in hopes to find allies that way. They learn much about the ways of the Urai. They are going to need all the help they can get. The sorcerer king has magic and is not afraid to use it.
Much like the first book in the series, it was hard to keep track of who is who. The author is a very good writer, very detailed but a little too dense for a YA fantasy. There was quite a bit of extra information that we honestly didn’t need. I do like that the main character is part of the LGBTQ community. I also like The world building and the characters in general but it was hard to engage or relate which makes a difference to me. I like to become one with the characters but found I couldn’t picture myself in the world.

An emotional roller-coaster ride where you are pulled in by the author and can’t stop turning the pages to find out what happens next. The story follows Paige, Julie, Marie and Terry’s lives after they survived a horrific plane crash. The author keeps you engaged and wanting more throughout the story, its one you can’t put down.

This is the 6th installment in the Once Upon a Widow series; however, you can easily read it as a standalone. There are ties to the other books in the series, but nothing too specific that you can’t figure out what’s going on. I stepped outside of my typical romance genre for this read (I typically like my romances dark and extra spicy) but I really did enjoy this historical, sweet romance. Other than the bit of drama at the beginning in which leaves Lady Helen a widow and returning home with her three-year-old daughter, Maeve, this story is fairly drama-free. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Lady Helen and Conway, Earl of Griffith. I would absolutely recommend this book, especially if you are looking for a palate cleanser between darker readings.

Ways to Improve Bailey by Cori Cooper. This was such a fun romance. Its the story of Bailey who is a college student and works at a frozen yogurt shop Froyo. She lives with her brother Dayton who is older in Phoenix, Arizona. Dayton has a list of things he thinks Bailey needs to do to improve herself which personally ticked me off lol. I know he was trying to help but still it aggravated me. One thing on his list was to quit lying which is needed unfortunately. Tanner is a nerdy college professor who goes to Froyo everyday. Bailey thinks Tanner is weird because he comes into the shop everyday and orders the same thing every time. Somehow she finds herself on a date with Tanner and when he really listens to her like no one else she really likes him. He sees all the good in her and makes her want to be a better person. Will her brother break up a good thing or will he see how good Tanner is for her. Read this sweet fun romance to find out!

This is the 2nd installment in the Ruarnon Trilogy and you definitely need to read the books in order to fully understand what’s going on with the plot line and character development. This is an epic YA fantasy saga that is all-inclusive and follows the MC, Linh, on her quest to find allies to free her parents from the evil (maybe?) Nartzeer. This novel is full of twists and turns and I can’t wait for the 3rd and final installment to come out. I loved the inclusiveness of the LGBTQIA+ community within the novel and it wasn’t done as an after thought and didn’t seemed forced. The premise of the novel is great and I really liked the character development; however, I feel that Carlson tends to be overly descriptive and verbose in some areas of her writing and it would often make me lose interest in what was happening at that moment. There were definitely parts that could have been shorter and moved the story along faster without taking away from the plot. BUT overall I would recommend this YA fantasy saga if you like this genre.

Ahhhhhhh that cliff hanger!!!!! This installment of the Hidden Valley Elite series is by far my absolute favorite. The banter between Sky and Damon is everything. I need the next installment now!
