I really enjoyed this book. As the first book in this series, I can not wait for the next book to continue the story of Connor O’Brian and Niamh.
Niamh is the fae Princess next in line for the throne. Her father is gone and is supposed to return at her Naming Ceremony. Niamh is not one to stay in the Hill under the Mound and seeks into the human lands to sing a bar close by. Niamh has the voice of an angel and has become close friends with a few humans. She needs to keep herself glamoured so no one knows she is fae.
Connor O’Brian is a vampire with a wicked Master. He was able to gain his freedom but his Master is NOT accepting the idea. She will do anything to make his life miserable. When Connor walks into the bar his great grand nephews are singing at, he meets Niamh for the first time. He is taken into her thrall even before he hears her sing. He could feel an attachment to her for some unknown reason. This story continues with the growing friendship between Connor and Niamh. This was a great read.

This is a great story of family, friendship, and finding love in the most unsuspecting of places. This is a MM romance. It has a very Brokeback Mountain feel to it. I loved getting to know Dan and Jake and seeing their relationship develop. And Mimi, the dog, had my heart from the first time we meet her. This is a great read with a few *spicy* scenes and I would highly recommend. I can’t wait to see if McKibben is going to come out with a sequel. Reviewed by @megan
Under my Care is the third book in the Chase Care Series. It follows the story of Peter Walter the Clinical Facility Director for Chase Care. This role is a bit different from past ones where he has been a physician assistant and a pararescue jumper for the Air Force, but it is far from keeping him out of danger. The book starts with a bang as Pete is on a mission to save a mother and daughter who have been kidnapped.
The mother is unable to be saved by the time Pete and his team arrive and only the young daughter, Linde is left behind. The building is on fire, so they rush to rescue her from the burning building, but Linde and Pete are now in need of urgent medical care. The team is forced to land their helicopter at the nearest hospital after a blizzard hits the area. The ER is busy as other local residents have sought shelter from the blizzard and need urgent medical care. One patient in need of urgent care just happens to be the young daughter of the bad guys.
When Pete arrives at the hospital, he comes face to face with the beautiful woman he has never forgotten. He has not seen her since an unforgettable mission in Afghanistan. A mission that left them both hurt and left their lives in turmoil. Dr. Rowena Anderson has moved herself and her two sons back to her family’s ranch in Montana to keep them safe. She is now working as an Emergency Room Doctor at Guardian Hospital. When Dr. Rowena sees Pete again, she realizes that secrets are hard to keep buried. Her and Pete must work together to decide what their future will be. Will they be able to survive the chaos and pursue the chemistry between them?
This book will grab your attention and suck you into the storyline from the beginning. It is fast paced with so much going on at once that it is almost impossible to catch your breath. The characters of Rowena and Pete were relatable, and you could feel the chemistry between them. It was interesting to see how their story would unfold. Both were strong, independent, and unafraid to look danger in the eye. This book had it all from the heart racing, nail biting action, suspense, danger, and intrigue to the romance, love, passion, and chemistry between characters. I am anxious to read book four in this series.

The Silent Road is the first book I’ve read from author S.N. McKibben. This story takes the reader on a journey with Dan, a divorced father and truck driver who cannot seem to catch a break in any aspect of his life. He feels like a failure of a husband because he loved the road as a truck driver more than he enjoyed time with his family. He feels like a failure of a father because of the turmoil of a somewhat absent father. Now he is having to be trained to drive a truck, although he has been doing it since he was a child. He is racing to get to Texas while apprenticing under a gay man named Jake so that he can help his daughter with moving into her dorm and to pay for her first semester of college. It is evident he feels passionately about being there for his baby girl, and might seek some redemption from the past. Dan has considered himself to be a “bigot” but still respectful enough to not wish harm upon anyone who is different or thinks differently from him. However, this trip with Jake seems to opening his eyes to thoughts and feelings he’s never thought or felt before.
This story was very well written and I loved seeing how this story grew and how Dan grew as a person as well. Sometimes it’s the things and situations we detest and refuse to accept, that we actually need to open ourselves up to to be okay with or even find our true happiness, whatever that may be. Overall, I do recommend giving this story a try if it sounds interesting to you!
Dan is a man who seems to screw up everything he touches. He spent so much time away from home trying to make money to support his wife and daughter that it caused his marriage to collapse. Not only did his marriage fail but his ex-wife thinks he is a deadbeat. He has failed to follow through with past promises to his daughter, so she has lost all faith in him. The only thing Dan has left is his rig and driving on the open road hauling freight. Or it was, up until the day he was pulled over and was caught driving without a license.
Getting caught driving without a license could not have happened at a worse time for Dan. He needs the money to pay for his daughter’s college tuition. If Dan cannot come up with the money, he risks losing his daughter forever. Dan is forced on probation and must have a co-driver with him in order to prove that he is capable of getting his commercial license. The problem is that Dan does not want to have Jake as his co-driver. He knows Jake’s dirty little secret, and he wants no part of it. Unfortunately, Dan’s boss gives him no choice and Dan must make the best of it as he tries to convince Jake to bend the rules a little bit so that he can make good on the promise he made to his daughter.
As Dan and Jake head out on the open road they get to know one another better. Dan finds that he enjoys Jake’s company a little more than he expected. In all honesty, a lot more than he expected, and it scares him as he finds himself questioning his own sexuality. Could Jake be what he has been looking for, what has been missing from his life, all this time?
This was an interesting MM romance with a big rig, hitting the open road, feel to it. As Dan and Jake hit the open road together it becomes a symbol of their freedom from the constraints of society’s beliefs, judgement, and condemnation. On the road they do not fear what others may think and are allowed the freedom to get to know one another in an open and honest manner. The characters of Jake and Dan are clearly more layered than this story allowed as it was more focused on the relationship between the two men. The author asked for feedback at the end of the book on whether readers would like to read more about Dan and Jake. This reader says, yes, I would love to read a book on each one where the story focuses solely on them, their background, past relationships, and so forth.
I personally, would read a book about Dan which goes back to his marriage to his ex-wife. What was their relationship like? In The Silent Road we know his marriage collapsed because he worked away from home so much. Were there other contributing factors that caused his marriage to fail? Was their relationship rocky to begin with? Did Dan display any signs that might explain his interest in Jake? Was he not attracted to his wife? Was there an underlying reason that kept him on the road and away from his family? A reason that he may not have realized at that time. I would love to know more about Jake as well. Was he always attracted to men? In The Silent Road we see signs of society’s disapproval over his lifestyle. Was there ever a time in his life where he felt the need to conform to society’s beliefs about who he is and hide his sexuality? Was he ever married? If so, does he have children? All in all, this was a good book and I enjoyed it. It left me wanting to learn more about the pasts of both Dan and Jake and I want to read more.

When I first picked up this book I wasn’t quite sure what to expect and the first reviews I came across weren’t that favourable but the synopsis sounded intriguing and I’m so glad I decided to read it and it was really good read and thoroughly enjoyed it!! There were some great laugh out loud moments and the characters were entertaining to read about. I may possibly have fallen in love with Wick. There was so much passion and chemistry between him and Nadine!! I have read the first book in this series but I definitely want to grab it and find out a bit more about some of the characters! A great read and one that I would definitely recommend!
I absolutely love this series! Will and Maggie’s story has been such a great journey to follow. I love the time travel, the historical romance and to be honest just everything. The authors writing is so amazing, there is no a point at all when I am confused about what is happening or which time period I’m in, everything is just so seamlessly written. The whole series has been a joy to read and this new addition was no exception. Just when you think the couple are settled into twentieth century life they find themselves back in time to sort more problems out. Another fabulous read from this author, I would highly recommend you read this series in order! I can’t wait for more from this author!

I have been waiting for the next book in this series to be released and the author did not disappoint with Under My Care! It was everything I hoped for and more. I loved Pete and Rowena’s story, it was jam packed full of action, suspense, danger and so much more. It definitely had me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next for sure! I loved the dual POV for the telling of this story – for me as a reader it means I can get to understand both of the characters. I am so excited for more from this author she definitely writes stories that either have you on the edge of your seat or swooning from the romance!

When I first read the synopsis for this book I really felt drawn to the story and I have to say it was such a great read. I loved it from the very first page until the last. I fell in love with the characters Abby and Nate straight away although they definitely had me screaming at my kindle at times with their miscommunication! There was definitely a huge amount of chemistry between the main characters and I liked that this was about older characters and this definitely made them more relatable for me as a reader. There were some good secondary characters and I’m looking forward to reading more from this series!

Other People’s Money is wonderful well-written, suspenseful mystery, with interesting characters. While this book is part of a series; it reads well as a stand alone novel. Maddie and Mike, two private investigators are working on three investigations. Each case, reveals something peculiar and creates tension; which made reading this novel great. There were a few times where I thought I had figured out the ending; I was kept guessing until the end-which did not disappoint!

Caro’s tale and full of family drama, fantasy, and star-hopping, this story was exciting right from the start. I do recommend you read books 1 and 2 first. Oh, this book is just as good as the previous. The characters are relatable. The story/plotline flows well. I found myself totally engaged as I read. I am guilty of having my phone glued to my palm so I could keep reading. The world-building and mythological fantasy of this series is so good and I have enjoyed it so much. This is a new author to me and I hope to read so much more from her.

I fell in love with this book. Roderick and his brother got to go on the journey of a lifetime. What a world-building experience this was. I found it to be full of action, fantasy, lots of just excitement. The characters kept me glued to the story. I couldn’t put it down. I sure am glad that my Kindle app is on my phone. I had to read every moment I had. Once you started, you just had to keep going to see what was coming next. It’s a tremendous fantasy story that is well-developed.

This Young Adult sci-fiish story is full of revenge and hatred, want and fear, action and drama, broken dreams and promises, betrayal and greed, monsters and war, family and relationships. The fantasy world Winnifred has created different and unique as it combines astrology, mythology, magic and more. The story is fast moving After a millennia of being outcasts, thrown out into space like they were nothing they have had more than a life time to want, a long time to plot, to want revenge, to crush those who imprisoned them. Now their wait is over their wants and hopes of freedom are so close they can taste it. It all pins on one Space Acolyte, Caro. The Gods don’t even know what is coming for them. Caro is missing and try as they might they can’t find her. What trouble has she gotten herself into? What secrets and lies are keeping the other Acolytes from finding her? 4.5 stars Right in Front of You is the first book in the Morris Valley Gang romantic series. I really enjoy Brooke’s stories and was excited to see this new book was out. This is one of my favourites from her. It is easy to fall in love with the characters and the charming small town and the locals. Brinley Moore comes back to the one place that felt like home Morris Valley. To the friends she left behind. However, she finds more than she bargained for in one tall dark and quiet cowboy. The only thing was coming home was supposed to keep her safe. Adrian Cook came to the small town to start a new life leaving his past in the past. Unfortunately it is that same past that isn’t quite conducive to relationships. That is until a one Brinley Moore breezes into town and in to his life. The only thing is can he keep her safe? I jumped into this one and had to finish it in one setting. Somehow, Jacqueline’s twin sister is a she-wolf, and they find an automaton. I saw hints of steampunk and a bit of paranormal with suspense. Oh, this was such a fun treat. I have not had the pleasure of reading anything like this. It will make you chuckle and had has a few surprises. There are adventures, some drama and a bit of romance. A story that flows well, has entertaining characters and a plot that comes together just right sure does make for a must read.

I must admit when I first started reading this book I was really unsure that I was going to like one of the main characters, Dan. His attitudes at the start really annoyed me but this creative author weaved a storyline that not only keeps you interested but shows real development in Dan. It didn’t take me long to see beneath his initial attitudes and feel for him. There is just enough steamy moments to see the bond building between Dan and Jake even if Dan wants to strongly deny it. I really enjoyed this authors writing and will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books.

This is one heck of an exciting romance. Brinley just wants some peace. She’s trying to get away from a stalker. She goes to visit friends and meets the hot Adrian. Oh my, do the sparks fly. I love the chemistry with these two. The interactions are witty and quite entertaining. Their friends, seeing as they both know the same people, are quite relatable and entertaining also. There is some baggage and drama in the group that I look forward to reading about in further books. The story is feels like you’re hanging out with them. This author has a way of writing that puts you right into the story also so that you are experiencing everything. You feel the emotions, etc. It’s a terrific romance that I recommend you must read. Adrian and Brinley are now on my list of favorite characters.

4.5 stars French author Ef Deal gives us her debut novel, Esprit de Corpse. It is an original and quirky historical paranormal steampunk tale. This intriguing tale is set in 1840’s France and is full of Ef Deal’s imagination of many unusual and unique marvels. Having been to France it’s easy to imagine the world in which Ef Deal has created. What is really in the underground of the Parisian world. Jacky loves tinkering anything mechanical is her thing. But when she comes across a mechanical man everything changes. Suddenly she and her sister Angé find themselves trying to unravel the mystery and stop a war. With wolf shifters, British agents, French spies, not to mention an occult they soon find themselves in danger when things turn dicey. The plot and subplots keep you on your toes as we journey along with the characters and their exciting world. If you like steampunk, something a little different and unusual you will definitely like Esprit de Corpse.

This is an amazing historical fiction book. It is normally not my usual genre but I was caught up in the story from the first page. I am not familiar with the characters of this book, so it felt like an actual story but knowing that it is based off of actual figures, blows my mind. I feel like I might have said more attention in history classes growing up if they were presented like this. I can’t speak on how it portrays the charters based upon the actual events but I can say that this book kept me riveted the whole time. The mystery, the intrigue, the feelings these characters have, the dangers that come with being in the time period they are, all make for a page turning book. I understand that this book is only based off of the actual people and events and has a lot of fictional areas to the story. Knowing that doesn’t ready change anything for me because I didn’t know anything about these characters going into it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Russian history, loves a good historical genre book, and who just wants to escape. I will definitely be reading more books like this. Ef Deal is a new voice in the genre of speculative steampunk with her debut novel, Esprit de Corpse, but she is not new to publishing. Brooke lives in North Central Wyoming with her husband she affectionately refers to as the warden, their two wild and crazy boys, and her yellow lab, Timber.
When she doesn’t have her nose in a good story, Brooke enjoys spending as much time as she can outside. Walking around town, fishing, hunting, hiking, and messing around the mountains, Brooke loves the great outdoors which shows up quite a bit in her works.
Brooke has been writing and telling stories since she was old enough to get someone to sit and listen to her, mainly being her best friend. She started off posting fanfictions and then decided to publish when she was on maternity leave with her youngest. A year later My Cowboy came out.
Brooke doesn’t just write one type of romances, but loves to explore as many as her mind can come up with.
Her hobbies outside of reading are landscape photography, drawing, and just being outside where she can get dirty.

Not quite what I expected but a good read. The characters seem a little larger than life with the name and label dropping. I get that it describes the level of money and celebrity but not my thing.
Flynn has had some hard knocks in life. She found out accidentally that she was adopted. Her birth mother died months before locating her. Her tennis career ended in a white water rafting accident on a trip that she should have never been on that also left her then boyfriend in a wheelchair. There is more but that is just the highlights. When she meets Chavez, he makes her feel things that she has not felt in a very long time. But Flynn has never been good at relationships and finds self-sabotage works well as an exit.
Chavez has never had to stop proving things in his life. He has to continue to prove to the tennis world that he deserves to be where he is, on top. A couple of recent hits in his personal life has made keeping his famous temper under control a little more difficult. That is until he meets Flynn. Flynn seems to be the thing in life that helps him keep it all together. Now Chavez just has to find a way to not only not scare Flynn off but break through all the walls she has built around herself.
When all the secrets that Flynn has managed to keep from Chavez’s all-seeing eyes threaten to derail Chavez’s rebuilt career, Flynn must find a way to let him in and save his career. I want a man so dedicated to knowing, pleasing, supporting, protecting his woman as Chavez. I am all in on him. Although I may not understand all the labels, I understand his loyalty to familia and the woman he wants to be in his life forever. Their chemistry is palpable. Totally worth the read.

3/5 Stars This was my first read by the author and it took me off guard. For some reason when I read the description I didn’t put two and two together that it was a MM romance. The writing is well done, however, this genre just isn’t something I’m interested in. I would be interested in other works of this author in different genres.
