The cover art drew me in. I don’t think I even read the synopsis of the story, but really loved the cover art and spooky feel of it. Straight for the Kill is the 3rd book in the Benoit and Dayne Mystery series. I have not read the other 2 books, but I kind of wish I did. I felt very confused and frustrated the first part of the book. There are a LOT of characters, and some being deputies, are often referred to by their last name, and others their first name, and some nick names. I felt like I had names swimming in my heard and hard a hard time connecting who was who and what was going on. It was prob 1/4 of the way through the book before it all clicked for me. The book is well written and high stakes mystery. There is a lot going on, and the mystery remains throughout. We know that some characters know more than they let on, but not all is revealed, and that kept me engaged because I wanted to know how everything unfolded. The “who done it” if you will…. I will likely read more by this author, as the story was well developed.

Ouroboros Antipodes Series book 3 By: T.S. Simons Review by: Susan Ratchford 5 Stars
Ouroboros is my favorite installment of the Antipodes series so far. The intensity never stops! I absolutely love it! So far each book has upped the Ante and Ouroboros was no different! T.S. Simons has kept me on the edge of my seat for all three books and I can’t wait for more! She creates such a vivid and unique world, with a journey through romance and friendship, that just keeps you glued to the pages. Book 3 Ouroboros is a flawless continuation of Cam and Freyja’s story. It has everything you want in a book: tension, adventure, tests of friendship, danger, and romance. I can totally see this series being a big hit on Netflix! I highly recommend reading the Antipodes series in order to get the best experience possible from this amazing series! I can’t wait for what book 4, Caim, has in store!

I enjoyed this book just as much as the first in the Antipodes Series, if not slightly more! Having already “connected” with many of the characters while reading the first book, I felt more invested in the outcome of the struggles. Cam, and the rest of the community on Lewis, learn that there were several more communities created than originally thought to ensure the survival of as many humans as possible. A list of those taken to these communities is circulated and Cam embarks on a new journey to find family. I found the idea of liminal space discussed in this book rather interesting. This is the idea that all of the big moments in our lives are connected by a transitional period, or liminal space, and neither can exist without the other. T. S. Simons delivers the same wonderful characters and world building as the first book and I am quickly moving on to the next book!

Shore Lodge was a good book that kept me engaged. It is a story focusing on Jacklyn Stone, a widow trying to re-center after the loss of her husband. Like all deaths, she is feeling off kilter, but also was left with some shocking news. Her adult children convince her to go to a “retreat” to get some time to herself and try to get back on track. However, things are not what they seem. It is not a resort, but rather a psych facility and she has been admitted without her knowledge. The story continues as we see what her children are doing now that Mom is locked up, and Jacklyn’s fight to break out of Shore Lodge. The book is pretty messed up, but not gruesome, more just makes you think… because stuff like this probably happens more than we realize. I felt bad for her being tricked, and was rooting for her the whole time. I felt a little let down with the ending, and I am not entirely sure why. It wrapped up nicely, I just expected something bigger, I guess? The characters are good, and i like that we get to see into the personal life and thoughts of all of the Stone family, to give us a better picture of how things got to that point. I do plan to read the next book in the series.

Sessrumnir is the fifth book in the series. It’s worth reading. I love how the characters have grown and developed as the story progressed throughout the series. Everything in the book, dealing with loss, gaining new experiences, and how the characters interact together are very relatable. The plot flows well through the different events that are happening throughout the story.

I am obsessed with the Antipodes series and its ability to make you think about the important questions in life. If you had the opportunity to start over, would you? I couldn’t help but put myself in Cam’s shoes and relate to his character and emotions. T.S. Simons writes with such emotion it pulls you right in. If you love any sort of dystopian sci-fi you will absolutely love this series. It is delightfully unpredictable and deep. This installment, book two The Liminal space, has such a great and seamless flow from book one. I can’t wait to read the next book in this fantastic series, Ouroboros!

The events of the past few years made me a little reluctant to start reading Antipodes. However, I’m extremely glad that I did. T. S. Simons delivers a vast array of characters across many settings and communities as well as great world building in the first book of the Antipodes Series. Lots of character introductions take place in this first book, including Cam, Freya, Lae, and more. This dystopian romance really made me think about everything. If the world were to be threatened, how would humans react? How would we ensure the survival of the human race? Would we create some kind of completely new system or are we doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past? There was a lot of information in this book, but I didn’t feel like it was too overwhelming or difficult to follow and understand. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!

Imagine living in the wild west… never feeling hungry or want but also completely bored. Thus starts the story of Simon who leaves home to become a famous outlaw. However.. it’s not just his lawless adventures you also explore MM romance in a time in history where it was very much not accepted, dangerous and deadly to explore. This book kept me turning the pages and had a good story with well built characters… wild west stories aren’t typically my favorite read but this one was solid 4 stars given its length

This book was hard to put down once I was invested. This story is a steamy romance with aspects of the paranormal. The connection between these characters is off the charts, as soul mates should be. There are twists and turns in this story while these three are trying to navigate what’s real and what’s a dream. This was a quick but well written story that you don’t want to miss out on. This book was filled with so much suspense I couldn’t put it down. It made me filled with so many emotions and all the feelings from curiosity, angry, anxiety, and enthralled. It was just a rollercoaster of a ride. This book was so well written it really made me wonder a few times if it was true or not, I had to keep reminding myself that even thou it was such an amazing read that it was also fictional. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down I had to know what was going on next with what was Jacklyn thinking and if the situation she was going thou was heartbreaking. This thrilling captivating mystery had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down.

This is the first book I have read by Susan Specht Oram; the plot drew me in as I am a big fan of psychological thrillers on tv and movies but finally getting into them in books. The beginning, that is the title of the first chapter, it sets the plot for the entire book. Jacklyn and Albert were high school sweethearts the only thing they loved more than their family was gardening. Suddenly a heart attack takes Albert from her, after having a mental breakdown, her son takes it upon himself to “deal” with her. This book is from three perspectives, Jacklyn newly widowed, her daughter Rose and her son Dusty. Living two hours away Rose isn’t around every day to see how out of it her mother has become. Dusty on the other hand has been there every day but dislikes the thought of having to move in with his mother or the burden of handling and relying on someone to come to the house to take care of her. Severely depressed after losing her husband Jacklyn is going through the motions, clinging to her shop schedule. Looking into everything after his passing she has discovered that he has given sixty-two thousand dollars to their son in recent years to help him get ahead on his dream but now she has no savings and must keep the shop to earn back what was given away. Meanwhile Carolyn, a valued employee that has worked for them for years is interested in buying the shop, but Jacklyn can’t just tell her she can’t afford to sale that she has no choice but to keep it. Dusty wants his mother sent away somewhere, where she is someone else’s problem to deal with, leading him to finding Shore Lodge, a psychiatric facility not far from where she already lives. Rose is against this but having a child and a parenting agreement with her ex-husband has no choice as she can’t move in with her mother to help. While Dusty agrees with Rose to try and get their mother to willingly agree to go, he informs her that he has power of attorney over their mothers medical and financial decisions and if needed he will use that to make sure she is in the Lodge. Can Jacklyn prove her mental stability in time to save her home? Dusty loves to hold a grudge, but what does he hold against his mother? Rose only wants to help her mother but is this the right decision? The world the author builds is both beautiful and tragic. The characters are realistic in their actions, making you route for Jacklyn from page one that she will succeed. This book had me on the edge of my seat and holding my breath is several places and I can’t wait to read book two in the Millersville Series, The Thieves.

It is a very inspiring book, with so many tips and advices from over a 100 authors, it is a very motivating read. It also changes our perspective towards things and how we approach life. It is always good to get a piece of advice from people who have been through the same journey which one wants to step into. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Sam is an aspiring actress who moves to LA to follow her dreams but quickly learns Hollywood is not all its cracked up to be and becoming an actress is a lot more than she thought. She meets a man who seems to be her knight in shining armor, who offers her success for “the exhange” will she take the deal to get the success she desires? I felt this book was fairly gripping especially in the beginning (omg heart stopping moment) but felt it was pretty abrupt in its transitions and I felt the story could have been developed more in depth and it would recieved all 5 stars
My kids loved this. I don’t have a very good pirate voice, which made reading this to my kids tons of fun. My kids definitely need to learn some patience and maybe this helped them understand some of it. Only time will tell. They enjoyed every minute of reading this, and I think there was lessons to be learned. Highly recommend!

This was a great start to a new series and I can’t wait to see what will happen next. This book was a quick and fun read but wasn’t lacking anything. It gets you hooked from the beginning. I definitely don’t miss high school days but this authors writing made me feel like I was there with everyone. I can’t wait for the next book!
I love to read fantasy romance and this was really up there! I would have to say this is one of the best ones I have read in a very LONG time. This was the first book I had read by Nicole E. Kelleher and I had no idea that I would be so impressed! Nicole truly blew me away with this book! Wild Lavender is a wonderful first book in the Heart & Hand Series and I am really anticipating the next book! Nicole has such an amazing way of creating such a beautiful world! It is a fast-paced read, that has mysteries, romance, danger, and tons of chemistry. I recommend giving Wild Lavender, a chance and you’re going to fall in love with the world that was beautifully created and interesting characters. Happy Reading!

Chat room with a view drew me in with such an atmospheric, spooky cover. Another thing that really drew my attention was the first line in the description about Lizzie Borden’s crime and I knew I was in for a dark, spooky, mind boggling read. This was an incredibly fast-paced, thrilling read, but it was definitely dark, twisted, insane, and very realistic. I had a hard time connecting with the main character Troy but I think that would make sense with the issues he was having with his mental health that I don’t have experience with. I would recommend if you are planning to read this book that you be aware of the themes that you will read throughout and be mentally prepared.

Wow what a book. I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t that lol. Had my interest from the very start though. Book has a ton of triggers, so definitely check those out. It’s about abuse, murder, mental illness. An absolute thriller and I really enjoyed it. Reading about the abuse he had done to him, as well as his mother…by the hands of his own father absolutely shatters my heart though. I can feel that from my own personal experiences. Characters were great and I personally thought the book was well written. It’s a dark read but it didn’t bother me so I really enjoyed it!

The 45th Parallel is from the viewpoint of Freyja and Cam’s daughter, Caitlin. She is about to turn 21 and has a knack for mischief with her sister Seraphine. They are both special children with the ability to survive the protozoa including the infected water. Not surprisingly they are bored with their current lives and long for adventure. They want to travel the world as their parents have. When their travels don’t go as planned they may have bitten off more than they can chew.
I enjoyed this new addition to the Antipodes Series. It is nice to learn how all the characters are doing after 14 years later. Cait’s point of view is that of a young adult trying to find her place in the world. I highly recommend reading this series!

Really interesting book! I’ve never read a book like this. When there is a world wide pandemic, Australia tries to prepare a contingency plan before it spreads to them. They collect highly skilled people of all backgrounds and place them in a new environment, protecting them from the pandemic. But when everything goes haywire, Cam, one of the people placed in the survival experiment, tries to keep the peace. At least he finds the people that make his adventure worth while. Read this book if you like adventure, new worlds, and building relationships.

Shortly after the death of her husband, store owner Jackyln Stone is convinced to ‘visit’ a retreat center… Little does she know/expect that her own son would have her committed to what turns out to be Shore Lodge psychiatric facility. This is one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read! From the beginning of the story, I was drawn in and really felt connected/emotionally invested in the main character’s situation. There’s such a raw and realistic element to this story that it makes the reader’s imagination go wild…and makes me question trusting my own blood in the future. I’m looking forward to the next book!

With Jake’s sister in the middle as Lily’s new BFF, this story is so fun, loving, and absolutely enjoyable for everybody to read.

The characters and their feelings are relatable. You can feel right along with them and envision their struggles and journey. I highly suggest reading the other books in the series prior to reading this one, although you could probably get by with just reading this one. T.S. Simons does a good job at providing the reader with necessary information from previous installments, but you will be missing some of the backstory. The Antipodes series has an amazing storyline, full of interesting events and relatable characters. The 45th Parallel is no different. This book is a little dark and very intense. It deals with so many really difficult topics from abuse, catfishing, and stalking that it makes it difficult to at times to get through, but it was worth the read. The story was interesting and I enjoyed it. The author dealt with the many intense emotions and issues in an interesting and unique story. I look forward to reading more from this author.
