This was a good collection of books, and what a great cause the proceeds go to!
There’s a story for everyone in this set and while they all weren’t my normal genre I love, I found each enjoyable.
I also found new authors to look out for.
If you like the stories of the everyday hero, this is the perfect colletion for you!

Hometown Heroes is a collection of five stories: Courtship and Courage by Carrie Daley, When Time Stand Still by Chelsi Arnold and J.D. Bourdreaux, Hobbes House Noel by CJ Peterson, Talking in Code: A Christmas Homecoming by E.A. Hale, Safe Haven by Jolie St. Amant. Each story features a different genre but they all have a Christmas theme.
The short stories are all well written and held my attention from beginning to end. I haven’t read any of these authors so I’m glad a chance to get a little snippet of their writing styles. I love the heroe aspect of these stories. The strong characters and the romance. This is a great collection and I would highly recommend this collection to get you in the Christmas spirit.

I loved this collection so so much. I have read books by a couple of these authors and loved them, what I really like is that now I have a few more authors to follow. Every story in this anthology was a 5 star read for me, a few of them I didn’t want to end and wish they could have been longer. Each one had a common thread with the hero part of the storyline, and this was shared by each author in a different way.

I don’t normally like reading anthologies and the only reason I took a chance on this one was a couple of the authors I have already experienced and the Christmas theme because I love anything Christmas. This one had everything I want in my books and I’m so very glad I picked it up.

I highly recommend reading this and I also can not wait to read it again next Christmas.

Many thanks to these extremely talented authors.

Loved It!!

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology by Carrie Dalby, Chelsi Arnold, Cj Petterson, E. A. Hale, J D Boudreaux and Jolie St. Amant and is a series of very short christmas romance and stories told by the different authors. They range from stories told in earlier times to
current times and even the paranormal, but each one is about heroes, falling in love and the joy of the season. There is also a lot of emotions in the stories and some may bring you to tears. But all in all it is a group of stories that will take you on a short magical journey and their diversity will ensure you enjoy that break in reality.

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology is a collection of five short stories by six wonderfully talented authors. These authors all have different styles and approaches to writing; all are unique and individual- but each story uses the same theme as their inspiration for writing their contribution to this anthology- the common thread running through each of the stories celebrates everyday heroes. Whether their heroism is gained through devotion, or leaving behind the safe and familiar in the hope of adventure and challenge, or saving a life by grabbing them from the clutches of death, or by being a war hero, or being someone who fights for what they believe in, or having the courage to leave a painful past behind in order to embrace the future- we meet a variety of leading characters, each one a hero in their own right and are unique to their storyline. All the stories are set around Christmas, and are packed full of Christmas spirit.

The Anthology contains:

-Courtship and Courage By: Carrie Dalby
-When Time Stood Still By: Chelsi Arnold and J.D Boudreaux
-Hobbes House Noel By: C.J Petterson
-Talking in Code By: E.A Hale
-Safe Haven By: Jolie St. Amant

All the stories are so engaging and believable- with wonderfully written plots, and well developed characters. I have read books by several of these talented authors before- but three of the authors were new to me… so I was excited to not only read the work of the authors I knew and loved, but also get an introduction to some authors who are new to me.
So, settle down for some wonderful reading, which will entice you with heartfelt romance, some suspense, a bit of mystery, history, some paranormal, action, drama, adventure, and more. There is something here for everyone!
I really recommend this Anthology- you won’t regret buying it! It is worth every cent of the purchase price- and by purchasing this anthology you will be helping out a charity in the process, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Cajun Navy Relief! #Win-Win!

Thank you to all the contributing authors!

Wish I Had A Nickel Book 2 The Sand Dollar Series by J.D Boudreaux – Review by Jenni Bishop

Wish I Had a Nickel (The Sand Dollar Series Book 2)Wish I Had a Nickel by J.D. Boudreaux
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wish I Had A Nickel is the second book in The Sand Dollar series by J.D Boudreaux. It took me a while to figure out that I had read book one and what it was about. I do recommend that you read book one, because it will give you a better perspective of our main character an his life. This books is many years ahead of where the first book left off which was a surprise but didn’t detract from the story. This is a story of a man with man different relationships with many different people. He is always the man of the hour wanting to help people but what does he do for him. What is it that he is looking for? Does he even know? I hated the way the book ended because there is so much that I want to know now. I don’t want to wait for the next book but alas I don’t have a choice, J.D. is making me wait. “Sighs”

Wish I Had A Nickel (Sand Dollar Series book 2) by JD Boudreaux is the second book in the Sand Dollar Series. I definitely recommend reading the first book if you haven’t already.I loved this story it pulled at my heart strings while taking us on a emotional rollercoaster ride. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. Alex and Leigh have been best friends since birth until the day Leigh’s family moves.Although they haven’t seen each other in over thirty years they still pick right back up.I honestly wss confused at first trying to figure out who’s telling this story in their POV,but quickly figured it out.I enjoyed the story and all the Characters. There is one thing I kept thinking throughout the book and that , Wish I had all the nickels! This author is very thorough in the details. Find out what happens with Alex and Leigh,by grabbing this book. I can’t wait to read book three in this series.

Wish I Had a Nickel (The Sand Dollar Series Book 2) by J.D. Boudreaux ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

Wish I Had a Nickel (The Sand Dollar Series Book 2)Wish I Had a Nickel by J.D. Boudreaux
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First and foremost, I highly recommend that you go back and start with book one in The Sand Dollar Series, Penny for Your Thoughts. JD Boudreaux is a very detailed writer, and she also builds her stories over the span of her books. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea to read chronological or series type novels, but if it is this is the stuff right here. Everything flows beautifully and really just comes together to build you the reader into the world of the characters that you are reading about. I like that and am often excited to jump into the Sand Dollar books. I am bummed we will have to wait till 2019 for book three but I know it is already on my TBR list!!

This is more about Alex and Leigh. They were inseparable as children. Well, until Leigh’s family moved to another state and distance didn’t necessarily make the heart grow fonder in this situation. Now, years later they are given a second chance to rekindle the friendship they once had. Both find themselves living by each other again. Conversations seem to flow between these two as if time and distance never even existed but they are cautious and hesitate with each other. Over time it gets harder to deny the romance budding between the two, will they be able to put the past behind them and start anew? Can it work out this time? Will they ruin the friendship they just now reset?

I loved the idea of second friendship with the twist of romance thrown in there. It was a heartwarming story that just felt good while reading. This was the perfect sunny Sunday afternoon read for me, and exactly what I was in need of, just a little bit of a spirit lifter. Happy reading! Thanks for another great Sand Dollar novel JD Boudreaux!

Not sure where to begin with this review… I also wasn’t sure how many stars to give this book, I started out with 4 then stared at the screen thinking wait a minute, just because I’m totally ticked off about a few things doesnt mean its a 4 star book, it actually means in my opinion it’s a 5 star book because of how i’m feeling, which of course means it got to me, and that is usually the author’s intent isn’t it?

Im left confused after finishing this story, this is probably because it’s the 2nd part of this series and like an idiot I didn’t read the 1st. I had no problems while reading the entire book, until like I said it came to an end and I literally threw my kindle…I was so upset because I have no idea what happened…This tells me that I need to without fail, go pick up the first in this series and see if it helps me at all with how this one ended, this will also help in me being 100% ready when the 3rd is released, because I will have the 3rd the very second I can get a hold of it.

I sincerely loved this story, I loved the characters, GiGi and Angela were completely awesome!! Alex and Leigh made me fall in love with them immediately and their lifelong friendship even with the long break in it was great. I loved the way they interacted and how their relationship was aloud to grow, not just happen, was something I seriously appreciated. There are 2 other characters in this story that have me sitting here with question marks above my head…this is where I feel like I’m missing something and although I’m not sure Ill get these cleared up when I read the first, I still feel like I’ll get a little more understanding.

The story moved a tad bit slow in parts but it was still written so beautifully that I read every word and whenever I had to set it down I couldn’t wait to pick it back up. This is an awesome read and I want the next one like 25 minutes ago…I can not wait to see where all of this goes.

Highly recommend, but read them both, I have a feeling that is exactly what I should have done!

Wish I Had A Nickel (The Sand Dollar Series Book 2) by J D Boudreaux – Review by Maura Harper

Wish I Had a Nickel (The Sand Dollar Series Book 2)Wish I Had a Nickel by J.D. Boudreaux
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Let me start this review by saying that I JUST found out it is book 2 in The Sand Dollar Series. Book 3 doesn’t come out until 2019 and it’s the first that has been added to my “next year release TBR”. I honestly did not know this story started somewhere else. It actually changes my perspective on a few things.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and WISH I HAD A NICKEL is extremely detailed. At times it felt a bit like a tour of the town, other times a recap of recent weather disasters and still other times like a vacation diary from someone’s road trip. I was able to visually 97% of the descriptions in my mind’s eye.

The characters are interesting. There are layers to them and it’s not always obvious what they are thinking. This is an interesting story because it’s told from the male’s point of view. This is a story about first love and best friends and oh so much more. I was surprised by the end. I thought a book of this length would stand on it’s own. I didn’t realize (as I mentioned before) that this is actually part of a series. I read it “blind” so wasn’t sure what to expect.

I think this could be classified as a “Christian Contemporary Fiction” and I appreciated that tone in which the story is told. It’s not too heavy handed, but you know where the characters lean. It’s never judgmental of the reader and their knowledge of religion. It’s also a romance with no bedroom scenes which is a pleasant break from what I’ve recently been reading.

This is a book I would recommend to my elderly mother’s book club and my neighborhood book club alike.

Wish I Had A Nickel (Sand Dollar Series Book #2) by J.D. Boudreaux – Review by Angela Hayes

4 Stars

Wish I Had A Nickel is the second book in The Sand Dollar Series by J.D. Boudreaux. I recommend reading book one before starting on this one, because it will give you a better perspective of this story and the ‘feel’ for the series as a whole. There are also other relevant details contained in book one because there is a bigger picture being ‘painted’- so having all the information is important. I enjoyed this book more than the first and it was apparent that the author was more ‘comfortable/confident’ writing this book. I do like the characters, they are interesting and likeable. There is a little more to them than first meets the eye. The story spans many topics from friendship, love, family, expectations, second chances, fate, and more. The story is set to continue in book #3, The Broken Sand Dollar, which releases in February 2019.

I look forward to seeing where the story goes from here.

Thank You, J.D Boudreaux!

Penny For Your Thoughts (Sand Dollar Series Book 1)Penny For Your Thoughts by J.D. Boudreaux
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Penny for your thoughts by JD Boudreaux is the first book in the Sand Dollar series and a first book for this author. It is a lovely story that will have you laughing and crying as we watch two wonderful people meet and fall in love. You will find yourself walking with them as they find their way to love, but is love enough? Penny and Alex have never met anyone that has ever felt so right. They have never met someone they could see a future with but loving someone and being there for someone are two different things and will they be enough?

To find out you will need to grab a copy.
