Imperfectly Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 4) by Anise Storm – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Imperfectly Yours (Titans of Manhattan #2)Imperfectly Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Titian series and concept of the Titians is better fleshed out than in book one. Unlike the other books this one begins with the main characters, introduced in book 1, already as a couple. The author does a great job at drawing you into the story. It isn’t usual that I would cry reading a book from, what I would consider, steamy romance genre but the author makes it into so much more than that. She knows how to break your heart before slowly mending it back together.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Titians series. I started with the 3rd and liked it so much I read the others. This doesn’t really introduce the Titians at all and is the one I’ve liked the least. It’s a good story and I like how the author is able to tell the story without making the conflict seem annoying simple to solve. The characters were well developed and likable. I look forward to reading the last book in the series when it comes out later this summer.

This is the second book I’ve read in this series. Initially I was annoyed with the main male character, he was a stereotypical arrogant ass. However, over the course of the book his character development was pretty impressive and by the end I actually liked him. Overall this story had more depth then many in this genre and I really enjoyed following the characters through their journey of self discovery. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Romance under Aquarius (Stargazing Series Book 1) by Danielle Jacks – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Romance Under AquariusRomance Under Aquarius by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were interesting and the plot flowed nicely. The way it combined the story of a human and a mermaid, and their intersection, was unique. Atlantis is one of those fascinating topics that contains so much mystery it’s neat to hear a story about it. Overall a cute romantic story combined with a mythological/astrological element that doesn’t disappoint.

The Wolf’s Shadow (The Lycanthropy Files Book 1) by Cecilia Dominic – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Shadow Wolf (Moon Marked, #2)Shadow Wolf by Aimee Easterling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A different take on the typical werewolf story. The storyline and characters were well developed, definitely not the typical wolf finding mate type story. There was mystery, science and research, twists and turns, and a little love. Even with all that it was still easy to follow and hard to put down. I look forward to continuing the series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! A gripping thriller full of twists is not an understatement. I literally couldn’t put this one down. I read it all in one sitting, which was difficult at one point and I had to read it while doing things because I couldn’t put it down. The description of this book is excellent and it will not disappoint. I won’t give any spoilers but will say there was more than once my mouth hung open in shock.

Notebook Mysteries ~ Changes and Challenges (Notebook Mysteries Book 3) by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Notebook Mysteries ~ Changes and ChallengesNotebook Mysteries ~ Changes and Challenges by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When I started this book I didn’t realize it was the 3rd in a series. Sometimes that doesn’t really have an impact but I did feel like I was missing some of the back story that was necessary. Overall the story flowed great and I loved how independent and ahead of her time Emma seemed to be. Historical mystery isn’t a genre I’m really familiar with but I plan on reading this one again after reading the previous books in the series. I would recommend this book to others who want to follow the series and Emma and her friends story.

Spring’s Showers (Romantically Seasonal Series) by C.A. King – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Spring's Showers: Romantically Seasonal: SpringSpring’s Showers: Romantically Seasonal: Spring by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was drawn to this book, the first in a series, because of the unique premise. The Gods make a bet challenging Cupid and Mother Nature is first up. The love story was predictable but cute and not drawn out. The background on the Gods was interesting and added that little bit extra to draw you in. I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Reunion in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction Book 4) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Reunion in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, #4)Reunion in the Outback by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A realistic story of a couple working through the ups and downs of marriage. The wife working toward resolution with her husband at times felt a little forced and repetitive but not so much I wasn’t able to enjoy the story. Once the secrets were finally revealed the couple was able to have their happily ever after.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book took me by surprise. I’ve found many romance books, especially those in a series, are heavy on romance but can be very predictable and be lacking in character development. This author was able to do it all. The romance was hot and heavy and I loved the characters. The main character was strong and easy to like. The plot didn’t feel repetitive and even had some twists. I plan to read the rest Anise Storm’s books.

Love’s Full Circle by Cherry Christensen – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Love's Full CircleLove’s Full Circle by Cherry Christensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The story begins with broken-hearted teen romance, giving the background on what went wrong for Liam and Kayden. I enjoyed following the characters as they rekindled their connection and experienced the ups and downs that come with learning to trust again. I wasn’t expecting the religious tilt but it’s easy to breeze through if that isn’t your thing. Overall it was a typical romance, predictable but a reliable quick and heart felt read.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fantasy, romance, and mystery this story has it all. From seeing what people are feeling, reading their thoughts, to being able to control what someone feels Mesmers hold special abilities that make them powerful allies or dangerous enemies. As you are pulled into the story it’s hard to know who to root for, everyone starts to seem suspicious. Even when you think you finally figure out who the villain is the author surprises you once again. A easy and quick read, you won’t want to put it down either.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reading the description of this book I had high hopes for it and it did not disappoint. The author does a great job of drawing you and keeping you in suspense. The characters felt well developed and relatable. I was completely off base with guessing what the event was driving them apart. Even after learning what it was there were still twists. It was a great read and I definitely stayed up too late to finish it!

Exiled South by Harriet Cannon – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Exiled SouthExiled South by Harriet Cannon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was surprised by the background of the main character and the way the author wrote about the incident that directed the main character’s life was impactful. The author was able to weave in so much about the south past and present I really felt like I was getting to know the family. I also have to admit being in the mental health field and a PNW native made me like the author even more and I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for more books by her.

Forbidden Moon (The Shadow Chronicles Book 3) by CR Robertson – Review by Jaymie Johnston

Forbidden MoonForbidden Moon by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don’t normally read this genre but have had others like it showing up on my Facebook feed recently. This book is by far better than others I’ve read or started reading. The plot was intricate, a few times a little too complicated, and suspenseful. The ending was not predictable, as many books are. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and definitely recommend.
